Mutliple clicks sends me into "group" or "sticky" mode

Hello! Just upgraded to CS3. I know that CS2 had added a very annoying feature people were calling the "sticky box," where multiple clicks on an object would sometimes get you a white box. I would easily get out of this by clicking on something outside of the area. When it attached to images I had to relink or sometimes re-open my document because it would not go away. I know it's intended for selections in a group but often it would attach to single, ungrouped items, which I assumed was a bug. So apparently CS3 has enhanced this very special feature? (Who uses this?)
So in CS3, my entire screen dims, I get a gray bar at the top of the screen that says <Group> with a clickable (back) arrow. The only way I can tell to get out of this feature is to click on the arrow. Is there any way I can disable this?????
My first question is how to turn this off. I always use the direct select tool to select items in a group and it's extremely easy (push "a" and bam), so I see zero benefit to this feature. The only thing it does is annoy me. However...if anyone knows something wonderful about it, let me know!
Thank you so much!!

It's called Group Isolation, and there are some wonderful benefits it offers. But I do also understand how easily it can "get in the way". In CS2 there was no way to disable this functionality, but there is in CS3...
In the General preferences pane, uncheck the box marked "Double click to Isolate".

  • No longer sending emails to Groups

Help, All of a sudden I can no longer send emails to groups. It says the server is not accepting the email.

Well the participants belong to a particular group in the AD and that group is assigned to a role . So if you are trying to access participants in that role, it should automatically try to access participants inside the group in the AD to which the ROLE is assigned to?
If there are participants inside a group in the AD which is synced to ALBPM, should ALBPM auto-detect those participants inside that group and if that group is assigned to a ROLE, should ALBPM auto-detect those participants inside that GROUP and send them emails?
    Am I right?
Also what is id : departmentName over here?
Do we need to exactly specify the group name in the AD?
    My question is :-
Why do we need to hard-code an AD group name into our code because if we say :-
    activity.role.find(name : activity.role.name);
it should find the role for that activity and all participants belonging to that role should be emailed.
Now if these participants are under a group which is assigned to the ROLE, then all participants under that role need to be emailed..
    Doesn't ALBPM automatically detect this?

  • I select photo from iPhoto,go to share:email, photo uploaded to email, type in address, click send, pop up window appears with: email did not go thru because server did not reply - now what, how do I fix?

I select my photos from iPhoto, go to toolbar, click share and email, photo is uploaded onto email screen and I add photo info and type  in my
email address, click send at the bottom of page and it after a minute or two, a pop up appears with the message:  your email did not go through
because your server did not reply.    Have sent the same photo to my email address with no problem just to  doublecheck.  Why will it not
send out to other email addresses?  Thank you.

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the email account that's there.  Now add it back and try again.
A more reliable method is to set Mail as the email Client for iPhoto in iPhoto's General preference pane.  The Mail client is more reliable, gives you better access to your Contacts, gives you a sent copy and has photo themes similar to iPhoto's in its stationary section.

  • How do you get your contacts into groups?

how do you get your contacts into groups?

When you ask a question, please include the version of Mac OS X on your computer. iOS is not a Mac operating system.
Assuming you are running OS 10.9.1:
Open Contacts. Click File in the menu bar and select New Group. Enter the name of the group in Contacts on the left.
Go back to All Contacts (on the left) then drag and drop the names you want in that group on to the folder you just named.
Repeat as necessary for other groups.
Note that the names remain, as they should, in All Contacts, even after you have added them to a group.. You can delete a group if you want. The names will still remain in All Contacts.

  • Apparently when I send to a Group of Contacts they can all see every email address and this is not acceptable how do I avoid that

I need to send to a group of about 50 parents. Their addresses are held in a Group of Contacts. I highlight the group name to distribute a message to all of them and what I am being told is that they can then all see every email address. This is not acceptable as many do not want their email address being made public in this way. Surely this should not happen or at least there should be a way to avoid it.

re: and I quote "they can then all see every email address. This is not acceptable "
I showed you the basic method of sending a group as Bcc - which is what you initially asked for.
As you now specify that not only do you want to know how to use Bcc but every email needs to be personalised - not just distributing a message to all of them, then I would agree with Matt and advise you use Mail Merge. This creates separate emails - not a bulk email to several recipients, so using a TO field will only send to that person - other people will not see other email addresses.
    Matt has offered the link.
Here is some more info regarding Mail Merge.
    '''How to install Add-ons:'''
download the .xpi file to your computer eg: desktop or downloads folder.
    In Thunderbird
    'Tools' > 'Add-ons' OR 'Menu Icon' > 'Add-ons'
click on the gear wheel icon and select 'Install addon from file'
see first image below as aid.
locate the file you downloaded and click on 'Open'
You may need to restart Thunderbird.
Mail Merge will appear in the list.
    see second image below.
'''How to set up a Template emails for Mail Merge:'''
Create a Template email, which contains the 'personalised' sections.
see example - third image below.
I set the Subject as 'Mail Merge' so it is easily identifiable.
Save it as a Template email.
It will get stored in the 'Templates' folder. If you do not see a Templates folder, this is auto created when you create the first email and store as template.
'''When you want to use Mail Merge.'''
    Select the Template folder.
    Select the 'Mail Merge' template
either double click on the email in the list or right click on email and select 'Edit as new message'
you can then change the Subject and compose or edit the message - but do not change the sections in the curly brackets - the point of saving this as a template saves you from typing it each time.
'File ' > 'Mail Merge' (see third image)
This will open a new small window
    see the fourth image below.
I would suggest you use 'Send Later' option . this will put all the emails in your Outbox, but it does allow you to check the email is correct - or do spot checks. Then you can choose to send them all in one go.
Right click on 'Outbox' folder and select 'Send unsent messages'.
    Hope this info helps you.
As you are new to Thunderbird, you may or maynot have managed to locate all your toolbars.
The fifth image shows you how to enable all toolbars to make life much easier.
In addition some very useful info on maintaining a healthy Thunderbird and all about compacting- what it does and why it is important.

  • I would like set up my contacts into groups.

I would like set up my contacts into groups.
There seems to be no way to do this in either iOS or OSX.  Android figured this out and I see no reason why Apple can't give us the capability to group medical contacts for example into an easily accessible group without having to resort to using Dr. as the first part of the last name in order to have them in a convenient group.
There are many posts that ask for this and Apple seems to have no desire to give us something useful in the entire spectrum of software while fiddling around with watches etc.

In the Contacts app in OS X click the "+" at the bottom and choose New Group. Once groups are created just drag the entries into the group list on the left in the Contacts app. You may have to go to the Contacts View menu and click Show Groups.
You cannot create groups in iOS, or assign contacts to groups using the built-in Contacts app. However, there are several 3rd party apps that allow you to move contacts among groups. I use Speed Names, but there are several others that people have told me are easier to use.

  • When emailing a photo from the updated iPhoto, how do I find the CC and BCC button, and how do I send to a group from my address book?

when emailing a photo from the updated iPhoto, how do I find the CC and BCC button, and how do I send to a group from my address book?

The email function from iPhoto is pretty basic. The only Bcc available is to yourself (in iPhoto > Preferences > Advanced), cc: does not appear to be available at all, and it does not appear you can email to a group.
You can change this by going to iPhoto > Preferences > General and next to where it says Email photos using: select Mail. If you do this you have all the options available in Mail including Cc: and Bcc: and the ability to drag a group from Address Book into the mail addresses.
    Best of luck.

  • Mail's behavior on encountering an address error in sending to a group

I routinely send to a group of 100+ addees, broken into three sub-groups because of ISP (Comcast) anti-spam limits on the number of addees.
Several times I have gotten the error message that something is wrong with an address and the post remains in the OutBox.
I have found the error and corrected it but do not know if
    (a) the correctly addressed emails were sent and only the one with the error was held for correction and subsequent sending, or
    (b) only the one with the error was held and the others trashed, or
    (c) they were all held until the error was corrected and all were then sent, or
    (d) none of the above.
I have some inkling that (b) is what happened but I can find no way to determine what Mail actually does upon encountering an address error or what I should do. The programmers must have devised a strategy and I'd appreciate knowing it.
Can someone help me with the logic and what to do when such an error occurs?
BTW, I am using Smart Groups and they seem to work flawlessly if I don't make an error in an address!
    Thanks in advance...
    Bill
dual 2GHz G5 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Plain vanilla computing..

    Ernie, David,
Thank you for the info. I now know that a message addressed to a group is "all or nothing at all," i.e., if one address is incorrect (in my first case, a "." where an "@" should be) everything stops until the error is corrected and then all messages are sent.
There was a second error of a nother nature in another group (about which I can't remember the details, but it was an obvious typo) that generated a different error message (I should have copied both!) and when I cleared it everything also seemed to be sent.
It seems Mail is deliberately designed to be tolerant of us mortals, giving us a chance to correct a hitherto unknown error and then going about its business. Nice design.
I'll let you know if I run into other problems. And you can be sure I'll be more careful when importing addresses into Mail.
Thank you very much for your kind help.
    All the best,
    Bill

  • Divide any 12 months into group of 3 months

    Hi,
I have a report where in my report fetches previous 12 months data. Previous means previous from current month. So if report is run in Feb-2014 it fetches data from Feb-2013 to Jan-2014.
Now, I need to divide this span of Months into group of 3 months. Like:
    02/2013 - 04/2013
    05/2013 - 07/2013
    08/2013 - 10/2013
    11/2013-  01/2014
How can it be achieved.. Any inputs please..
I am working on CR for Enterprise 4
    Thanks..

If the source wasn't a Universe, here's what you would do:
    1) Find out of the Minimum Date from the  records returned by the query. To do this, go to the Database Options on the Top > Show SQL Query > Copy. Let's assume the copied sql looks like this:
    Select table.date, table.field1, table.field2 from Table where <condition>
    2) Go to the Database Expert > Under the Connection Name, click Add Command > Paste the copied SQL and modify that to:
Select Min(table.date) as Minimum from Table where <condition>
    2) Go to the Database Expert and make sure these two tables are Not Joined on any field
    3) Create a formula with this code:
    If Month({Date}) IN
    [Month({Command.Minimum}),Month(DateAdd('m',1,{Command.Minimum})),
    Month(DateAdd('m',2,{Command.Minimum}))] then 1
    else If Month({Date}) IN [Month(DateAdd('m',3,{Command.Minimum})),Month(DateAdd('m',4,{Command.Minimum})),
    Month(DateAdd('m',5,{Command.Minimum}))] then 2
    else If Month({Date}) IN
    [Month(DateAdd('m',6,{Command.Minimum})),Month(DateAdd('m',7,{Command.Minimum})),
    Month(DateAdd('m',8,{Command.Minimum}))] then 3
    else If Month({Date})
    IN
    [Month(DateAdd('m',9,{Command.Minimum})),Month(DateAdd('m',10,{Command.Minimum})),
    Month(DateAdd('m',11,{Command.Minimum}))] then 4
Replace {Date} with the Date field from the existing table and {Command.Minimum} with the field from the Command Object that we added
    4) Go to the Group Expert > Add this formula to the Group list.
    That's it!
If you have access to the Universe, you can create a Dimension Object that gets Minimum Date from the query. You can then create another Dimension object using Case Statements that uses the 'Minimum' object to number each row as 1,2,3 or 4. You can then simply group on this new object inside the report.
    Hope this helps.

  • Send Email to group not working

Using MOSS 2007 SP1, I am creating a SPD workflow and one of the actions is a Email action.
If I have it send the e-mail to my email address, it works.
I created an Active Directory security group and put myself in the group.
If I have it send the email to the Active Directory group, which appears in the lookup list for the To: field, I do not get the e-mail.  There are no errors in the logs.
I created a Sharepoint Group and put myself in the group.
if I have it send the email to the Sharepoint Group, which appears in the lookup list for the To: field, I do not get the e-mail.  There are no errors in the logs.
Why wouldn't the e-mails to the groups work?  Both of those methods should work, shouldn't they?

    Hello,
If you are integrating your MOSS with Exchange server 2007 to send out-going email then please try the following steps to fix your problem:
    1.       Go to Exchange Management Console -> Recipient Configuration -> Distribution group.
    2.       Right-click on the problem group and choose properties.
    3.       On the Mail Flow Settings tab, double click on Message Delivery Restrictions.
    4.       Uncheck the check box "Require that all senders are authenticated".
Have a try and see the effect.
             Hope it can help you,

  • 'Send email to group' is not working

I have just made a group in address book. As far as I can tell, I have made it in exactly the same way as all my other groups. However, when I right click on the group name, and choose 'send email to group', it opens a window with nothing in the To: field. I've tried restarting the app, restarting the computer, and even creating the group again, but still it doesn't work.
All other groups made before this still work fine: when I choose 'send email to group' the To: field is filled with recipients's addresses.
This is a real problem for me as I use this feature all the time. I'd appreciate any help.

Seems to be working now. I don't know what was wrong before.

I can't send or receive group texts after I updated my phone. I do get "get media content now" but nothing happens when I click it.

    Hi, @ImSqueakaFied.

Good job on your very first post, by the way!

  • OVI Suite messaging - can't send to a group?

This feature was available in PC Suite. Why was it removed, together with the excellent messaging in PC Suite 7?

Pl. provide your Device details. Also whether you want to send SMS to Group directly thru' the phone or thru' OVI suite..?
Check if your phone has this...
Open Messaging-->New Message when you are in the TO field..goto Options-->Add Recipient..now there should be 2 tabs at the top of the Contacts list that opens.. Select the one for the Group and you will see the Groups that you might have created...
Note that this depends on what phone you have...
If thru' OVI Suite then confirm that the latest version is installed on PC.. Connect the phone to PC and open Messaging in OVI Suite.. Type your message in the 3rd window (..extreme Right) and click on Add Recipient.. at the bottom of the list you will see the Groups listed..

  • Disapearing email when clicking send if webmail has timed out

    Help
I was typing an email in webmail as I am using my pc at work. The mac webmail timed out without a warning message. When I clicked send, the email I was trying to send evaporated and I get the error message that the webmail has timed out.
The email I was typing is not in my drafts and is not showing as having been sent after I relogged into webmail.
The explorer page that I was typing the email into now has no back buttons or normal header with options to click on.
    Where has my email gone?
Is there a way to recover it from temporary files on this pc? I have no idea where to look.
I have lost a major amount of writing and editing.

If you have updated Thunderbird lately check your system firewall and see if Thunderbird is being blocked. Major version updates, like v24 to v31, have a tendency to get blocked.
If that is not the case check your server settings and see if they match what your provider is looking for. They might have changed something and you need to match those changes.
