My iPad2 screen cracked by itself

This is a joke...   My iPad screen just started cracking next to the push button.  Has anyone experience this???

Bunk.  If it was quite common that iPad screens crack all by themselves, there would threads a mile long on this and there simply aren't.
To the OP:  You can take your iPad to the Apple Store, but they are likely going to only offer you an out of warranty replacement option (replacing the iPad for about 50% of the purchase price) as accidental damage is not covered under warranty.  And there's no way to prove you didn't accidentaly drop your iPad.

  • Xperia Z3 Screen Cracked by Itself

My screen cracked by itself yesterday after listening to music for about 2 hours. I was wondering whether this is a common problem with the Xperia Z3 and whether i'm applicable for a free replacement or repair?
My phone is only 4 months old and it has never been dropped or damaged. This was a completely random occurrence.

When data roaming is disabled, mobile data traffic is only available via your network operator’s network. By enabling data roaming, you can connect to other networks when you are out of reach of your network operator’s network. Note: This can incur additional data traffic.

  • My Iphone 4s screen cracked by itself!!!

    Hello there,
I went to a dinner tonight and my Iphone was in my bag. I took it out and took some pictures it was absolutely fine. I put the phone back in bag and after coming home I took it out and the screen was all cracked!!! I couldnt believe on my eyes. Without any reason how the screen can be like this!! I didnt drop it anywhere and there was nothing in my bag that can hit it. Also my phone was in a cover and a shield on the screen. Its really really weird.
I'm so much disappointing after buying so much expensive product and getting this result. I still can't understand what happened to the screen.
    Anyone any idea or comments?

it would be best to take it to an apple store because they could examine it and possibly determine the cause of the crack

  • My Ipad2 screen cracked using the logitech keyboard..... Anyone else see the same thing or am i just unlucky?

I have an Ipad2 for nearly 2 years now. I have been using the logitec ultrathin keyboard for 3 months,(love it by the way)
Today the glass broke while not using the keyboard, no harsh treatment just when i closed the cover it broke in line with where it usually sits in the keyboard groove. I suspect that use has fatigued the joint. Anyone else seen this ?
My wife has the same setup so i want to prevent the same thing happening to her as well

I thought that myself, maybe a corrupt file. But like my brothers Ipod, black 4g, same kind. We share the exact same music, and his Ipod is entire okay.
I also tried what you said about moving the Albums slowly, and see which one caused the problem. But shut off is random. Sometimes as soon as I touch the screen to move to the next Album it shuts off, and sometimes it does it on the 2nd, maybe 3rd album. And sometimes it even does it while playing some song. This is the second Ipod in 2 days that this has happened to, I surely hope its a problem on Apple's side.

  • Screen cracked by it self.

My screen cracked by itself, when i was carring it in my bag.
Is there any more screens that have cracked by it self?
My store said that it not covered by the warranty.

This is, of course, after the fact, there are other extended warranties besides Apple's that one can purchase and if purchased when product is new you have the "option" - not automatically included - of purchasing an "accidental" rider for the policy which covers cracked screens, drops, spills, etc. These policies are often cheaper than extended offered by manufacturer's. Squaretrade.com is one. LCD's on small electronics and cameras are notorious for this problem. Does not require abuse. It does happen "spontaneously". To my knowledge it is not usually covered by the manufacturer.

Most of the people on these forums, including myself, are fellow users - you're not talking to iTunes Support here. I've asked the hosts to remove your email address and the iPad's serial number from your post.
Even if the iPad was still within warranty accidental damage wouldn't be covered - only AppleCare+ in the US would cover 2 cases of accidental damage.
You can try contacting one of the authorised repairers in Thailand and ask them what the price for repair/replacement for the iPad 2 is.
From the Thailand iPad service centre page, under the 'Warranty & Service Pricing' section, then 'My Ipad is not eligible for warranty service' : https://locate.apple.com/th/en/

  • Screen Cracked and replaced, now phone wont stay on, and now i cant get it to turn back on

about 3 days ago i dropped my phone and the screen cracked.  Although it was cracked it still worked fine with no issues and the new ios6 was installed prior to it breaking.  I brought it to a iphone repair store where they fixed the screen.  After a day i noticed the phone just turned itself off so i put it on the charger and returned and it was working.  ever since then it has now shut off randomly for no reason, battery was either fully charged or more than 50%.  I hooked it up to my computer to restore it today and it seemed to work for about 3 or 4 hours until it started to turn off on its own.  i would restart it and it would work for a shorter and shorter period of time until now it wont stay on at all.  i plugged it into the charger and it goes through the apple powerup screen and when it turns on it says searching for network in the top left corner.  when i press apps and such it is very laggy and it eventually freezes and the screen fades to black and the cell phone turns off.  I cannot get it to stay on now, even when it stays plugged into the charger...HELP PLEASE!!! is this an apple issue or something the repair shop may be responisble for?????

The reapair shop is probably responsible. And now that you took it to a third party and not to apple store, Apple will not touch your phone at all. So you will probaly have to buy a new one or go back to the reapir shop and hope they can fix it.

  • IPod Nano LCD screen cracking/scratching

i am a possible, going to be nano buyer and i was wondering if anyone who is a owner has had problems with the screen cracking and/or scratching. Also this is a question for owners with the problem and APPLE if the screen gets cracked or overally scratched withing warranty will apple replace it with a new one? also for people in singapore is there anywhere that i can get a 4GB nano, as most places have said they dont have them. thank you
      Windows XP

The screen scratching issue is really going to depend on just how badly you treat the device. I don't know how the screens are getting so badly scratched, and in normal use I can't see anything other than normal wear and tear. My 3G iPod is the same - a few scuffs and scratches, but nothing to stop it working.
If on the other hand you place the nano into your pocket without a protective case, keep change and car keys in the same pocket, then yes, it WILL get scratched. If you drop it or drag it over rough surfaces, if you take a sharp implement to it, if you use abrasive cleaners on it... and probably loads of other 'ifs', you'll get scratches on it.
They are not indestructible and the LCD screen is not harder than diamond. Take care of your Nano and you should be fine.
Taking it back with scratches through normal wear and tear, or through poor care, will not get you a replacement. You would have to show that it was an actual fault with the Nano itself, and I get the distinct feeling most are fine
As for purchasing a 4GB model, have you tried the online Apple store?

  • Macbook screen cracked. How to transfer files from old hard drive to new computer?

I had a 13" white macbook, but the screen cracked, and the computer wouldn't work anymore. I took it to be fixed, but they weren't able to fix it, so they gave me a macbook pro. I asked them to try and transfer the files from my old macbook to the old one, but they said that they couldn't, and gave my the hard drive and said I could have someone else try to fix it for me. How do I connect the old hard drive to my new macbook to see if I can get the files off of it? I don't have the old computer anymore, just the hard drive itself. Thanks!

Sorry, I don't understand all of this stuff. Do I have to buy a certain one for Mac? Or will any enclosure work?  Would this one do what I need? http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/startech-startech-external-hard-drive-enclos ure-with-integrated-usb-cable-sat2510scb-sat2510scb/10192449.aspx?path=9e9804b6f 287edbfe4f83d36c2a6aa71en02

  • Weird screen doing stuff itself

    iPad 2 from october '11
First few months were fine other than magnet in screen cover thing messing with orientation when I turned the screen. Took it off and I was happy. It works now.
But the new issue Is that the extreme right part of my screen sometimes pushes itself and repeats my touches which is very annoying when typing or with ANYTHING on that side because if the URL is there with the screen turned, it might decide to push the back button or try to change the web page or type itself. Same problm with that side with any direction as top of page. Extends about an inch from the right. This is perhaps best demonstrated wheninnnna tappinnnnng game the side lights up at random points. With two fingers then things really get crazy and the whole screen increases and decreases like if i were zooming and shakes around and presses on links. Writing this message itself so far is taking me about an hour,  and not because I can't type! Sorry for weird sounding. Writing,,, tryinnnnng tonnnnn
    shortennnn it....
Is this repairable? I don't mind going to my local store and getting my iPad fixed, but how long would it take? Would it cost anything? Do i need a new one? Is it covered under warranty? The iPad itself is practically perfect anyway and really doesn't have any thing like scratches , dents, or cracks. I'm happy with it, but this unwanted feature is really becoming a problem when I attempt to use it.
A weird thing is it only happens sometimes, maybe every other hour of use. started maybe december, never was wet, suffered a big drop, or had anything unusual.
    What do i do?? Thanks
    Further questions welcome.

your warranty is good through Oct 2012, so I'd make an appointment at the genius bar and see if they can get it to replicate the issue. There may be something wrong and perhaps they can fix it or replace it, but I'd get it documented what it's doing.
Another thing you can try, if you're not sure you can replicate it in the store, videotape you using your iPad and see if you can get the malfunction on video. Might help them diagnose it.

  • S10-3 screen crack for no reason

    Hi,
i bought my netbook S10-3 about 5 months ago.
Since then, I've been taking a very good care of my netbook.
But today when i opened it, there was a crack acroos the screen.
It was fine until yesterday on my desk, and I never dropped it nor stepped on it.
I just put it in my backpack to go to school and took out from the case, and there was a crack.
I am 100%  sure there was no mechanical impact or damage to my netbook or even to my backpack.
so i called Lenovo, and they say "LCD crack" cannot be covered under warranty,
and I need to pay "$280" to replace the screen.
I don't know how this happened. Yeah. of course the screen cannot crack by itself, but still i don't understand.
Is there any way that this problem can be solved under warranty? or at least in a less expensive way?
I am a poor college student, and there is no way i can afford $280 right now.
    Thank you

  • Droid Razr Maxx Screen Cracked

Upgraded to the Maxx from the Droid X in April. Bought the Otter Box Commuter. Went to Verizon store in June due to poor reception (low bars) and frequent data (both WiFi and LTE) connection drops. Store rep told me it was a problem with the simm and swapped the card- no questions no charge. No improvement. Because I wasn’t actually dropping calls, I chalked it up to the phone model and didn’t go back to the store or CS regarding a replacement. BIG MISTAKE> Two days ago I made a call and put the Maxx (in the otterbox) in the front pocket of my loosely fitting shorts as I was standing in line at a store. I felt the phone vibrate as I got my food, put the tray on the table and retrieved the phone from my pocket before I sat down and the phone display would not light up. The phone was also unusually hot to the touch. I looked closer and found the inside screen cracked. There was no crushing, dropping, or impact of any kind. The phone was in the otterbox, screen side against my thigh, in my pocket. The screen has multiple cracks under the gorilla glass. I went to the Verizon store yesterday and the rep said he’d heard it about ‘digitizers’ cracking without impact before. He told me to read the forums because it’s a known issue, and then call CS about the defect because I have no insurance (didn’t think I needed it because I’m careful, I bought the case, and the Droid X was built like a sherman tank). I found many posts here and elsewhere about my issue. I called Verizon CS and to her credit the woman I spoke with was phenomenal. She explained that she would send a replacement phone. She then said she was worried about me being charged up to $300 if the phone showed signs of damage upon inspection. She told me that warranty replacements are not ALWAYS inspected thoroughly, but that an impending charge was a possibility. I was adamant the phone was defective as there was no evidence of impact on the outside glass itself. I referenced the forms here and that many people are complaining of the same issue. She told me that, if I was charged, to call back and refute it. She then proceeded to review my data usages and adjust my contract accordingly to save me about $20 per month. I agreed to the warranty replacement and new phone was shipped yesterday to arrive on 9/27 via USPS. I was informed that a box/label would be sent and I would have to mail my defective phone within 5 business days of receiving the box. I am still able to use the phone to make calls with my car’s Bluetooth. Now I am waiting for the box and new phone to arrive. I’ll send the defective one in and follow the CS rep’s advice to “keep my fingers crossed” with regard to whether or not the phone will be flagged as damaged. If so and I am charged, it will appear on my November bill. I’m hoping for the best, but dubiously expecting to make a frustrating phone call around Election Day. I figure, if I am charged the $300, I can subtract $200 due to the savings off my bill from the account adjustment. And, not having to deal with Motorola refusing to fix it will be worth the other $100. Having the phone repaired by Motorola isn’t an option because I don’t want to be without it for 2 weeks on top of the costs I would incur. I sat down and compared the Maxx to my old X and the difference is remarkable. The X case is metal and minus the Kevlar back, the Razr is plastic. If I do receive a replacement, I expect the new Maxx to break before my contract is up NEXT December. The Razr is lighter and thinner than my old X. But I can’t in good conscience upgrade to another Moto phone- warranty or not, I want a quality product for my money. My question is, has anyone with this or a similar issue had luck with a warranty replacement? What are my chances?

What you experienced is the reason i have T.E.C. on both of my Maxx's it's a little more Money that comes out of the Pocket at bill Paying time but having it kind of pays off in the Long Run..
