Mutli thread Program Compilation

Hi,
I try to compile an example program from oracle proc*c/c++ programmers guide, but I couldn't able to identify the errors. Below I am attaching the errors: "Pro*C/C++: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Thu Jun 15 17:14:38 2006

Hi,
Was the program you tried to compile a code snippet or
a complete proc program ?
According to the manual,
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/win.102/b14321/sampprog.htm#i1005776
the demos seem to be here: ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\precomp\demo\proc

  • Thread programming -  variable might not have been initialized

    Hi there,
    Probably a fairly simple one here (quite new to java), i'm trying to do some thread programming but I get this error.
    ThreadController.java:42: variable dataGeneratorThread might not have been initialized
    dataGeneratorThread.activeCount();
    The bit I dont understand is that I run
    this line here
    for(int i=0; i < JuliaFrame.NO_OF_DATA_GENERATORS; i++){
    dataGenerators[i] = new DataGenerator(JuliaFrame.ImageWidth,JuliaFrame.ImageHeight,inputBuffer);
    dataGeneratorThread = new WorkerThread(dataGenerators,juliaCalc,displayBuffer);
    dataGeneratorThread.start();
    but when I do
    dataGeneratorThread.activeCount()
    is balks.
    I check that the thread is alive first but dont no how to tell the compiler this - obviously NO_OF_DATA_GENERATORS could be 0 in which case the compiler would have issues - I just wish it was more trusting ;)
    Here is some of the code
    runable class{

    Subject: Program compiles, but does not run
    I am trying to port a Java application from the PC to the Mac. I am using XCode and the program compiles, but it does not run.
    When I try to run the ...app, I get the message that the main class is not specified, etc.
    When I try to run the ...jar, I do not get the message that the main class is not specified, but I do get the message that there is no Manifest section for bouncycastle, etc.
    Here are the detailed messages I get in the Console when I try to run the program:
    When I try to run the ...app, I get the following message:

    I do specify the main class in both, the Manifest file and the Info.plist file, in the correct way, "package.MainClass". Is there another place where I need to specify it?
    Why do I need org/bouncycastle/asn1/DEREnumerated.class, and how would I have to specify it in Manifest?
    I also posted these questions at Mac Programming at forums.macrumors.com and at Xcode-users Mailing List at lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo, but I did not get any answer.
    Please help! Thanks!

    There was something wrong with my Info.plist file.
    So, here is my corrected Info.plist file:

    However, I still cannot run the AnanyaCurves.app file. When I double-click on it, I get the following message in the Console:

Isn't this outdated? Shouldn't it look for the Info.plist file? I do not have a MRJApp.properties file.
    Also, in the Run menu of my XCode project, Go, Run, and Debug are disabled, but perhaps this has to do with not being able to run the AnanyaCurves.app file.
    Thanks for your time! I really appreciate any help you can give me!

  • Running a Java Multi Thread Program in database

    I have created a multi threaded program in Java and it runs successfully from the command prompt. I want to create a DBMS Job which will wake up at regular intervals and runs the java program(Java stored procedure). Is this possible in 9.2/10G ?? If Yes, will there be any impact on the DB performance/increase memory etc.,
    The database (9.2...) resides on a RH 2.3 AS box.
    Any ideas...
    Thanks,
    Purush

    Purush,
    Java stored procedures cannot be multi-threaded. Well, they can, but the threads will not run in parallel. You may be able to find some more information in the Oracle documentation, which is available from:
    http://tahiti.oracle.com
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Need HELP with objects and classes problem (program compiles)

    Alright guys, it is a homework problem but I have definitely put in the work. I believe I have everything right except for the toString method in my Line class. The program compiles and runs but I am not getting the right outcome and I am missing parts. I will post my problems after the code. I will post the assignment (sorry, its long) also. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. It is due on Monday so I am strapped for time.
    Assignment:
    -There are two ways to uniquely determine a line represented by the equation y=ax+b, where a is the slope and b is the yIntercept.
    a)two diffrent points
    b)a point and a slope
    !!!write a program that consists of three classes:
    1)Point class: all data MUST be private
    a)MUST contain the following methods:
    a1)public Point(double x, double y)
    a2)public double x ()
    a3public double y ()
    a4)public String toString () : that returns the point in the format "(x,y)"
    2)Line class: all data MUST be private
    b)MUST contain the following methods:
    b1)public Line (Point point1, Point point2)
    b2)public Line (Point point1, double slope)
    b3)public String toString() : that returns the a text description for the line is y=ax+b format
    3)Point2Line class
    c1)reads the coordinates of a point and a slope and displays the line equation
    c2)reads the coordinates of another point (if the same points, prompt the user to change points) and displays the line equation
    ***I will worry about the user input later, right now I am using set coordinates
    What is expected when the program is ran: example
    please input x coordinate of the 1st point: 5
    please input y coordinate of the 1st point: -4
    please input slope: -2
    the equation of the 1st line is: y = -2.0x+6.0
    please input x coordinate of the 2nd point: 5
    please input y coordinate of the 2nd point: -4
    it needs to be a diffrent point from (5.0,-4.0)
    please input x coordinate of the 2nd point: -1
    please input y coordinate of the 2nd point: 2
    the equation of the 2nd line is: y = -1.0x +1.0
    CODE::
    public class Point{
         private double x = 0;
         private double y = 0;
         public Point(){
         public Point(double x, double y){

         private double y = 0;
         private double m = 0;
         private double x2 = 0;
         private double y2 = 0;
         public Line()
         public Line (Point point1, Point point2)
              this.x = point1.getX();
              this.y = point1.getY();
              this.x2 = point2.getX();
              this.y2 = point2.getY();
              this.m = slope(point1, point2);
         public Line (Point point1, double slope)

              double m1 = (point1.getY() - point2.getY())/(point1.getX() - point2.getX());
              return m1;
         public String toString()
              double temp = this.x- this.x2;
              return this.y + " = " +temp + "" + "(" + this.m + ")" + " " + "+ " + this.y2;
              //y-y1=m(x-x1)
    public class Point2Line
         public static void main(String[]args)
              Point p = new Point(3, -3);
              Point x = new Point(10, 7);
              Line l = new Line(p, x);
              System.out.println(l.toString());
    }My problems:
    I dont have the right outcome due to I don't know how to set up the toString in the Line class.
    I don't know where to put if statements for if the points are the same and you need to prompt the user to put in a different 2nd point
    I don't know where to put in if statements for the special cases such as if the line the user puts in is a horizontal or vertical line (such as x=4.7 or y=3.4)

    Sorry guys, I was just trying to be thorough with the assignment. Its not that if the number is valid, its that you cannot put in the same coordinated twice.
    public class Line
         private double x = 0;
         private double y = 0;
         private double m = 0;
         private double x2 = 0;

         public Line (Point point1, Point point2)
              this.x = point1.getX();
              this.y = point1.getY();
              this.x2 = point2.getX();

  • Any problems running a program compiled with SDK 1.4.2_14 with JRE 1.4.2_08

    Hi,
    Would there ever be a problem running a program compiled in Java 1.4.2_13 with JRE 1.4.2_08?
    Why or why not? No guesses please.
    Thanks

    No such hope. The alternative to testing is to review changes made to each version leading up to 14. This is spelled out in each version's Release Document. There are a lot of changes. Most will not affect your program. Each change is relatively well described, but your problem will be to decide if your program will be affected by the change.
    Or, do nothing, hope like hell that nothing breaks, and have an up-to-date copy of your resume.
    If someone came to me saying a program couldn't be tested, I'd have serious concerns for that person's future.

  • Using nanosleep() in a threaded program cause SIGBUS or SIGSEGV

    Greetings,
    I'm working on a multit-threaded program using Solaris' threads (not POSIX).
    When I call nanosleep() or usleep(), sometimes the program works well, but often I get either a SIGSEGV or a SIGBUS.
    Have a look at the following dbx output using a core file:
    (dbx) threads
    o>    t@1  a  l@1   ?()   signal SIGSEGV in  t_splay()
          t@2  a  l@2   cpu_thread()   LWP suspended in  ___nanosleep()
    (dbx) thread 2
    dbx: unrecognized arg/option '2'
    Use the 'help' command for more information.
    (dbx) thread t@2
    Current function is cpu_thread
      367           nanosleep(&sleep_time, NULL);
    t@2 (l@2) stopped in ___nanosleep at 0xfe5c017c
    0xfe5c017c: ___nanosleep+0x0008:        bcc,a,pt  %icc,___nanosleep+0x18       ! 0xfe5c018c
    (dbx) list
      367           nanosleep(&sleep_time, NULL);
    (dbx)The code used to create the thread:
    thr_create(NULL, 0, cpu_thread, NULL, 0, &tid);Am I missing something?
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks,
    -Thomas

    t@1 a l@1 ?() signal SIGSEGV in t_splay() Most likely a corrupted malloc heap. Thread t@1 is crashing
    somewhere inside malloc() or free().
    Use libumem(3LIB) or dbx's access / memory checking support
    to find out where you're corrupting the malloc heap.
    t@2 a l@2 cpu_thread() LWP suspended in ___nanosleep() The nanosleeping thread isn't responsible for the crash.
    The t@1 thread is the culprit. Print a stack trace for thread t@1.

  • Run C program compiled for Linux on Mac x11?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to run a c-code program compiled for Linux on x11? If this is not possible, is there a way to have a linux platform runninn os 10.6.8 so I can use these programs?
    I knew little about Linux or X11, so I don't know if it is possible or how to recompile the program for x11.
    Thanks!

    Linux compile code will not run on Mac OS X, and even if you violated the Mac OS X license to run Mac OS X in virtual machine on top of Linux, the Mac environment would still not run the Linux program.  The Linux program needs to run on Linux.
    If your Linux program is X11 based, then it is possible to run the program on Linux and have the output displayed on your Mac.   Start an Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal session, and run the command
    ssh -Y [email protected]
    LinuxPrompt> run_your_Linux_program
    The ssh -Y will establish an X11 DISPLAY tunnel between your Mac and the Linux system.  When you run an X11 based app on the Linux system via this ssh session, the X11 display output will be sent back to the Mac.
    NOTE:  Many Open Source programs have Mac OS X ports.  Sometimes there are actual Mac OS X binaries, and sometimes you have to build them yourself.  There are also services that will do the heavy lifting of installing a ported Open Source app, such as MacPorts.org and FinkProject.org

  • Multi threaded programming

    I am quite new to multi threaded programming.
    The problem I am facing in my code is as follows:
    I can instantiate 1-10 threads from my controller class. For example if my controller class generates 10 threads, 5 threads
    finish the task they are assigned to do(i.e send SMS and Update the Database) and the other 5 threads eventhough send SMS but
    get stuck when they are supposed to update the Database (this is inferred from the logs).
    Due to this problem my controller class remains in a wait state as I am using the join() method and some of the threads never
    join.
    Another interesting observation is that it always happens that the thread numbered 0-5 always get stuck at the exact point
    where database has to be updated and thread number 6-10 complete their task. Same is the case when i instantiate 2 threads, i
    thread completes its task and another thread gets stuck, again at the same point.
    I am using Connection Pooling to connect to the database.
    I am sure that the problem is with the query
    int j=dbObject.execute_pst("UPDATE table SET flag='true' WHERE message IN("+trueFlag+")",con);
    where true flag is a comma seperated string containing some ID's.
    What i cannot understand is why some of the threads (almost 50% of them), work fine with this query and the others get stuck
    (i.e. just wait at this query during runtime)

    The problem must lie in the connection, as the SQL statement is to basic to cause an endless loop inside the DBMS. If you are in doubt, try the setMaxRows() method of the Statement interface, I'm using Sybase and it also limits the number of rows processed in update and delete statements (which I'm pretty sure is buggy, but you can still try it).
    Which DBMS are you using by the way?

  • Thread program: Strange output

    Hi,
    I have written a simple thread program. Previously I was trying to print hello world in the run method, the I changed it to print the value of a static data member, but strangely its still printing hello World. However if I change the print statement in the main method, it is reflected in the output but the changes to the print statement are not. Its always hello World output. I have changed the name of file, recompile it, close the shell window, restarted the computer but always the output is hello world. Can somebody help me with that. My objetive is to prove that data segment is shred in threads.

  • Thread Programming and Condition.Await

    I'm trying to get better acquainted with threaded programming by building a mock music player. It's not going over so well
    What am I doing wrong in the code snipped below? The snippet below is inside the run() method of the MusicPlayer class.
    It seems that it simply doesn't excute as intended. The behavior I want is:
    - When in Off mode: do nothing
    - When in Playing mode: Wait until song finishes, then remove song from playlist (call PlaySong)
    - When in Pause mode: Wait (pauseTimeOut) milliseconds, and if nothing happens, go to Off mode.
    The thread runs fine, but it seems that it waits forever in whatever state it is in.
    I apologize for the weird if statements..
    while (alive) {
                   System.out.println("State: "+state);
                   switch (state) {
                   case Off:
                        System.out.println("System is off");
                        try { cond.await(); }
                        catch(InterruptedException e) { alive = false; }
                        break;
                   case Paused:
                        boolean stillWaiting=true;
                        System.out.println("Waiting..");
                        try { stillWaiting=cond.await(pauseTimeOut, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS); }
                        catch(InterruptedException e) { alive = false; }
                        if(stillWaiting) {
                             //Do nothing
                        } else if (state == States.Paused) {
                             state=States.Off;
                        break;
                   case Playing:
                        System.out.println("Playing..");
                        if(playlist == 0) {
                             state = States.Paused;
                        } else {
                             boolean waitingEndSong=true;
                             try { waitingEndSong=cond.await(songTime, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS); }
                             catch(InterruptedException e) { alive = false; }
                             if(waitingEndSong) {
                                  //Do nothing
                             } else if (state == States.Playing) {
                                  PlaySong();
                             break;
                        try { cond.await(); }
                        catch(InterruptedException e) { alive = false; }
                        break;
                   default:
                        alive = false;
    }

    To get better help sooner, post a SSCCE that clearly demonstrates the problem.
    Use 2 to 4 spaces, not tabs, for indentation. Most members won't take the trouble to read code that is too deeeply indented. I know I don't.

  • An oci program compiled with oracle 9 run in a machine has oracle client 10

    Hello,
    I would like to know if an OCI program compiled with Oracle 9 client libraries can communicate with Oracle 9 and Oracle 8 database servers by using the oracle client 10 on Solaris? Is there any known problem of this combination?
    Many thanks,

    It largely depends on what your program does. If the program uses features which are only available in Oracle 9i and not in Oracle 8i then you are likely to get some errors. For the latter case, ie, compiling the program with Oracle 9 libs and runnig with Oracle 10 libs, talking to 9i server should be fine while 8i server may give you some unexpected behaviour.
    Thanks,
    Sumit

  • Submit Program "Compile value set hierarchies" manually

    We am trying to submit the program "Compile value set hierarchies" manullay through the API , apps.fnd_flex_val_api.submit_vset_hierarchy_compiler, without any success.
    Through the API, the program is submitted however it goes into "Pending" and "Stand By" mode, worse thing is we cannot view this through the front end (EBS).
    Program "Compile value set hierarchies" has a method type of Immediate we cannot sub,it this through the EBS Form manually.
    Is there anything I am missing with the above.
    Also, any suggestions to submit the progarm ""Compile value set hierarchies" manually will be greatly appreciated.

  • DAQ program compiled under Win2k won't run under Win 95.

    When I compile a LabView 5.1.1 vi program that uses lvdaq.dll on my Windows 2000 workstation, that same program will not run on a Windows 95 notebook computer. Error code 21 (external subroutine could not be found) is reported for all standard DAQ vi's calling functions within lvdaq.dll even though the dll can be found in the program directory, the system directory, the vi.lib\daq directory, and via the system path. The same program compiled on a Windows 95 workstation runs on the Windows 95 notebook computer just fine. Why is lvdaq.dll not found when the program is compiled under Windows 2000? Do I need the same version of NI-DAQ on both computers?

    Larry;
    If you are doing NI-DAQ function calls on your VI you need to match the NI-DAQ version on both machines, otherwise, depending on what functions you are calling and what are the NI-DAQ versions, you might get some errors. Just for future reference, this procedure is good for NI-VISA (if you are using VISA VIs) and NI-488.2 (if you are using GPIB boards) as well.
