There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
Delete ALL your email accounts.
Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON. Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

We have an Apple 9 and 10 operating system and want to get rid of the 9 how do we do that?

An alternate method is to just throw away the OS 9 System Folder (not the folder named System - that's OSX), and throw away the OS 9-only apps you might have.
Since it is OS 9.0, it can not be used as Classic - and so there should be no hooks to Classic in OSX that might prevent a casual removal via the Trash.
If OS 9 is on its own partition (the default is everyhting on one volume (partition), but any folks who have both OS's have placed OS 9 on its own partition), then you can erase just that partition.
Additional issue -
You mentioned installing Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6). Since you have a PowerMac, that's not possible. Snow Leopard will run only on machines having an Intel processor, which no PowerMac (or any machine capable of using OS 9) has.
Depending on other criteria, your machine may not even be suitable for Leopard (OSX 10.5). There are some minimum requirements that must be met - primarily a CPU (machine) speed of 867MHz (no stock machine capable of boooting to OS 9.0 has a processor that fast), plus some minimums with regard to RAM and available hard drive space.

I can´t organize files on my Zen Micro using MP10 (and can I get rid of the firmwar

Hi, I installed the software that came with the Zen, the first one hung up my computer (forgot what it was called) but media explorer seemed to work ok. I was recommended to install the firmare so that I could transfer files using MP0. I did this (one of the earlier versions). I drag and drop my music folders into MP0 and sincronize but when they are transfered I get new folder created with new names onto my Zen (album names, song names etc.) everything disordered and many folders with only one song in them. I can't seem to figure out how to organize my music. Is there a way of reformatting the player, get rid of the firmware and make it work properly with media explorer again (since media explorer doesn?t recognise the player after the firmware instalation) Please help, the sound quality of this player is great but music transfers and organizing is giving me a big headache.

You can download the version of Zen Micro Media Explorer that support the MTP firmware you have now on the player. The version is 4.00.8 and is available on the website. You can also change the firmware to the PDE one by downloading and installing the PDE firmware version .02.05.

Tried the Restore and Reset to get rid of the invalid passcode but it is still there!

I've had my iPhone 4s from new and can't even remember ever doing a Passcode but after doing the last few updates I have struggled with issues with the phone-some of my contacts vanish.
I used to be able to do In App Purchases. I can buy Apps direct from iTunes as well as music.
But over the past 2 weeks I have not been able to buy In App Purchases anymore as it always asks me for the Passcode-I have done 17 attempts!
So I have read and re-read several Apple and website info on how to fix this and nothing has worked!
I have done the Reset and also the Restore via iTunes and I have switched the phone off and connected to iTunes and after spending several days on this I am now wanting to take a hammer to the phone!!
It does not matter how many hours it takes for my phone to do either reset, restore, back up etc every time I do it the passcode still is there saying 17 attempts and I have to keep waiting an hour at a time to try and guess it again!
Logically to me if I restore my phone via iTunes using the last back up (don't know how to use a Back up from say a year ago to see if that works) then the Passcode info will still be on that Back up so it will remember that it needs a passcode and leave it there-I have never been asked on anything to reset the passcode as in make a new one.
Please help before i go over to the dark side and buy another phone!!!

Generally speaking, I suggest the following process for cleaning up unwanted software:
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Then, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:

* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Finally, you can "mop up" remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].

Can't register and can't get rid of the "Let's get started" pop-up

I was trying to register my wife's iPad, using her iTunes account. It said that the ID didn't match the password no matter what I did, including resetting the password several times.
What is odd, is that we were able to download apps directly to the iPad by typing in the new password on the iPad. In other words, iTunes seems to recognize the iPad, the account and the password, but it keeps asking us to register the iPad each time we try and sync. So, it seems to be partially registered.
Any ideas? I would hate to have to reset everything and start from scratch. Not sure how to do that anyway.

There's really no way of getting rid of the "Let's Get Started" screen. It's just a side effect of buying a used iPad from the Black Eyed Peas.

I needed space on my hard drive and it was suggested to clear the cache by restarting with shift held down. My Aperture library is now missing...help please!

I needed space on my hard drive (iMac- as I do photography part time, and it was suggested to clear the cache by restarting and holding down the shift key. Now most of my Aperture Library is missing and I had senior photos on there for friends....help please.
I heard that Aperture makes alias files when you are editing and that might be what is clogging up my hard drive. I really don't know.

There is nothing that SHIFT reboot does to erase files. Have you restarted normally? It's quite possible that with a full drive you can't start nor can Aperture load its library file.
I don't know who gave you that advice but it's not a viable solution for a full drive:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.

You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

I accidentally duplicated app file? and can't get rid of the duplicate

I think I've done something silly, but I don't know how to fix it.
I suddenly wondered if I could organize FaceTime and Skype into a folder on my dock so that they wouldn't be taking up two slots for essentially the same function. In applications, I made a folder and dragged each of them in, but FaceTime seemed to copy/duplicate itself rather than moving (I guess because it's hardwired into Lion). I realized I couldn't put the folder in with the rest of my apps on the dock, only to the side with my downloads folder, so I wanted to put the apps back onto the dock individually and delete the folder. I dragged FaceTime from applications back onto the dock, worked fine, and I put the folder in the trash. When I went to empty the trash, it said the item FaceTime was in use, and when I opened up the trash, the icon for FaceTime was the little missing-application-image icon.
I dragged it from the trash to my desktop, then tried to put it into my applications folder to see if it could be deleted by putting it near the "real" application, to which the system responded, "FaceTime can't be modified or deleted because it's required by Mac OS X." So I can move it between the trash and the desktop, but I can't put it anywhere else or delete it. Get info says its file kind is an application, name being FaceTime.app, but its file size is only 78 KB, compared to the 15.6 MB identically named file in my applications folder.
What on earth did I do, and how do I get rid of this ghost that thinks its an app? If anyone can help, thanks.

From the Mail menu bar, select
Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Look for the unwanted SMTP (outgoing mail) account in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window will open, showing a list of all the outgoing mail accounts. The unwanted one will be selected. Click the minus-sign button to delete it, then click OK.
If there's more than one unwanted account, repeat.

Why does my Mail Usage show 2.1 Gb but I only have 6 emails in there, no trash and no sent files left in there?

So I'm trying to clean up my phone as far as free space. I've got 6 emails in the mail and I've cleaned out all my sent messages and trash. Yet under usage, it still shows 2.1Gb of usage for mail.

My original account was opened with an email account that I no longer use but I still have access to it. I opened a new account using my current email address but can't access songs purchased or added to my library from my old account.

When I go through the process of retrieving my password the system says it has sent an email to address to which the account is associated but that is not happening. The information (birth date & secret hint) associated with the account also don't agree with the correct info

You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another. You need to go into the old Apple ID and change it to the new email address instead of using a new Apple ID altogether.

If you can't remember the password to the old ID, then click on Reset your Password, and answer the Security Questions. If you can't remember the Security Questions, contact iTunes Support and have them reset:
APPLE ID SECURITY CONTACT NUMBERS
Once you get into your old account, Edit the Apple ID to your new email address. Before you will be able to do that you are going to have to change the email address on the new Apple ID to something else.

Try booting into the Recovery Drive and running Repair Disk in Disk Utility .
Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
Run Repair Drive and Repair Permissions using Disk Utility in Recovery.
When you restart, boot into your Air using Safe Boot mode. Then restart normally.
Safe boot
* shutdown
* start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
* after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
* keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
* now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
* eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT
* continue to login to see if the problem goes away.
