My new iMac does not recognise an iso image of windows install disk in boot camp

I have the iso file for win7 64bit but when I run bootcamp I do not get the option to use a USB stick, so loaded the file onto a DVD-R disk.
When I load the disc the iMac tries to read it then stops and asks to me to put the disk in.
I am logged in to the machine as the administrator.
As a registered MSDN member I downloaded the iso file direct from the Microsoft MSDN website only a couple of weeks ago.
Any asisstance will be most appreciated, as I am a Mac newby and I really want to dump my old windows laptop and desktop machines1

Hi I'd recommend re-posting in the Boot Camp forum, that is where the Boot Camp & Windows guru's hang out.
Good luck.

The new iMacs also do not have a Firewire port so if you have firewire devices you will need a Thundbolt to FW adapter.

Thank you for your reply.  I know I can use a card reader however I don't see why I should when importing directly from my camera has worked reliably for years.  The process I use is simply connecting the digital output from my camera to the USB port on the iMac, which has previously automatically opened iPhoto ready for the import.  Now all of a sudden my iMac does not recognise the camera.  However if I connect in the same way to my MacBook then iPhoto opens automatically on the MacBook, recognises the camera and is ready for importing.  So whilst I know I can use a reader, or my MacBook I want to use my iMac in the same way that I have for years.  I can only assume that the settings on the iMac may have changed, but I cannot verify this.

  • Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.

When I try to install Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.
I purchased Windows 8.1 Pro, I downloaded the .exe requested file from a Windows computer, performed the steps recommended by Microsoft in order to create the ISO file saving it on a flash drive as well and, as a precaution, on a DVD too.
I performed the "Download the latest Windows Support Software from Apple" step directly into another flash drive and having it completed BootCamp displays the following message:
"The installer disc could not be found  –  Insert the Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized. "
So happens that I have tried this using the DVD, pendrive and also copying the ISO file to the desktop and to the "Documents" folder as recommended in certain websites, but none of this has made the process go ahead. What can I do?
My equipment is a mid 2011 iMac running Mac OSX 10.10.1.

    Dear Loner T,
thanks to my coworker, the solution was unpacking from that ISO file which I had recorded (according to the steps indicated by Microsoft), but now using Nero software (Windows) and then recording by the most common way in a new DVD. See the screen of the first DVD before unpacking:
This true saga only demonstrated that the generated ISO file as an option at the time of the Windows installation, is not for direct installation through BootCamp, and as a I could check, even for direct installation on a Windows PC. See the last DVD burned using Nero and  again recorded:
The execution of BootCamp, was perfect
Thank you for attention to my problem!

  • My 2010 imac does not recognise my time machine since I had the Seagate replacement hard drive. Any thought from anyone? The External hard drive is a 1 TB seagate

My iMac (2010 intel model) does not recognise or communicate with my external seagate drive as a time machine for back ups since I had the 1TB Seagate replacement hard drive as part of the replacement prgram with OSX LION 10.5.8 installed.
Is this because I need to update the time machine drive itself?

  • Please help. ive bought a second hand ipod nano, when i connect it to my  pc it recognises it as a sigma mass usb device, yet its a 8gb ipod nano, and i tunes does not recognise it, im running on windows vista basic yet my own 80g classic ipod runs perfect

please help. ive bought a second hand ipod nano, when i connect it to my pc, it does not recognise it in itunes, yet it comes up as a sigma mass usb device. its an ipod nano 8gb?. im running on windows vista,my own ipod classic runs fine.

there is a good chance that this can be related to bad contact in USB lead.. e.g not enough power from IPOD to PC so that pc cannot recognise it. Where I work I get alot of USB devices on pc's that are not recognised and most of the time it is the connection to the device that is not good enough because the flat end of the USB adapter has been gradually bent over time just slightly and now contact is not good. It can also be todo with drivers or If you are using it through a USB hub.
so if it is not working through USB hub try direct. also try in back of PC as these Ports or direct access to main board to pc and would be less trouble some if there was a voltage loss from mainboard in pc to front of unit.

  • Itunes does not recognise ipad or iphone after window 8.1 patch May 2014

Last week my laptop did a patch update to windows 8.1 and now  Itunes does not recognise  my ipad or iphone when i plug them into the USB ports.
The devices do ask "to trust the computer" and Windows itself reconises the ipad and iphone and i can get to files on the apple products through windows but itunes doesnt see them and therefore doesnt sync  therefore i cant download music onto my phone etc.
Ps i did uninstall itunes and reinstalled but this didnt work.  Although after reading about other people with similar  issues on past window updates I think  I may need to uninstall all apple software .
I have an old Ipod 5G that works fine with Itunes.
Anybody with similar issues and a plan to get this sorted ?...... as i need music on my phone for holiday !!

My iMac does not start up as usual. I now get a ' start up disk is full. You need to make space available on your start up disk by deleting files' message.
I am able to key my log on password however I just get the purple galaxy screen with no desktop.
If I try to use the keyboard I get a tone when pressing the keys.
Has worked perfectly well up until I got this dusk full message.
    Can anyone help please. Thanks

Your going to have to follow the Data Recovery Efforts page here to be able to access your drive and remove files without booting the computer.
You can't open the iMac so you will need OS X booted from a external drive or via Firewire Target Disk Mode using another Mac.

I would concentrate on Movies as this is a big source of large files to free up room.

If you not handy with computers, your going to have to hire a local service or provide the info above to someone you know who can, it's not easy.

I have adobe acrobat 9 on cd. New computer does not have cd drive. How do i install? Thank you

    Hey ems6,
You might need to copy the installer to the USB disk on another computer.
    Hope that helps.

  • New laptop does not have cd capability, how do I install acrobat 7.0

My new laptop does not have cd capability for me to insert install disc, how do I install acrobat 7 with just a serial number ?

The "activation server" at Adobe, which let you install and use it, was turned off years ago. You cannot use your CD in any case. (Though in fact external plug-in CDs are cheap, easy to use, and pretty much essential).
There is a special download of Acrobat 7 for licensed users (with new serial)... but it won't work on current systems. Unless you have Windows Vista, 32-bit, or older you probably need to buy Acrobat again. (No upgrades any more, sad to say).

  • My new iMac does not see my last iMac backup in Time Machine

I just got a new iMac and I wanted to get my files from the time machine back up of my old iMac. Migration assistant did not see my iMac backup. It sees my Macbook backups, but not my iMac. My old iMac was running Yosemite Beta and the new one runs 10.9.5. Is the OS difference the issue?

Since it's a new machine, contact Apple's Support and let them deal with the problem. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for an onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located).  BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.

  • Brand new iMac does not work wirelessly

This is a very strange situation and I don't know how much to be concerned about it.
6 weeks ago I bought the first of two brand new iMacs. We have two old G4s both wired into a Netgear wireless router, plus the printer. The first new iMac when switched on, immediately found the Netgear and has worked perfectly, wirelessly, ever since. As it should.
Less than a week ago I bought the second new iMac, which is identical to the first. I put it on the _same desk_ as the Netgear, therefore a distance of only one foot. Straight out of the box, it worked wirelessly to register itself with Apple.
Since then, it has only worked wirelessly very intermittently, and then very slowly indeed. I was wasting far too much time trying to figure out why the wireless did not work, and eventually wired it into the router too.
I was attempting to set up a network with 2 old G4s wired in, and 2 new iMacs wireless. Now I have 3 wired in and one wireless.
Is there something wrong with the second brand new iMac? Or is there some line I should be pursuing with Netgear?
I have written all the IP addresses down in case anyone responding - and I sure hope SOMEONE responds! - thinks that this may be a clue.
Many thanks in advance to all and any replies.

Update: I'm posting this in case it helps others......
I phoned the software support which comes free for 90 days with a brand new iMac.
The bright young man there instantly knew what the problem was, because he'd seen it all before. There's nothing wrong with the iMac and it has nothing to do with IP addresses.
I have to go into the Netgear configuration screen and Enable MAC filtering. This means I'll give the router the hardware addresses of the two iMacs and it will then allow both of them to communicate wirelessly - but no other devices which might be lurking in the vicinity.
    Sounds good to me.

  • Finder in new iMac does not show wife's iMac, but hers shows mine. Why?

Purchased new iMac Retina, and set up on local network. Wife's older iMac can see mine in finder, but not vice versa. Both using Yosemite. What have I done wrong?

    Walton,
You need to setup Sharing on your iMac. Please read Apple's OS X Yosemite: Share your files with other Mac users

  • Applescript script being called for new mail does not recognise MessageID

I have come across the same issue referred to in a previous message in this forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=926080) but it does not go the extra step that I need.
I need a script that will run on incoming mail messages and be able to create a text file with a completely unique name. I found that using the message subject and the receive date was not sufficient as I occasionally get messages that would create duplicates (and hence loose all but the last message). I tried to add in the MessageID value into the text file name but it would appear (based on the referenced previous posting) that the MessageID is not actually assigned at the time the script is triggered (but is if the script is run after the message is visible in the InBox).
Is there another unique value that I could use (such as MessageID) that IS available on an incoming message?
    Thanks
    Susan

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually did have the date/time down to the second, but the speed with which the web site that generates these mails works (I am looking for work and extracting the job listing for further processing), especially if there are only a few jobs, means I can get emails that have the same timestamp to the second. I thought that this would be enough but when I saw 2 emails in my inbox and then say only one file in the extract folder, I investigated further and found that the timestamp was not sufficient.
I also owe you all an apology in that I realised after I found the original message and posted this one, that it was the Tiger forum, whereas I'm running Leopard. Therefore I cross-posted my message and referenced this one form the other forum but not vice versa.
Anyway, the solution turns out to be to use
set UniqueName to do shell script "uuidgen"
    as provided in http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9512884.

  • New iMac does not detect my Sony HDR video camera

I just purchased a new 24inch (2.8Ghz) iMac with Leopard installed. I wanted to try making a short home movie using iMovie but my Mac cannot seem to make a connection with my Sony HDR-HC3 video camera. It doesnt even detect it. Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?
The Sony HDR-HC3 uses an iLink (firewire 400) cable to connect to the Mac. The camera did not come with a supplied iLink cable and i had to buy a compatible iLink cable made by a company called EDM. Surely it cannot be the cable that is causing this problem?

    Good advice.
I thought what i did were normal steps, that's why i skipped those..
    What i did:
    1. Search thru this forum. And find out all relevant threads, inclusive trying whatever methods suggested... (i suppose i have screened through all)
    2. Besides image capture, i went to system profiler and click on the USB, nothing was shown when USB was plugged. (i tried with my FUJIFILM FINEPIX F30, which worked well)
    3. Visited Sony support website (obviously not as friendly as apple's site)
i don't know what else i can do. I have even tried to kept Switching on/off the camera, pluged out my mouse/keyboard while trying, restarting the Mac...
    MANY THANKS AGAIN!!
p/s-by the way, saw some threads that said solution in card reader (i don't have any).
