My Ipod touch has been stolen. The tracker shows it to be in a front garden of a road nearby. But it is not there. How accurate is the tracker deviceand should I report it to the police please?
The iPod touch does not have GPS, so the location accuracy is greatly reduced. It relies on the known location of nearby WiFi networks. As WiFi networks can extend for 100m or so, the iPod could be anywhere within a 100m radius of whichever WiFi router it is connected to.

Yesterday I unfortunately had my Ipod Touch stolen after it had fallen out of my purse. Whoever took it had the nerve to leave the case on the curb. Anyway, I filed a police report, and then today I called Apple. It was a woman with a really thick accent who kept talking over me and seemed to try to get me off of the phone as soon as possible. Anyway, she took down my serial number and created a case, and said she would have it flagged as stolen. She said if someone else were now to try to register that ipod, that it would not allow them to. Is that really true? The only reason I ask this is because the woman did not sound like she knew what she was talking about and was really rushing me off of the call. Thanks!
Thanks for the help folks. That last link does indeed answer my question. I called Apple support again today and got someone from the US, and he told me what the original rep told me was untrue (call center in the Philippines). I hope one day Apple can come up with something better than "motion-based" theft detection to help deter thieves. Yes, it could just be as simple as making sure my iPod doesn't fall out of my purse, but I am disgusted with the idea that Apple can only benefit from me losing anything I buy from them. It's baffling that none of their eggheads can come up with a deterrent that doesn't break privacy laws. Oh well, guess this was just in time for the 3Gs to come out. 64GB, here I come...and this time I am going to put all sorts of protections on my iPod--not that any of them will prevent someone from taking it. As indicated by the title, my brother has lost his ipod touch at his school. Is there any way to locate it remotely?
If the FindMyiPod feature was already turned on and wifi an and connected go to iCloud, sign in and go to FIndmyiPhone.
Otherwise you will have to find it the old fashioned way.
Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to school and police.

My Grandson has a latest generation touch. Up to this time the only way he downloaded apps was directly to the device via wifi. We just recently installed itunes on their home computer and wanted to be able to sync purchases. When we plugged the ipod in to the computer it prompted us to install the new OS which we did but now his apps are not on the ipod. They do not show up in the itunes library either? They have an Apple ID and the account (and gift card balance) shows on both the ipod and computer. How do I get his apps back and then how do I sync things between teh two??????????

My grandson delted all data from his ipod touch {thinking he was deleting his songs.] Now all he gets when he turns it on is a gray screen with an apple logo. We do not have it backed up nor was it ever turned on to itunes. We purchased it used from a co worker and didnt get that far.. Our computers do not recognise it as any thing nor does itunes when we have it plugged into itunes. Any way to fix this? Apple support will remote into our computer to fix it. For $ 99.00. Well needless to say he used all his savings to buy the ipod so ...... Any free ideas??

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I had an ipod touch 4th generation and used the Apple Universal Dock to play music through my stereo. I just got the 5th generation and the lightning adapter but the adapter does not fit into the dock. Apple tech support has no solution, does anyone?
That is the adapter I purchased from Apple which does not fit in the Apple Universal cradle (which apparently is no longer universal). However, I just created my own solution. The cradle holds the dock connector at a slight angle so the adapter, which has a straight bottom edge, will not slide down far enough to make a connection. Since the adapter has a plastic case, I used my Swiss Army knife to whittle it down to fit. It's a no-tech solution, and free!

Has anybody else had an iPod touch battery go into "deep Discharge"? Mine did after 6 months use, Mains charger did not work, computer charger did not work, so took it for repair under warranty. I was then told about "deep discharge" , and it has to be connected to a Mac computer to recharge again. This cost me $80 AUS. It does not say much for iPod batteries, especially if you don't have a Mac to charge it if it happens again. In fact it sounds like a fundamental flaw in the product......
There are other repair companies for the touch/iPhone. Google them, you might find a lower price.
