My iPad plays a sound at the same time (8am) every morning

I'm not sure what's causing it, but my iPad 4 plays a Tri-tone sound every morning at 8am!!!
I'm not sure what's causing it but I want to turn it off from happening. After it plays the Tri-tone sound (just one) at 8am - I check the Lock Screen and there's nothing showing on-screen (notifications) to indicate what's causing it. I don't have any alarms set, and no repeating calendar events set at 8am, or anything obvious to me that would play the sound for any reason.
How can I check what's causing this to turn it off from happening? (I have to remember to mute the sound the night before to stop the sound playing out loud the next morning, but I don't want to have to keep doing this).

It has to be an app or a notification of some type. But tracking it down can be quite a daunting task. I have seen posts like this before, and every one that I have seen could be traced back to app.
I hope that this discussion is of some help, but even if it isn't, this was one of the most entertaining discussions that I have ever been involved in thanks to MrLuigi.

I am switching from gnome to kde, and i did a fresh install (i formatted) the entire system.
The problem is that, for example, before in genome i was able to have songbird playing while a movie was being as well played and if someone talked to me via pidgin, the warning sound would be heard as well....
In kde, if i am listening to amarok, i cannot listen the audio from a video from youtube, and sometimes, while i am listening to music, someone talks to me on kopete, stops the playback on amarok and then plays the new message warning sound...... i understand this is a misconfiguration of my audio system, isn't it?
Where should i start from? I am using xine as sound engine (phonon-xine)-.....

Seems to be a problem with your alsa conf...
But, here with a stupid intel chipset, it works without any configuration !
Maybee your gnome was configured with pulseaudio?

How can I listen to itunes and play a game at the same time on my ipad 4? This means I need to run 2 apps at the same time itunes and my game. The game has its own sound control so I can turn off its sound while i listen to itunes tracks. But I don't know how to set it up so the ipad does both.

Anytime you open an app that has a persistant sound stream - a movie, a podcast, some games - it will overide the music app's stream. nothiong you can do to change it.

I dont get sound for videos, games and music but ringtone still works. When i press volume buttons on side of phone i only get the picture of the nell and no little dots underneath. This is on my iphone 4s and ipad. It happened at the same time.

Recurring theme with the 4s losing alerts except for the phone ringing. Most complaints seem to center on the 7.1 upgrade. The fix is dodgy, putting in a charger, playing a you tube video then pulling out the charger and wiggling it until you get the sound back. When you get the sound back, the volume buttons start to work again. Alternate solutions involve cleaning the docking port with a toothbrush, running a pick over the electrodes etc.

OSS doesn't play more than 1 sound at the same time [SOLVED]

I use OSS to replace ALSA, it used to work properly here. Today I noticed that I can't play more than one sound at the same time, something which I used to be able to do.
Also, ossxmix doesn't operate properly (I can't control the volume of a specific program).
Looks like a permissions issue, because /dev/dsp and /dev/oss are created as root and other users get Permission Denied.
Any ideas how to fix it? My sound card is an AC'97 onboard.

EDIT: Solved by pacman -R oss, rm -rf /usr/lib/oss then pacman -S oss. Seems to have worked.

Hello Angela,
Have you tried resetting the iPod yet to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If that doesn't work, a restore of the iPod via iTunes may be in order.

Can't we listen to 48KHZ and 96 KHZ sounds at the same time?

I have bought E-mu 1212M card. My problem is : I cannot listen to windows sounds or any sound file at 48KHZ when I am at other internal frequencies.
Forexample , when I switch to 96KHZ with Patchmix dsp all the sounds of windows ( media players, applications...) muted and I can only hear 96KHZ applications. So I can use DAW programs at 96KHZ but cannot use other programs to listen to sound files which are usually 44.1 or 48KHZ. I cannot choose them to integrate DAW because of silence.
I want to hear all the sound at the same time. I could do this with my all sound card before. Why can't I use all the sort of sounds ?

Press the home button two time quickly and it will bring up a simple control for controling the music. This works for me with all of the apps I have purchased including games. Just a note you can pull up the same music control if the iPod is a sleep and locked by pressing the button three times quickly.

I just can't listen to an album for the 1/2 to 1 hour that it takes to import it into my library.

Loading and Playing 2 videos at the same time

Hello everyone
I'm having a problem on loading and playing two videos at the same time on XletView.
The background video, I'm loading by editing channels.xml that is located at config folder into xletview folder. I've just to add the file path and when i start the video it starts playing.
But now, I have a problem. I have to load a file that is into my HD, and play it at the same time of the main(background) video.
Do anyone know how to do this?

Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced - and then re-syncing.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
If you want to remove all of the Photos - uncheck the Sync Photos from Heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

I would like to put music under my audio books and my question is "can you play 2 songs at the same time using itunes?"

I am not aware of a way to play two songs at once in iTunes. However, at least on a Mac, you can definitely open and play multiple things in QuickTime player. Sooo, you could open a music file in QT Player then start it and start the audio book in iTunes. Or open the audio book in QT player and listen to that there while iTunes plays music.

That's a new feature introduced in iOS 8 called Handoff. You can start something on your iPhone and finish it on your iPad or Mac. You can make the iPad stop ringing by going to Settings>FaceTime on the iPhone and toggling off iPhone Mobile Calls. You can do it on the iPad also.
