My iTunes won't since certain songs to my iphone due to "errors."  This has happened to several of my songs.  How do I fix this?

I have tried deleting the "error" songs and this works fine...until it finds another song with an error.  What keeps causing my songs to be corrupted and how do I "fix" or "restore" them."
Thanks!

Can't believe I didn't think of that! Thank you! It actually worked.

  • So annoyed. iTunes won't authorize CERTAIN songs after upgrading computer.

Ok, so I recently upgrading my computer from a Macbook OS X to a Macbook Pro and now it seems that I can't authorize certain songs, I have two accounts: my current account, and my old account, which is the one that I can't authorize. I've tried everything from re-downloading iTunes, to deleting the SC folder, but to no avail.
The thing that really annoys me, is that when it asks me to authorize the song, it tells me "this computer is already authorized" Ok, good, it's authorized, but then I go to play the song again, it tells me again that my computer isn't authorized! It's like a vicious cycle that never ceases to annoy me. So in short, my computer lets me play some songs from my old itunes account, but won't let me authorize others. Help, please, is there anything I'm missing or doing wrong?

  • Red square with circle, grey exclamation point AND iTunes won't sinc new songs?

I have just upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 7.0.3 and for some reason my music on my phone will not play. Every song comes up with a red square with a red circle around it and simply will not play. Looking on iTunes now - every time I try to play a song a grey exclamation point with a grey circle pops up next to the song and again WILL NOT PLAY!
I've heard that it iTunes might be having trouble finding the source of the song (which its never had trouble doing before) so I deleted one song and tried to replace it back on there only to find that it is now not sincing new songs either! This new song is very light grey in colour and has the spotted circle next to it.
I don't even know where to start fixing these problems.
    Additional Information:
I have my phone set up to Sinc only checked songs and videos.
I drag and drop my songs into the 'On this iPhone' heading rather than sicing the whole thing as I share this computer with my brother.
Am I going to have to downgrade my iOS back to what it was?
I really hope someone out there can help!

[[UPDATE]] SOLVED - I've restarted both my computer and my phone and tried to re-drop in that one song that was coming up light grey. It's now sinced and playing on Itunes and is the ONLY song on my phone. No more exclamation mark or red square.
Looks like I'm going to have to delete all the songs and replace them into my itunes.
    *sigh*
Thank you Apple for this smooth, easy going update. Much appreciated.

  • Mystery of why itunes won't play certain songs - quicktime plays them fine

    symptoms:
most of my songs play normally.
the songs that don't play do show up normally in itunes playlist. when i try to play them, however, itunes skips over them immediately and moves on to the next file in the playlist.
this is not a standard "file not found"-type of error. no error message appears. the songs do NOT get a little grey exclamation on them afterwards.
after being skipped, the last played date and play count of the song file is updated in my library as though itunes thinks it played the song normally.
if right-click on the song in itunes and say "show sound file", the file is visible in the finder. if i view a preview in the finder, i CAN PLAY THE FILE FROM THE FINDER PREVIEW window, which makes this whole situation very odd.
i can also open the files and play them in quicktime player.app. they play fine.
the songs in question seem to be mostly old (~5 yrs) files that were encoded in a very old version of itunes (before it was called itunes) called soundjam. still i am pretty sure they are valid mp3 files. i'm quite sure that i have played them with itunes in the past, though i am not sure how long it has been since i last played them - perhaps a few years.
somehow it appears that the standard quicktime player for mp3 files is perfectly happy with this files, yet there is something about them that itunes does not like.
the files have relatively low bitrates (they are digitized versions of old cassette tapes). at least some of them (perhaps all) show in itunes as being encoded with SoundJam 2.6.2, and having variable bit rate.
i am using the latest version of itunes on mac os 10.4.6.
    any suggestions?

so i think you understand that i was upset to find out that they had become unplayable/unconvertable in itunes.
Yes, I do understand. I have a few recordings of family members who died a few decades ago. They're still on tape and I want to digitize them before the magnetic particles "all point to the magnetic poles again".
I'm still in doubt in which format to store them however.
I digitized most of my old vinyl to AIFF and then converted them to Apple Lossless to save HD space.
The costs of large capacity disks have decreased over the years, so I'm thinking to leave the digitized recordings in AIFF format.
This format looks to last for at least a few decades (I hope).
I remember when old data on some type of punchcards (is this correct English?) had to be converted to go in the computer age.
The machines to read them already had been demolished, so they had to build a new one :/

  • ITunes won't transfer certain songs from iPhone

I recently got a new desktop computer and downloaded iTunes. I synced my iPhone all up and then realized only about 600/800 of my songs were actually imported to my iTunes library before I checked "Sync Music" on my iPhone through iTunes. So I manually selected "Transfer purchases" but all it did was download all the iTunes-purchased songs, rather than all of my songs from my iPhone to iTunes library. I realized that most (if not all) of the songs that hadn't been transferred to my iTunes were externally purchased items (songs from CDs or direct files from my computer). I can't find any posts or articles on how to fix this, but there must be a way to accomplish this. It really shouldn't be necessary to re-download and import 200+ songs into my library from CDs and files (which would involve finding out and going through each and every song that hadn't transferred to iTunes from my phone) when they should already be there. If I check sync music, that means iTunes will erase all the songs on my phone and replace them with the ones in the iTunes library (which I also hate). iTunes should transfer all files when you sync your iPhone because that is the exact purpose of iTunes, not just manage Apple-bought items specifically. I really want to fix this ASAP so my phone can be synced up. Thanks.

  • ITunes won't play certain songs, says computer needs to be authorized

So I bought an album recently, and although the majority of the songs play through, there are two that iTunes consistently skips over. When I click those songs to play them, a window pops up saying that I need to authorize my computer. I have already authorized this computer, and when I type in my information it tells me this. However, when I attempt to play the songs again, the window pops up and the process repeats. Could someone tell me what's going on and how I can fix this? Thanks.

    Welcome to AD!
Check out this webpage about the problem - the MP3 headers may have gotten corrupted
    http://trevinchow.com/blog/2008/09/17/fix-for-mp3-songs-not-playing-in-itunes/
If they have gotten corrupted, you might want to look into running a chkdsk. Corrupted files can be a sign of a hard drive going bad.
Or, power problems - is your PC always plugged into a surge protected outlet?
Does it always get shut down gracefully, not just using a power switch off?

  • My computer says that all my music files are iTunes compatible but iTunes won't play the songs; how do i get them to sync?

I formerly used Zune, which i find much more user friendly than iTunes. I bought most of my music through that program, but have since tried to import the files to iTunes so i can put them on my iPhone. All of the files have the iTunes icon & under properties say that the program that will automatically play it is iTunes, but when i click play iTunes opens up but nothing plays. They play just find on Zune & Windows Media Player so i know the track are fine. Why won't iTunes play them? i'm honestly so frustrated.

If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library

  • Ipod won't sync certain songs after update to 5.1.1

I updated my ipod touch to version 5.1.1.  This included the addition of icloud to my system.  Since I have updated it, my ipod won't add certain songs from my itunes.  It's really weird how it just randomly selected songs to download.  I have songs in itunes that I purchased, as well as songs I imported from CD's.  Every song shows up on my ipod song list, however most are "gray" and won't allow me to select them to play.  (like they are not downloaded or something).  I have retored my ipod three times to see if that will allow all the songs to play on my ipod and it won't work.  Everytime I try to sync my ipod the fist song that tries to sync says "The file wasn't synced to the ipod because it cannot be read or written"......I have tried removing multiple songs and still get this message for every song. I did figure out that you can open the itunes store through the ipod and select "purchased".  You can then view songs that "aren't on the ipod" and manually download each individual song to the ipod, however, not only is this a pain in the *** and going to take forever since I have 1000+ songs and tv shows, but this still won't get all my own music added from CD's to my ipod. HELP! Any tips or solutions!! ( Also, I am a Mac user if that makes a difference)

After over TWO HOURS on the phone with apple support I still had no solution.  There were several songs that would freeze up my itunes, then I got the message "blah blah song" couldn't be transfered to the ipod because the file was unable to be read or written.  The tech and I came up with the solution to just delete every song that came up on. In the end, I had to individually add EVERY SINGLE SONG to my ipod one at a time.  If an error popped up I just deleted that song and made a note of it.  I had no issues with the songs I imported from CD's, only the songs purchased off itunes.  The tech never could figure out why.  We rebooted, wiped clean, reset, anything...you name it we tried.  We even moved everything to another computer to see if it was a computer issue, then we wiped my husband's ipod touch to see if it was a hardware issue on my ipod. NOTHING. This finally worked even though it took all day.  Everything seems okay now, we will see the next time I add songs.  I did lose ALL my photos and videos taken with the ipod. :/ That really ***** because I have a 1 year old who's entire first year was on that stupid thing.  What a waste of a day.

  • ITunes won't import a song

I had some songs stored in a folder in the My Music folder. When I added the folder to iTunes using the (rather obvious) "Add Folder to iTunes" command under the File menu it added all the songs in the folder except for one. I've tried over and over to get iTunes to import this song into my library but it won't work, and the last thing I'm going to do is use Windows Media Player to play one song because iTunes won't. The song is an MP3 file and its bit rate is 256KBps. I don't know if those last two bits will help but it can't hurt to include them.

Is there any possibility that this song is copy-protected? Did you import it yourself from a CD or did you buy it from an online source? If DRM is on the song--you'll have to burn it to an audio CD and import it that way.

  • I added some songs to my itunes but now my itunes won't play the songs - it says it can't locate the song although the Itunes match is turned on and it says all of my songs are in the cloud - anyone have any thoughts

i added some songs to my itunes but now my itunes won't play the songs - it says it can't locate the song although the Itunes match is turned on and it says all of my songs are in the cloud - anyone have any thoughts

Did you delete the hard copy of the songs from your computer after you uploaded them?
If so just highlight the said songs and delete but do not check the box that says delete from iCloud and your songs should play fine.
This happens when the original file is moved from the location that itunes was looking for it at and if you did this because you uploaded it then it will still be in the cloud you just need itunes to read from cloud and not think it's supposed to be finding the original file

  • ITunes won't load the songs from purchased music CDs

When loading purchased music CDs, the CD loads but iTunes won't load the songs.  Error message:  "The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for the file."  I'm using an iMac PPC G4 with 768 MB RAM and OS 10.4.11 with iTunes 4.7.1. If I copy the songs into a folder I can push them into the iTunes library but these are huge AIFF files with no info and the machine can't (won't) transfer them into AAC files.

To what format are you trying to convert? What settings are you using?  Has this just started or is this the first time trying this?  I really don't know what the limitations are for iTunes 4.7.  I thought I was being a luddite in sticking with 7.5....
Try an alternative ripper such as XLD or Max.

wait until you reach the limit of five authorized machines. then, once a year, you will be able to deauthorize all machines, following which you can reauthorize those computers you currently use/have access to.

how to update Ipad 2 from IOS 4.3.5 to IOS 5? Itunes won't let me do it because it keeps showing error messages asking me to check if my network is active.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.1.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 7.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • Windows 8 itunes won't let me add anything to iphone

windows 8 itunes won't let me add anything to iphone..apple community doesn't list the iphone as a product registered under my apple id, but the phone is listed on my authorized devices.  any ideas? and do i need to get it to show as a registered product?

I have the same problem. I can't sync any apps or music on my iphone. I can't sync any music purchased through itunes on my ipod. I haven't even tried connecting my ipad for fear that it'll mess that up as well. I try to authorize my macbook but I get an error. The weird thing is that I am able to still play all of my purchased music through itunes so it seems that the authorization is at least somehow partially recognized.
