My laptop won't recognise my partner's airport

My partner and I just moved in together in an apartment. We got our internet set up and connected it using my partner's Airport, which was a preferred network on my laptop from being at his old place. I had never had any problems connecting to his wireless at his place via his Airport.
For some reason, at the new place, my laptop would not recognise his Airport - it wasn't in the list of wireless networks available. Even if I tried 'Join Other Network', typed in the name and the password, it still wouldn't find it. I had almost everybody's wireless network in our building except for the one in our apartment. Both our iPhones and my partner's Mac recognised it straight away with no problems. I decided to go home and get my own Airport and once I hooked that up instead, it worked straight away. Does anybody know why this would happen with one Airport specifically, especially considering I had used it previously with no problems?

Hm. How many other AirPort base stations are set up in the area? Perhaps there is a channel conflict and for some reason that's keeping you from connecting, even though everyone else is able to get on. That would be weird, but you never know!
If his laptop is newer than yours it may be using the 5 GHz band which would have different interference problems than the 2.4 GHz band that your computer may be using.

My laptop won't recognise my iPhone.

My laptop does not even realise that anything has been plugged, and neither does the iPhone give any indication that it has been plugged in (won't even charge)
I know it is not the wire, I have tested others.
I have even taken the phone into the apple store and it works fine with their macs. (I have a Sony Vaio, barely a year old!)I have looked through the support pages, and nothing seems to help.
I have updated iTunes, nothing changed.
And the driver doesn't seem to exist anywhere at all, so nothing I can really do there?
I've run out of ideas....

I finally figured this one out.
1) Click the start button.
2) Search "Device Manager" and open it.
3) Expand the tab "Universal Serial Bus Controllers"
4) There should be a driver there relating to your apple device, possibly with a yellow warning triangle beside. Right click on it and uninstall it. Plug your phone in now and it will install the drivers again, but it should recognize your phone now. Hope this helped.

My Laptop won't recognise my iPod to sync.

My laptop recognises my phone up until it says Welcome to windows then it cuts off.
My iPod is recognised all the time but my iPhone isn't.
It charges on a wall mains.
My anti virus is Avast? And the majority of 3rd party programmes got disabled.
I have reset the phone amongst everything else.
Anyone have any ideas?

Disable a/v software and turn off the Firewall on your PC.
Disable antivirus software
Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

Spilled Drink - Laptop won't recognise power adapter + screen backlight

Hi.
The other day, I had my 17" MacBookPro in a satchel bag, but made the foolish choice of leaving my Lucozade (Orange flavour if that helps!) in the bag.
Obviously, the Lucozade burst, submerging around two inches of the laptop, there part where the screen connects to the laptop, and submerging the power adapter port.
Now for around twenty four hours, the power adapter charged the laptop, but unfortunatly, the backlight on the screen suddenly didn't work, as in you could very faintly see it, but when you try to turn the display up, nothing happened.
Twenty four hours after the spill, the power adapter failed. I'm pretty certain it isn't the power adapter, which means the problems seems to lie with the power adapter port.
Now I opened up the laptop two days ago, (three days after the accident), and cleaned what ever Lucozade there was, and just in general cleaned up the insides of the MacBookPro (which is now around two-and-a-half years old.) Unfortunatly it didn't work.
So currently I have a MacBookPro with no battery power, and no screen backlight. So what i'm asking is for any advice at all!
Is it worth taking it to an independant laptop repair business? Would they be able to do much more than me?
Should I take it to a Mac shop? Would they know what to do?
Is there anything I can do myself?
Anyone else had a similar experience?!

I think the problem may be with the inverter board or cable. Do you have access to an external display? Maybe one you could borrow? If so, hook it up and see if you have good video on it. If you do, that would indicate that the video chip on the logic board is OK. And if you can get good video on the external, it would be a good opportunity to run the Apple Hardware Test.
One thing is that you really need to remove all traces of the Lucozade or you could have further issues on down the line. You could practice on the I/O board you removed. Flush it thoroughly with distilled or deionized water and dry it thoroughly (this could take weeks, maybe less if you have a warm dry place for drying). You could try cleaning any affected part this way, and it's possible--though not certain--that it could work again.

My laptop won't recognise my stratosphere

When I plug my stratosphere into the USB slot of my laptop, my computer doesn't 'see' it. I cannot transfer any files from the computer to the phone or vice versa.Does anyone have an idea of what the solution is?

When you connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable, it should automatically load the drivers so they can then 'see' each other and you can 'drag and drop' files. If the drivers don't load automatically, you should be able to download them from Samsung:

Windows laptop won't connect to internet using airport express connection

Hi. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I set up airport express on my imac g5 so I could share the internet with my windows laptop. I have a wireless notecard plugged into my laptop (802.11gg)--the laptop recognizes a wireless network with my imac no problem. I'm able to access the internet with my imac, but my laptop can't. I have a cable modem with the ethernet cable attached to airport express. I set up the wireless network using wep. Am I missing something? Please help! Thanks!

I had a similar issue this morning. My problem was my password. Apple will allow short passwords with wep encryption. Other manufacturer's don't.
"The multiplatform issue
Being an older protocol, WEP password treatment was not implemented uniformly by all wireless hardware and operating system manufacturers. Some products require users to enter relatively cryptic hexadecimal characters (four bits each), while others allow "plain language" password entry. A plain language password, like "apple", uses standard ASCII characters that are 8 bits each.
Products that allow plain language (ASCII) password entry may not force the network administrator to create 5- or 13-character passwords that would result in the required 40 (5*8) and 104 (13*8) bit-length passwords. Instead, they use a "hashing" routine to convert an odd-length password to the correct bit length. The multiplatform issue arises when the hashing results of products from two different manufacturers don't match each other. The resulting "network equivalent passwords," which are always given in hexadecimal format, are different."
In my case I made the password 13 characters long and everything works fine now.

HELP NEEDED! My wife's 5c won't recognise on my laptop anymore. I plug it in and the laptop makes a sound but won't show up the phone. I only recently discovered this problem when I upgraded. It will recognise my 5c and even the iPad but not her 5c

I discovered this problem when I upgraded my iPhone 4 to a 5c.
My laptop will recognise my 5c and even the wife's iPad but won't recognuse her 5c, when I plug it in it makes a sound but just doesn't show up in iTunes.
It DID work on my laptop as recently as November when I backed up her phone and updated her software but like I say ever since I upgraded it just won't recognise her 5c but does mine.
I just can't think what is wrong? I haven't messed around with anything on the laptop or messed around with the wife's settings on her 5c

My iPad won't recognise my air printer, it is connected as I checked by typing in IP address into Safari, but when I try to print it just says cannot find any air printers.

my Ipad won't recognise my printer. It is connected as I have typed the IP address into Safari which confirms connectivity. Spoken with canon who suggest it it is a problem with IOS not recognising the functionality. When I try to print it says cannot find any air printers. Printer is working via LAN set up on my laptop. Don't want to have to spend £25 to speak to an apple support team. Has anyone else experienced this problem. Printer is a canon MG 3250.

A few things you could try:
Reboot your modem/router.
Turn your printer off then on again & make sure it's connected to the network.
Reboot your iPad holding down the home & sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears then release & let the iPad boot up normally.
Try going into Settings on your iPad & select General->Reset->Reset Network Settings.

Itunes won't recognise Ipod touch 5G

So this is for my friend who has a 5G, but her Itunes won't recognise the ipod touch 5G, but windows can recognise it, Itunes says to reset the Ipod touch, and she has done this before, and now again it won't recognise it, so she has to reset it, and this is quite annoying her, as resetting takes a long time. my friend had a 4G before, and had no problems with this, she sold the 4G to get the 5G. She has a window 7 laptop. I've tried several ways but it hasn't solved it.
What can we do to solve it ?

Itunes won't recognise password

I'm trying to de-authorize an older computer but itunes won't recognise my password... I know I'm using the correct one because 1 - i just re-set it and 2 I'm using it right now on my laptop to log in and post this question...
The computer I'm trying to de-authorize is an old imac (the one with the movable screen) running osx 10.4.11...
Any suggestions?

Just dealt with this...I unplugged my ApTV and moved it to another television; this is why the trouble began. The date and time wouldn't update, so hitting menu didn't help and home sharing wouldn't recognize our password. Reset my password on iTunes -- everything else took it except for ApTV. We reset ApTV a few times, same issue...
We rebooted our router! BINGO!
Works perfectly again!

My computer won't recognise my iPod Classic, even in disk mode?

I have a 160GB 6th generation iPod classic and my itunes won't recognise it. When I plug it into my laptop the laptop makes the noise as to say it has a new device connected, but it won't show up in my windows explorer or in my itunes. I have googled it and seen that I can put it into disk mode to try and fix it but when I do that the screen says OK to disconnect, and doesn't change even when I plug it into my computer. The laptop still doesn't recognise it then. I have tried different leads and the computer makes the 'recognises new device' noise with both, but it still doesn't work. The ipod doesn't say it is connected, the charging icon doesn't even come up on the battery on the screen of the ipod but I have left it plugged in and it is charging. I think it's a problem with the iPod as even when I plug it into the plug socket to charge the same thing happens, with no response from the battery icon. The screen does however light up when it's plugged in so the iPod recognises that it is plugged into a charging source, but thats just the backlight coming on and nothing else and it won't let me sync it or anything.
I can't get to an apple store for over 3 weeks as I am home for Easter and there's none near me but any help would be appreciated!!
I have restarted it multiple times, it still doesn't work.

Bump, I have this exact problem.
iPod Classic, 160GB, running the latest OS
Charges, but doesn't display charging icon (no lightning bolt in the top right). Doesn't recognize that it is plugged into the computer, and the computer doesn't recognize it (MacBook Pro, again, latest OS).
I have reset it... twice. And I've put it in disc mode - same results.
It will charge off my computer, but it won't sync, and it hasn't for about a week, so my podcasts are all out of date
