My battery life at a full 100% charge is about 2 hours 22 minutes (backlight and key lights at lowest level). Should I go complaining to Apple or do I just need different software? I've only had my mac book since August 2011. The battery dies in 2 to 3 hours with some web surfing (little video play) and photo editing etc. I really don't feel like taking my computer all the way to the apple store to wait there for 5 hours to hear that I need to call someone blah blah blah. Any advice? (BTW Safari hasn't been working since I last updated my mac, WHYYYY?)

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then see if placing the iPod in airplane mode when in standby helps.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Sounds like it may need to be replaced. Contact Apple.

Screen orientation lock.  Double click the home button to bring up the recent app bar.  Then finger swipe left-to-right to bring up the iPod controls.  The icon on the far left (circle with lock in it) is the orientation lock button - press it, and the lock will go away.

  • TS2634 The battery life on my new iPad is only about five hours when apple claim ten hours is this normal

The battery life on my new iPad is only about five hours when apple claim ten is this normal

Apple's note on 10 hours: Battery life varies by use and configuration; see www.apple.com/batteries for more information.
Check out here for battery saving tips: http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
Keeping screen brightness at 50% or less is one of the easiest ways to conserve battery. Turn off Bluetooth and LTE if not in use is also useful.

  • HT4310 I have the ipod shuffle. It only holds a charge for about 45 minutes.  Is this normal or do I need to change something with the settings?

I have the ipod shuffle.  It only holds a charge for about 45 minutes.  Is this normal?

It's not "normal," but lithium batteries wear out over time and eventually are not able to hold a charge, and that is "expected."
So, if the iPod shuffle is a few years old, and you used it a lot, the battery may be worn out.  If it's brand new (or less than one year from purchase date, you should have it checked under warranty.

  • HT4623 Hi!My iPAD lost its charge fast !!I've got an iPAD capacity 57,1GB and it has available 55,1GB ,version 7.0.4 .I'd like to know how long does the battery last when it is 100 % charged.

Hi!I've just installed the iOS 7.0.4 operating system and the battery lost its charge at an incredibly speed.I'd like to know how long does the battery last if everything is right when it has 100% charge. Thanks!

I`m `propping` up this thread to to the top of the forums again as it`s been three months and not a single community member or Apple support personnel have replied, which I find discouraging.
I`ve tried everything - both the iOS device(s) and Apple TV have been upgraded (albeit reluctantly) to the latest versions, since iOS 7 looks like crap compared to iOS 6. Both use the same WiFi network. Bluetooth is set to `off`, as per the online tutorials on the Apple Support page.
I also tried shutting all of them down, including the router, waiting 30 seconds and turning the router, then the Apple TV then the iOS device on sequentially with 30 seconds in between each, again as per this discussion forum, and still nothing.
Why can Apple not make a technology, such as AirPlay, work with greater than 10%?
    Any other ideas?
    Come on, people.
    Thanks,
    Doug

  • IPad battery life meter stuck at 100% since 5.1 install

My iPad 1 battery life meter has been stuck on 100% since the 5.1 update, even though I have used it for many hours and done a power cycle a few times. Update was done through iTunes.

I guess I spoke too soon...
Doing the reset took it from sticking on 100% to now being stuck on 98% for the last 4 hours. Is there a known problem with the 5.1 update and the battery percentage indicator?

  • HT1476 i heard that if you let the battery drain to zero that it could hurt the battery life (like if it goes to zero the battery life would go down from like maybe 10 hours, to 8 hours. just an example.) is this true because ive been worried about my bat

i really want all my devices working at full capacity especially the battery and i want more info on the care of it. like should i charge a device for a specific time the first time i get it, and if its ok to let a battery go to zero and if overcharging is bad. by the way i have an ipod nano 5g, ipod shuffle 4g an ipod touch 4g, an iphone 5s, a ps vita, a surface rt, and im planning to get a macbook pro. ive had some of these devices for a while and some are fairly new. i really want to make these devices last and i dont want to have to replace them for any reason.
    please help and thanks.

It is not good for Lithium chemistry batteries to become fully discharged, however, iPads, iPhones and iPods will shut off before the battery is fully drained. That is, when the phone goes from 1% to 0% and shuts off there is still plenty of charge on the battery. However, you should not let it sit for a long time after it shuts off, as the phone still uses some power even in this state. So if the phone shuts off due to low power you should charge it within a day or two.
You also cannot overcharge an iDevice. The charger is actually in the device; it is not the adapter that you plug into the wall. That is just a 5 volt power source. And the charger in the device will stop charging when the device reaches full charge.
One advantage of Lithium batteries is that they have no "memory effect". That is, you don't have to fully drain them before charging, and you can connect them to a charger at whatever the current state of charge, and remove them from the charger if necessary before they reach full charge. None of these activities will shorten the life of the battery.
It is a good idea to run the battery all the way down, then charge to 100% every month or so. But this is to recalibrate the battery gauge, it is not to "condition" the battery.

  • Any fix to the battery life issue from upgrading to IOS 6.0.2, as my battery life has gone from 2 days to 4 hours since 'upgrading'??

I purchased my Iphone 5 on the day of release, since then I have had a 2 day battery life on average, since upgrading to IOS 6.0.2, the battery struggles to last for 4 hours, is there any solution or fix??  If not any idea when this will be fixed??  Is there anyway to revert back to IOS 6.0.1?
    HELP!!!

It is unlikely that this problem has anything to do with iOS 6.0.2. It is possible that the update process itself has caused some settings on your iPhone to become corrupted.
Here are some steps to deal with this:
    1. Close all apps (use the app switcher; double tap home, press and hold an icon, click the "-" signs)
    2. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. (Does NOT delete apps or any data; just resets network/iOS settings)
    3. Wait for iPhone to restart.
    4. Charge iPhone up to 100% and monitor.

  • IPod Touch Goes from 100% Charge to 20% within minutes

My iPod Touch is a little over two years old.  It is now going from 100% battery charge to 20% within minutes of usage.  However, when I plug it in to charge, the battery shows that it almost fully charged.  Yet when I unplug it, it will immediately say the battery is at 20% again.  Is the battery at it's end, or is this a different kind of issue causing the problem?

First try to reset your iPod and if that does not work, try restoring it to a backup and finally to factory settings.  If that does not solve the problem, your battery is probably a goner.  Two years is short, but not unusual; my battery failed after a little less than two years.  Apple will replace your iPod with a refurbished one for $79 (USA) or you could do a Google search on "replace iPod battery" for a local or on line repair place that will replace the battery for less. You can even find a replacement battery (same search) and install it yourself if you're up to it.
