My imac reboots on its own from sleep at irregular intervals

My imac reboots on its own from sleep at irregular intervals. Is this normal?  why does it do this, it didn't do it untill about six months ago. At least I didn't notice it. There is no power outage, not even a blip when it happens.

im just as a starter as u in macs just so u know, i did that yesterday and it fixed my isight(it was showing black). ok u unplug ALL cables, usb etc etc everything from the imac and unplug the main power cord too for like half a minute and then replug everything in and thats it i believe

  • Imac reboots on its own

I have a 20 inch Imac Intel. I have had the logic board and airport card replaced. Every day before and after the repairs my computer will reboot on its own. Steps I have taken so far:
    1. PRAM resets
    2. Testing Via TechTool (Came back fine)
    3. Deleted Powermanagment in System Preference.
I have memory from Other Computer World installed. When I ran the tests from TechTool it said the memory was fine. I was wondering if anyone else's IMAC does this. If it does how did they fix it

  • BIG TROUBLE - iMac rebooting on its own each time I try to shut it down

I just installed Snow Leopard, everything went smooth but when I want to shut down my iMac now, it shuts down but after 5 sec reboots automatically. And I can try as long as I want, still the same, have to physically unplug it to shut it down.
    Please help!

This problem now has been around for a long time, and I have not seen a solution, except for going back to Leo (not really a solution). If you want to do so, then let me know. As a last resort, I would suggest installing Sno over Sno using an upgrade install. Another with your problem just tried this procedure, but it did not help. So, you are not likely to benefit from the install; it's just that computers are somewhat unpredictable, so what doesn't work for one might work for another. As with any install, be sure you are prepared for the worst and, thus, are well backed up.

  • MacBook doesn't reboot on its own, but will from Startup Manager

I have an early 2009 13" MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. About a week ago I attempted to use Boot Camp to install a Windows partition, and for reasons that don't matter to my current problem, I gave up on that and used the Book Camp Assistant to remove the Windows partition and return to a single Mac OS partition.
Since then, if I reboot the machine and just let it reboot on its own, it will stop at a black screen that says "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I have to power off the machine to reboot from this point.
However, if I reboot the machine and hold the Option key to get the Startup Manager, my hard drive will be shown which I can then select and it will boot Mac OS like normal. After that it will run like a champ.
Any idea how to fix this short of a fresh install?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    Glad to help.

Your graphic card is damaged. This could be related to extensions, but the kernel panic gives you the message that your graphic card has failed.
You can only make a backup of your files with Time Machine or Disk Utility's Restore feature, and take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller. Your computer has got the graphic card soldered into the logic board, so this will be a very expensive repair

  • Why does my mac reboot on its own?

Why does my mac reboot on its own?

Oh den.thed...  I saw your post this morning and I was so excited....  ran to the Mac and got to Energy Saver, and...  the checkbox is already unchecked.
Long story, I'll make it short.  Just got the Mac back after having the HDD replaced.  (It stopped working after less than 500 hours.)  This rebooting thing has been happening ever since I got the computer in 2010, and I was hoping it would coincidentally stop happening after having this crashed HDD replaced last week.  No such luck.  Still doing it, even after getting the computer back from Apple.  Two of my kids have macbooks, have used the cr*p out of them, and have had very few problems (nothing big).  I bought this Mac, to replace a dead Dell desktop that got very little use, and so far I am not sure I did the right thing.  Really wish I could get this "automatic" rebooting thing fixed.  (Reboots with no notice, while doing normal tasks - internet, word docs, etc.)  Thanks again for your help.  Let me know if I should try anything else.

  • P55-GD85 shuts down then reboots on its own?

I have just set up a new P55-GD85, when I shut it down, it reboots on its own?
I would appreciate ideas on how to fix this do do a normal shutdown

Did you try disabling every option in the "Wake Up Event Setup"?
I just checked the Changelog for the latest BETA Releases for your board.  The latest BETA Version is A7585IMS.132 [v1.3b2] and among other things it includes the following fixes that seem to address the problem you are experiencing:
    Quote
    - Fixed WOL still work after disable LAN controller.
    - Fix after use LAN (on PCIE slot) wakup S1,system can't shut down from OS issue.
For you, this means good news:  Your problem is already known and was, at it looks, already fixed.  All you have to do right now is to contact MSI Technical Support and ask them to provide you with that BIOS Release.
    http://support.msi.com/
Once you have the BIOS, ensure that your system is stable and then use the >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< to flash it (please avoid M-Flash or Windows based method for minimum risk).

  • My ipad freezes, reboots on its own and when I try to restore the machine reboots before the process ends

Just bought this ipad in June 2013 and then all of a sudden about two weeks ago, I discovered the machine reboots on its own and would only be active for less than 2 minutes.  I check the auto-lock assigned minutes and it was set on 15 minutes even at this, it will still go off after less than 2 minutes.  I then checked on some of the suggestions on the net for a similar problem and resolved to pressing and holding the sleep/wake button simultaneously with the Home button to force a reboot.  Even at this no change.  Then I tried connecting the machine to a PC logging on to the itunes to do a backup and restore but the machine will not stay long enough to complete the procedure before rebooting on its own.  Any help?

  • HP 2140 Mini reboots on its own...

Hello everybody, I need your help.
My HP2140 Mini reboots on its own after being shut down. This only happens when it's on AC-Power, not when on battery power only. It's due to a software glitch and not due to a faulty power supply.
I had this problem once before and was able to get ahold of a software fix that stopped it from doing it. That software fix came directly from HP and was emailed to all HP2140 Mini owners.
Since I had to reinstall the Operating System again, that software fix is now gone and I don't have the email anymore.
    Can anyone help?

  • My iMac will not wake up from sleep after upgrading to OS X Mavericks

After upgrading to OS X, my iMac will not wake up from sleep.  Each time I have to do a hard restart.  Is there a fix for this problem?

    Hi,
I have just had the same problem with my iMac and after upgrading to Mavericks my iMac would not wake without pressing the power off button and re-booting.
Anyway, I have since done a complete new install on my iMac and have gone 5 days without an issue with the iMac not waking.  It was a bit of a pain to do but my own view so far is that the problem is linked to the upgrading of the OS instead of a clean install.
My iMac now flies with a new OS installed instead of an upgrade.

    Hi Michael,

    The final reference you are seeing via the cli output;

is in relation to the actual 8.6 upgrade process, not the refresh.cop
    The details are in this great doc from Ryan;

  • Rebooting on its own, return it?

Hello all, My Satellite Pro A200-EZ2204X works fine for a while, but will then just reboot on its own. I have reinstalled the OS, drivers, and software twice but it keeps happening after a while. I don't think it is my software because it is all "name brand" stuff from big companies.  This is still new, should I return it?

Most likely the software or hardware you installed caused the problem.  Getting it replaced with another then loading the same software and hardware/drivers on it likey will cause the same problem.  So better to try to figure out what the real cause is.  Try doing another recovery process but don't install your hardware or software, instead test it until you are sure it is working fine.  Then install one new thing at a time and test after each step.  When you find the problem, call the manufacturer of that problem, or do a google search for the problem and the product name as it is likely others have had the same problem.

  • Droid X2 rebooting on its own

My Droid X2 keeps spontataniously rebooting.
As you might imagine, this is a bit annoying. it MIGHT be because of the Amazon cloud player, but it rebooted this AM when I tried to fire up the camera, and it's done that afew times before, also when I tried to open the gallery application.
It rebooted any number of times yesterday but it was running very hot as it was downloading files over the 3g.
Is anybody else having this problem?

It really sounds like you have a rogue 3rd party APP causing your problems. Are there any common APPs that you & your son installed? Can you put your finger on roughly when the issue started - or has this been going on since day 1 with the phone? When you say it happens "a lot" - and assuming by that you mean at least several times a day - I would boot into SAFE MODE and run for an extended period of time, just to see if the problem goes away. if it does NOT reboot on its own, you probably have a 3rd party APP causing your grief. Other options? Just make a list of your APPs and then start Uninstalling them from last-installed date - maybe groups of 5 at a time, then test for a while. A Factory Reset - but turn OFF the automatic reinstall of your Apps.
Let us know if you can't find the procedure to do either of those & we'll direct you to the instructions. (Try SEARCH bar just above).
Oh, and welcome ...  good luck.
edit:  Here's SAFE MODE process per Wildman's post up above :  http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=43641

  • IPhone 5c Rebooting on its own

I upgraded my 5c to 8.0.2 and now my phone reboots on its own. I did a DFU and restore from itunes but that did not solve the issue.  Does anyone have any other Tips that might help?

...the only way i can use an iphone is by unlocking and jailbreaking it
That is likely your problem. Jailbreaking is not discussed here in an Apple forum. Google is your friend regarding this.
