My hp photosmart 6510 keeps losing my wireless ip settings and wep key?

I have to choose the network and re-enter everytime I boot up my computer and printer.

The problem with the printer falling off your network is likely due to your BT router.  They do not play well with HP printers.  This may help:
1. Don't turn the printer off - ever.
2. Set a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
- Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

What kind of wireless router are you using? more importantly which protocol are you connecting with? Are you and wife connecting using the 2.4Ghz band? or do you have a dual band router that offers the 5GHZ band?  Are you both connecting vie 802.11 a/b/g or n?
The best thing to do is to go into SYSTEM PREFERENCES and select NETWORK, then select AIRPORT and click on the ADVANCED button.
Under the AirPort tab you should delete all the preferred networks and only add back in your network with the proper security settings and passwords.
If you hold down the option key on your keyboard while clicking on the airport icon at the top on your macbook pro. you'll seesome data that will tell you what band and mode you're connecting at, as well as in an indication of signal strength (RSSI) if you write down and post back that information it'll tell us what's going on.

  • Satelite C660 keeps losing its wireless connection

    Hi
We have bought the above laptop for our son for christmas and it keeps losing its wireless connection, we also have a Satelite L450 which is running fine (not losing internet connection) we have been onto our broadband supplier they have told us that as the wireless connection on our other laptop is fine, it is something to do with the C660, one of the drivers needs an update, unfortuneately I have forgotten the driver name but it is something to do with the modem, Our son is desperate to use his laptop.
    Can anyone help?

Had the same problem but with a different Satellite model - the signal was fine on another laptop in the room - the problem was the power management option / power plan - the link below says it all but in short if it is on balanced the default option the default means that it tells the router to go into a power save mode that it might not support.

Have a read, hope it helps as it worked for me and is a very simple solution!

  • Keep losing my wireless and mac addresses wont hold

For some reason, i could not delete or add any mac addresses to the aebs, which i have been using for the past couple years, so i did a hard reset on the unit. Now i have not added any security yet and the aebs keeps dropping my wireless connections. Any ideas?

To perform a Factory Default Reset......
Pull the power plug from the back of the AirPort Extreme
    Wait 2-3 minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it for 10-12 seconds while you plug the power back in to the Extreme
Release the reset button after the 10-12 hold period and allow 25-30 seconds for the Extreme to come back up to a slow blinking amber light
Before you start to reconfigure the Extreme again, power down your modem for 5-10 minutes, then restart it.

  • AA3 keeps losing Audio Hardware Setup settings...

I work in a broadcast center with a number of AA3 machines that keep losing their Audio Hardware Setup settings. It keeps switching from the LynxONE drivers to Audition 3.0 Windows Sound. I can find no documentation on this.
I've found that the trigger is when AA3 has "release ASIO driver in background" NOT checked, and the user minimizes it and plays something from another audio program. Then they have to go in and set it back again before AA3 will pass audio again.
Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks.

In the Options menu. Device Properties. Then you have tabs for Wave In and Wave Out amongst others. Also you may need to also set Device Order from the same Options menu.

  • Yoga 10 HD+ keeps losing my Google Account Settings

received my Yoga 10 HD+ last week
    really enjoying it so far.
However, am experiencing an odd issue.
3 times so far I've been away for a few hours to return to the tablet only to find that it seems to have lost my google account settings.. Not just not syncing - no memory of an account.
All other settings and apps are ok.
Clearly something is kicking in to remove it - but what?
    Any ideas greatly appreciated
    TIA
    Solved!

    I'm on this.
Adding a Lenovo ID via SyncIt does appear to be a viable workaround, but requiring that to avoid randomly losing your Google account is madness.
I'll follow up when I have updates.
Full disclosure: Lenovo issues my paychecks.

  • I run Windows Vista 64 bit and just installed Firefox 4. I keep losing my Wireless connection and Firefox lost my Bookmarks, how can I fix it??

I also run Zone Alarm security

I had the exact same error message but it was on an Airport Extreme Base Station. I use a Macbook at my office and there are 2 XP desktops as well and we were using a shared storage hooked into the AEBS in order to share files. One day all of a sudden the XP machines starting displaying the same error message that NetBIOS should be enabled.
After googling every available article I discovered what ultimately solved our issue.
I opened the the Airport Utility app on my Macbook I clicked on "Manual Setup"
    Then "Disks"
    Then "File Sharing"
I discovered that the default name under "Workgroup" was Workgroup, but our network in the office is called "MSHome" so I changed it to match the PCs and instantly both PCs connected to the shared storage.
Also I changed the 2.4Ghz channel to a number other than the default 11.
I changed the name of the base station to a name less than 8 characters with no spaces and no symbols.
I changed the Wireless Security to "WPA/WPA 2 Personal".
I've been trying to add my fix to other Apple Support pages and they're all archived and closed to replies, so if you haven't gotten your TC to work, maybe this might help.

  • I keep losing my wireless connection after periods of inactivity - any solution? I recently installed a new wireless router with improved range.

I recently installed a Netgear Wireless router for improved reception, but now my macbook loses connection through Airport after periods of inactivity.  We have another older Macbook in the house, and it never loses connection.  I never had this problem with the previous Linksys router, just limited range.  Any ideas what is causing this?  It's frustrating to have to frequently shout down and re-boot.  That so far is the only way I can re-connect.

Adjust the Wireless Settings on your linksys router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab on the Setup page- Here Wireless Network mode should be mixed- Provide any non linksys network name ....
Name (SSID) box- Set wireless channel to 11- And wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on "Save Settings" >>
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your
network key whenever you connect to your wireless network.
Do NOT give this key to anyone.
    Click on Advanced Wireless settings>>
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings" ...
Try to look for the Wireless Network on your laptop and attempt to connect...

  • My computer keeps losing its wireless connection

I have a second gen Airport Express connected to a DSL modem; my main computer is a Mini, late 2012 model, running Mountain Lion on 8 gb ram. On this network, I normally also connect a MacBook running Leopard, and iPad and an iPhone.
The Apple Airport Express model is not the newest, it is A1264 54 Mbps Wireless N Router (MB321LL/A). I've been using it about 2 ½ years without problems.
Just recently, however, my Mini has stopped holding on to the connection. At first, I figured it was a network issue, but I've done' some trouble shooting and find that is not the case. The network is fine when I plug ethernet direct from the modem into my computer, and I have even gone so far as to set my computer up as the wireless point of connection for the other devices, and the connection speed makes me think that the wireless card in the computer is operating just fine.
When the Airport is the wireless connection point, all the other devices have no problems, but the Mini is just awful; I have found after considerable frustration that when a page fails to load or another call to the network fails to execute, I can mouse-click the wireless symbol on the menu bar and see that the Wi-Fi is "looking for Networks," and after a brief pause with the spinning wheel animation, it finds my network in the list and turns itself on.
Forgive me, but WTH? I suspect this is something fairly simple, a setting, but what? I was all set to buy a new Airport Express, but I really don't want to if this is something fixable.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
I can tell you that the modem is set to "bridge" mode. After 10 years, the modem was replaced about a year ago, but I've had this setup for about 11 years, DSL in to a DSL modem to wireless router (always the original Apple Airport Base Station or an Airport Express, I've cooked a couple over the years).

Thanks, that may put me closer to a fix, but I'm not there yet.
I'm not sure I made it clear, what's happening is the WiFi grip on the internet hangs and then drops. I have learned that when the browser progress bar halts or a podcast download slows to a crawl, I can click the WiFi icon on the top menu and it will sometimes goose the network back to a secure connection and the task will complete; other times it drops entirely, forcing me to restart everything.
I have now ordered a new Airport Express, but won't have it until the week-end. I will then have 3 months of phone support. I was shocked to find Apple has raised the price for phone support, and while I did get a little free help yesterday, all the woman really did was get me to buy new stuff. I can't afford this. And I will bet that the new router will not solve the problem.
I am trying to use the Wireless Diagnostics app to get some idea of what is causing the connection to hang and fail. The Apple support person did not suggest this, but I am using the utilities feature to actually watch the connection struggle and then drop; I then generate a WiFi report and try to see what was happening when the failure occurred.
Sometimes these drops are temporary, and sometimes they require a modem and router re-start.
The problem is, I have no idea what these reports mean. I have tried to read the instructions, and I'm not doing very well at that. AFAICT, there is no problem with any of my settings. Other devices on the network do not lose connection the way the mini does. I don't use any location settings. so that's not applicable. I have gone over the "best practices" list and think I'm in compliance with all the recommendations. It seems odd to me that the Apple page [About Wireless Diagnostics - Apple Support] tells the user what's in the diagnostics report, but does not mention what to do with the information, how to understand it or use it.   I have been watching the performance graph, and sure enough, when the connection fails, the graph reflects the failure. It operates in the excellent range most of the time, or slips into the "good" range, but I have not seen it in the poor range, it just drops. Then the Airport Untility shows the router with a yellow triangle sign with an exclamation point in the middle.
I can post the WiFi logs if anyone can understand them.

  • Upgraded imac to lion now can't keep connection to wireless network, iPhone and iPad are fine?????

Have upgraded my imac to lion and now it can't hold onto my wireless network connection, also having intermittant problems with mail incoming, and not able to send mail out. Wireless network, and mail working fine with my ipad and iphone.  Any ideas out there??

I actually had that problem when I was downloading Lion it would connect but then if I tried to go on safari it said no internet connection and an exclamation point would be in the wifi bar. If you click on you wifi bar click on the option that says no error no internet or something like that. I deleted my network and then reestablished it as like it was the first time has been fine since even after the upgrade. I was in panic mode when it happend to because all my other stuff worked and i just got my new imac last week

  • My macbook keeps losing wifi connection after restarting and I can't connect to my wifi in recovery mode

I have two problems actually, which I think are connected.
I installed a new hard drive and am in the process of returning my macbook pro to normal. I'm now using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I want to be able to update to OS Lion.
When my computer is on it can connect to our wifi without any problems (so the password is working). However, everytime I restart, it looses the connection and does not automatically reconnect. This never happened before and I can't seem to figure out where I can change this. All I have to do to reconnect is go to the wifi symbol and choose our wifi code. It then automatically connects without me needing to type the access code.
The seconde problem is when trying to update to OS Lion, when in recovery mode, all I get is a screen asking me to connect to wifi. I choose our wifi and now I do have to type a password, but whatever I do, it does not accept the code. It has nothing to do with capslock or anything like that.
We are sharing our wifi with our neighbour, so changing the password is not an option. But is is just a simple letters and numbers password.

Why not do a "Restore"  in iTunes to set it back to factory settings? That will eliminate any previous information that is causing you issues in use. You will have an iPod which you can sync as if it is new with your settings and info.

how do get notes that were on my phone that are now in the notes section of my email back to my phone?

The same way the music was placed on the device.
    Connect the device to iTunes.
Tell iTunes what to sync to the device and sync.

  • I keep losing the sound on Firefox and Aurora.

I am having sound issues with Adobe Flash videos, etc., on Firefox, even though my mixer is set to 100%. First, I cleared my cache, and that worked for an hour. Then, I chatted with a Firefox person and I was told to “end plugin-container.exe”. I was told that this would be a permanent fix. It worked for one day. I am running Adobe Flash 10, updated last weekend, and Firefox 7.0.1, also updated last weekend. So I spoke to a Firefox person again and this person recommended that I try Mozilla Aurora. It worked for a WHOLE DAY. I'm at my wit's end. I love Firefox but I don't want to hassle with it. I don't have any problems with IE or Chrome.

You say the batteries are okay.    Here are a few notes I've put together.
Whether you use regular or rechargeable batteries you should buy the best. Discounted or unbranded batteries are more likely to give a depleted performance and may be of irregular size, often leading to connection problems.   Apple’s own brand, Eneloop and Energiser appear to be the best.
Rechargeable batteries for the standard Magic mouse are unlikely to exceed eighteen days before needing a recharge although the mouse itself can be a limiting factor.   I have seen reports that some Logitech mice vastly exceed this.    Apple may suggest more in their sales blurb but this is a realistic expectation.   The benefit (if you are organised) is that you can always have charged batteries available.   Regular batteries will give you between 25 and 35 days before they need to be replaced.
Note.  Never mix old and new batteries or rechargeable and regular.   The notes above are based on my personal experience, not shutting down my machine and using it for around four hours per day.
Note.   Monitors do not always faithfully report battery strength, particularly the rechargeable ones.
When checking your mouse or keyboard batteries ... Turn off the device. Remove the batteries, Clean the terminals both inside the battery compartment and the batteries themselves. Replace or renew both batteries. Turn on the device.   You should get a blinking green light if the device is paired. Click the mouse to activate it.  The green light becomes steady.

  • Transfer data from one database to another without identities but keep the relation b/w PK and Foreign key

    Hi,
I need to transfer data from one database to another database (both are identical databases).

  • IOS 7 keep turned off my iCloud settings and asking my password

    Hi,
I upgrade to iOS 7 the day before yesterday. Everything's fine until yesterday's morning. When I received a text message, I found it's shown under the tel number, rather than names from my contact list. Then I found all my setting in iCloud were turned off. I turned them on, and everything's fine after that. But today, it turned off all my settings again and stars to keep asking me sign-in my iCloud account. I checked my iCloud account settings, it seems correct for me. I can correctly get all the informations from iCloud. But it just keep asking my passwords...
    Any ideas about this?
    Thanks very much in advance,
    s.c

The solution to this error (in IOS7) is: You have to edit our name ID to "manage your apple ID" from the following link and put in it the old name or misnomer. This will allow us to access iCloud on our device without problem and once there we can delete the account, momentarily leaving the device without iCloud account. Remember to remove the iCloud account, before we turn off "find my ipad" (in IOS 7 asks for this password, now if we recognize for having changed the old ID). Then repeat the process to edit the name of our apple ID to put the name you want and activate iCloud on your device using the latter name.
    Here the link:
    https://appleid.apple.com
So I solved the problem with iCloud yesterday I came to upgrade to IOS7.
