  • Why is iTunes 11 taking so long to sync music to my iPod Touch Gen 5?

I have the latest version of iTunes installed on my Macbook, mid-2012 (Mountain Lion OS). I recently upgrade my iPod Touch 5 (64GB) to iOS7, and in the process, was forced to reload all 10,000+ or so songs in my library onto the iPod again.  I have the conversion checkbox set to "128K" for my music, so that I can cram more songs into the iPod, and it literally took 32 hours before the "syncing" stopped.  I tried again, just for the **** of it, with the conversion unchecked, and it was much faster, but still took 5-6 hours to transfer a reduced number of songs.  Before iOS 7, and before the new iTunes revision, this process, with conversion, took a couple of hours for 10,000 songs - maybe a little more - but certainly nowhere near 30 hours!
Is anyone else having this experience?

Try to rename the cert8.db file in the Firefox profile folder to cert8.db.old or delete the cert8.db file to remove intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.
If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed cert8.db.old file.<br />
Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the cert8.db.old file to cert8.db to restore the previous intermediate certificates.<br />
Firefox will automatically store intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send such a certificate.
If that didn't help then remove or rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) as well.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Reinstalling of os x lion taking a long time! help?

    Hello!
I am having such a frustrating time with the reinstalling of the os x lion.
At one point of the download it has told me it would take 180 hours to complete! (it's unbelievable!) I mean I know that the computer goes through recalculations over the time of the download but the download bar doesn't even hit half way even after several hours.... All it says is "Downloading Additional Contents"
Before I started to reinstall the os x I had cleaned out my disk and everything.
Please if anyone could help it would really mean the world as I want to get my laptop back to working again.
Is there anyway I can fix this or anything?

Which parts of what I said you don't know what I meant?
If you only want something to happen when the value of the boolean switch changes, then maintain the value of the boolean in a shift regsiter or feedback node so that you can compare it between the last iteration and the current iteration.  If the values are not equal, put your switching code in the case structure.  Then use the current value of the boolean wire to determine whether to send one constant or the other to the DAQmx Switch function.
    See the modified VI.
I think those DAQmx functions for the switch are rather odd.  They say they are DAQmx, but generally DAQmx functions will output a task wire to string along to later functions.  It allows you to have multiple functions operating on different equipment at the same time without the the DAQ functions getting confused.  I don't know why these Switch functions don't have this.

  • Why are my contacts taking so long to sync to icloud from my imac

I have allowed my iMac to remain on and Contacts remains "actively" syncing to iCloud, but the number of contacts is still far apart on iCloud (2037) Contacts on iMac 3848).  This has been going on for several days.
Plus the speed of the iMac has dramatically slowed and it appears to go into sleep mode after a very short period of time.

Not sure what you are downloading, but it isn't a 4MB music file within 2 seconds.
Even if you could get a true 56K speed (which does not exist) for dial-up, each 4MB file would take you 10 minutes to download.
Most 56K modems are limited to around 40-50K at their fastest.
Your times for the 11 songs seems about right.
    -- 11 songs @ an average of 3 minutes in length & 1MB/min = 33 MB total to download
    -- 33MB @ 56K = 1h23m
    -- 33MB @ 34K = 2h17m
You are probably getting between 30K and 42K of real download speed from the modem.

  • Ipod takes tooo long to sync

my ipod touch 5 gen is taking so long to sync, it usualy goes really fast, but now its just stuck on step 8out of 8 ' waiting for changes to apply'. i deleted and reinstalled itunes but nothing. my laptop charger is also broken, so the battery ran out before it could finish syncing, so i have to get a new charger to see how long it actualy takes... any suggestions?

sadly it didnt help, i got my new laptop charger, and its been like 2 hours syncing now BUT after like 30 min the it started going through all my songs on the progress bar, which it DIDNT do before but it was after a half hour, and i didnt wait that long the previous times. but now its stuck on step 8 of 8 waiting to COPY ITEMS, and above that it says copying artwork ( im asuming album covers). i went through my ipod tho and a bunch of songs that stopped working are back playing, and my videos are back on. its still, this sync time is rdicuous

  • Quicktime conversion taking too long

this is my first time using final cut pro.
for my class, i've created a video that is 7 minutes long using mpeg-4 clips with AAC audio. they're pretty small clips, 320X240, and fully rendered.
we're supposed to present our projects next week to the class and so today i tried exporting the video i created using Quicktime conversion, but the status bar told me it would take 40 minutes to fully convert, and it only kept going up from there.
what am i doing wrong? under movie settings window that pops up, i clicked on default settings, but changed compression to h.264 (cus everywhere i've read has said it's faster), changed the dimensions to match 320X340, and changed the audio format to AAC with a 128 bit rate.
is this correct? i know i probably shouldn't have used mpeg-4 files to edit, but i hadn't known that until i read it here, today. i've also read that since i'm using mpeg-4 files, i shouldn't have tried exporting it as a h.264 file. is that true? could that have been the reason why the conversion was taking so long?
your help/advice is very much appreciated.

let's put it this way. if you do File>Export>Quicktime you'll make a quicktime file with the same compressor as your sequence and it'll render faster. If you select File>Export>Quicktime Conversion you can make a quicktime file with a compression of your choice. (although the conversion process takes time). so you could compress it into a DVCPRO 50 quicktime, or an uncompressed quickime or H.264 quicktime. any of these settings will play in quicktime. These you can select through the options button in the converter window. we just suggest you use Export>Quicktime because it's faster easier and it's useless in your situation to convert.

  • AirPlay Screen Mirroring (Mavericks) disconnects frequently with "Feedback taking too long to send" message

My company has several TVs with AppleTVs (3rd generation units) connected in our conference rooms so we can "Screen Mirror" our Mac laptops via AirPlay during meetings. Many employees have complained that AirPlay Screen Mirroring drops frequently during meetings for no apparent reason.
In attempts to determine the cause of the issue, I removed the AppleTV units from Wi-Fi and hard-wired them all to the LAN (100Mbps/Full duplex, no switchport errors seen on the Cisco switch). I upgraded the AppleTVs to the latest firmware. I had our AppleTV users ensure they were running MacOS Mavericks with the latest software updates installed. I had the Mac laptops hard-wired into the LAN during meetings in the conference rooms. None of these changes resolved the AirPlay issue.
I reviewed the MacOS "/var/log/system.log" file from the laptops of several users that reported issues. I found a pattern that seemed to indicate that the "coreaudiod" process reported "Feedback taking too long to send" several times before the AppleTV connection was terminated. Also, from a network trace (using "tcpdump") taken during an unexpected AirPlay Screen Mirroring disconnection, I could see that the Mac laptop sent a TCP FIN packet to the AppleTV unit (this would indicate that the MacOS laptop initiated the closing of the AirPlay connection).
I have included the relevant log file entries below. Please note that the LAN internal to our company is "solid" and there have been no connectivity issues detected or reported during the times the AirPlay sessions were disconnected.
I believe I have found a workaround to this issue. By going into "System Preferences", "Sound" and then changing the "Output" device BACK to the "Internal Speakers" (rather than the AirPlay destination), the AirPlay Screen Monitoring connection seems to remain stable.
    My questions are:
    - is anyone else experiencing this type of problem? any other solutions recommended?
    - is there a way to change the AirPlay defaults so that Screen Mirroring only sends the video (not audio)?
    - does anyone know what the log file entries indicate (like, what does "Feedback taking too long to send...." mean)?
    - any fix planned for this issue?

I'm currently still experiencing this as well. I've confirmed it occurs on 10.9.1, 10.9.2, and 10.9.3 on MacBook Pro Retina's, Mid-2012 and 2013 MacBooks. It happens on multiple ATV's not just one, all are updated to 6.1.1 and a simple reboot seems to fix it temporarily but it does come back. All the ATV's are connecting to the network via Wireless not Ethernet. These are 3rd Gen ATV's but I checked the serial number and these do not match the bad batch of Apple TV's from 2013 that were offered up for Replacement for Apple due to the bad firmware update. None of the computers have the Firewall turned on. Here's the two logs that we always find after the issue occurs (logs are recent, happened this morning):
    5/30/14 8:57:36.017 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.016946 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback taking too long to send (30 seconds, 17 total)
    5/30/14 8:57:36.332 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.331492 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback failed: -6723/0xFFFFE5BD kCanceledErr
The user will get disconnected from Airplay anywhere between 30 seconds to 3 minutes after logging on and can reconnect but then once again get disconnected after the same time period. One interesting thing to note is that when the Feedback Taking Too Long to send error starts occuring and the countdown to disconnect start ticking down to 30, its solely referring to Audio not being sent over the network and Video is working just fine. If I try to play sound I get another log and the sound doesn't play through the speakers. After a reboot, sound works fine and the Feedback Error's do not show up. I've also tried switching to Internal Speakers (since it defaultly switches to Airplay Speakers) after connecting to Airplay and seeing the Feedback timer start in the Console Logs but even after that the log continues to saw its taking too long to send and disconnects in 30 seconds.
This issue has been ongoing for months, I've got a ticket logged as far back as January with this occuring but its infrequent enough that we've just restarted and moved on. I'd say its an issue that occurs to about 5%-10% of meetings but that's an entire meeting that doesn't have the ability to Airplay until someone comes down and reboots it.
I don't often post in this forum but its still an active issue with no resolution, proof that its occuring on other people's systems, and no firmware updates having been released to correct it. It'd be nice to know of any workarounds other than having to buy some lamp timers for each conference room just to get a functional ATV or putting up a sign that says hey if you get disconnected every 3 minutes, reboot the ATV. The whole reason we're using Apple products is for ease of use otherwise I'd put together a much cheaper solution myself. Any help or recommended troubleshooting steps would be fantastic at this point.

  • Camera Taking Extremely Long to Open

I have an 8GB iPhone (1st gen) and opening up the Camera app and waiting for it to "get ready" so I can take a pic now takes 15 SECONDS. 13 seconds for the "lens" to open and 2 or 3 more seconds for it to register anything on the screen. That may not seem like a long time, but it is when people are posing for a pic or you're trying to capture something spur of the moment.
I don't remember it taking that long to get ready in the past, and it might have been since the 2.0 update. In the past, it was just slow when it used to try to check email or something and delay the camera, but now it's every time.
I have 2,200 photos on the camera -- would that affect it?
    Any ideas or solutions?

    Hi
Sounds like file corruption is causing the slow down. Go to your Finder: HD>Users>Your User Account>Library> and move the following files to the trash:
Safari folder: Icon folder and History.plist
    Caches folder: Safari folder
Restart Safari. Any improvement? If not, try Safari from another User Account. If you require assistance with setting up a new User Account, follow this guidance from Apple.
You can ignore step 7 in the article. Also, on the system preference>Accounts panel, click on "log-in" options. There, select "fast user switching". This allows you to go back and forth between user accounts via an icon in your Menu Bar at the top of the computer screen.
Log-on to the new account and start Safari. If Safari is stable in the new account, then your problem is specific to your regular user account. Otherwise, similar response means a system-wide problem.
