My ipod 4th gen is stuck on the apple logo. Happened while on low battery, then i plugged in. iTunes nor the computer will recognize my ipod. I have Jailbroken with absinthe. Please help
so yeah, whats in the title. Holding the power and menu button wont work. Jailbroke with absinthe green poison for ios 5.1 it was working fine until i plugged it in at low battery. Then the apple logo thing happened. my laptop wont recognize it, itunes wont either. HELP!!
Or to not be a jerk like the guy above, try recovering it through itunes.
Step 1
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone via USB.
Step 2
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
Step 3
Continue holding the both buttons until your iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone/iPod in recovery mode.

4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.

Hi Shootist. I would be interested in hearing some reasoning on this. I almost always use a USB cable to connect my camera to the MBP for transferring pictures, and have moved about 30,000 this way over the last 6 years since my photography went digital. Recently, on the rare occassions when I have only a few to transfer and I was too lazy to go for the cable, I have used the card reader; about half those times I have difficulty getting the MBP to recognise the card. I find I have to press the card very hard into the slot for it to be recognised.
My rationale is quite possibly wrong, but I feel that the USB connectors are more robust and hard-wearing than the flimsy connectors on an SD card. Also, I haven't measured it, but I think the data transfer is faster with the cable. (I just came across this test, which reports noticeably faster transfer for cable than built-in card reader, but the computer was a PC)

Well plug it in again, and then hold the "Lock" and "Home" button at the same time for about 10 seconds. See if that helps.

This happens to all the time and this is what I normally do. (Press and hold the pwer button until the computer shuts down) but, this doesn't seem to answer the real issue. Its just like you cut of the power to shut it down.

so i connected my Ipod touch 4th gen to my pc to try and update to latest software. when i plugged it in and went through the steps and the ipod started extracting and installing sofware an unknown error came up and wouldnt do anything else. have tried restoring multiple times and wouild not work. a few days ago something similar happened to my iphone 4. was updating apps and then all of a sudden wouldnt get any reception. i attempted to restore and nothing.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

So, my iPod has been acting weird since I updated to iOS 5.1.1 It gets fully carged and dies in three minutes. Well now it gets stuck on the apple logo at startup. Hey Edgar, how exactly did you do the updates? Are you running iTunes 11.2.2? And you iPod 5 is still running iOS 6.1.2 as your tag shows? or are you running iOS 7.1.1? More info would be helpful. Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed: C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
Right-click the SC Info.sidb file shown and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.
