My new Qosmio X500 has a power on problem

My laptop Qosmio X500 has a problem. When i want to power on nothing happens and I should remove the battery and replace it till my laptop begins to work.
BIOS of my laptop is the new one so, i don't need to update it.
The battery is full charged too.
Can someone tell me what should I do?
I bought it only for 1 week.
It seems i should send it back.
Please someone gives me advice

I am having this problem for the past couple of days were my system locks up and freezes.
I have to removeed power cable and battery to restart, its a Qosmio X500-134 and it randomly just happens but round the same time each time 19.00 but some times at different times jsut depends how long i have been on the computer for.
Its a registry, driver or definetly hardware problem that is causing it i have narrowed it down to.
I have the latest drivers and bios so theres an issue somewere :(
I'm dissapointed due to the laptop not being very old only a few weeks.

  • Qosmio X500/02G gaming/fingerprint/crashing problems

hi all, i have recently brought a Qosmio X500/02G about 2 months ago, i had initially had a problem where i launched modern warfare 2 and it took forever to load then i had massive lag in the game where my soldier couldnt even move most the time and i was waiting for it to crash but never did it just lagged the whole time, so took it into harvey norman to check it out they rebooted it and now i my original fingerprints dont work and when i try to install it again it says already stored but their is no finger prints stored in the finger print menu, however my game started running with less lag, but then once i passed a few levels it starts massivly lagging again, i have called toshiba support and havnt had much luck accept to take it back to harvey normans and get them to sort it but i havnt had much luck so far. I payed $3,300 for this machine and was promised it was the best for gaming but so far has been a massive headache, is it because its 64 bit?  this model doesnt have an option to run in 32 bit as its designed only for 64 bit... advice? shall i take it back to harvey normans and make them fix it till it runs perfect with no lag or never crashes on any of my games (it even crashes on colin mcrae dirt)
Any help would be greatly appreciated and model details are below

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It had problems the first day i brought it, and then when i installed modern warfare 2 it lagged like crazy and i returned it to harvey normans straight away to complain about it, then they reformated it and, i lost the fingerprinting ability with a few of my fingers as it stored it in a place where i cant delete and it wont recognise it any more, alot of people have this problem also with upgrading their toshiba to windows 7 where mine is reformating, and then the computer crashes on colin mcrae dirt constantly and especially when it loads the races up, then it freezes whilst watching a dvd on it in which i have to restart the computer, then the most recent event is it goes to a blue screen and tells me its dumping physical memory then shuts down and when rebooted the prompting got worse till the point where i have had to do a recovery where it is back to some what of a stable state but end result im not happy at all with this laptop and i wish i never brought it. If toshiba wants my money in future they better sort this problem out asap.
This is all i could gather from the computer crashing.

  • Qosmio x500 and Video/Power problems

In case someone else gets this problem...
Installed new video drivers (v.8.16.11.8973, win7 64 bit). After restart got the following simptoms/problems:
    1. Laptop was connected to the mains and Power LED was on,
    2. Battery LED was off (battery was not charging),
    3. Laptop was running on the battery power (even though it was connected to the mains).
Tried unplugging, restarting etc... nothing worked.
Rolled video drivers back to v.8.16.11.8875 and everything works fine.... so far

the way it happened and the way i dealt with it:
installed new video driver (came up as an update through the board and service center), restarted laptop (battery in and the laptop hooked up to the mains), when OS loaded up I noticed that the laptop was on the battery power (even though it was connected to the mains)..
    reconnected the mains...... no joy
turned it off...... still no joy (power led was on but the battery was not charging)...
disconnected from mains and removed the battery, then connected to the mains and put battery back in...... battery started charging....
pressed power button, laptop started up, but when OS loaded up it showed that it was running on the battery power (still connected to the mains)...
turned it off, disconnected from mains and removed the battery...... connected back to the mains
pressed the power button, it lit up momentarily and went off
    so,
I put the battery back in and charged it up, When charged, i started laptop up and restored the OS back to the date when it was working.
after restart i reinstalled video drivers (used the drivers that were on the HDD from factory) and turned laptop off. Removed battery, connected back to the mains and put the battery back in..... so far so good..... AC was on and charging.....
started the laptop up..... no dramas...... updated Win7..... restarted.... no problems.
Turned laptop off, removed battery, started it up and OS loaded up....
thats what happened to me and how it worked for me with my laptop.

  • This new IOS.5 has caused nothing but problems on my ipod

Is anyone else having problems with the new updates?  I have since loaded the new updates on my ipod touch and it deleted all of my songs and my photos  and seems to do a backup and gets stuck on the step 2 of 8.  IS anyone else having theses issues.  When I try to sync my ipod with my old songs and photos, it seems to be doing an update that takes forever and then I get an error. I cannot play any of my songs.  If Apple support is reading these, could you please offer a way to fix this problems.
    Thanks!

  • My iPad no longer sounds an alert for new email.  Has anyone had this problem?

I have used to get a bell sound when new mail came into my mailbox, but it no longer sounds even though I have the settings showing a new mail sound.

If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Qosmio X500-014 (LED Backlit Display)

    Hello all, quick question here.
Just picked up my new Qosmio X500-014, although I'm quite satisfied with this machine I wish this particular model had the LED Backlit Display for the keypad.
Would it be possible to buy the correct Backlit keypad and swap it for the one in my mcahine? Or are there other components required as well?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for reply Dr.Lamp.
I did take the time to call Toshiba today and was told that I have a canadian model with multilingual keypad no backlighting. (Qosmio X500-014 Mfr. Part Number: PQX33C-01400N). They also told me that they do not carry nor sell parts for these laptops, any advice as to weather a backlit keypad would be compatible with my model is inconclusive. They did however give me the number to there parts supplier:
    National Parts Depot (1-800-524-8338)
Speaking with a Rep at National Parts Depot I was told they do not carry parts for the canadian versions, only the US versions. They do not have any reference to the X500 version only the X505 version.
Now I`m confused, is the X500 canadian only and the X505 the US variant? This may explain why all the models I see here in Canada have the same multilingual keypad with no lighting? (not sure)
So I decided to take things a step further and gave them the part number to a US model that has the English only LED backlit keypad . (Qosmio X505-Q850 Mfr. Part Number: PQX33U-00L00H). NPD won`t give me the part numbers for the keypad, but does have availability for $90.00 US funds, no guarantee that the LED lighting will work with my model number but should physically fit into my X500.
So, I guess I need to find the parts supplier for Canada and see what they have to say, if all else fails I may just take the $90 dollar gamble on the keypad for the X505 and see what happens, worst case I can always resell it on Ebay.
I`ll keep this thread updated with any findings, thanks.

  • Qosmio X500 - Black screen crash when loading games, requiring reboot

I have a brand new Qosmio X500 (PQX33A-00X00J) with all the original drivers as they came out the box, and 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium OS. The only thing I've done on this laptop is install games. The laptop runs fine for most things, and for a very few games (Unreal Tournament 2007 is the only one so far), but almost all games crash with a black screen the first time they're run. Sometimes I'll see a splash screen the first time, and once or twice I've got to a start screen, but thereafter the screen goes completely black, no sound, and the machine freezes requiring a reboot.
It's extremely frustrating, considering this is a brand new, out of the box gaming laptop, and I haven't changed any drivers or anything. It's running an Nvidia Geforce GTS 250M display card, and the native resolution for the LCD screen is 1920x1080. I suspect it may have something to do with the unusual native screen resolution or the aspect ratio, because I managed to get one game to run (FEAR) by going into the supplied config utility and setting the game's default screen resolution to 1024x768. FEAR has the same crash if set to a higher resolution.
    The games I've tried:
Unreal Tournament 2007 - runs perfectly at all resolutions
Half Life 2 - crashes on launch with black screen, no sound, requiring reboot.
Counter Strike - the 1st time I managed to the setup screen, changed screen resolution, it crashed immediately. Thereafter it crashes straight away on launch, I can't even get to the setup screen. Uninstalled, reinstalled, same thing, crashes on launch with black screen, requiring reboot.
Bioshock - only ever got a "Bioshock" logo, then crashes with black screen, requiring reboot.
Frontlines - Fuel of War - crashes on launch with blank screen, requiring reboot.
Call Of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare - crashes immediately on loading with black screen, requiring reboot.
Crysis - crashes immediately on loading with black screen, requiring a reboot.
Except for UT 2007, almost every game has just crashed the first time it's been run, I usually don't even get a 1st shot at trying to change any settings. I've tried loading the games that provide a safe mode in that (e.g. Modern Warfare), but the same thing happens. I've also tried setting the laptop resolution to 1024x768 before running the games, but no difference. I've also made sure I'm running the latest patched version of the games, and I've checked the Toshiba website, but there are no driver updates so far that I can find for this laptop either.
I'm completely pulling my hair out, and solving this is very time consuming, because every time I try anything I have to reboot before I can try something else. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Someone suggested I try turning off my antivirus, and it turns out that was the problem. It seems Comodo has compatibility problems with games in Windows 64-bit editions since one of their latest releases.

  • Qosmio X500-110 - Slow start up

    hi,
I bought new Qosmio X500-110 two weeks ago. In third day, I realized that HDDs are too slow. After tnb computer changed this one. Second Qosmio is too slow. Especially start-up time is average 10 minutes. Also right speaker was scratchy. at the moment, it is in technical service again and again it may be changed.
    BIOS is 1.40
Don't work sleep mode. This problem is general. everbody says this problem.
HOW MUCH IS START-UP TIME ON YOUR QOSMIO X500's???

    Hi
Its not tricky to reduce the start up time from Windows:
    -Defragment your HDDs
-Uninstall all programs that you dont need
-Run CCleaner to clean Windows registry
-Disable all startup programs that you dont need in msconfig
    -etc.
If you search with Google and here in forum you will find enough threads where you can find solutions for this.

  • Qosmio X500 - Very low sound

    Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my new Qosmio X500. Its speakers produce a very low sound, especially when I'm using Guitar Pro. Please, tell me, if it can be improved somehow. Thanks a lot!

Have you tried adjusting the speaker enhancements? This Increased the volume quite a bit for me.
Open "SOUND" from the control panel, on the "Playback" tab double click "Speakers" This will bring up the "Speaker Properties" box. Go to the enhancements Tab. "Loudness Equalization" made the biggest increase for me.

  • Qosmio F750 WEBCAM IR (infrared light) problem

The colors gets wrong when I use the built in webcam on my Qosmio F750W10. Red gets pinkish and black tends to be violet/blue.
Using a IR-CUT filter in front of the camera lens gives correct colors and using a IR-open (closes all visible light) The camera still sees all in black/white.
My conclusion is that the camera has no or a non functioning IR filter.
Is this an error with the built in webcam or did Toshiba use a cra**y cheap camera in this expensive computer?
The problem is worse when I sit under a Halogen lamp, guess it radiates more IR-light.
And yes, I have tried all available software adjustments! And yes I have reinstalled OS and drivers!
    Anyone else experienced this?
    Regards.

    Hi,
I do not expect this built in webcam to have superiour quality (resolution is 1280x800 ) but I would like the colors recognition to be OK. All red, dark red and orange looks like a bleached Pink Panter. I have tested 4 other laptops (Acer,Asus, Toshiba Portege) none of them has any troble with colour recognition even if some is much cheaper and has lower resolution cameras.
My Qosmio F750 is still under warranty but I have a problem making Toshiba Support understand that this is a problem.
Should I not expect better quality? So I would like to *check out if any other owners of this Qosmio F750 has this color recognition problem* with the built in webcam.
And as I said before I have found that the problem is that the camera has no IR-CUT filter. Is this camera designed with no IR protection, or is it a production error with my computer?

  • Has anyone had any problems with fusion drive?  If so, what kind of problems, and were they easily corrected?

I'm looking at buying a new computer.  Has anyone had any problems with fusion drive on iMac?  If so, what kind of problems, and were they easily corrected?

    NOPE!
I better not!  My iMac is only a week old.  And, if I did have any problems with it, I would let Apple deal w/it!  I do not troubleshoot when I'm under warranty.  That's Apple job!

  • Need new Lap Top Qosmio X500-02M

Hi all, new to this forum so looking forward to reading some of your expert advise. Time to upgrade my laptop......again, I am looking at the X500 02M. I want the best fastest lap top I can get my hands on for what I do... is this it??
*I will be using it for the following*:
High speed internet use, must be very quick at opening numerous pages and letting me scan between all open web sites with a quick refresh time.
Forum discussions, I talk on quite a few forums and they do take a while to refresh when I am on 3-4 at a time, must be quick here.
Photography and photoshop, I will have the Adobe Lightroom 3 (when it's realesed) downloaded on the laptop. I will also have a 500GB external hard drive with photos on it that. I will be importing from the external hd to photoshop. I don't want to be waiting all day to import and work on photos.
I will also be watching DVD's including Blue Ray and I know the X500 02M supports this function.
I realise this laptop is predominately for gamers but will it also fulfil my needs, I am not a gamer so if there is anything else out there that will do the same job in Toshiba please let me know. I am very keen on this model though and I have done a fair bit of research.
I will also be getting the Gaming Backpack and a few other odds and ends. Please recommend any additional extras you think would come in handy.
Cheers, look forward to the responses..

I presume all Qosmios x500 are preinstalled with 64bit operating systems only.
Every Toshiba notebook is delivered with preinstalled recovery image. This recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities and also some additional applications.
Some of them you don't need and it can be removed from the system. Many Toshiba tools and utilities start with OS but some of them you don't need at all and they can also be removed from the system or disabled in MSCONFIG > Startup. Just optimize preinstalled operating system and make it faster. So you will be able to swath very fast between all applications you use.
One more thing: you can also configure power settings, CPU performance, cooling method and so on. With right settings you can have optimal hardware performance and pretty quiet notebook.
Mann, there is so much you can do with it. Anyway, X500 looks great. Friend of mine has one and he uses it for gaming. It is really great piece of hardware.

  • Qosmio X500: power adapter stopped working for no reason

    Hi,
Now i have my Qosmio X500 for a year and i like it, however i have small problems with it, and i would like to know if it can be problematic.
The first thing is that my power adapter stopped working for no reason,
So i bought a new one, but it always made some noise when the laptop was fully charged.
I know people with the same laptop and their adapter didn't make that sizzling noise, it looks like it was already defect from the begin.
Then i have one dead pixel in the middle of my screen, no problem for me.
Finally my screen is a bit loose from the laptop, when i close it, i can move it, it always seems like it's not on it's correct place, because when i close it normally it's not 100% horizontal...
Also when i replace my screen, my speakers make crackling noises and my webcam stops working.
So all those problems i have annoy me, especially the last one (webcam and speakers problem), can this fit in the warranty of the laptop? I did extend the warranty for one year...
    Thanks in advance.

    > The first thing is that my power adapter stopped working for no reason,
    > So i bought a new one, but it always made some noise when the laptop was fully charged.
I think this is AC adaptor fault maybe a broken cable or something like that I would recommend you to replace this get in contact with the dealer and ask for the new one.
    > Then i have one dead pixel in the middle of my screen, no problem for me.
I found a info about such issues:
+Information on screen technology and pixel failure tolerance for LCD displays
    +http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9502LZ0000R02.htm
    > Finally my screen is a bit loose from the laptop, when i close it, i can move it, it always seems like it's not on it's correct place, because when i close it normally it's not 100% horizontal...Also when i replace my screen, my speakers make crackling noises and my webcam stops working.
Maybe you should ask Toshiba notebook technicians for a check maybe some screws or the hinges are loose.
The speakers should be checked with connected headphones. If you will not notice the same crackling sound using headphones, then the issue might be related to speakers
