My confusion with logs in iAS 6.5

Hi everybody,
I am very much confused with the log files in iAS 6.5. Bit lengthy, but Kindly go through this slowly and help me in solving the same.
(1) In the settings -> Control Panel -> Services window, i have enabled "Allow Service to Interact with Desktop".
In the admin tool, i have checked "Enable Server Event Log" check box. I have also enabled the option "Log to console" and selected the message type to be "All Messages".
When i did this, i was able to see the logs as console(command prompt windows). When ever i run a jsp/servlet/EJB containing System.out.println() statements, i was able to see the std out messages in the KJS.exe console. What should i do these std out messages in a file rather than a console?

Since, these log files contains the port number of the above mentioned processes, i expected them to be the log files of the processes with corresponding port numbers. For example, ias.10819 to be the log of KJS process, since its port is 10819. Is it correct?
If it is correct, i am not able to see the System.out.println()
messages in this file, though it appears in the console(as mentioned in point 1 ). Why is it?
I want to see all the Std Out messages (which appears in KJS console) in a log file. What should i do for that?
(3) In the iPlanet Application Server Administration guide (Page 90), i found a way to log to a file on Windows platform. As per that document, i changed the IAS_KASLOGFILE from 0 to 1 in the System Variable and restarted the system. It created the file by the name, KAS.log in the installdir/ias6/ias/logs.
Now i was able to see the KAS process's console messages in this log file. But there is nothing written to the KAS console. Why is it?
(4) What is the difference between the log file ias.10817 (created as per in point 2) and KAS.log (created as per in point 3)?

it seems to me it equals : jdeveloper/jdev/BC4J/lib/bc4juixtags.jarActually it should be:

and not:

another line is:

there is unconsistency here (I may be wrong)Actually it is consistent. The jdev.conf file contains pointers to where JDev can find other components which it depends on. In the two cases which you point out, the first is part of the RT layer of BC4J (which is also shipped in iAS) and the second is the batik XML parser from Apache.

"Kernel Panic" with log file: what could be the cause...?

Today I had my 3th "kernel panic" if I'm right.
I have an IbookG4 1,42GHz.
I've already post my problem, with log, on a dutch Apple forum but the people don't know what the log means. The problem can't be new hardware (more memory) because I haven't installed more and new hardware except that I have an external Harddrive.
One people suggest that I reset my PRAM, NVRAM and PMU and control my HD. That I have done but if the problem is solved, I don't know.
What I was doing the last 2 times when a "kernel panic" occured: I was working with VectorDesigner. The last time, that program was the only one open. Is it possible that my laptop can't cope with that grafic program, the laptop gets overload and crashes?
Also, when I restart the laptop after the "kernel panic", the laptop ask to push on a button to send a paper to Apple, but if I do so It seems to do nothing. So has it send a paper, I don't know.

Problem with logging in to BW after installation finished

Hi all,
I've a problem with logging in to my BW after i've finished installing it.
First, i'd add that my system is a standalone server. the GUI and the Froentend are already installed on the server. I'm trying to login the BW from the server.
After i'm starting my BW server from the R3 Management Console I'm trying to login my system and i get dump even before i'm getting the Log-In screen of SAP BW.
the dump i'm getting is "DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_REQUEST".
I've no idea what to do, i am stuck in that situation for 1 week, couldn't find any information about it. I've tried to read logs and couldn't find something specific.
Someone suggested it's a connection problem, but couldn't help more than that.
Any help or suggestion is mostly welcomed,

I've increased the virtual memeory, but it didn't help. Doesn't seem to be memory or space problem but more like a connection problem (to the SQL server - which is located at same computer where i'm tryinf to run the BW).
And to your answer: I'm using SAP Gui 6.4

Help intermittent problem with logging in

Help i have intermittent problem with logging in, sometimes it just comes up with the desktop without any icons or dock and i have to restart the server so i can log on properly, but it doesn't happen all the time, any ideas would be appreciated???

The clients login window just shakes and won't login. I did find one thing that helps some of my Mac Lab woes.
Some students get a dock that only has 3 icons. These students also will have saving and printing problems when they get this default dock.
I think some of the problems occur when the student gets over quota, some preference files get corrupted.
1. Student will login.
2. Open the student's home folder. Then open Library and Preferences.
3. Find the file com.apple.homesync.plist and delete it.
4. Empty Safari Cache and the user's Trash Can and make sure they are not over quota.
5. Logout and login.
This will fix some problems, but not the problem when students can't login at all.

Device not working with Log and Transfer in FCP

I am trying to get some footage off my camera into final cut pro, but Final Cut Pro does not recognise my device when I try to use Log & Transfer

I did a little Google searching for information on your camera and it appears that it is a Standard Definition Camera that records in the MPEG-2 format.
Log and Transfer only works with High Definition material.
You will need to convert your video clips into a format that will work with FCP.
I know nothing about working in PAL, but you want to download an free application called MPEG Streamclip from
http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
This application will convert your MPEG-2 files into a format that you can use directly in FCP.
Once you have converted the files to Apple DV-PAL, with the correct frame rate (25fps?) and field dominance you can either simply drag the converted files into FCP or import them using File > Import.

New bug in 8.02 - regions confused with each other

So, I just updated to 8.02, and loaded up a recent project that was half finished (bad idea).
Now I have some strange bugs going on that I never had before, and they are basic issues.
My audio regions keep getting confused with each other.
I have an audio region that I can't open in the sample editor. When I double click on it, the sample editor will bring up the last region I edited, not the new one. I've re-named the region, deleted it and re-added it to the arrange window, but this region will not open in the sample editor.
I can see it in my media bin, and preview it there, and it plays in my arrangement no problem, but I can't get it to open in the sample editor. In fact sometimes when I click on it, with the media window open, I can see another sample being 'selected' in the media window instead of the proper audio region.

Socket Programing in J2ME - Confused with Sun Sample Code

I have confused with sample code provided by Sun Inc , for the demo of socket programming in J2ME. I found the code in the API specification of J2ME. The code look like :-

There is nothing to be confused about. The Connector factory creates an implementation of one of the extentions of the Connection interface and returns it.
For a serversocket "socket://<port>" it will return an implementation of the ServerSocketConnection interface. You don't need to know what the implementation looks like. You'll only need to cast the Connection to a ServerSocketConnection .

Problem with logging

Hi, I have a problem with logging into PSN. When I want to log into in there comes an error which is NW-31456-9. I have something like that for 1 day. Anyone know how to fix this? I tried manual settings for my internet but it doesn't work.

Did some more debugging. The application is an application running under the Glassfish 2.1.1 application server. The logger is configured in a Lifecycle module and accessed in an EJB module. Here is what I found.
With JDK 1.6.0_05, the logger that I get in the Lifecycle module is the same logger instance that I get within the EJB where I am logging. In the EJB, I get all of the handlers and print out the information and all is correct and the logging works with the handler.
Change the symbolic link to point to JDK 1.6.0_22 and the logger that I get in the Lifecycle module is not the same logger instance that I get within the EJB where I am logging. This time in the EJB, the logger's level is "null" and there is no handler associated with the logger. So that is why it is not logging. What I don't understand is why the logger instance is retrieved in the EJB is not the same logger instance in the Lifecycle module.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Load balance with log-on grp

Hi All,
I have configured sap web dispatcher for load balaning with log-on grp. I am using Netweavre 7.01 with DB2 on linux.
My scenario is as -
Database is on -192.168.1.1
portal1 is on - 192.168.1.5
portal2 is on - 192.168.1.10
sap web dispatcher is on - 192.168.1.20
I dnt want ppl to use any portal URL to access it but What I want is that ppl should access only sap web dispatcher(192.168.1.20) and should be redirected on the available portal resource.
I can define -
wdisp/server_0 =portal1
wdisp/server_1 =portal2
wdisp/J2EE/group_info_location = portal1 (log-on grp configured on portal1)
In the above scenario what should be web dispatcher URL, I should be giving to the users to login ??????

Scenario execution with log level Zero

I am executing the scenarios with log level zero, but it purges the operator logs on successful execution. With log level Zero, is it possible to stop the automatic purge of the operator logs on successful execution?

I just get "SnpSession does not exist" error on this, this error is generated if we don't have an entry for that scenario in SNP_Session table. However, ODI if is provided with log level 0 deletes corresponding entries from SNP_Session table on successful completion of a scenario. Which is also happening in my case and entries are being deleted from table for Scen B and Scen C, but since Scen fails it remains in the table. Again, Once I have gotten the log_level in a variable in Scen A i am just making use of that variable in the subsequent scenarios. Also, when executed with log level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 it works jolly good.

MSI file installation fails on computers with logged-in restricted users

I'm trying to package Flash Player 8b for silent distribution
via Microsoft SMS. My package works correctly on computers where a
logged in user is either a local Administrator or Power user, but
fails with an error on computers where the logged in user has no
such rights. The SMS package is set to install with administrative
rights. The computers are Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP2
workstations. I only have the problem with Windows XP SP2, but
those computers are the only ones without priviledged users. I've
confirmed that computers with logged-in administrative users work
properly, like my own Windows XP machine.
The installer I'm using is
"install_flash_player_active_x.msi" and the version is "8,0,24,0".
The digital signature is dated "Friday, March 31, 2006 12:45:10
PM". I am led by other posts to believe that this is the most
current version and that I shouldn't be having these problems with
it.
The error that is reported in the log files is:
1: ISMsiServerStartup Failure, Failed to Initialize script
support, Error = 0x80070006
I'm using a Visual Basic script in my SMS package. It
attempts to run the "uninstall_flash_player.exe" uninstaller to
remove old versions, then tries to run the installer. It uses the
following command line:
install_flash_player_active_x.msi /log
%systemroot%\temp\flash_msi.log /qn allusers=2
reboot=reallysuppress
Originally I did not include the "allusers=2
reboot=reallysuppress", but I was having another error and various
Macrovision and InstallShield support sites suggested that addition
as a fix. That error was "Internal error 2103. 26".
Any ideas? Should this really be so hard to package and
distribute?

I did find a solution to this odd problem. It does seem to be
a dcom priveledges issue. I suspect the reason it isn't seen on
pre-sp2 is because Microsoft made some changes to post xp-sp2 to
tighten security. So ISSCript is called via dcom. Installsheilds
default runas is "Interactive User" somewhere between SMS client
running as user with admin rights causes this to break. I found
that if you remove the runas string it will execute in whatever
security context the program that called is running in. Since the
SMS client has full control of the machine it works. I've attached
a script that basically makes an array of dcom appid using wmi,
removes the ones that don't have the column "InstallShield
InstallDriver" in them - store those in a an array then remove the
runas line from each. I actually found this script on the
InstallShield site - I left the credits intact
- however I've already thought of a few ways to
improve on this script.
The other problem is that Flash Player 8 installs the
InstallSheild Driver version 10 on launch - which effectively
restores the runas string. So I found there's a custom action
called "EngineStartup.4F635B62_07BF_4779_B74E_D80C29D508E3" - to
disable this I simply made a transform and removed this row in the
InstallExecuteSequence table. Then it all works
Keep in mind - if your target machines do not have Install
Shield Driver 10 on them you'll need to install that in your script
before installing Flash Player 10. To do this make a transform for
isscript10.msi and remove the Registry601 row - so it does not
create the runas key on install.
Or... You could just do the install as system
- and forget this whole thing ever happened.

Disconnect/remove PSTs from users profile with logging

I would like a script that removes (but does not delete) all PST files (except Sharepoint lists) attached to Outlook on a machine (for all users) with logging. I found the script on another site but I would like it to create a log file which records what
it has actually done (machine|user|location of PST that was removed|time it was removed). Can anyone help with the logging bit please? I am thinking include the script as part of logon script and have the log file save in a network location.

You can use VBA Logger for adding log statements to the existing code.
The
RemoveStore method of the Namespace class removes a Personal Folders file (.pst) from the current MAPI profile or session. I.e. the method removes a store only from the Microsoft Outlook user interface. You cannot remove
a store from the main mailbox on the server or from a user's hard disk using the Outlook object model.

Confused with HD-SD

Hi,
All the sudden I am confused with my searches on this forum and would appreciate clarification
I am presently working on a HD project (from HD clips and HD stills).
If I want to get the best out of it, should I use only BluRay burning or would it be OK to use HD setting and burning with DVDSP on a "regular" DL disk (the compressed project will be over 7 GB ?
Should I understand that if I use HD setting with DLdisks only a HD compatible DVD player will be requested ?
will a Bluray player play the HD-DL fine ? or will a bluray disk be requested on bluray player ?
As you can see I just got really confused ...

No doubt this stuff can be confusing. Hopefully I'll be able to clear a few things up.
You shot and edit an HD project in HD. Now you would like to create a DVD correct?
You have 2 options for DVD
1. Standard Definition DVD authored in DVDSP.
2. Blu-Ray DVD. You'll have to purchase a burner.
If you are on the newest FCS then you can author and burn a Blu-Ray DVD inside of Compressor. If you are on the previous version then you need another application to author and burn Blu-Ray like Toast or Adobe Encore.
You made mention of HD-DVD. That format is dead and won't play on anything other than your Mac or a couple specific HD-DVD players that haven't been in production for years. If you look in the DVDSP preferences you can choose which kind of DVD to burn SD-DVD or HD-DVD. Choose SD whenever you are using DVDSP.
Blu-Ray players play Blu-Ray DVD's and SD DVD's. It will not play HD-DVD.
How long is your project if the compressed (m2v) files are coming in at over 7GB?
