My ipod after charging and disconnecting it stayed on the eject screen,...then it went to the apple screen and is clicking... it will not play
I charged my Ipod 8gb yesterday and after disconnecting it was frozen onthe Ejecting screen... afterletting it run out of battery I now see the apple on the screen and it has a clicking noise that it hasnever had before

Have you tried resetting both the iPod and dock? To reset the iPod, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
To reset the dock, unplug it and plug it back in.

My Ipod touch 2nd generation has been freezing today. We have updated, restored etc and now it will not play any music - as in no sound coming from it. It looks as if it is playing, but no sound comes out. It played ok 2 days ago. Any suggestions?
So, here is an update to my original question, in case anyone else has this issue. I spoke with a senior adviser at apple, who had me use the "devmgmt.msc" command in the search line of Windows 7; after expanding the USB controllers menu, she had me uninstall/delete the "apple mobile device driver" and then open "control panel" and "uninstall programs." Once the menu of programs was open, she had me highlight the program "apple mobile device controller", then repair it, and restart the computer. This fixed the issue and the iPod synced.
However, just one day ago, when I plugged in both the iPod, then the iPad (not at the same time), I get the message that "this library has already been synced to another iPod/iPad or other IOS device." It then asked if I wanted to set up as a new device or from restore of previous. That is wher I am right now; I am trying to get the same apple adviser again to discuss the case number. My ipod is not recognised by my computer and will not play at all
My Ipod is jammed, it will not play on its dock or with ear phones. It just says do not disconnect. I tried to plug it into my computer but Itunes will not pick it up. It is being recognised by windows though. I don't know how to solve this problem as it just won't do anything!! Any help or advice greatly appreiciated!
Here's an idea. Switch the hold switch on, then off. Now, hold menu and select untill you see the apple logo, (it should only take 6-10 seconds but if you find nothing happens after a minute, let go).

About a month ago I added some new audio books to my iPod Classic and then after disconnecting, I discovered EVERYTHING had been erased.
I had to restore through my iTunes but then I could not load my music back on.
I uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes and completely reformated the iPod drive.
I successfully got my music and books back on but then added a new book two days ago only to discover everything got erased AGAIN!!!
Of course, my 1 Year Warranty was up about a week before the first incident.....
I formatted the iPod again, uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes (it was freezing during sync) and downloaded all my music and books again.
Now I have several books that will not play (they play on iTunes and they played on the iPod before all these events) and the iPod does not keep track of where I was in a book when I have to stop and go to something else.
Does anyone know what is going on with this thing??? I have a 5th Gen Video and in all the years I've had it, I've NEVER had problems like this!
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get my iPod Classic up and running properly again?
Thanks.When iTunes/iPod sync process failed due to timeout, the iPod, has only the initilaised filesytem structure at the start of the Sync.
The timeout failure could be due to
Bad hardisk - do the iPod disk diagnostic, refer to this excellent post by tt2
Slow USB port or resource - Dont use any USB hub, disconnect all other USB devices while syncing
Timeout due to Antivirus or other plugins - disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus or monitoribng software if you are syncing.
Preferably stop doing other things while syncing this ancient device, which the latest iTunes designer, think will soon be extinct.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My new ipod will not play when it is being charged..., it keeps saying "Do not disconnect". Is it normal. If so this ***** !!! Or is there a setting I have overlooked !?
Gosh, I am a techie and I am having so many problems with this crap & iTunes. Why the fcuk can it not just copy Directory structure (which has music files, photos, etc.) as is and not have to create freakin Playlist.
Finally I found EphPod, but that thing will not do vidoes and photos.

Have you Restored the iPod?
if I eject ipod manually from the cradle or by ejecting it using iTunes. But then it stops charging.
Your USB ports shut off when the iPod is Ejected.
Here’s how to fix that.
1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
3. Click the Hardware tab.
4. Click Device Manager.
5. Scroll down the list of devices to the Universal Serial Bus controllers
6. Click the plus icon next to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
7. Double-click one of the indented USB Root Hub entries.
8. Click the Power Management tab.
9. Deselect the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.
10. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
11. Restart the computer.
Also, about the playlist, if you do not create them, how will you sort or find from 1000's of music files
You can use playlists but you don’t have to.
On the iPod they are already sorted by;
Artist
Albums
Songs
Genre
Composers
EPHPod automatically creates a Playlist using the Directory name. Why can't iTunes do the same.

Songs transferred to Ipod will not play in Itunes and don't show in Ipod
I have had a nano for a good 6+ months and have yet to be able to fill it up with music. Under 200 songs it is a crap shoot whether or not the songs will show up after I eject it. If I load 200+ songs to the Ipod one of two things happen. 1. After ejecting the Ipod none of the songs i loaded show up on it, and after linking it back to the computer, itunes tells me that it must be restored. 2. a good number of songs will not play but are skipped over. The album art shows for a split second and goes to the next song. The next time I plug it into my computer it says that It does not recognize it and forces me to restore it again.
I have done the following among other things.
1. Repeatedly restored my ipod, this does not help.
2. Re-installed Itunes and Quicktime.
3. Loaded only AAC files.
4. Turned off Spy Sweeper while before plugging in my Ipod and load songs.
5. Disabled Norton Anti-virus.
6. Confirmed how I am ejecting it.
6. Replaced my Ipod once.
7. Bought a new computer HP Pavillion a1630n.
8. Invested well over 40 hours of my time trying to get this thing to work.
I have over 200GB of music which and I cannot get much more than 2GB on my 4GB Ipod without a problem. As of this writting I have restored it 6 times, after each time I drag my songs to the Ipod icon, when it is done loading, I press the eject icon next to the IPod and each time I click English-->Music-->Artists--> and after that all I get is All-->All-->Nothing. I plug it back into the computer and have to restore it and start over. I have had the same problem on two Ipods, and two Computers. I want this to work so bad. Help Help Help.The exact message that I get each time I plug my Ipod back in states, "iTunes cannot read teh contents of the iPod "MILOPOD." Go to the summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
I am continually restoring my Ipod over and over again reducing the number of songs on it over and over until I get lucky enough for the songs to stick. Only about 100 or so will regularly stick. I am now restoring it for the 7th time. -
Connect to car, IPOD Classic pauses and will not play
Hello to all,
First of all I am not very good at computer stuff. I used my IPOD Classic for about three months with a car kit and all was fine. All of a sudden it stopped playing. I figured out that the IPOD pauses when it is connected to the wire from the car. I have tried connecting it with the car off, on, radio off, on all with the same result, as soon as the IPOD detects the wire it pauses. My radio will only play the IPOD not control it. Any ideas?? This is driving me mad. I don't understand why it worked for months and then suddenly stopped. Thanks in advance for any help.
MattI'm having the same problem. I updated my ipod in itunes and now my car's usb deck will not recognize the ipod. It had been working for years without a problem. I emailed kenwood and they said apple pushed out an update that is causing compatibility issues with car decks. They suggested a "soft reset" which did nothing. Kenwood told me to contact Apple and Apple wants me to pay for support. Guess I'll surf around this forum till I find a way to revert back to an older version of the ipod software.

Since my IPOD Touch upgraded to IOS 8.1.2 it will not play well with my 2013 Charger's UConnect entertainment system. It will not build a library so I can not Browse or Shuffle. The only thing it does is list all the songs alphabetically when connected via USB.
- Contact the manufacturer/go to their support site.
- Sometimes this works
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Sometimes and ISO update breaks compatibioity and a firmware update the the dock is required or an iOS update is required.
Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple. -
Ipod Nano will charge but will not play on dock

My ipod nano (1st Gen) will charge but will not play on my philips DS7550/05 Docking station.
When i phoned Apple support they told me maybe it was because my ipod was not compatable with the Docking station but to follow that up i checked the system requirements and my ipod is perfectly compatable with this docking station.
Other ipods do work on this Dock. I tried resetting my ipod but that did not work. My ipod works fine through headphones, syncs through my computer and charges fine when i plug it into the dock but simply will not play music!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
ThanksNot in particular. The fact that the iPod does not play when connected to any other docks could mean either the 1G Nano does not have the ability to output sound via it's dock connector port or yours in particular has gone bad.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

You can't. Apps and really all content purchased/downloaded through one Apple ID is forever tied to that Apple ID. In the case of Apps they will always request that Apple ID to update as they are licensed to that Apple ID.
In reality, the Apps were licensed to that Apple ID by the developer. And cannot simply be given away to you for you to use.
He should have wiped the iPod clean so you could set it up for your use without any of his accounts or purchased content as you are not really licensed to any of those Apps.
