My itunes Library is on an External Hard Drive, but my internal hard drive crashed, I have to re-install windows XP--What do I do to re-associate my Library on the external drive and not wipe my iphone when I synch?
My ITunes Library is on an external hard drive, however, the internal hard drive on my laptop crashed, requireing a complete re-format and re-installation of Windows XP--When I re-install Itunes, what do I need to do to make sure I do not lose all of the content on the two iphones I have, and to re-associate the library with Itunes ( i know how to change the path) but I am fearful that somehow the library link will be broken since the old Itunes installation is gone, and who knows what else might go awry.
any help or advice is welcome.

What option has the faster GB/s?Disk drive using native SATA bus interface will allow the drive to copy and always present and ready.
But once you have backup any hourly changes should be smaller and as long as the NAS and your switch should allow enough.
You should always have off line backups and don't rely on just one backup set or just TimeMachine.

To delete files from your external HDD, attach it to your MBP and drag the unwanted files to trash and then empty trash.
Then you select the files that you want to transfer by 'drag and drop' to the external HDD and trash the files on your MBP.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it. -
How can I restore my data from iCal? I didn't make any backup, but I use time machine with an external HD. I deleted iCal when I deleted my gmail account. I have tried to restore, but I can only restore the iCal software and not the data.

If you forgot your encryption password:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

Search for shared library is impossible, as far as I know. Searches supported - are local and internet.

When I add a song to my iphone, why does the song JUST go to the song section and not the artist?
It never did this before but I added a song onto my iPhone and it's been on there for awhile, but I guess recently when I plugged in my iphone to my laptop and synced, the song was removed. When I readded the song, it went to the "Songs" portion and not the Artist as well. I mean the song is on my iPhone and that's good, but it's a hassle when I want to listen to it and I have to scroll through my library just to find it. Help?
You have to have Automatic Download enabled.
On the iPhone go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Enable Automatic Downloads for Music, Apps, and iBooks, also you can make the choice if it should download over cellular data.
iTunes: Edit> Prefrences > Store > Enable Automatic Downloads.

It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? Yesterday, I have downloaded the APPSGONEFREE and there is one App called the Victorian Mystery that is still free and i downloaded it. After a few minutes it pop up on my iphone homescreen, it can't be loaded. So I tried to delete it but it cant be deleted. (there is no x mark on top of it). I then use my itunes to synchronize it through my iphone but it wasnt able to delete it. I then bought the apps at apsstore ( Victorian Mystery), which is not free for today and I synchronize and it cant be installed on my Iphone. I just cant delete the APP. I need help. -
My iPhone 4 with iOS 5, is stuck in the Facebook app and not able to do any operation.. Im not even able to go to Home. I connected to iTunes in my PC, it was not able to sync. I tried calling my number from other phone, but it went to voice mail.
Hold the Lock & Home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until the phone restarts and you see the Apple logo. You will not lose any data.

How to I delete all contact on my iPhone at once? These are contacts ABOVE the contact folder that says, "From My Mac."

Another person said, "Reset information in settings to restore to the default." That would erase ALL of the conetent I have on the phone and I do not want to erase all of the other settings and content from my iPhone -- just the contacts.
There has to be a better way than gong through and deleting one-by-one.Go into Settings...Mail, Calendar and Contacts and siwtch off the Contacts section from the account in question.
The phone should ask you if you want to keep or erase the contacts stored on you phone.
However, if they aren't synched to anything and only exist on your iPhone, you'll have to delete them all one by one
