Last summer (2012) I bought a macbook, which seems to access the seagate server hard drive fine for word docs, excel spreadsheets,etc. It also seems to have started its own library which is not complete. My PC died this summer (I still have it though).
Now when syncing any of the multiple devices (ipods,ipads, iphones) that we have with my mac book, itunes states that "an error occurred" or the "app cannot be found". Itunes wants me to erase the device and sync with my macbook. The message "The iPhone “Renee’s iPhone” is synced with another iTunes library on “Renee PC”. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."appears.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

u can give try to using external enclosre and backup ur files. I hope u will get files back. or using external enclosre with ur hdd boot into Linux and try to mount ur harddisk.

Just transfer them from iTunes.
If they are not in iTunes. connect the iPod, then File > Devices > Transfer purchases.
Then connect the iPhone and sync these songs.

okay so , my ipod is about two years old and went through the washer and dryer. no one has used it for two years because no one ever took the time to fix it, until now when my previous ipod cracked and barley works now. So i took it upon my time to fix this washed ipod and i have been able to successfully restore it and , backup, and restore backup. i have also reset the network settings, and still my wifi is dimmed out and wont let me switch it on, i have read the apple websites resolution to this problem and i have tried it and they do not seem to work as my wifi is still DIMMED out. I would like to switch over to this one because my cracked one is hard to use, but in order for me to use this one it would be very nice to have wifi so i could download apps, and when i restored and reset the ipod to act like a new one, it wont even let me sign in to my apple id because i do not have Internet, now the funny part is my wifi is working fine for my 5 family members and their phones/android tablets, i am the only one who has an apple device. please right back!!! thanks!

When you're done picking, them leave preferences. Now, in the upper right-hand corner of your computer, next to the date, you'll see a little flag. Click on that. You'll see all the flags you picked. Basically, no. That is because your PS3 is a DLNA-compliant media player. In order to steam videos from the AirPort Disk you would need a DLNA media server. Unfortunately the Extreme is not one of these.

I recently bought a new laptop, as my old one was sadly stolen. I'm trying to connect to my backed up time capsule hard drive via ethernet to retrieve my files, but it doesn't seem to work. Oddly enough I have no issues over wifi. When I switch from wifi to ethernet, it gives me an error message stating that the disk was not found in the network. I have a MacBook Air with an ethernet adapter if that makes any difference. I'm also running the latest OS X and firmware. Wifi is simply too slow for this restoration process, so any suggestions?
Could I possibly connect via USB? What kind of cable would that require? Is the ethernet issue a problem with my settings?

Opinions sought: What is the optimal external hard drive setup for LP8?

I've got a MacBook Pro with only 10GB left on the HD after installation. I'm going to grab a nice big external Lacie 750 GB 7200RPM HD (via FireWire 800) solely for use with the Logic Studio suite. I have a few questions about optimal setup.
Option A: I leave the Logic programs on my MacBook Pro, and use the Lacie to record to.
Option B: I delete the Logic stuff from my MBP, and re-install all programs and content on the Lacie.
Option C: I install Mac OSX on the Lacie (making it bootable, I presume), circumvent my MacBook Pro's internal HD altogether, and run Logic from that.
Anybody? I'm particularly interested in hearing about what the issues are concerning latency and such.

Just to clarify... I meant to say what Rohan suggested, i.e., apps on system drive, not on the Lacie.
Now, what's "content"? Well, it can be a lot of things...
• projects (including .bak song files)
• audio files
• sampler instruments and their samples (EXS)
• non-EXS sampler instruments and their samples
• apple loops
Three scenarios I'd suggest:
*OPTION 1*
Use your external drive for recording audio only. Store everything else on your system drive (sampler instruments/samples/apple loops, etc.). Also save your projects to your system drive. In this scenario your record path for audio would be your LaCie (create an audio folder specifically for each project). When you do routines saves of a project, leave the audio on the LaCie. Don't "move" them.
Thing is, you want to keep a certain amount of your HD space free and clear (I think the going figure is 20%) and this is for system use. It's important. But as you add more sample libraries as well as projects, you'll start to eat up your system HD space. But at least your audio recordings will be contained on a separate drive and not impinge on your HD space, keeping as much of it as free and clear as possible.
Anyway, if you go with this scenario, when you want to archive a project to another external HD or DVDs, you have a few choices:
a) do a re-save of the project to a new folder so that you've consolidated all of the material into one place, or...
b) do a re-save of the project to a new folder, include all sampler instruments & samples and everything else except audio; keep the audio in its own folder (just as it exists on the LaCie) and copy that to your archiving medium separately.
There are probably other strategies as well, but those are just two suggestions...
*OPTION 2*
Have TWO external drives: one for audio recording only, and another one for all other "content" (apple loops, samples, maybe even EXS sampler instruments, depending on how big your EXS library is). Store your projects on your system HD. With this scenario you keep your system HD very clear for system use.
I guess the main gist of the above two suggestions is that you dedicate your audio drive for audio. The less extraneous stuff on your audio drive, the higher your track count will be.
OPTION3
Same as above, having two external drives, but saving your projects to the second drive (not the audio drive). If your songs typically don't contain a ton of audio tracks, this should work fine.
Finally, a word about LaCie drives... I have three of them and have never had a problem. However, people who have reported problems with them are often quite vociferous in advising others to avoid them (and who could blame them?). So, just some perspective for ya.

My Live Type crapped out about two years ago?

I think I may have erased vital script folders? or other preference pane folders contained in the Application Support files. I have also re-uploaded the software earlier this year. That didn't work either. Note: When Live Type is opened, it appears that the 'stock media' located in the Effects menu suite has been detatched or is offline. At any rate, the effects capabilities has been compromised. Does anyone, or has anyone...experienced this? I really like the program, yet I have pretty much given up on getting the Application to work again. Any help would be apreeshed.

Go to Hard Drive/Library/Receipts in the Finder.
Delete all instances of LiveType.pkg files (there should be about 4).
Reinstall LiveType and its media from the original disks as previously suggested by David, above.

Accessing the time capsule hard drive in bridge mode

I've heard that the Time Capsule doesn't "play well with others" but is there any way to map the drive or otherwise access it in a shared wireless network when I"m using the TC in a shared wireless network? I have the two drives connected via the Ethernet so that shouldn't be a problem and the bridge protocol seems to be working just fine. The other wireless router is a NetGear 600 with an egocentric problem (i.e. it thinks that it is the center of the universe).

You can map any network drive in windows.. the issue is more does it stay there.
Do you have the airport utility for windows installed?? That is well worthwhile. Not necessary but helpful.
eg I have recently upgraded my wife's desktop and laptop.. she is a Mac hater so windows for her. Win8 on the desktop .. I loaded the airport utility into it and it works very well with the TC.
The laptop is 8.1 and only just purchased. I wanted to see how well it works without airport utility.. and yes it works fine.. manually type into explorer the URL to the TC.
\\TCname (of course using SMB compatible names.. NOT APPLE NAMES.. short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
That also works fine. The PC with airport utility is just a bit easier.

What is the best external hard drive setup for pictures and videos?

I have a FireWire 800 port & I'm looking to back up my pix and vids. I've read reviews of alot of different ones. I don't want a time capsule because all the reviews are negative. These are pix & vids that I do not want to lose so how can I safeguard them?

Is it possible to check the serial number of an ipod shuffle I bought about two years ago?

A friend of my daughter's took her iPod shuffle. My daughter saw it at her friends house and asked her about it and the friend quickly snatched it back and said I had given it to her. I never did. I asked her mum about it via text and said there must have been some confusion (i.e. a nice way of saying her daughter was lying) and she never responded to me despite reasking her.
My daughter was recently at the same friends house and saw the ipod again and took it back to check if it is hers. So I am wondering if Apple would have any record of the serial number when I first synced it with my computer so I can check with the serial number on the iPod shuffle.
It is a lilac iPod and has been renamed with the name of the friends' father. It makes me so cross as if this is my daughter's iPod the parents are involved in the whole deception as they have renamed it from my daughter's name. It seems very odd that the father would buy himself a lilac iPod that is the exact same colour, size and storage capacity as my daughter's.
I would really apprecaite any advice you could give to assit us with checking. Thank you very much.
