Sounds like a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

But now that I look around on the support site, I see that it says that there are up to two incidents covered for a service fee of $49. Did I really get duped?

No, you were not duped, you were simply not completely informed. Whether that was a result of them not sharing all the information or you only hearing what you wanted, no one here knows.

If another person or company serviced your iPad, your warranty has been voided. Apple will do an out-of-warranty exchange. Have you contacted the original service provider, and complained?

Without AppleCare+, no, not even a free repair. You dropped it, so it's on your dime now. You wouldn't expect free repairs to your car after crashing it into a pole, would you?
Also, note that Apple may not be enthusiastic about repairing it, because a dropped iPad may have other issues beyond a broken screen. Other internal components may have been damaged. Buying a replacement may be the best way of getting back a reliably-functioning iPad. But you could also go with a cheaper repair from a third-party company that will just replace the screen and let you worry about whether or not that repair is sufficient. That kind of repair voids the warranty, but it's already void thanks to the damage anyway.

I can't get my IPad 16 GB to unlock the screen and let my online. message is "icloud backup hasn't been done in 4 weeks" Tried to turn the pad off etc. no results??

Hold Sleep and Home buttons for 10 seconds until the device restarts, so you will be able to use the iPad again.
It will try to make a backup every time your iPad is plugged to the charger and connected to a network. To prevent that this message appears soon, open Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, and choose Backup Now

go to your pc/mac, open itunes, and download the app from the store on your desktop (this will not cost you extra as you have already purchased it). Plug your iPad in to your computer, and navigate to the tab that lets you choose what to put on your iPad. In the Apps section, look for the app, if it is checked (to say it is installed) uncheck it, sync your iPad, then re-check it and re sync. Since the latest Firefox update, the Personas icon (brown fox) that appeared in the bottom left corner, has disappeared. Where did it go and how do I get it back?

I have a Personas account. The brown fox icon was present in the bottom left corner of my screen before the latest version of Firefox downloaded, but is not there anymore. I have to go to the Personas web site now whenever I want to manage my Persona. Previously, all I had to do was click on the brown fox, and do what I wanted to do from there.
Why has this changed, and how to I put it back to the way it was before?
