My iPhone5s died when I was updating
I was in the midst of the update of 7.0.1 and it died COMPLETELY, I've tried all the solutions I could find online including pressing the home and off button together and using the silent button and home button etc etc. NONE worked, the only choice i have is to RESTORE my phone via the computer iTunes, ALL MY DATA AND STUFF WERE ERASED AND GONE. I update my phone frequently, however I could not find a single restore to get back to my original state. So i started with a factory mode phone and have to download the apps, email, documents all over again. ALL my IMPORTANT email and documents were never to be found. I even called up the Apple support CS to ask for advice and all they could tell me is to restore to factory mode(which i already knew way before I called them). LOL, so much for being a Apple expert.
An advise to the rest, especially those businessman/woman, or those doing super big business, do not use iPhone as you'll risk losing everything whenever you're updating your software. Super bad experience, never going to update my iPhone, ipad, macbook pro or macbook air ever.

First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.

When you log into you icloud account on your computer you are viewing data that you sync to icloud not the backups. You can't view the backups.

Did you add or change your credit card details on your iTunes account when downloading them ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

i have macbook pro i got it from craiglist, when i was updating the oprating sestem its asking me for sestem unlocking pin? where can i get it from?
I would recommend wiping the system and reinstalling the OS for any used system. OS X does not have any "unlocking pin" of sorts so this may be from some third-party software on the system. The system does have a "firmware password" option that can be set to prevent booting to alternative boot environments (ie, external hard drives, safe mode, etc), but this will not prevent system updating.

unfortunatley i forgot to perform a backup in that time span as well....
is there a way of recovering txt msgs photos and other saved data from a particular span? without backups?Without a backup there is no way to recover data.

When i was updating i phone version 4 from Itunes. It got stuck in middle of updating, after uninstall the version3. But new version was not installed. Now itunes is not detecting the iphone and iphone is also not working and showing connection cable with itunes. Pls help..
Check your system for possible Malware. But you have to do it in WIndows Safe Mode.
(Do not use your own Anti-virus to SCAN)
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to this link download a free version of Malwarebyte.
