My new Pavillion G-7

When I asked for help with the HP techincal folks in Mumbai, India they worked on my broken CD software for 1.75 hrs on Saturday 7-27 by remote "take-over" of my Pavillion G-7 which was less than 5 weeks old.
Sadly they could not "repair" my new computer.
I don't need a new computer without the ability to play CD's.
I just think it's not fair since I paid approx $500 of my hard earned dollars for this.
I'm wondering if I take back this broken computer will HP repair it and sell it again as a "remanufactured" computer I see for sale in places like Wal-Mart?

The Mumbai folks tried that recovery via remote. Twice from what I saw.
Thanks for the offer to escalate. However after researching the scary Forum stories I believe my buying HP for the reputation they USED to have was just a fantasy.
IMO HP is just not what they were years ago.
I suspect the unit will be going back to HP in a cardboard coffin.
Thanks for the ear Frank.

I found the driver at the above link.  I installed the driver, disabled my graphics card and rebooted.  The touchscreen worked.  Then I enabled the graphics card.  So far so good.  Hope I dont have to do this routine too often.
    Good luck with it.

  • Speakers not working on brand new pavillion dv6. headphones work fine

I've just taken this Pavillion DV6 PC out of the box and the speakers are not working.   Windows 7.   Sound is fine when I plug headphones in.

    Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your Audio Driver ( probably IDT ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio through the speakers.
If you still have no sound, I would return the unit and get it replaced - you shouldn't have to be troubleshooting a brand new machine.

  • Brand new Pavillion Slimline Windows 7 - audio distorted - Realtek HD drivers not working?

Just got a brand new Windows 7 box - HP Pavillion slimline
the audio is distorted - you especially hear it when using the CPU - so if I'm playing a track in iTunes, and i open my Chrome browser with 5 tabs, I get a ton of distortion in the audio.
This distortion is regardless of output - external speakers or headphones.
And regardless of program - itunes, WMP, etc.
I have tried installing older and newer versions of the Realtek HD driver from the HP site, and the latest windows 7 version from the Realtek site to no avail.
I have also tried running the latest Realtek driver from their site in compatibility mode for Windows Vista SP2 - no good.
What can I do to solve this?? I called HP tech support and they have no other ideas! Help!

I have registered only to help you hehe. I uninstalled NORTON ANTIVIRUS and all my sound problems disappeared like MAGIC Try it!

  • Upgrading a new Pavillion 6633w-b

    Hello HP forum!
Recently I bought a Pavillion 6633w-b.  The specs are:
amd athlon ii 255 3.1 ghz
    5gb ddr3
    640gb hd
    23 inch monitor
I couldn't find info on the box about the power supply (bought it at wal-mart, not on display) so when I got home I looked it up and found out it has a 250 watt power supply .  I want to play Starcraft 2, Civ 5, and maybe WoW on the pc (which I don't think are too demanding), so I went out and bought a gt430 because it only required a 300 watt power supply.  Well when I woke up today I had a change of heart and took the gt430 back.  I picked up a 600w gs600 corsair and a radeon hd 5750.
So now my question to the forum is will these new additions fit into the pavillion 6633w-b?  (I haven't opened anything yet, I figured I would ask first, but I'm dying to play with the new toy!)  The dimensions on the psu is 150mm x 86mm x 160mm.
Also when I started out my intentions were not too add the power supply and the better video card, but now that I have, should I just start over with a different cpu or is the amd athlon ok for this machine?  I don't want to suffer performance because of the cpu.
    Thanks in advance!

    Ice,
You made good choices with the PSU and video card.  These are the motherboard and upgrade specifications for your PC.  The ATI 5750 is a very good mid-range lower wattage video card.  Corsair is an excellent power supply.  The GS600 is a few tenths on an inch longer but it shoud fit.  Replace the PSU first and get the PC up and running before installing the video card.
Review the ATI and NVIDIA performance specifications. Look at the memory bandwidth specifications and the DirectX level support.

  • New Pavillion DV6 with Windows 7. Synaptics TouchPad cannot start - error code 10.

I've had the laptop for about three weeks. Installed an HP 3005pr USD 3.0 Port Replicator a few days ago and the Synaptics TouchPad stopped working (perhaps not related?). Keyboard works fine. I've used a Microsoft USB keyboard and mouse for several weeks with no problem. Spent an hour and 20 minutes with HP tech support while the BIOS was refreshed and the TP driver updated (although the download didn't install correctly).
I am now getting a message: "device cannot start (code 10).
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
First, can you provide the specific model of dv6 you have, that can impact what steps are suggested.
Which Touchpad driver did you attempt to install with HP Tech Support?  You mentioned that the driver didn't install correctly, did it generate an error message? If so what was the error?
The first thing I would do in your situation would be to use MS System Restore to go back to a restore point when the Touchpad was working, if such a restore point exists.  Take a look at the document below, and look for the section called "Restoring Windows to a previous point" and follow those steps, choosing a restore point when you are sure that the touchpad was working.

  • What can I do about slow browser on new p7-1298c? It worked fine for awhile but now slows to a crawl

I have a new Pavillion p7-1298c with windows 7-64 bit. It has slowed to a crawl while browsing the internet it takes 5 to 10 minutes to load a single page. Any suggestions?

    Have you tried this?
    Boot into the Administrator account.
    Right-click on Internet Explorer.
    Click on Security tab.
See if you are able to provide FULL control to the Standard User account.
Next, boot into Standard User account and try to launch IE.  Any change?
You may also want to check to make sure that Protected Mode is OFF.
You can check whether Protected Mode is enabled by using File>Properties.
You can change that state by using Internet Options Security Settings via IE Tools.

  • Can the touchpad buttons on the Pavillion dv7 be replaced or dampened?

I really like my new Pavillion dv7 but the touchpad buttoms are really loud and annoying.  Is there anything that can be done short of using a mouse?  I hope HP is doing something to address this.

The best way to find out would be to take it in to an Apple store for diagnosis (free, repairs are not).

  • Pavillion 15-e097sa - I need Windows 7 USB drivers

Hello. I recently bought a new Pavillion 15-e097sa. I have installed Windows 7 x64. Two of the USB ports are not working. I would very much like to get the drivers for them.   The hardware Ids is: ACPI\HPQ6007*HPQ6007  Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Giles

Hi, Giles: You need the following drivers for the USB and if you don't have the graphics driver, I'll give you that too. First install the amd chipset driver and reboot.  You want the first file listed on the webpage. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows 7 - 64 For the graphics, you install the AMD Mobility Catalyst Beta graphics driver from the link below. http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx Then for the USB 3.0, you download and install both of these drivers. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5359417&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253Dob_123787_1%257CswEnvOID%253D4058%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5359417&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253Dob_118744_1%257CswEnvOID%253D4058%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

  • No compatibility MacBook Pro & Paviiion 23XI Monitor

My new Pavillion 23xi works very well with my samsung and sony laptops. However with my MacBook Pro it not working properly. The picture is out of proportion and blurred. Setting are ok.
It is not the HDMI connection to the Thunderbolt. Who knows what the reason can be?  And what the solutions is.
Apple and HP support cannot help here. Regards ,willem.

I am also having the same problem connecting my Mac via HDMI.  I'm using a 2012 Mac Mini with my 23xi and the screen is blurred.  I haven't found a solution as of yet (if any) but found that using the DVI connection into the Thunderbolt port with the use of an adapter gave me a great picture.  The adapter cost me £5 on eBay (around $7.50).  Although I'm happy with this setup at the moment my plan was to buy another 23xi for a dual screen setup, however this isn't possibe just now with the HDMI input being so poor.
Hopefully HP/Apple will address this problem.

  • Wifi doesn't find a network. Error 1114 a DLL init routine failed

    My wifi no longer works.
Looks like I have a DLL problem.
When I try to start WLAN AutoConfig Service I get:
Windows could not start the LAN AutoConfig service on Local Computer
Error 2224: A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.
Is there a way to fix this without losing my applications by doing a factory restore?
I've now booted using the Lenova Care button to get to the Rescue and Recovery 4 screen (ThinkVantage Technologies).
Can I use ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows Vista Notebooks to fix the problem.
If so can anyone who has done this advise on their experience please?

I have this problem on a new Pavillion DM4 laptop - it's incredibly irritating. It does not happen on a similarly configured (Win 7) desktop I have. Any idea how to fix it - presumably the HP install is missing a DLL or putting it in the wrong directory (for BOINC)?It's not lised on the Berkely BOINC website so presumably unique to the HP install.Thanks.

  • How do I boot a HP Pavvillion 500 pd fro a DVD?

I just got a new Pavillion 500 PC.  It is running Windows 8---which I hate already---and I am having trouble doing things that were easy on previous HP Pavillions that I've owned.
In particular,  I can't figure out how to boot from a bootable DVD in the DVD drive.    The default booting sequence ignores the DVD and just boots the system.  I found a way going to a a recover menu which supposedly would let me boot from the DVD drive, but when I try it, it gives me an error message telling me that I am not allowed to do that.  Apparently I need to set some system parameter, but I have no idea how to do it.
Can anyone give me a clue about how to do it.
My ultimate aim is to boot from an external USB drive containing a bootable version of Fedora LInux.  Again, that should be possible with the same method, but I haven't tried it yet.
It seems to me that in certain cases, when the computer is all messed up, one sould be able to boot from a Windows installation disk in order to fix things.  So I don't see why they make it so hard.

    I understand what you say.
I assume the same would be true if I wanted to boot from a bootable external usb hard drive.
    That is my ultimate aim.
One thing I need to get straight.    Is it true that I must reset the comuter to secure boot and the default settings in order to use windows.
If so, it hardly seems worth the troble to set up the comppter to daul boot Windows and Linx.   It would be simpler to get a separate computer on which to pt Linux.

  • "Access denied" when external WD HDD moved to Win8 machine

Hi all. My new Win8 machine does not let me access my backup external WD HDD. It's assigned a letter k:, but I only get "Access is denied".
Old box died (Pavillion running Vista). I bought a new Pavillion running Win8.
Updating the driver tells me I already have the latest driver. I ran cmd prompt "secedit...", as suggested in other articles, but no success. I tried changing Admin rights, but it "failed to enumerate objects in the container."
I didn't have password protection on the external HDD.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
What is the result in disk management?
    Refer to this article:
