Music Input

I have recently lost all music files stored in my external hard drive...can i put the music from my ipod back into my empty library???

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iDump Windows Only
SharePod Windows Only

Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPodCopy Mac and Windows
Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

  • Is it possible to charge an iphone from the car USB music input port?

Do I need to use the power port to chage my new iphone or can it be done through the usb port for music.  I got a "may operate at low capacity message" on the screen - or somehting like that.
    thanks for your help

2/3 or what you'll use the iPhone with will give you the optimized message.  Just ignore it.  If the battery looks like it's charging, it's charging.  When I plug into my Acura TL I get that message, the battery charges, and everything works just like it should including my Phone with calls.  No damage will be done to your phone.

  • Optical Digital Input & XBOX

I have hooked up my XBOX 360 to my computer monitor using the XBOX HDMI output to the monitor's DVI input via a HDMI/DVI adaptor.
Since the monitor obviously doesn't do anything with the audio, I am trying to route the audio to my computer speakers via the Optical Digital input on my Mac Pro. I have the XBOX audio connected this way but for some reason when I go into GarageBand and turn the monitor on (this is the only way I could find to allow the audio input to play straight through to the audio output), I get a lot of buzzing and feedback. The audio from the XBOX is being sent because I can hear it faintly in the background but I cannot figure out why I am getting this feedback.
Has anyone managed to do this successfully? Any ideas?

    Hi,
I fell bad about answering a question with a question- but I noticed your comment about "...when I go into GarageBand and turn the monitor on (this is the only way I could find to allow the audio input to play straight through to the audio output)"
I have this problem of not hearing the music inputting at the audio input and tried Garage Band- but still no sound at the audio output. What settings worked for you in Garage Band?
    Thanx

  • Music over Overhead paging

Is it possible to initiate playing music over an Valcom overhead paging by either dialing a DN or scheduling?
    Chris

depending on the model of valcom controller you have, it should have a background music input... the 2003 & 2006 controllers do, for instance. Connect the source to that & then put your source on a schedule/timer...
That way you're not tying up your paging port for the music -- you can still connect paging to the fxs or fxo port & when you page it will mute the music. If you connect your music into the system port (the fxs or fxo port, depending on model) -- you can't use the unit for paging while you're playing music, because the port is busy with the music...

  • Itunes Music & Netzero

Anyone that is having problems downloading their music and receives an (-50) unknown error, it is because of your Netzero Highspeed internet. You need to click on the speedometer after you log into Netzero and turn off the High Speed. This then turns off the web accelerator. You then should be able to download your music but at a very slow pace (takes about 5 minutes per song). I have windows Xp, Norton, Windows Firewall and Zone Alarm and tried turning off all of those but found out that wasn't the problem. It was the Netzero dial up high speed 3G that kept the songs from downloading. I also put those two files they mentioned under Internet Options under Trusted Sites. You can always turn your Netzero High Speed back on once your done downloading from ITunes.

    Alex hello,
When iTunes starts it checks for the nominated location for any new music input... if the location is not available iTunes will by default reset it to the home iTunes folder... this will only make a difference when adding new music so always check before doing so ... the nominated location does not tell iTunes where your music is, iTunes already knows that from when the music was 1st added...

  • X-Fi Xtreme Music Digital In on Vista x64?

I am trying to send a PCM signal from my CD player digital coax output to the X-Fi Xtreme Music input (the Flexi Jack). In the Console I am setting the input as Digital I/O, mode it is Audio Creation Mode, but I cannot get any signal. If I switch Flexi Jack to "Line In", I have signal (Monitor record Line In).
I have signal coming out from the same Jack when it is configured as Digital I/O. The cable has stereo jack on one end and 2x RCA on the other. The White is the digital out, I am guessing the the Red shall be the Digital In...
Did somebody manage to make this work

Just an update, I'm throughly convinced the problem lies in the fact that the "SPDIF Input Settings" drop down menu in the Audio Console is grayed out and I can't access it.
I read some things about how the Flexijack doesn't support Digital Inputs, only outputs, but according to this chart,
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=55&product=780#
The X-Fi Xtreme Music does support the SB Digital I/O Module. Again, any help would be appreciated.

  • E72 using Ovi Maps, no sound through BT Carkit Par...

Hi, I am using the latest FW (updated today) and when using Ovi Maps I hear no sound through the carkit. Is there a setting which I have to change?

I am guessing that latest firmware 52.005 for your E72 has a later version of OVI Maps pre-installed in device firmware than you were previously using. There has been a change in OVI Maps v3.04 in the way voice navigation is handled with HFP = Hands Free Profile being used for both voice and voice with streetnames, whereas earlier versions used A2DP = Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for text2speech (voice with street names) and HFP for standard voice navigation. If you were using English with street names it was probably using Music input on Parrot MKi900 which would explain why it is no longer working.

  • Why does apple tv music search no longer provides lists of songs or artists based on inputing a few letters?

When using my first generation apple tv and the music search capability, I no longer get a list of options generation when inputing a few letters of a song or artist.  In the past (up until a month or two ago) if I input "led" in the search, I would immediately get many options of songs, artists, etc. showing up in the search screen.  Now, if I put in "led" I must go to the next "page" and it will provide a much more limited selection.  If I don't know the exact name of an artist or song, searching becomes less of an actual search and more of, you better know exactly what you are looking for or you won't find it.  I was told by a service rep that there must have been a software upgrade that changed this function.  Does anybody have any info to confirm that, or is there some other problem?  I've updated all the software, rebooted the system, etc.  If it's a change to the function, it has renedered it almost useless, and that's a shame

I have exactly the same problem. I already did a factory restore! How can this be fixed?

  • Car with USB input - but music plays from phone sp...

    Hi all,
Last week I got a new Nokia Lumia 520. I've had iPhones for years, but since getting an iPad, though I'd have a change of phone.
Our Nissan Quasquai has a usb input which connects straigh to the head unit. I can plug my iPad straight into that usb port and it plays music through the car speakers, with the added bonus of being able to change tracks on the steering wheel.
However, an iPad is a chunky beast and when family are in the car its not practicle. So I thought I'd put some music on my Nokia and see if the same functionality is available. Unfortunatly when I connect it to the car through the usb stick, it plays from the phone speaker, not the car speakers.
Is there a setting I need to change within the phone, or is what I want to do just not possible? My next option is to play with a usb memory stick.
Many thanks is advance for any help and guidence.

there isnt a setting that will allow that to happen.
the phone cannot play audio/video through the usb. it is for data transfer and charging only.
your cars radio integrates and controls your iStuff because it has the software integrated to allow for it.
if you have bluetooth, just connect your device to your car through bluetooth and play it that way.
my pioneer still allows me to pause, play, fwd, etc on my nokia that way. i just cannot go through the menu system.

  • Sending Music signal from Nano into TV AV input to play on TV speakers

Have a Nano 4thgeneration. I just purchased the Apple Composite AV cable. Hooked it up to my TV's composite input (video, + Red/White audio). Played music on the Nano and hear nothing from the TV. The Nano manual talks about sending Video's from the nano out through the cable, and mentions setting your nano to send the video out. I don't have any videos on my Nano, and when I go to the Video setting on the nano, it doesn't allow you see any options (is this because I don't have a video loaded to the Nano??). The composite cable instructions indicates that if one's ipod doesn't support video, you can use the Composite cable for audio output. SO, if I had a video on my Nano, would I be able to 'set' the Nano to output to the Composite cable, and if so, would the Nano then also be sending the music? Seems very odd that you can't enable music out of the AV cable unless you have a video on the Nano in order to direct the output. HELP, all I want to do is listen to music from my Nano on my TV (which has very nice speakers)!!!

RJC_AUS, Welcome to the discussion area!
Is it possible to connect to the AV2 without the video channel?
That depends on the "Samsung LCD, model number LA40M61B". If the Samsung device allows it then it will work. If the Samsung device does not allow it it won't work.
This has nothing to do with the AirPort Express (AX). The AX ONLY supplies audio.

  • Plugging power cord while recording music - zero input

This is a strange problem when recording music via an interface:
When I am recording sound (Amadeus Pro) via a bus-powered firewire-S/PDIF-interface having my 2012 MBA on battery, and during recording I plug in the power cable, there is a complete zero input for one second or so (shown as -infin dB). Sometimes it goes with digital artefacts. Sometimes this also happens when doing other commands while recording.
    Possible reeasons:
    Core Audio goes down
power for the external interface goes off
I never had this problem with my earlier MBP and SL.
    Anybody?

Hi, Jim. Your guess is exactly correct. The DC-in card to which the port is soldered needs to be replaced. It will probably cost at least a couple of hundred dollars to have a technician replace it, or if you're handy, you can buy a used part and replace it yourself for about half that amount:

  • Does the iPad allow for mutli-channel input for Music Recording Apps?

I know there are a few apps out now that have 8 track recorders but I've never used them. I plan on using garageband for iPad since I'm 'seasoned' with it and looks alot nicer than Amplitube. The question is, If I use the camera kit for it's USB, will it accept USB Interfaces w/2+ inputs or USB Mixer?

I'm not a concert muscian. However, I've used my iPad for piano music. It worked fine for me. I believe the app I used is called Etude. However, I don't recall if you can import your own music into that program or not.
The other issue I can see is that the iPad is, compared to sheet music, rather heavy. It's fine on the music stand of a piano. It would probably be okay on one of the music stands I used to use when I played in an orchestra (they were black metal). I think, though, that it wouldn't be trustworthy on a folding music stand. If sheet music falls to the floor, you just pick it up. If an iPad falls down, it might break.
    Best of luck.

  • No subwoofer with X-Fi Xtreme Music connected to analog 5.1 inputs of HT amplifier

I have a X-Fi Xtreme Music connected to the analog 5.1 channel inputs of my Thomson home theater amplifier.
Everything works fine expect for the subwoofer. When I play stereo content using CMSS 3D or when I use Creative's built-in DD or DTS decoders there's no sound of of the subwoofer. All the other speakers work perfectly but the subwoofer doesn't respond at all.
But when I use PowerDVD to playback a DVD/BluRay which has a Dolby or DTS 5.1 soundtrack the subwoofer works like a charm. I guess that's because PowerDVD uses it's own DD/DTS decoder and not the X-Fi's one.
I also tried to use the bass redirection function in the THX console but that didn't make a difference either.
I also tried different drivers but non of them could fix this so far:
-latest official driver and console launcher available from Creative (couldn't try the bass redirection with this driver as it has no THX console)
    -SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 2.0?by ?daniel_k
-SB X-Fi Series AuzenForte Pack .0 by daniel_k
Does anyone know that problem or maybe even know how to fix it's?
If it can't be fixed on the software side I thought about using a Y-cable and a low pass filter to input the X-Fi's center speaker signal into my amplifier's subwoofer input. The only problem with that would be that I would have to switch to the X-Fi's real subwoofer output and back when I play back a DVD or BluRay using PowerDVD as PowerDVD outputs the bass signal to the subwoofer output like it should be.
What do you think about that workaround?
    Thanks

Welcome to my dillema... i own the x-fi fatality and i'm on the virge of dumping it in favour of competition's cards. problem is that x-fi will NOT encode 5. over digital. Yes your receiver has 5. decoder but the card does NOT encode the sound. at best you'll get 2 channels. azuntech cards are capable of this I believe. what i am doing at the moment is use RCA cables and go over analog and let x-fi do the work as opposed to the receiver. 2x /8 stereo to 2 cable RCA, and /8 stereo to 3 cable RCA (camcorder type) cables. alternati'vely you can spend couple bucks and buy the adapter creative sells for connecting to home theater system. as far as what you can do to get x-fi to do 5. over digital... well there's not a hell of a lot you can do because the card doesn't support it... unless a creative staff can correct me and show me how to do this

  • Inputing sheet music into piano roll

To improve my arranging skills. I'm trying to input a sheet music score for strings into the piano roll editor.
For instance, the sheet music has a C-E-G chord on the treble clef, but I don't know what octave to put this C chord in ( C3, C4, C5 ETC?).
So is there a chart that would tell me exactly what octave a particular note is played at in a particular clef?

for be able to improve your arranging Skill you need a Maestro...
