If you do not have, or remember, the passcode for Restrictions, the only option available to you is to reset the device to factory settings via itunes.

So my home button stopped working due to water damage. I put it in the microwave(for real no joke) so the water can evaporate. 2 seconds in and the screen sparked blue and now its not working any suggestions on helping me fix it?

Hey Peter, I think your missing the big picture. Your iPod is past repair, corrosion, is a real issue with water damage, but your problem took a turn for the worst when you attempted to use a microwave to dry it out. I see you found another post from July 2012, where someone else tried to nuke there iPod, and got the same results you have-- a dead iPod. The blue sparks, burnt smell and still not working all confirms one thing... Your iPod is not repairable. What the water didn't damage the microwave did. By attempting to microwave, you for all intensive purposes hit your iPod with an EMP, (Electro-Magnetic Pulse), in the first split second you overloaded the workings of your iPod and burned it up! There is is no way of known which circuits and components have been damaged and to what extend. You may be able to get a refurbished iPod, but it is unclear that Apple will allow it, because of the type of damage, it's not like this was an accident, you deliberately put it in the microwave in a misguided attempt to dry it out. when the microwave turned on it hit ever chip, diode, capacitor etc. with more power than it was designed to handle, in short; you baked it, burned it up, fried it, call it what you want, but it's not going to work! To attempt to repair is a meaningless gesture, (and probably will cost more than it's worth), chalk this one up as bad ideas 101-- learn from it, move on, and get yourself a new iPod. You can't backup the iPod then.
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and restore via iTunes:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If data is not in the backup then:

You can try Restoring it in iTunes but I believe you will end up needing to have it serviced.

They can fix it at the Apple Store. I wish you could get it fixed for free, but the warranty doesn't cover accidents like this . It sounds like you understand this, I just want to make sure you know.

What is your GarageBand version? Are you using the most recent GarageBand 10.0.x or an earlier version?

The rhythmic notation in GarageBand is the best estimate, based on the length of the notes you played and the "quantize" settings. You can correct the score somewhat by adjusting the note values in the Piano Roll view and by selecting notes and picking a suitable time quantize setting in the track editor, e.g., if you wanted to play triplets, set the quantize value correspondingly:
But I never could get GarageBand to show the dotted notes and rests correctly.
If your main goal is to create a musical score and not to mix music, better use notation software instead of GarageBand.

My iPod has two small dots on it. The first one is red and the other is white. The red one came first and a few weeks later the white one showed up. Can I take it to the Apple store and have it exchanged?

I've had it for less than a year and noticed a few weeks ago that it had a red dot on the center of the screen. About a week ago I noticed another dot, a white one, right next to it. I've never dropped it and even went out of my way to buy a decent case to keep it safe. I spent over 200$ on my 4Gen iPod Touch it and I'm very concerned that these dots will spread across my screen.
