  • My right speaker suddenly stopped working

My right speaker suddenly stopped working. Does anybody know what could have happened or how I can fix it? Thanks!

Just to make certain that it's not an OS setting, check in your System Preferences>Sound and make sure that your balance is set in the middle:
If it is, and you're still having problems, you could also try resetting the SMC and the PRAM/NVRAM. If that doesn't help, it's likely a hardware problem that will have to be addressed by a trip to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

  • MacBook Pro Right Speaker Stopped Working

    Hi,
I've had a 15.4" 2.4 Ghz MacBook Pro for about three weeks now, and I've been loving it. Everything's great, especially after switching from a 3.5 year old dell. About 3 days ago though, I was listening to music, and paused it when I went to grab a snack. I came back about 10 min. later and found that my right speaker was not working. No sound whatsoever. My left speaker is perfectly fine, no problems with that. I tested everything. I played with speaker balance, I changed and unchanged audio midi setup preferences, restarted, everything. Once when I restarted the speakers were fine, even the right one. But when I started playing music, I heard the right speaker die. I don't know what's wrong.
I plan on taking it to the Apple Store, but I just want to know whether something like this has happened to anyone else, and whether there's some sort of solution to this.
I have the AppleCare Protection plan, and am still under the 90 day warranty, so I think I should be fine. Thanks!

An intermittent problem like this sounds like a hardware failure to me. Could be a loose wire inside or a poor solder joint. Either way, taking it in to Apple is the right call.

  • I made a project with multiple tracks and had it all panned and mixed.  Now it's only playing in the right speaker.  Not even regestering a left side in the master volume?  What happened, how can I get both sides back?

    Thank you for that info.
For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.

  • Right speaker stopped working suddenly

    Hi,
Last night I was listening to music with headphones and everything was working hunky-dory. But when I booted up this morning and tried to use headphones, there was very little sound coming from the right one. I unplugged them and listed closely and the right speaker on my iBook was working the same way. Is there any way to fix this without going to the Apple store or sending it in? Thanks!

Have you checked the balance in System Preferences>Sound under the Output tab?
    Good luck,
    Adrian

This is the second time this has happened but forgot how i got i working plus the phone is onlt over a month old can anybody help?

For how long have you had the battery out? Usually havening the battery out for approximately 20 minutes helps...

  • MBP 17" report, occasional white noise from right speaker

My 2.16Ghz MBP with 100GB 7200rpm drive and 1GB memory arrived a few days ago. Since then I have been installing software, running apps, and generally putting it through it's paces. I have also added a 1GB stick from Crucial. On the whole the MBP has been great, except for a few (hopefully minor) problems:
    1. It gets quite warm on the left palmrest, and gets uncomfortably hot between the keyboard and the screen. This is just during casual use, web surfing, downloading updates etc. The case temperature is about the same as my old 667MHz TiBook after it had been at 100% CPU for several hours (encoding video). I dread to think how hot the MBP will get doing something demanding.
    2. When closed the screen appears to be slightly bent, the gap at the two front corners is about 1mm wider than the gap at the latches.
    3. I have started to get hard crashes during the boot up sequence. Specifically after the grey apple I get the greyed-out multi-language reboot message and have to reboot. If I continue trying to reboot it eventually manages to get past the grey apple and boot up normally (usually this takes 2 or 3 attempts). I suspect this is due to something I've installed, possibly some Canon software for my MP750 printer.
    4. I have now heard a white noise/static sound coming from the right speaker on 5 occasions. Three of those occasions were while booting (one of them was when I first turned the MBP on! Not a good sign). The computer boots normally, but with this strange noise! The other two times where when I was launching apps. On each occasion the noise lasted about 3-5 seconds before stopping. It's more of a hissing noise, not a mooing or a whining noise. It sounds exactly like the speakers on a vinyl record player when the needle is in between songs.
Obviously all of the issue are annoying. However I'm only REALLY concerned about item 4. Item 1 was kind of expected after doing some pre-purchase research. Item 2 is annoying in a £1800 laptop, but I can reluctantly live with it. Item 3 is frustrating but I'm sure I can 'cure' it by removing software (it only started happening after a day or two of fairly heavy use). Item 4, on the other hand, is intolerable
Anyone have any suggestions? Advice appreciated. The nearest Apple store is about an hour away, so advice other than "take it to a Mac 'genius'" would be appreciated.
    17" MacBook Pro 2.16GHz Mac OS X (10.4.6) 2GB RAM

Well, that was 15 minutes of life wasted typing out the above post that I'll never get back
I was hoping for some sort of 'expert' advice from all the users here with thousands of posts. Evidently not.
Anyway ... I have (kind of) fixed the problem myself. Resetting the power management unit almost completely solves the static noise problem. I say almost, because since resetting the PMU (about 2 weeks ago now) I have heard the static noise ONCE. This is compared to hearing it around 3 or 4 times a day prior to the PMU reset.
This at least makes me slightly more confident that this is a software/firmware glitch, rather than a hardware fault.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Need advice about rattling right speaker

Hello. I have a MacBook Pro that is only 13 days old. The right speaker rattles quite annoyingly with certain sounds, including many system sounds, and even at low-moderate volumes. I can also feel a strong vibration under that speaker and under the keys along the right side of the keyboard. In many cases, if I lightly touch those keys, the rattling stops.
My question is whether anyone else has had luck getting this problems fixed? Or is this just something we have to deal with? Otherwise, my MBP is working beautifully and I hesitate to bring it in for fear of getting it back with something else wrong.
Any advice or anecdotes would be appreciated!

My UMBP also has the same problem. It is more of a resonating vibration on the right side of the the computer. I have sent my computer in twice and the first time they replaced the right speaker and the second time they had it for a week and then said it was normal. The mac specialist is now looking into it for me.

  • Beats solo right speaker failure

I purchased two Beats Solo from an authorized retailer for Christmas 2014 for my teenagers.  The right side speaker in the headphones stopped playing any sound in April 2015.  We tried all the suggested fixes such as plugging into a different device, making sure the cables are plugged in correctly, balance config., buying a replacement cable and none of them work.  3 weeks later, the second pair developed the same problem with the right speaker.    Is this a flaw with this product?  At this price I would have expected them to be problem free for more than 4-5 months.  I am very disappointed.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if this is to be expected.  Thanks.

Apple does not provide service support for the headsets since they are not Apple-branded.
Best advice is to contact the manufacturer for service support.

  • IBook G4 Right Speaker Noise

I recently started hearing a noise on my iBook G4(sporadically) coming from the right speaker. It soundslike a crumpling noise like crumpling paper sort of. I am not listening to any music and the noise happens whether the speakers are on or muted because when I heard the noise and the speakers where on I muted it and the noise continued. This usually happens after it has been running a while but I have also noticed it at startup after the computer has been turned off all night. Resetting the PMU seems to make it stop for a while but only for a day or so. Has anyone else had this problem or heard about it and if so what was the fix.
Additonally I only noticed this after upgrading to 10.4.6 but when I did a reformat to 10.4.4 it continued.
    Thanks

  • Hissing sound from right speaker

I've read through the threads about processor and hard disk hiss. I don't think this is that same issue. When I boot under AC or battery, I get a 5 second hissing from the right speaker. As soon as the desktop comes up, the hissing stops. If I am on AC, that's the last time I hear it, but on battery, I get the hissing noise any time something makes a sound (Adium, iTunes playing an MP3 or a CD, etc.) Is this a driver problem or hardware?

I called SmallDog tech support; John had me do a PRAM reset, as well as a power management reset (remove battery and AC, hold down power button for 10 seconds.) Problem remains. Booted to XP, hiss came up during XP logo, but now it won't boot to Windows (might have something to do with the reset.) Told me to remove the additional RAM I had added when I bought it, still hisses on boot. Next step I guess is taking it to SmallDog for repair.

  • Nokia 5530 RM-504 Strange Problem

    Hi All,
I have Nokia 5530 RM-504 strange problem after flash latest version 31.0.005 two problems create
    1)                  Before flashing Pakistan GMT+5 but after flash Pakistan GMT+6
    2)                  Before flashing sending MMS work fine but after flash when I send MMS 1 time but set sending auto mms same cell no. after 30 sec.
Any idea how to solve those problems.

Hey the problem isn't with the phone i don't think.
I had the same issues with the sound quality and and pushing the button making the sound the good.
Its because there is a diference in the design of theheadset jack/phone plughole.
the wierd sound is a result of the ground and mic wires going to the wrong places. you can cut the plug then re solder the wires back together but switch the mic and ground wires around then it will work fine on something that it wasnt working properly on, but it will stop it working normaly on anything that it curently works on

  • Mbp 3,1 right speaker blew out, not waking up

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro 3,1 running OS X 10.8.5 (12F45).  A couple weeks ago, I heard the right speaker pop, and stop working.
Since the speaker went out, my machine won't wake up after I close it.  It seems to heat up and the fans run constantly even after I've closed it.  When I open it up again, I don't get a password prompt or anything--the fans just keep spinning, and eventually I just have to hold in the power button to shut it off, then restart.
I've also noticed that the battery now runs out of juice really quickly--perhaps 20 minutes after a full charge.  The Battery Health program doesn't indicate anything unusual:
I've had the machine for about 20 months.  I've replaced the original battery with a cheap version off Amazon, and replaced the right internal fan about two months ago.  I've looked up how to replace the speaker assembly and I'm getting the tools and parts to do that.
I know I have to replace the speaker.  My question is: what's causing all this?  Is it the speaker going out that led to these other issues, or is there another issue that cause the speaker to go out and is the root of the problem?  I've zapped the PRAM and reset the SMC, but that didn't change anything.
Thanks in advance for any response!  Let me know if more info is needed.

You have one of the MBP with the NVIDIA defect unforunately (GeForce 8600M GT).
The scrabled screens are the GPU overheating and failing.
Apple had a repair program that has now ended.

You can still try making a genius bar apointment and asking about a flat rate repair or take it to an authorized Apple service provider.

  • Right speaker no longer works?

Hey everyone. So the right speaker on my Macbook Pro just stopped working properly. When I go into the system preferences > sound > output and try to just have it come out of the right speaker (instead of having it balanced between the 2), it comes out really quiet and with this weird echoing/tinging sound. Any advice? There hasn't been any damage or injury to the computer... Thanks!

Without knowing exactly what is wrong, hard to tell if MBP is worth getting fixed. An Apple Store will diagnosis the problem for free. Ask them how much the repairs will be. Once you find out what the problem is, call an AASP & ask about the cost of repairs. May be cheaper than an Apple Store.

  • Nokia Stereo Headset WH-205 buttons not working in...

I couldn't get Nokia Stereo Headset WH-205 buttons working in Music player.
Anyone know how to enable the buttons on the headset. I want to use the play/stop/FW/BW buttons on the headset
    Many thanks again

You'll be thoroughly thrilled to know that the N900 does not support complex headsets..
I have a pair of BH905 nokia headphones, frequently shown in official N900 videos being used with a cable..
Unfortunately when plugged into the phone using the cable, the buttons do not work.. in fact I don't believe you can use it has a headset via the cable..
Via bluetooth however, they work marginally better (the headphones crash)
Apparently headset support was removed in favor of TV out.. so head sets with multiple buttons just don't work..
I believe the only headsets that actually work as expected are the ones that ship with the n900..
I must admit, for all its faults, this was the one thing that irritated me most about this incredible media rich by peripheral crippled phone!
    Bad luck, I'm afraid!
