My Java  apps aren't working on mac.

Hi all,
My problem is that I cannot get .jar files I make to run on a Mac machine. I've built a calculator and text editor and neither of them work on mac (the .jar files). They work perfectly ok on linux and windows but I'd really like my applications to be cross-platform. On the mac I've updated to the latest version of java and everything but it gives the error message (in the event of attempting to launch my textEditor.jar app on the mac): "Unable to launch textEditor.jar. Check the console for possible error messages"....
I check the console and to me nothing seems unusual.
Help is highly appreciated,

I believe than one can launch a console (or terminal) window.
Perhaps if you try to run from a command line you might get some error messagesActually just to confuse things even more, there is a separate console.app (not terminal.app) that can be used to view all the log/error files for the OS. That's what the error message is referring to (System.err will have been redirected to the console.app), you can find console.app in the Utilities directory under the Applications directory in a default installation.

After installing "Java for OS X 2013-004" update, Java apps don't work anymore as expected.
Windows of Swing apps don't display all GUI elements.
After replacing System/Library/Java from a Time MAchine Backup, everything works normal again.
    Is this update corrupted?

"avoid using Java in a web browser at all,..."
    Good advice.
"...old Java apps/applets that aren't written to modern specs ..."
The stand-alone Java Swing applications, that don't display their GUI elements after installing this update, have been written according to modern standards. With Oracle Java7, and with Java6 from Apple prior to this update, they run absolutely flawlessly.
    This is absolutely Apple's fault.

My apps aren't working on my ipod touch after I downloaded the most recent version. How do i get my apps working again?

    - Try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Download/install a new app
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory daults/new iPod.

I've had my iPhone 4 for about 4 months now, and suddenly some apps aren't working. They open and appear to work, but as soon as you try to do something it doesn't load. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. I also force shut down my phone. I synced it to iTunes. Nothing is working. Does anyone know what I can do?

Basic troubleshooting steps oultlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
You need to go through all steps in succession until your problem is solved.  If going through ALL these steps fails to resolve your issue, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • My java app will not install on mac.

Ok guys, I am planning on getting a new mac soon, but my java app that I use alot will not run on the mac. It comes with an install.sh that does not work. Any idea on how to convert the .bat installer into some shell script? I have uploaded the java app at the link below

    The install.bat code is:

    java -classpath ./;./jars/tools.jar;./jars/nexus.jar impsoft.nexus.installer.Install
    pause
I need to somehow have some shell script to do that.
This is just an installer, so you only need to run it once. Run Terminal.app, "cd" to that fodler, and type:
    java -classpath ./;./jars/tools.jar;./jars/nexus.jar impsoft.nexus.installer.Install

Also have this problem.    We also used to point our java app shortcuts to the system32 or syswow64, but with Java 8 this is no longer an option.  Updating shortcuts every time there is a new java version is unrealistic.  Similar to Jeff, the symlinks in the ProgramData folder don't seem to work.

  • App store isnt working on mac!

it disappeared then i found it in the trash and when i dragged it out, the icon isnt there anymore and when i click to open it it says "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete." what should i do????

Open  > About this Mac, and tell us what Mac OS X version you have. You have the OS X Combo update you have to install depending on your OS X version below:
    - 10.6.6, 10.6.7, 10.6.8 > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1399
    - 10.7, 10.7.1, 10.7.2, 10.7.3, 10.7.4, 10.7.5 > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1582
    - 10.8, 10.8.1, 10.8.2, 10.8.3 > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1640
If that doesn't work, reinstall OS X. If you have OS X 10.6.6, 10.6.7 or 10.6.8, insert the OS X disc, hold the C key while your computer is starting and reinstall Mac OS X. After reinstalling Snow Leopard, open  > Software Update.
If you have OS X 10.7 or OS X 10.8, hold Command and R keys while your iMac is starting and reinstall Lion or Mountain Lion

  • Audio interface console (app) won't work on Mac Pro

    Hello there!
I just bought a new Mac Pro and did a clean install of all my apps. Everything seems to be working fine except one thing: my audio interface's console.
I'm using an Audiofire 4 interface, which has little physical controls on it. I've been using its console software on my iMac and on my MacBook Pro to control it. Last night I installed the software from the CD on the Mac Pro and it won't work!
I launch the application from my home folder on my boot disk (SSD). I also tried installing it on the data HDD and still no luck: when I try to launch it it closes immediately. All my macs are on the same version of SN so that shouldn't be the problem.
Anyone has a few ideas? I use my computer a lot for music so this has to work or I may have to return to the iMac...
    Thanks in advance!

Update: this morning I installed the Audiofire Console successfully on my Windows partition (on another hard drive). I then came back to OSX (on my SSD) and this time the app, instead of immediately opening and closing, beachballed the whole system. The console gave me this:

  • App store not working on mac osx 10.9

my mac pro is running on osx 10.9. it has app store version is 1.3.  Am not getting updates on app store. it simply showing loading animation & stops it. what to do with this?

Quit Appstore by clicking on App Store from the top Menu Bar and then Quit. Click any where on your Desktop and you should see Finder next to the Apple Logo on the Top Menu Bar, From the Menu Bar click on Go and select the option Go To Folder and Write or Copy the following in the box that appears, without brackets ( ~/Library/Preferences/ ). Look for the File Named "com.apple.storeagent.plist" and "com.apple.appstore.plist" and drag them on the Desktop and try to open App Store and see if it works.

  • TS1398 my icon/apps aren't working

Wondering if I may have locked my icon/apps on my iPad. I can access internet through safari, but not through the downloaded icons.  If I did lock them, how do I 'unlock' them? Please help.
this happened after I plugged my iPad into my computer andiTunes downloaded.

You can't lock apps on the iPad. What exactly are you experiencing? What downloaded icons?
You can get online with Safari but cannot get or send email for instance? Are your non internet reliant apps working?
If your third party apps will not open, try downloading another app - any free app is fine. See if that helps.

  • TS3595 Can't view my app updates and many apps aren't working anymore after installing iOS7

Anyone a suggestion how tonsolve this?

    HI,
Maybe try it this way this is what I did with mine because I did not migrate and didn't know about that either.
Photos application for Mac Instructions that might help!
On your iPad,iPhone keep the iCloud on in settings for Photos.
if you have not opened the New Photos application yet to have it transfer your photos from iPhoto let it Transfer the Pictures.
once you have all the pictures from iPhoto to Photos then in Photos go to Preferences
there is general and iCloud tab and go to the iCloud and only uncheck the iCloud button that will make it so it doesn't sync with your iPhone and iPad for Photos.
Then in Photos go up to View and press show sidebar because with that view you can move your pictures easier to albums snd delete or move any pictures or make new albums
For Duplicates if you have a big pile in a row and I mean not like every other picture of the same pictures on the keyboard Hold down the shift button. or the other way is to Hold down the Command buttom that is right by the space bar then on the trackpad or mouse click once on the picture you want to delete and do a bunch at a time then on the last picture of that pile either right click the picture and delete or go up to the edit button which is next to file on the top left and click delete in edit.
when you are all done with moving around your pictures or whatever go back to Preferences and turn on iCloud and make sure you have the optimize Mac Storage and then you are done! I hope this makes sense and works for you! here are the 2 pictures I'm talking about in settings.
