My iPhone 4S has no sound including alerts, keyboard, through speaker or when on you tube pandora etc through speaker. All settings are on and mute switch is set to allow sound. HELP!!!

My iPhone 4S will not make any sounds for alerts, rings, keyboard clicks, or when using apps no sound through speakers. All sound settings are set to on and the mute switch shows it's allowing sound

tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
NOTE: No data will be lost just reset the settings,such as wallpaper

Try hard reset.
Hold down the sleep and home button until the screen goes black. Turn the phone back on.
If that doesn't work, back up the iphone using iTunes.
Re-install the iOS by putting the iPhone into DFU (recovery mode.)
To do this,
Make sure the phone is pluged in to you computer with iTunes open.
Hold the Sleep and home button until the screen goes black, immediately release the sleep button but continue to hold the home button.
After a few seconds your iTunes should recognize your phone in DFU mode.
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
At this point you should click on "Restore iPhone"
After your phone is done restoring, don't start as new iPhone. Restore from back up.
If that doesn't work, you're SOL.
Take it to Apple. Tell them they are stupid.

Mine is iPhone 4S (warranty is void). I'am having the same problem. Sometimes back to normal (after idle for a while), but not last. Turning off the phone raises back the issue.
- On volume up/down button clicked: Ringer overlay is shown but not bars
- No lock/unlock sound
- No notification sound
- It's ringing when receive phone call or set volume from Sound setting
- After turned off, iPhone won't turn on unless plugged to charger
I've done these:
- Cleaned up charging port
- Dryed the iPhone (hairdryer; below the sunlight) - just in case
- Reset all settings
I haven't restore the phone since I'm not sure if messages, mails, WhatsApp, LINE (etc) histories will back after synced from backup.
I read that deleting com.apple.iapd.plist (Root>System>Library>LaunchDaemons) can fix this, but it needs jailbraking (iFile/iExplorer) which I don't want to. I'm not sure if some apps crash with latest iOS update and cause this.

RAID 1 comes up degraded after reboot, even though all components are new and no data is on the drives. . help!

Hi there, I'm trying to build a RAID1 (mirrored) from 2 identical drives in an external 2 bay enclosure. I'm able to build the RAID set, and it ends up having an online status when I'm finished. I'm also able to copy data to the new RAID and work on it. However when I restart my computer the next day, the RAID comes up as degraded and automatically starts the (9 hour!) rebuild process, even if there is no data on the RAID (I've destroyed and recreated the RAID several times). I've already erased both drives with the zero out option to map out any possible bad blocks, and I've also checked the connections in the enclosure and reseated the drives, although they mount just fine as individual disks. I'm kind of at a loss here. Any advice or experience with a similar issue? The drives and enclosure are all brand new (I know not a guarantee, but it's a bit early for work related failure as they've not been in use for more than a week.) I'm running 10.6.8 on a 17" Laptop 2.66gHz Quad core with 8gig of RAM. Enclosure is connected through USB 2.0. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

check and make sure that an alert style has been choosen for certain alerts, and make sure you check your sounds in settings

And no, if your phone is vibrating when you get texts/calls then you're not in Do Not Disturb. You would see a Crescent Moon symbol to the left of Battery % if it was on.
