I have had to reset all settings on my iphone 4 because my ablums and contacts keep getting wiped out. not all the contacts.. just the ones ive put in iin the last few months. this is irritating

Address Ctcs Keep getting wiped out

I am installed Leopard and recently got a .mac subscription. All of my address book contacts keep disappearing. I have already reset all the syncing preferences, but it happens even if nothing is syncing. Address Book is populated for a while, then suddenly empty. Secondly, mail won't add address into address book. Anyone have a fix for this?

Well have eventually sorted it out can now send emails. Deleted email account and went through setup again waited for it to check outgoing server this took quite a while so be patient. It worked now sends and receives emails.

Hi Rosemary,
These devices will get very warm (even uncomfortably so) when charging. From my own experience this is exacerbated if the device is in use at the time of charging or if the device is in a case that does not allow air to reach the device.
You will see a warning on the iPad's display in the form of a yellow triangle and exclamation mark long before the device reaches a dangerous temperature.
As long as the device is no warmer than a nice cup of coffee, you're in the clear.
As you have mentioned that your battery is draining quickly, this could indicate that the processes running at the time are rather intensive on the iPad's resources and this would naturally raise the temperature of the iPad.
If you have a look in Settings>General>Usage and look for the Standby and Usage times toward the bottom, are the two numbers significantly different? If you see that the Usage and Standby times are identical then you are experiencing a software issue where the device is not entering sleep as it should when not in use.

I am attempting to make my first purchase in the App store, yet it is asking me security questions I know I didn't enable and I keep getting locked out of my account despite resetting everything.

This usually wouldn't pose to be a problem, but I am a college freshman and I just redeemed my $100 giftcard to the app store. I am beyond frustrated and don't know what to do.
It is my first time making a purchase off of this Mac with this account, so it is asking me two security questions. It keeps asking me who my favorite and least favorite teachers were. I know for a fact that these are not the security questions I enabled, so I went in to change them again and logged out of everything. I logged back in and I was getting the same thing from the App store -- it was asking me questions I didn't enable. I've been locked out of my account for eight hours twice and all of my Mac's information is at home and not easily accessable to me, so I don't want to have to call and be asked for information I do not have.
What do I do? I need some crucial apps for classes that start in less than fourty-eight hours from now?
I have changed my appleID's information three times now: passwords, rescue email, and of course, my security questions. I am at my wits end and not pleased that I will possibly be losing $100!

Hey Larry, I had the same problem when I down loaded Fire Fox 4.0! Go to the upper left corner of the screen. Is there a small red box with an arrow that says Fire Fox? Left click there and a new menu drops down. Go to Options DO NOT CLICK!, scroll over to Menu Bar and left click on it and the red box goes away and leaves all the options your looking for! To remove it back to the other way, left click on Views, scroll down to Toolbars, DO NOT CLICK!, scroll over to Menu Bar and click on that and it will revert to the original set, with red Fire Fox bar in corner again! I returned my iphone and they gave me a new one and they activated it at the iphone store. when i got home and tried to sync my contacts, they were gone. there are a few contacts that it imported but only about 25% of my original list. I think the contacts that it is syncing is from the mac address book. I have had problems with this phone and recently re-installed the sim card and had to restore my contacts and it worked fine. but this time when i plug the iphone in to itunes, it doesnt recognized the phone with "my name" on it. it just says iphone under the devices tab. where are my contacts? are they stored somewhere else on the mac where i can retrieve them?

With the iPhone, contacts are not stored on the SIM card, but stored on the device itself. Typically, you want to backup your iPhone contacts with a program on your computer (like Address Book or Outlook) so you have those contacts in case you need to restore your iPhone or get it replaced. When you sync your iPhone with your computer, iTunes will make a backup of your information, but future syncs replaces your backup.
You can look and see if your old backup remains by going into the iTunes preferences and clicking on the syncing tab. It will give you the name of the iPhone backed up and the last date it backed up the information. If you synced your iPhone before you took it in to be replaced, your contact information may still be included in that backup. You can restore your phone in iTunes and choose the backup you want to re-sync to the iPhone.

I broke my phone got it replaced and backed it up and restored it to my new phone and everything came back except for my photos, at the bottom it says they are downloading but nothing has popped up in 4 days.

I broke my iphone 5 and room it to apple, they gave me a new iphone and restored it with my iCloud backup. It's been 4 days and my photos still havent come back. It says in iCloud, "restoring cannot be backed up" and when I go into photo at the very bottom it says "downloading" 5 photos have came back on the first days but i have like another 500 photos that haven't come back it just says downloading.

Contact Ringtones & Photos getting wiped out during sync

I hope someone else has experienced this issue and can help me. I get on my iPhone 3G and assign ringtones and photos to my contacts, but the photos and ringtones don't "push" to MobileMe, so that every time I do a sync with iTunes for new music and videos, the photos and ringtones get wiped out and everything goes back to Default. I can go in and set Contact photos in MobileMe, but I have no way to set ringtones for those contacts there. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem with Entourage -- every time I sync, all of my specific iPhone info is lost: ringtone and photo specifically. In order to use Entourage, it has to be synced through Address Book and iCal. What a kludge this is! Unfortunately I haven't found a suitable workaround and I refuse to use Apple's horrible little Mail, Address Book and iCal apps in place of the rather elegant (dare I say this) Microsoft Entourage.

Copying photos out will not be a problem if you make no errors - for me that is not a good bet - it is best to stay out of yoru iPhoto library

No - it gives you the current version which may be the original if no changes have been made or will be the current edited version if edits ahve been made

In the iPhoto preferences un check the advanced preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library"
HOWEVER - this is not recommended - it makes importing more complicated, deleting more complicated and makes replacing a hard drive or going to a new computer much more difficult - and it puts you totally in charge of your original photos - being sure that they are there and do not get moved
I'd like to have my photos organized by date in the backup as well, so that I don't have to backup all my pictures every time I add new ones, just add the latest to the backup drive.
Finally, any suggestions on what to do with pictures that you scan so that they appear by the date they were taken as opposed to the date they were scanned? Is there a way to modify the date of the photo info?

I keep getting logged out of iCloud and iMessenger on my iPhone 5s. I have iOS 8.1.3, I've logged out of everything, restarted, logged back in, I've fully erased and reset the phone, I've done everything every blog has suggested and it is still not working properly. I've even had to fully erase my iPad because it started acting as the primary device so I was not getting any messages on my iPhone. I did update my password a while ago but even after that the phone and iPad were working fine, then within the last few month's I've been dealing with this issue.
Please help, I've literally tried every fix everyone has suggested on this subject and nothing is working. I'm strongly tempted to change from an Apple device at this point.

Pay no attention to iinami, the amount of replies to people saying their handsets must have been jailbroken everytime iTunes throws out an error is tremendous. (Clearly you don't need to have any real knowledge to get to level 3 on these forums, let's hope apple's geniuses know a lot more than some of their customers.)
