Hi, Pammie47.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Troubleshooting battery life can be tricky as usage and other factors play a role in how long the battery will last throughout a day. Here is some helpful information that may help increase your battery life.

Even when I charge my Mac Pro to the full bar, the battery seems to be drained even when I am not using it. Example, after charging it full, i switched it on the next day and its 79% battery left. Is there something wrong? help please
Assuming you are disconnecting from line power, when you say switched on, do you mean it was shutdown or in sleep mode? If sleep mode the battery will still drain because sleep still keeps some things active and the battery does drain a little. However, to go from 100% to 79% charge overnight is a bit excessive in sleep mode. Unless you have some processes set to activate over night by the cron file and do things like backup the system.
What are the statistics on the battery, the apple in the upper left corner, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Power...things like battery Condition, Capacity, remaining charge, voltage, current. -
hy, does anyone know why my computer doesn't recognise my iphone? I can't seem to make it see the personal hot spot any suggestions? thanks
Did you update to iOS 7? If yes you need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1
If you are using iTunes 11.0 and iOS 6.x then show the left sidebar in iTunes.
When in iTunes on your computer use the View menu to View Sidebar. The device should show up there when connected. -

In Console messages I was finding the following along with error -1708:
.sdef warning for argument 'FileType' of command 'save' in suite 'Standard Suite': 'saveable file format' is not a valid type name.
So, I thought I'd change the save line as follows:
save document 1 as "QuickTime movie" in thePath
While this didn't solve the problem, it threw an error and allowed the script to continue with the error dialog rather than hang.
Interestingly, though, the Snow Leopard machine seems to register the same error and yet still manages to save the file correctly.
Any thoughts?

Also Mountain Lion doesn't have the timer for the the Battery life, only percentage. How can amount of battery time be shown permently?
The removable battery problem is called progress or more accuratety alleged progress. It is cheaper to install a bare battery pack than to provide space for the cased removable variety. More compact and flatter laptop cases need the extra room that a removable battery occupied. It also weighs less with no case. Cooling can be a problem with higher performance options in these crowded environments.
To me the ultra lightness and compactness of the new laptops is of secondary importance compared to performance and reliability. -

I will admit right off that I am a newb. I have done some programming with C++ but I have just started with JAVA.
here is the problem. I am writing a program for a course I am in and I have it basically put together but no matter what I do I cant seem to figure out the correct input command to retrieve keystrokes.
I will post the source code and then the error from netbeans 4.1 debug report:

I've exported photos from Lightroom 5 from my laptop to my wife's desktop. The photos arrive as Archive and she's unable to do anything with them, such as catalog them in an IPhoto folder with other photos. Is there an adjustment I need to make when exporting from Lightroom 5 so we can avoid this problem? Thank you.
Sorry - this is the iPhoto for Mac support forum - Your question does not involve iPhtoo for the Mac in any way - you need to contact Adobe or use an Adobe LR support forum for LR support

I can't seem to upload cover photos to FB from iPhoto, any suggestions on how to fix it?
I use iPhoto '11. I have Facebook connected to my iPhoto library. I am able to upload photos to new albums and change my profile photographs. However, I am not able to change my cover photos anymore. I was able to select a photo, go to "share", select "Facebook" and then select "Cover Photos" but last week, this last step wasn't an option anymore, I could only either select an existing album, change profile photo or create a new album. Not sure what the issue is - I even deleted Facebook and reconnected the account on iPhoto but no luck. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.
For Mavericks you need to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1.
You cannot buy this version from the AppStore, since the current version is iPhoto 9.6, and that requires Yosemite. The easiest route for you would be to upgrade to Yosemite. Then you can simply buy the newest version of iPhoto from the App Store and can use iCloud Photo Library (iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ), once it has been release for the Mac as well early next year.
If you want to stick with Mavericks, you'll have limited iCloud features, only the Photo Streams (iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ), but no iCloud Drive (iCloud Drive FAQ) and iCloud Photo Library. And to upgrade iPhoto you need to buy an iPhoto '11 installer. It comes as part of iLife '11. You can try to buy a boxed version from Amazon or try to find it at eBay. Once installed on Mavericks, download the iPhoto '11 updaters from the apple Support Downloads page. -

Hi Bill in Normal,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
What happens when you try to sync? Do you get an error message? I'm including for you below the basic information for syncing with iTunes. You can also download any items you've purchased from the iTunes Store directly to your iPhone.
iTunes: Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7

Incoming email to my iMac is incredibly slow - yet the emails download quickly to my iPhone - any suggestions? Thanks
This is an update from mariefromarnold:
I am now unable to download email to both my iMac and my MacBook Pro. I have accessed my verizon.net account directly and all of the emails are there. The issue appears to be that the messages will not download to either of these machines - they do download directly to both iPhones. Any suggestions? Thanks -
MacBook Air 2013 battery drains quickly while in sleep mode
I just purchased a 13" mid-2013 MacBook Air this week, and so far everything is working well - a remarkable improvement over my 2007 MacBook! But, I've noticed that the battery seems to drain very quickly while in sleep mode. For example, it drained 10% over five hours. I've turned off bluetooth and made sure that the PowerNap option is not selected under Energy Saver preferences. And the battery health/capacity seems to be good. Are there other things that I should turn off/check out? Has anyone else experienced this? Is this even abnormal for the battery to drain at this rate while in sleep mode? Thank you!!

I have a 10 month old X230 with a 6 cell 44+ battery. I am finding that it seems to drain quite quickly - more so than when it was new. I am getting about 2.5 hours of use - and am also noticing that when in sleep mode, it seems to drain quite a bit. Overnight last night it went from a full charge - to 91% just while on sleep - nothing was used or running.
I am running Win 7 Home Premium, have a USB (not Bluetooth) mouse attached that I turn off before sleep, screen brightness on around 8.
Any suggestions on what to check or change woud be appreciated.
Thanks!
LHYes - in the cmd window with administratior rights. Nothing in that powercfg -devicequery wake_armed - it just goes tot he next command prompt.
Using the powercfg -energy string, I did get a long list, but it looks like these below may be the most useful - display not turing off - though it does when it sleeps, and the USB - though it isn't suspend, it is sleep that seems to be the issue. is this at all helpful? There were a lot of other warnings about something called Platform Timer Resolution and informational strings - and there were other things running when I did that test this time.
My power settings are - Balanced, on battery - dim after 2 minutes, turn off display after 5 minutes, sleep after 20 minutes. Generally I put it to sleep when I am not using it with the FnF4 combo - I usually don't let it just sleep in its own - maybe that is an issue, too?
Let me know if that tells you anything, or if I should try it again.
Thanks for working with me to try to figure this out - it is definitely related to the sleep issue - when it is just on battery and not sleeping, the battery lasts much longer.

Is anyone having problems with the battery drains quickly and the iphone4 heats up in use and in charging after upgrading to 5.1.1?
I have had the same problem but I seem to be getting somewhere to fixing it!!! My battery was going down at 20% an an hour now its 10% with constant use and 5 in standby !!! So improvement all round
First I did a restore then I drained the battery i started to charge it and when it came on I turned the phone off completely and let it charge to 100% I then left it for a couple of hours on charge at 100. I saw no improvement after 1st drain so I repeated the drain battery and charge steps again with the phone turned off when charging and have seen a very big improvement. I am going to do it again tonight and hopefully problem solved!!!!
The next issue is iMessage as that's playing up and wifi drop out
Good luck
