Ive done some googling and found you can erase a passcode and restore a phone to factory settings using itunes... if this happens and someone tries to do it with my phone- will i be notified???
No, you will not receive notification if someone restores your iPhone
as new via iTunes. If you had set up Find my iPhone prior to the loss,
you could remotely wipe your iPhone if it was connected to the internet
without being restored. If your iPhone is restored by someone else, all
data on it will be lost.
If you had no lockscreen password on your iPhone,
all of your data was accessible to whoever has it. Change all your passwords
immediately. Report the theft to the police and your cellular provider. In some
countries, cellular providers will block the iPhone from being used in that
country but block does not apply elsewhere. Sorry to hear of your loss.

The instructions are in that link. Just follow them VERY CAREFULLY. Especially the part about:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes. [but DON'T connect it to the iPhone yet]
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see the iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. -
My iPad has a white screen after trying to restore. I try and restore again and the same thing happens and we are back at the white screen. How can I get it back?
type HT4097 in the search bar. its unable to update or restore iOS. Follow the instructions and if that does not work then id go to the local apple store.

I tried updating iphone 6 to 8.1.3 But the phone went dead. I have tried using restore options - both update and erase, but the process stops when it tries to update Iphone firmware.
Put your phone in DFU mode,
Hold the Power Button (3 secs)
Continue holding the power button and also hold the home button (15 secs)
Release the power button while continuing to hold the home button (10 secs)
Your device should prompt with the "Connect to iTunes Screen"

i tried to update my jailbroken iphone 3gs to iOS 6 and i tried to activate it using redsn0w it uploaded but the phone didn't activate, then i tried to restore it in iTunes and it also wasn't working it shows 3194 error. Please help!

Ok. You don't have to select your number. Just check your email under your "grey" number and then at the bottom of this page you will see the option "Start new conversations from". Select your number.

Connect it to your computer and open iTunes on the computer. Select your phone under Devices in the iTunes sidebar. Click on the Restore button. If you don't see a Restore button for some reason, then use the following to put your phone into Recovery mode:

all my iphone 3gs shows is connect to itunes when i plug it up to charge. and if i dont have it plugged up it would constantly show the apple emblem on the black screen and then disappear (it will do this on and off quite a bit). i tried to restore it on itunes and after it was all done an error (23) popped up. i really need someones help to fully fix this problem please!

If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart. -

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

I am, however, asking only for future reverence, as the initial sync which generated the error dialog was done via USB, and almost immediately after the USB sync, I ran a WiFi Sync—two in a row in fact—both initiated from the iPhone. Both WiFi syncs completed successfully with no error dialog.
I then ran another USB sync initiated from iTunes on the Macintosh, as was the first sync which gave the error. This second USB sync also completed successfully with no errors.
I think someone in this thread mentioned non-AppleStore products or DMR issues which I think could not have been an issue in my case, as I was running the sync to install updated Apps from the AppStore, and additionally had deleted some music and movie items to make sure there was room for the App updates. Nothing was added other than the recently downloaded App updates from the AppStore.

Hi there. I have 3GS and tried to up-date it today (19 Feb 2013) with iTunes and now I can't activate it! it shows the "Your iPhone could not be activated. tha activation server is unavailable...". The iPhone has never been jailbroken!!!
