My keyboard layout has changed. I no longer have an @ key.
About an hour ago, my keyboard layout changed (but only when using firefox) so that, for example, Shift+2 no longer produces @, but rather double quotes ("). Also, pressing the [ key now produces nothing, but the next key I hit after it will produce a hat. Example, the [ key and a g will give ^g. There are other peculiarities, such as the / key now shows é, and a few others.
Everything I check on the internet seems to be telling me the problem lies in my keyboard layout settings in Windows, and possibly having to press LeftAlt+LeftShift (or just Alt+Shift) to readjust them, or bringing up the language bar, etc. But all of my efforts to fix language indicate to me that I'm currently operating with a US keyboard layout (which is what it`s supposed to be), and again, this ONLY happens in firefox and no other programs.

It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident.
* Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar.
* You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar.
* Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar.
* You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application.
* The default keys to rotate the layout is a combination (Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift) that can easily be used in Firefox to activate a menu item.
* To avoid an unintentional switch assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctr+Shift)

I was cleaning the keyboard but forgot to turn it off before doing so. Now i can't access my computer! I have two accounts. one for the children and one for myself! Keyboard Layout keeps changing to US
Hello everyone, I have a 13" MacBook Pro, and the keyboard layout keeps changing to U.S. I have a swiss german keyboard, and it's pretty infuriating to always have to change it back. What I don't get, is that when it changes to U.S., it removes Swiss german from the selection, so I have to go to system preferences to change it back.
is this a common problem with OS X 10.8.4?

Btw do you update the locale-gen as root? not as user with privileges.
I updated it as root. By the way, I have an Italian keyboard. I always used the en_US locale. I don't know why it sopped to work. -
My Safari Preferences/Security screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies. Rather, there is a new Preferences/Privacy screen that allows you to manipulate cookies, but it is not as easy to use as when cookies were on the security screen. Was this an update? Has this change affected anyone else? This is strange, because Safari Help still states cookies are manipulated on the Security screen, even though the screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies.
Presuming you're referring to Safari 5.1, yes, it's moved, but I don't see it as being harder. Now you can clear all privacy-related items - cookies, cache and history - with one button, the "Remove All Website Data" button. If you want to work with individual cookies, it's still just one button, the "Details" button. So no, I don't see it as being more difficult.

When Making a new play list, the play list was on the right of the screen and this allowed you to drag your music onto the playlist, my setup has changed to the left of the screen which does not allow you to drag your music across, how do I reset?
In the top corner of iTunes is a small icon with a down arrow, click on that and choose 'show menu bar'.
Then on the view menu which now appears choose 'show sidebar' -
I'm sure its something simple to change it back to the right layout, but for the life of me I can't figure it out, and he can't remember what it was he clicked on :(

The system of installing updates has changed, and no longer works
Updates used to happen by Firefox asking "There is an update for Firefox - do you wish to install it now or on restart?". I would check the restart option, and next time I launched Firefox it would tell me that an update was being installed.
Now I get a dialogue box saying an update is available, (Firefox 3.6.16), recommending I take it and offering me two buttons :
"ASK LATER"
"UPDATE FIREFOX"
If I choose the latter option, I get a window showing :

Downloading the update...
Connecting to the update server...
And that's all that happens until I quit Firefox, maybe hours later. I'm sorry, but the old method WORKED. This new method DOESN'T. It means I am now stuck with 3.6.13 as I cannot get an update. Please revert to the old way of doing it.Welcome to the Apple Community.
Changing the library the Apple TV is synced with will delete all synced content from the Apple TV, but it won't delete purchased content.
You should be able to change the library, resync any content you want and transfer your purchases back to the new library. -
Resetting to default font when keyboard layout is changed (OS X/MS Office)
In Office applications, when I am using other than default font and then switch the keyboards during typing (e.g. from English to Slovak), the font resets itself back to default. The same happens sometimes when I use the Undo function.
Is there any way to prevent this?

I am the original poster, and I got rid of CA Security Suite & and loaded the Avast! which has some great features even on the freeware. No more crashes or freezing & yes I think there is a problem with CA & Firefox, but am not sure what it is. CA was a big time hog. I also got rid of my ISP and installed a Intellinet Wireless G PCI Card & now am completely wireless on my PC. Faster by far than what I was paying $50/month for & I use my Windows Firewall.

Hi i did a major upgrade yesterday, having waited to do an upgrade for a few weeks because of wonky nvidia drivers i finally managed to Syu yesterday and upgraded 133 packages. Everything works fine it seems apart from one thing i noticed this morning, my keyboard layout has changed from the english GB one. any suggestions how i can change it?

but that didn't work. so i followed the archwiki link http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg#InputClasses from the news article you pasted. Seemed i needed to make a keyboard.conf file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d, which i did -
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Keyboard Defaults"
MatchIsKeyboard "yes"
Option "XkbLayout" "gb"
EndSection
A quick logout and login and now i have my gb layout. Sadly my keyboard model isn't in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst so i can't set
"Xkbmodel" and get all the functions from my keyboard. never mind. thanks again for the help loafer

Keyboard layout problem at the login screen

I'm having a huge problem at the login screen just after installing OS X Lion 10.7. It seems like the keyboard layout has changed, and I need to enter some numbers in my password. I can't find the digit 9, and I really don't know if the other numbers are in the right place either. Maybe it's changed to a us layout.. What to do?stoneheart,
the numbers are in the same position on a US English keyboard as they are on a Norwegian keyboard.
If you select the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences, and select its Login Options, do you have the “Show Input menu in login window” checkbox checked? (That’s where the checkbox’s location is in Mavericks; I don’t have Lion, so I don’t know if it’s in the same location there.) -
Is there a way to change the keyboard layout on locked screen iOS7?
I updated my ipad from ios6 to ios7. I noticed a really ridiculous thing after i updated my IPAD. The thing is after starting my device with ios7, i tried to enter my pass on the lock screen, but no way.
My old password consisted characters such as ¥ $# etc ... the keyboard layout is changed in ios7 and I couldn't see the "¥" sign anymore. I tried to restore it but I do need the lock pass.
Any ideas?Hi. I guess there will always be differences in text handling between apps like InDesign and Illustrator, which are fundermentally layout apps, and Photoshop that isn't. But I'd like to be clear about how you Photoshop set up? For instance, I prefer to set type size to mm in Photoshop and InDesign so I can better predict text sizing in a given document. For fine adjustment I do it by eye, so don't really care about what the units are.
If I have missunderstood your point (sorry about the non intended pun) please explain some more.
Incidentally, Nigel French has an excellent title on Lynda.com called 'Photoshop for Designers - Type Essentials'. It's probably the best source I know of for handling type in Photoshop.
