My iPhone 5 can't make calls or send receive texts after update to iOS 8.0.

sa shortly after I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.0.2, I started noticing that it keeps dropping the connection to AT&T. It keeps switching from LTE to 4G then drops the connection and finally says "searching". It does this continuously. If I make or receive a call, the call disconnects after a few seconds or never connects. Most of my messages say "unable to deliver".
ive tried rebooting. I've tried reset to factory and restore, but nothing fixes it.
basically I now have an iPod Touch at this point.
the wifi works fine, but strangely GPS doesn't work most of the time.
any ideas? I can't downgrade to iOS 7.x since it is no longer signed by Apple

This is a secret plot by Apple to disable the phones of jerks.

  • Why won't my phone make calls or send/ receive texts, yet Internet works?

I have an iPhone with sprint, and it has worked more than amazingly prior to this. It wasn't until last night around 12am that this started. I have had the phone for 4 to 5 months now. The bars in the top left are flat and occasionally one will pop up. I can t make calls and texts are slow to or just don't send at all. I was messing around on my download app in the browser and it closed and then thu problem arises. I have deleted the app even turned on and off my phone several times and turned airplane mode on and off several times. Please help:/

Is this problem the same in other locations?  For me, I get poor phone reception in my elevator, but OK elsewhere.

Have you checked that all network toggles are ON...

Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.

  • I just upgraded my iPhone4s to iOS7 and now I am unable to make phone calls and send/receive text messages. Network signal indicator on the upper left side of the display shows hollow circles instead of full circles. Any idea how to fix the problem?

I just upgraded my iPhone4s to iOS7 and now I am unable to make phone calls and send/receive text messaes. Network signal indicator on the upper left side of the display shows hollow circles instead of full circles (but with the network provider name). I checked with my colleagues in the office who use the same network and theirs work just fine on iOS7. Any idea how to fix the problem?

I have also called my service provider and my service remains active in the network. I tried removing and reinserting my SIM but to no avail.

  • My iPhone 5 suddenly could not hop onto LTE anymore, after updating to IOS 6.1

My iPhone 5 suddenly could not hop onto LTE anymore, after updating to IOS 6.1. I know there is LTE coverage at my house, since before I updated it, it could hop on to LTE just fine, in the same location. My Carrier is CSL Hong Kong. Does anyone have this problem? If so, does anyone have a answer to it?

    Hi AEEA-Family,
I also did the update this morning and had the same problem also on Vodacom. The whole morning after the update I have No Signal, turning the phone on and of gives you signal for a couple of minutes then it drops again to no signal.
I've just made the following changes on my Phone and all seems ok again.
Here are the steps I took to resolve it on my phone.
    1. Go to "Settings" > "Carrier" > Turn off "Automatic", wait for list of Carriers and select "Vodacom-SA"
    2. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Cellular" > Turn off "Enable LTE"
    3. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Cellular" > "Cellular Data Networks". Then Change EVERY APN from lte.vodacom.za to internet
After I made all those changes I did a hard restart of the phone and now all seems fine.
I suspect the update this morning Enabled all Vodacom's LTE settings, yet Vodacom is not 100% LTE yet in our areas and this is causing the problem.
    Hope this helps other people.

  • Send/Receive issues after update

    I updated to 3.1
Phone will sometimes refuse to complete calls, and receive incoming calls.
It also refuses to send/receive text messages.
The only fix is complete restart.
It has happened at least once a day.
Anyone else have this issue? Or know a way to fix this other than to wait for Apple to release a new update?

Yes, I receive text messages delayed, and my outgoing messages sometimes fail.

  • I am having problem with iphone 4s, I can not make calls or send text message? Please help.

The problem is presistant. I tried to send the text message but it does not leave the phone, it is only delivered after I turn the phone off and then turn it on again. Only then it gets delivered and even that is only for that moment.
Secondly, I can not send or recieve the calls as well.
Thirdly, after I make a call, the calling screen gets stuck and I can not talk to the current caller or dial to another caller.
Note: I have 'Not" dropped my iphone any where uptil now and I keep it in a pouch to protect it. The problem started recently and before that it worked fine. The problem started when I turned off the phone and after an hour or 2, I turned it on again.
The signals of the service provider is coming perfectly. I haven't found any problem with there service yet.

Network unavailable means the phone is detecting and using the SIM, else you would get a NO SIM error.
It means that Sprint does not exist in the Ukraine (obvious), and Sprint does not have any interconnection agreement with a local carrier. Hence, the phone can't talk to anyone, carrier-wise. You need to get a SIM from a local carrier and try again. If it works, you're all set and the phone is indeed unlocked. Else you have been conned and will need to go and complain with whomever sold it to you.

  • Iphone 4s wont make calls or send texts/ iMessage not working

My iPhone 4s just recently started showing 'No Service" in the top left corner of the screen and iMessage will not activate either. It switches off from no service to having service. I cannot make calls either. Ive tried calling *228 but my phone will not make the call. I cant send regular text messages either it just comes back as message failed to send. As you can see this is very frustrating as I need my phone to do the basics of texting and calling. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some things to try.
Call Customer Service and ask them to check your local towers
    Hard reset of the phone.
Reset the Networks on the phone settings.  Settings > General > scroll to bottom > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Back up to iTunes on a computer and restore

  • IPhone 4S no longer recognizes back camera or flash after updating to iOS 7.1.1

I tried force quitting the camera app, then resetting, and restoring.
The camera app displays a black screen and is nonfuncitonal.
Any other apps that use the back camera are unable to use it.
Flashlight app, which uses the flash, reports that no flash is detected.
This happened right after installing iOS 7.1.1 so I don't believe it is a hardware problem.
I think it is a bug in iOS 7.1.1 for the iPhone 4S.
    What can I do?

    Hello DanMBoston,
It sounds like you are unable to use the flash or the rear camera since updating to iOS 7.1.1 even after quitting the app, restarting and restoring from a backup. That is where I would have started as well. I would next restore your device one more time, but as a new device rather than from a backup with this article:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If it works when set up as a new device, restore from your backup to see if it still works, or if there is an issue with the backup file.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Iphone 3Gs won't sync music, photo's etc after updating to iOS 5.1. Need help!

I recently updated my iOS on my Iphone 3Gs and it won't sync any of my music or photo's. I'm extremely frustrated and annoyed that I can't put any of my music or photo's onto my Iphone as the new iOS (5.1) won't sync.
I've done everything I can think of. I've done everything people have said that would work for them from the internet and nothing has worked. I need help!

  • Just got my iPhone 6, i used iCloud backup to get my information on it, everything is on there but i can't make calls or send iMessage. Help?

help! I need to be able to use this before 7 o'clock

I activated two new iPhone 6's today, both times I ended up having to call in to get them activated properly. I was able to restore all my settings from the cloud ok, just could not get them activated automatically. Had to wait on hold a bit, but both times once I got someone on the phone they got them activated quickly with no problems.

  • IPhone can't make calls, won't play voicemail

I bought my iPhone in September, and it has been great up until today. Now, the phone doesn't ring (or vibrate), and when I try to make a call, I hear no dial tone, and the call fails after nothing happens for about 50 seconds. I can't hear my voice mails that I am receiving. Obviously, I'm not aware of incoming calls. I am able to receive and read text messages.
I have version 1.1.4. Is there something I can do to remedy this or does the iPhone need to be repaired?
I have checked the settings, and everything appears to be on. However, I just tested the iPod, and while I get music out of the earpieces, I don't get anything out of the iPhone when I remove the earpieces.
    Any suggestions?

This is a bug inherent to the iPhone. A sensor in the headset jack thinks there are headphones plugged in. A way to verify that is to try and increase/decrease the volume on the phone, and you should see the bell and earphone/headset displayed by the bell. Insert the headphones and remove them several times. That usually corrects the issue. If not, you can try a reset, but pressing and holding the home and sleep/wake buttons until you see the Apple logo, then releasing. That restarts the OS software.
    Hope this helps you out.
