My Old iPod Classic Is Making Me Take Tests?
It Says Accessorize Test At The Top And Tells Me To Plug In Fw. What Is Fw?
FW stands for FireWire. As to why or how you can up across this screen I have no idea. These are supposed to be hidden diagnostics tests for your iPod to help determine possible hardware failures.
If you want to exit this screen, you'll need to perform a hard reset of your iPod. To do this, first make sure the hold switch is not in the On position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

I have an old iPod Classic. It still plays the music on it out of either port. It is having trouble connecting to my Windows 7 (64bit) computer. It takes about 30 seconds or more to connect and hangs the computer until it does. Even though it shows up in connected USB devices and in Windows explorer it doesn't seem right. Sometimes it does not make a connection and when it does make a connection iTunes cannot detect it, even though iTunes sometimes automatically launches when I plug in the iPod. I've tried two different sets of cables with the same results.

I found an old iPod classic of mine that is synced to a computer that is long gone. I want to get the music and photos from this old iPod onto my new computer. Every time I hook the iPod up to my new computer it wants to delete what is on the iPod and replace with the contents of the iTunes that is currently on the new computer. I don't want to do that. I want to keep what is on the old iPod and transfer it to iTunes. Any help? Thanks!

I have a iPad were I have opened I tunes match ect linked to my pc I have since found my old ipod classic which I have loads of music on but that was all linked to a mac which I don't have anymore, is there anyway I can sync them both without loosing my music, if I plug my ipod into PC it won't read it
You need to transfer the music from your iPod on to your iTunes library on your PC, since that is where you are currently syncing and where you are signed into iTunes Match. It doesn't matter that you were previously syncing it with a Mac, and you won't need to reinstall iTunes on your PC. But you will have to use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer any music not purchased from the iTunes store from your iPod to your iTunes library. Here's another guide on this, which is shoter and you may find easier to follow: Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive. Also, if you're using iTunes 11, go to View>Show Sidebar. This will make it easier to follow along with these guides.

My old ipod classic will charge when I plug it it in but my computer will no longer recognize that it is plugged in and Itunes will not pop up. Is it time to retire this 5 year old classic?
Hello, a.higgins.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps in the article below that I would recommend going through.

I have an old iPod Classic with 80 GB (I think) of space. I saved all my songs in an external hard drive, but the iTunes library resided in an old computer (no longer working). Can I get the library from my iPod and use it in my new computer (Windows)?
You might want to check your process for moving your iTunes music against this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.

How can I transfer the music in my old Ipod classic to a new Ipod (not only the Itunes purchases)?
You'll need to copy the music from the old iPod back to iTunes first before you can transfer it to your new iPod. See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

Is there a bluetooth adapter for an old iPod classic (160 GB) that also works like a radio remote? I have a bluetooth headset and I want to listen to FM radio on my iPod.
Or is there a better way than to use an adapter in order to listen to the radio on an iPod with a bluetooth headset?
TIA!Have you updated your iPod and iTunes sofware?
most cases, iTunes can play these high quality songs, which is meant for newer mobile devices like iPhones, iPod Touch, nano and iPad, which the older iPod cant play, but only playable with iPod classic sofware version 2.0.4
most likely it is an incompatible song format, read this Apple support article.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1334?viewlocale=en_USet
If your iPod software is version 1.1.2, then you have to use lower quality format.
Can you select the problematic song, and Advance -> create iPod version -

I have an old iPod classic that iTunes cannot find, I can't even restore it!?
I have an old iPod Classic that iTunes cannot "find" even though it shows it. I can't even restore it. Works fine except can't synch with iTunes to add new music!?
We (Appple techs) tried disk mode and that didn't work. At times the iPod would even "show" itself in iTunes and iTunes would say it was synching but when you looked at the iPod you could tell it wasn't ( it just said do not disconnect) and after 10 to 40 minutes later iTunes would say can't find iPod. We would then have to force quit iTunes because it was hung up and then just disconnect the iPod. The iPod works fine with headphones or a docking station, just can't add (or subtract) anything to it. It completely mystified all the techs in the store and all "senior" advisors on the phone- and that was about 4.5 hours getting tossed to one "expert" or another! Ah well, indeed stranger than life.

I had an old iPod classic 40 gb, now it doesn't work anymore; have to add another one (iPod classic 60 gb) to my iTunes (windows XP), which is the right procedure?
Plug it in and follow the onscreen directions. That you previously had an iPod doesn't matter.

My 5 year old iPod classic will not play on my Yamaha CRX-332 cd receiver but my 3 year old iPhone 3g will. Any suggestions to get my iPod to read the receiver or get the receiver to read the iPod? The receiver should be able to play the iPod with a USB connection or with the iPod dock. Neither works with my iPod however both work with my iPhone 3g. The iPod has the latest software. Any thoughts?
If it is a 5-year old iPod, there is the possibility that the receiver simply won't work with the older software (there hasn't been an iPod Classic software update in years). You might try contacting Yamaha support (or doing a google search) to see if it is a known issue. One solution (probably the easiest) is to get a cable that connects a min jack (i.e., a headphone jack) to stereo cables, and just connect the iPod up that way. You eliminate the risk of corrupting the iPod, and it is a solution that should always work. Just use a wall charger to power the iPod.
