My microsoft word and excel programs won't work and files won't open.
After an automatic HP update, my Microsoft Word and Excel programs won't work and my files won't open. What caused this and what can I do to fix the problem without losing my files? I have files that are part of my work and I HAVE to have them ASAP. Please help.

Please find the steps to resolve your issue.
Open Installed Updates by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then, under Programs and Features, clicking View installed updates.
Click the update that you want to remove, and then click Uninstall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Or Try this step
If this does not resolve your issue then you can try a System restore to the date where unit was working fine steps provided below for you.
Start in search box type System Restore then click on it then select the Date where unit was working fine.

I should just change the OS and leave all your apps and data alone. That said, if any of your apps are old and use Rosetta (ppc apps), they won't run under Mountain Lion.
Make sure you take a good Time Machine or Clone backup before you convert.

Does 'versions' work with microsoft word, ppt and excel or just pages, keynote and numbers? I tried to do what the videos say but the little icon for versions is not there on word. Does this mean it only works for pages etc... or do i have to activate it somehow? If it is only for pages then this ***** and should be better advertised!!!
Each application will need to be updated to work with Versions, Full Screen, and other Lion-specific features.

It seems like the black cartridge could be running out of ink. Since most of what is commonly printed from MS word and excel might be black text, this is the first reason I can figure out why your printer is not printing only from these applications.
Check this document to see if your printer is performing good and to check if ink is coming out from all of the cartridges.

On its own it's fine, as a replacement for Office it's mediocre. Unable to save in Office format you are pushed into exporting (extra steps) simply to create an Office compatible file. This laptop has original Microsoft word & excel provided by Mac when purchased and is legal copy.
Do I understand you bought a Mac and it came with Microsoft Office? I could be wrong, but I wasn't aware that was an option. Or am I not parsing that sentence correctly and you bought a Mac and bought a legal copy of Office to install on it? In which case, never mind. -

Go throuh jakarta POI(hssf) to do..No! HSSF which stands for Horrible SpreadSheet Format can be used for Excel (spreadsheets as the name suggests). For Word, you would need to lok at HPSF.

u should go to the apple icon on menu bar and then go to "Force Quit" and then select the application u want to quit. if u did, microsoft word won't appear again when u open. make sure that before u shut down ur mac, u need to force quit to make sure the applications u opened wil not appear when u start mac. good luck..

I'm not sure if you have it in the command or not, but in the above command you posted there are quotations around the filename "test word document.docx" and quotes are not a valid filename character. -
Just upgraded from Safari to Maverick, but pop-up informed me that Microsoft Word or Excel will not run on OS X Mavericks. What's up with that? Should I click accept or ok?
I assume this is the latest Mav OS...so the version would be 10.9.2? I updated my iphone and when it came time for activation it won't work and keeps telling me to try again. At the top it says "No Service" and I have my SIM card in and a good WiFi connection and have connected it through iTunes but it says I have no SIM card and need to disconnect and insert my SIM. I don't understand why this keeps happening and it's been going on for a wile now. I have tried over and over again to get this iPhone to work but nothig is happening. I've even gone on the website for support (apple.com/support) but cannot find anything that will help me with this situation. Can someone please help me find a solution to this problem? I have been without a phone and do not have money to buy another one and it is crucial for me to get it fixed. Thanks.

What computer operating system is involved in the Premiere Elements 11 and 13 issues? Same computer or different ones? Are you installing from purchased download installation files or from purchased installation disc? Does Premiere Elements 11 work completely on this computer whereas 13 will not?
Let us go through the typical drill so as to take nothing for granted.
1. Does the problem exist with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled? Are you working with an individual home computer or in a
school or company network?
2. Are you running the program as Administrator and is there any "domain" account involved?
3. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
4. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on the computer with Premiere Elements?
Let us start by ruling in or out any of the above, and then we can decide what next.
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.

Suddenly all of my Office-programs have stopped working and will not launch on my MacBook. They were all already installed when I bought the computer. Yes, except n°1 - empty Temp directory, I had tried/checked all of those.
I emptied the local temp folder tonight, but it still won't work.
Please note: the installation doesn't give me any problem. The program was working fine, until at one point *plouf* it stopped working. I can re-install it without any problem, it just crashes when opening.
\\edit\\ I seem to have located the problem, it's in the library files. If I re-install iTunes without my library, it works fine (though there is no music in it, yet). As soon as I import my library, or replace the My Music\iTunes folder with the old one, it stops working. -

I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there. I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working. Please help.
I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.
