Run Software Update to get to the most up-to-date version of 10.4.x. You will find Software Update by clicking the Apple Symbol in the upper left of your screen and then clicking Software Update.
However you have a pretty old machine and you cannot access the Mac App Store on 10.4.x, you need at least 10.6.6 to do so. Look at the minimum specifications the camera you are considering has then compare with your machine's specifications. If you are not sure what the specs are on your machine open System Profiler (Applications- Utilities - System Profiler) and you can find the specifications.

your computer has what is called a recovery partition that came with it.
simply hold cmd+R while you boot up. let go a second after you hear the chime.
you will boot into the recovery partition.
Use disk utlity to format your usb drive and then exit Disk utlity and go to Reinstall Mountain Lion.
it will ask you which disk you want to install ML onto. Choose your new USB drive.

I want to set up appointment times for an overseas trip on my iPhone 4S before I go, and have them appear as I put them in (for the local time) when visiting other countries. Regarding your question about reverting back- yes, I think you can. If you make a backup of your current configuration in Server Admin (by dragging the configuration file to your desktop- cool, no?) then you can load that one back in should your configuration not work. If you have the manual from Apple it should describe this process.
Network speed post-op? I don't think you will need to worry. Even using home directories stored on our OS X Server there is no network slowdown (that you can notice or that impacts the wider LAN in any case). It shouldn't slow down access to files, applications (which still come from the local drive anyway) or individual internet connections (even with filtering).
In our experience some of these things have actually got faster- but a lot of that is user perception. Same goes for people who will know you have configured the server and that they are now accessing files through your network from the server, and who really think it is slower. File coming from your local hard drive will always be quicker- but network access isn't that bad that it will make you barf and run in the opposite direction.
Something to look at: connection speed between clients and switching technology in your office. In other words, what kinds of switches are you using, what line speed have you got (100MB/s?) and is the connection from your server to the switch gigabit? Make sure it is.

Hi, I have Lightroom 4, but it does not support the new 10-30 pd lens for my Nikon 1. It is supported in LR5. Can I download this lens profile and install in LR4?
Do you have the latest camera raw installed for Photoshop? If so, you can find the profiles in /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Nikon/ . Lightroom should recognize them if you move them into your home directory's Library folder in the exact same folder structure (but in the Library folder in your home directory). This is assuming you are using Mac OS X. No clue where these files would be on Windows. If you don't have Photoshop, you can install Camera Raw using the combined installer with DNG converter which is a free download from Adobe. This should (I think) give you the profiles in that exact location without owning Photoshop.

Most new ones now have Lion pre-installed. Some models still in inventory before Lion was released still have Snow Leopard pre-installed. If you wanted Lion then you needed to purchase and download it from the App Store unless you applied for the free Lion redemption code. Since you may have purchased an older model that was on sale and did not get Lion pre-installed you had to purchase Lion separately. The Lion Up-To-Date offer expired some time ago, but you are free to take the matter up with the vendor.

When you purchase Mountain Lion, you can install it as many times as you want on all your computers for free. To install it on the desktop, open the App Store, go to Purchases tab and download OS X Mountain Lion.
Another option is to redownload it on the MacBook, put the installer onto a USB drive and connect it to the desktop in order to upgrade -

I downloaded Safari 5.1 onto Mac OS 10.6.8 some time ago. Yesterday the back/forward arrows next to the url window changed to a +, which adds the current url as a bookmark. I want the arrows back. What happened, and how can I fix this? Thanks. kammro

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal. Test.
