Mux 1 out of 4 (or 1 out of 8)

i saw here an example of
3 color boolean, and i want to use it.
its input is numeric.
my question is, how do i implement
a mux of 1 out of 4 (or 1 out of 8)
to use this example.
i attached here the example VI and a jpg
to explain my question
thanks in advance

Hello israelsze1,
just add more cases to the example and change the color to your needs.
If you need much more states you could use an array with all the color values and pick a "case" out of the array by "Index Array"-function. Then you need to check the range of your numeric input (InRange/Coerce or Quotient/Remainder).

  • Encoding error- Muxing bit rate too high

    hi,
i am trying to burn my project which has 2 videos of 10 minutes each.
one of those videos has 19 subtitled tracks and simple sub-menus. All the video was encoded in compressor and i tried both a VBR and CBR. I am only using audio that is AC3. For bit rate setting i am using 6 and a max at 7. The muxing craps out about 33% though. When i open the last file in MPEG Clipstream, i can see it dumps out at about 8 minutes but there is nothing on any of the subtitle streams that appears out of place. Total project is under 1 gig in terms of space so i am not sure why i having problems. i also posted this on the dvdsp forum but so far, no one has been able to help solve the issue. please help. thanks.

    Eric suggested:
"Try trashing your preference and getting rid of any PAR file associated with the disc and rebuild. Delete your old asset from the import window and trash it on your computer as well. If that doesn't work I would build the project from scratch and try again. Im looking for the data rates for a subtitle but I cant find it right now. But 6 mb/s CBr should be good."
What happened when you tried this?

  • Backing up ISDN with PPPoE over Ethernet

I have a router connecting to a Fleet77 which presents two interfaces, ISDN BRI and ethernet.
The client wishes to use the ISDN as the prime interface to their ISP with the ethernet (20k) as a backup if the ISDN fails.
Anyone got an ideas on the best way to configure this.
mux's out a sat link via ISDN (BRI) and PPPoE over Ethernet(supports 20k).

Yes, you are correct. In this case, you can use below example to configure the "dialer-watch".
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1828/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800872ed.html
However, as I remember, I don't need the dialer-watch and still work, but I am sorry that I forget the way and can't test it at the momnet.
    Hope this helps.

  • Encore2 Running Out of Space on DVD-5's

I have a Project that is to be a 3-DVD set. These must be DVD-5's, as the clients machines will not play DVD-9. I am running into two little problems.
    First, the Project:
All Assets are DV-AVI from PP2. These are basically slideshows with a few MOV files added in, and simple Cross-dissolves, plus pan & zoom on each still image. Unfortunately, the Assets have grown to the max. I anticipate very slight growth before final (back in the NLE part of things).
DVD-01 consists of five Timelines: 1 very short Play First going to Main Menu and four much longer Timelines. Main Menu, Scene Selection Menu and Button Transitions to these Timelines, plus a Play All Playlist from Main Menu. There is Audio on both Menus.
DVD-02 consists of thirteen Timelines: 1 very short Play First going to Main Menu and twelve Timelines of varying length. Main Menu, Scene Selection Menus of four Timelines each, and Button Transitions to these Timelines, plus a Play All Playlist from Main Menu. There is Audio on all Menus.
DVD-03 consists of six Timelines: 1 very short Play First going to Main Menu, four much longer Timelines and one Credits Timeline. Main Menu, Scene Selection Menu and Button Transitions to these Timelines, plus a Play All Playlist from Main Menu. There is Audio on both Menus.
    Now, for my two problems.
First problem: Even using Encore2's automatic Transcoding, these three DVDs are just barely over the limit for a DVD-5. Not much, but Im getting errors. Question: Ive got DVDShrink, but have never been too pleased with how it handles full DVDs (Menus and all). It seems to be more useful for *other* things. Does anybody know of a similar program that does a good job of very slightly compressing from an ISO, or DVD folder? Obviously, Im most interested in total functionality of the navigation. None of my Assets has much motion, except for slow pans & zooms, plus the Transitions. In lieu of that, my next request would be for some guidance on setting the Transcodes manually. The one problem that I have with using my limited bit-budgeting experience (via various bit-budgeting calculators) is trying to figure the overhead of these Menus and their Button Transitions. Does anyone have a good rec. for DV-AVIs of just pan & zoom stills with Cross-dissolve Transitions?*
Second problem: The Play First is a tiny 04 sec. lead-in with SFX Audio transitioning to the Main Menu. Ive never done any lead-in this short, so maybe that is the problem. In the burned DVD (three set-top players), I get that black couple of frames, that we see in Preview, but disappear on the burned DVD. In my case, its still there, and *seems* longer actually, than it appears in preview. If people feel that its too short, I can add a Title, prior to the fade-in of the still of the Main Menu. Obviously, with problem #1, I dont want to increase the size of any of these more than I absolutely have to.
    Thanks for your thoughts,
    Hunt
    * I am also exploring doing a 4 DVD set, but the Timelines constitute major chapters in the Project. To separate them to span 4 DVDs will be tougher, than it might at first appear. Still, if it gets down to it, I can always re-do the Button Transitions, etc. My big problem will be with the scripting of the entire Project. Id rather keep it to 3, as there is a natural break, but all of my headroom is gone and I do not even have my Audio added yet. The DVD set that I am finishing up now is just for final editing. As I said, I anticipate that each Asset will probably grow very slightly. Life is never easy.

    Neil,
Thank you for that information. I was having some problems with Menu Audio & Button Transition Audio:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b76269/18
Jbowden pointed out the problem with mixing Audio sources at the Menu level. In the tests, where I got everything to play properly, you Timelines were silent (at this stage in the Project). The Menu & Transition Audio was PCM/WAV, and played perfectly, when burned. Your comments now point me to another test, that I must run. I had not gotten to that one, just yet, but between your's and Joe's comments see why most of my other tests failed. Hopefully, I can now say that "I see the light."
For this Project, I now believe that I'll be doing only stereo for the main Audio, and can output to DD in AC3. I'll also change my Menu Audio and my Transition Audio to the exact same, DD stereo in AC3.
Thank you for pointing out that it is just the runtime, that I need to calculate my Menus' & Transitions' overhead. For the Menus, I assume that their runtime will be based on their Audio, which will be 30sec.
Many thanks to you, Joe and Ruud, for helping me through this. I have one request: if you have a second, would you take a look at the link to the other post (above), and comment on the aspect of linking Button Transitions to Timeline? I've seen several printed references to doing it that way, but cannot get a Timeline to link to a Button Transition. My success came from just using a muxed Asset. I *think* that the authors of those references just got it wrong, but it could still be OE on my part.
    Greatly appreciated,
    Hunt

  • Apple's DVD Player: audio in-sync. External DVD Player: audio out of sync

I exported my Sequence from FCP to QT, used compressor to make m2v and ac3 (Dolby) files, then used DVD SP to burn a DVD.
When I play the DVD on my Mac Pro using Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC, the audio is in sync with respect to the images, FCP's Canvas and FCP's QT export.
But when I play the DVD using any of three different external DVD players, the audio momentarily drifts out of sync by 30 to 40 frames, near the end of my 30-minute program, but is back in sync after about a minute, when the shot at hand ends and the next shot begins.
More specifically, it's as if the video lags by about 30 to 40 frames, but there is no stuttering or other obvious visual sign that this is happening.
Why would Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC play the audio in sync while these external DVD Players play it out of sync?
I should add that in order to verify that the TVs to which the external DVD players are attached are not the source of the problem, I monitored the audio using headphones connected directly to the audio outputs of the DVD Players as well as connected to the headphone jacks of the TVs, and there was no difference, i.e. in both cases, the audio drifts out of sync momentarily, as I describe above.
I can only think that DVD SP is muxing the m2v and ac3 file in such a way that software DVD players can demux it without difficulty, but hardware DVD players cannot.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

Please tell us what was wrong.

  • Final outputed file is out of sync w/ audio

the audio is in sync with the video on the timeline play thru....so then I output to H.2641080p 24 ...AAC audio out...but then the finished .mp4 is out of sync by a mili second or so...what can I do? thx.

Is the Audio source muxed MPEG?
I have encountered similar, and what makes it insidious is that when the Timeline is played, things seem to be in good sync. Export introduces some OOS.
When I first encountered this, I tried timing the OOS in the Export, and then altering the sync in the Timeline. However, no matter how much I "adjusted" it, there always seemed to be OOS upon Export.
The best that I ever found was to rip the Audio, and then do a Save_As to PCM/WAV, replacing the muxed Audio stream. In all but two instances (never did get those into perfect sync), that worked OK, though did require the additional steps.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - while it is only a theory, since there is a different block size with MPEG Audio vs MPEG Video, I suspect that might account for some of the issues. However, that does NOT explain why the Timeline seems good, but Export is not, other than a compounding of the block size differential. Also, with a muxed file, I would think that the differences in Encoding would NOT exist, as they would with separate Audio and Video streams. I have never heard a good theory on WHY PrPro has issues with muxed MPEG. Maybe Colin can come up with one? BTW - Encore has issues too.

  • Pulling video and audio out of ts folder

    Hi,
My client wants me to correct a mistake on their DVD. Unfortunately they do not have the original master tapes, leaving me only with a DVD. Does anyone know how I can extract those m2v files with audio so I can work with them in After Effects?
Is their a program out there? Thanks in advance.
    -Frank

Chris, are you sure there's no 'copy protection', CSS or other stuff on the DVD ... i.e.what's its heritage/how was it created etc... ?
when you say 'can't get any other program to recognize these files'.. do you mean mplayerX, mpegstreamclip, VLC, QT, FFMPEGx, Gumby, mediapipe, simplemovie, DVDBackup & similar tools (for the DVD)...as well as QT pro & QT-based tools ? (there are a lot of players, decoders & converters about....
I generally use one tool to go from DVD structures to disk then use different tools on the files according to my goals...
BUT: i think everyone who works with this stuff'd agree that
b we need a hardy, general-purpose 'fix mpegs to compliant' tool for MPEGs on Macs (for use pre-quicktime)
    i.e. a decoder/player with a 'pass-through' exporter which allows 'clean data' through
    b without
recompressing audio and video because in almost every case where I've had the time to really look at the data, 99% is OK but the data has 'glitches' in it: bunches of binary zeroes from sloppy programming, junk After valid header/data chunks but before the next header from improper 'split & Join routines, lost timecode/data ... and so on... (You'll see 50MB mpeg files that QT info says are 10 secs long at "10MBps"...when they are 30 mins long - at the much lower correct data rate - which seems to suggest that the 'info' is obtained by a bum calculation in QT rather than by ref to info in the file & other headers. When played in VLC, mPlayerX etc. they generally play OK -i.e. for the 30 mins).
The trick is to get the output of one of these into a useable file on disk... without transcoding which is why de-MUXing and remuxing can be a good way to go..many of the tools discard bad data and/or reconstitute correct formats etc. mpegstreamclip is very promising, but it isn't clear just when it's transcoding.. and 'save' and 'save as' seem to often fail due to an apparent programming bug. [e.g. if you input m2v/m2a it'll often fix data & TC Breaks (great work!).. but you have to use 'export to/convert to/demux to for output := even if the target is 'm2v/m2a' same as input, you 'convert to' m2v/m2a.. which is not outstandingly intuitive ... grin
    best wishes,

  • Mpg files put into final cut pro 6 come out blurry in Quicktime export.

I'm a noob. I'm trying to make a compilation of mpg files. My students created animations in Blender. I want to put a video together to showcase their talents.
Everything I've tried with FCP 6 and mgs come out blurry.
    Mpg Dimensions are 640 x 480. Codecs: MPEG2 Muxed
Should I be working in 720x480?
    Thanks

You can't really use MPEG 2 files in Final Cut Pro -it's not an editing codec.
A list of compatible codecs can be found in FCP's Easy Setup menu.
Is MPEG 2 the only export option from Blender? I'm am not familiar with the product.

  • 16 bit linear footage bleached out after render

    hey there,
i got a linear 16-bit multipass-layered psd sequence which i imported to after effects.
the ae-project is set to 16 bpc working space "sRGB" and "linearize workflow" on.
it looks great in after effects. i even got rid of extreme banding in ram preview (pref/previews/col-man to "more accurate").
but when i render my tweaked comp to quicktime, it appears extremely washed out:
i tried animation codec as well as h264, both in 100% quality.
only when i checked "preserve RGB" in the color management of the output module, it was not washed out. instead it looked somehow too dark. much better then the bleached version, but still not right.
    what do i do wrong?
    tyvm!!
edit: sometimes only the first few frames are "washed out" and the rest is fine... o_O

Footage looks and sounds great (sync is good) in iMovie 6 ... such as trying the same footage freshly inported into Final Cut Exp just to see if that would effect the outcome...nada!
Since you posted in the iMovie '08 area, specifically mention importing to both iMovie '06 and Final Cut, and specifically state the iMovie '06 sync was "good" when imported/captured, my initial assumption would be that you problem is not one of source "sampling." Basically, if the DV content is "in sync" on the camera and "in sync" when captured by one or more editors, then it would appear that the camcorder and import modules are both working correctly as this is when you should first see any sampling problem show up.
Since you indicate the final product -- the DVD -- is out of sync, then I would look at the intermediate files next to see if they are out of sync. If so, then you have a problem in the file output phase of your work flow and if not, then the problem is likely in the conversion/muxing of content in iDVD which could be the result of a bad install, update, or settings in applications or core system. Depending on your work flow, I would try opening either the "Media Browser", "Shared iDVD", or exported file in the QT Player and see if it displays the same synchronization problem as the final DVD. If not, would normally assume the data being received by iDVD is good which, as I indicated above, would point to a problem in converting the data to MPEG-2 and "muxing" it properly with the linear PCM (AIFF) converted audio. Have you tried inspecting the VOB file info in an application like VLC or MPEG Streamclip to see if anything is obviously askew or tried burning the DVD with an alternative application like Toast?

  • Function SCAN_Op times out but it's not consistent.

I have a PXI 1000B chassis connected to a SCXI 1001 via a PXI6031E MIO card. I have 6 1102c modules plugged into the SCXI chassis. Each module is connected to a BNC 2095 (where my field inputs come in)I have it setup to mux 192 channels into one A/D. I wrote a small program in LabWindows to get familiar with setting up the scan list. The function SCAN_Op times out but not consistently. I have included my code. Can you suggest anything?
    Thank you.

    Hello;
The best way to start the development of your application is to take a look at the NI-DAQ shipping examples at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\examples\VisualC\SCXI.

  • Can DVDSP export out QT files??

    Hi
I having real troubles with getting the correct file from my captioning house for subtitles for a QT file for use via computer and data projector.
I wanted to be able to put subtitles on a file and export it out as a QT and also as WMV as my client uses PC.
They originally sent an XML, is this the best file to use? but it is not syncing up, their file is too long, but it may be something to do with the frame rate??
Anyway, they have now sent a .STL file, which also won't sync up in DVDSP. What they also said is, if this file works in DVDSP, then I would be able to export out a QT file. Is this possible from DVDSP, and if so, how do I do it??
Any help would be really appreciated as I'm overdue on this project and getting nowhere with just trying to put subtitles on a FCP project !!! silent scream.
    Cheers, Margie

I believe you can export video including subtitles - but not as a quicktime file if it isn't already one. I've only ever worked with MPEG-2 files in DVD SP but my understanding is that it will not do encoding, only muxing and exporting videos as the existing file type they are already in.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I hope this at least brings you a little bit closer to a solution!

  • QT Pro 7 - trying to export .mpg to .flv - "export audio" option grayed out

I've opened an .mpg video in Quicktime Pro 7 and am trying to export it to Flash video. It exports successfully, but the audio (present in the original .mpg) is missing in the exported .flv file.
Investigating, when I try to export, I've clicked "options", went to the "audio" tab and found that the checkbox for "encode audio" is grayed out and unchecked. The format listed in this grayed-out window is MPEG layer III (MP3) - which I think isn't correct; this video I'm exporting is an MPEG version 1 file, with layer 2 audio.
Help! What can I do to sucessfully export video with audio?

QuickTime has never supported audio export from muxed file formats.
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert your .mpg to other QuickTime formats (it doesn't export to .flv) and then export that new file to Flash.

  • IMovie will not load avi/wmv videos, leaves sound out of mpg/mpeg videos

When i load mpg and mpeg videos into iMovie, the videos come out fine, but leave the sound out for some reason. There is no sound clip that is loaded with it. And when it comes to loading "avi" videos, it loads them, but they are blank. It loads a black video clip with no sound. And when it comes to downloading "wmv" videos it stops and says there was an error. This is the message it sends me. "The file could not be imported: The file “Macintosh HD/Volumes/Maxtor Extra Storage/WTC VIDEOS/WMV/911.wtc.2.no.base.smoke.wmv” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048".
If you know anything about this, have an answer, or even a suggestion, I would greatly appreciate a response from you. My computer model is a Mac OSX 10.0 and I currently have iLife 06 with iMovie HD. Thanks a lot.
    Mike

    Hello Mike,
MPEG video has muxed audio streams, which iMovie doesn't like - you'll have to convert.
Find some more info in Dan Slagle's Unofficial iMovie FAQ:
    1. Can't hear audio in iMovie when I import an MPEG clip
    http://www.danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/tips_tricks/6030.shtml
    2. Using Mpeg (DVD) footage

and also on Matti Haveri's website: How can I edit MPEG or convert DVD or MPEG to DV

    Apple MPEG2 PlayBack:

AVI is a container (like Quicktime's .mov) and contain various codecs. In order to know how to convert, you'll need to find out what exact codec has been used. A possibility is that it's one of the numerous DivX codecs.
FFmpegX converts various AVI and DivX file types:

WMV files can be played with Flip4Mac, in order to convert them you'll need to get the $$ pro-version ....

    hope this helps

  • Audio goes out of sync when Blu-ray folder is exported from Encore CS6

I compile a project in Encore using H.264 and .wav files. The audio plays fine directly from the timeline. It also plays fine when I preview it from Encore. When I finally export it as a set of Blu-ray folders, the audio exports out of sync with the video. It is approximately 6-7 seconds ahead of the video. What am I doing incorrectly? When I mux the files into an .MKV, the video is in sync with the audio so I know the files themselves do not have different start times.
I am running with an HP Z820 with Windows 7, 64-bit OS and 16GB RAM.

For anyone who's interested, I found a solution to this problem. Once imported into Encore, the leader in on the video and audio files cannot be trimmed at all. (I had been trimming the beginning of the video and matching audio file to eliminate the 8 seconds of dead space at the start of the clips.) Although the trim took effect immediately in the Encore timeline and I could also watch it in preview in sync, exporting was another story. The audio track seems to retain the trim when exporting but the video track does not, hence the 6-7 second delay between audio and video.
I reimported the files to my project and left in the 8 seconds of dead space at the start and voila! The video and audio match up when exported.
Ideally the trim tool would just work as its supposed to through export and all, but at least I found a solution I can work with.
(As a note, the trim works just fine in export on Encore CS5. I only had this problem with Encore CS6.)
