My Mastercard debit card is being declined? why

My mastercard debit card is being declined as i type in the number of card. why? money is money.

Debit cards are no longer accepted in the iTunes Store, it seems. The current valid payment methods are listed here:

You can try contacting the iTunes Store and asking if there is any way to use your card, but they probably will tell you that it's not possible.

Using a debit card in any online service where it stores your card is a bad idea in any case since if someone gains access to your account in the service, they can quickly drain your bank account. Credit cards limit your liability, as do prepaid iTunes cards.

You should be able to. They area accepted at the U.S. Apple Store ...
There should be a telephone number you can call noted top right corner of the Apple Store window just left of Account.

if you are signed in to iTunes with your AppleID, click on the AppleID > view account > payment information > enter in your information

Login to the account on iTunes and under payment info, select none for the credit card. iTunes is supposed to use gift cards and store credit over credit cards but it doesn't.

There have been a number of posts recently about debit cards being declined, and they are not listed on this page as a valid payment method, so I don't think that they are still accepted.

Is the namd and address that your credit card is registered to exactly the same as you have on your iTunes account, and have you checked with your card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it ? You can try adding it to your account, but not all debit cards still seem to be accepted - you may get a 'declined' message when you try to add it, in which case you won't be able to use it

This is kinda strange. Here in the UK they are declined. However the local Apple Store told me they were OK - until I got him to try it. It was declined - so even some of Apple's own employees don't really know the rules.

Something that you will want to keep in mind if you use the solution the Texas Mac Man link for you. If you buy gift cards in the US they are only good in the US store. So if you have any balance left over you will not be able to use it back in your home country with your home country store.
You will still be able to use it in your US account but you cannot switch back and forth from one country store to another country store until you use the balance that is left on that gift card. Bottom line, if you set up an account and use a gift card, use it up all the way, or you will not be able to switch back to your own store when you get home. Using up a balance on a gift card is easier said than done.

I'm 16 and I work a summer job, recently I've run out of money on the card associated with my Apple ID. I did however receive an iTunes gift card for Christmas. I redeemed the card and went to make a purchase, this is where my problem begun. Apple attempted to use my CC instead of the iTunes Giftcard
, so it declined my card of course. Now I can't make any purchases or downloads/updates because it says there was an issue with my last purchase. So I am redirected to my info where I fill in my security code etc. on my card and then I hit done and get the message "your payment method was declined, please select another payment method". Under the section labeled "Payment Methods" it is completely empty. No gift cards or anything, so I can't select and other payment method, or even de-select my CC. I'm tired of this and it's angering me, I've searched for solutions and have tried them and nothing seems to work. Please help!

What store are you trying to purchase in? If its a U.S. card - you have to use it in the U.S. store.
Go to Settings>General>International>Region Format>United States. Then go to Settings>Store>Tap your Apple ID. Tap View Apple ID. Enter your password. Go to country/region and make sure that you are in the U.S. store in there.
