My phone is saying No SIM card installed, when I clearly have my SIM inserted. I can't make or receive calls. What can I do to fix this?
Did you already try to remove it and put it back again?
When changing the SIM card, power off the device prior to opening the SIM tray. After you have changed the SIM card for your iPhone you may need to reconnect it to iTunes.
iPhone keeps a record of previously inserted SIM cards, but if the carrier name of your SIM does not show up in the status bar after you changed the SIM you will need to reconnect iPhone to iTunes. If you do not connect iPhone to iTunes after changing or reinserting the SIM, iPhone may not work as expected.
If iPhone does not work with the SIM card after connecting to iTunes, you might need to restore your iPhone. Consult the iPhone User's Guide for more information on iTunes and iPhone.

The CDMA iPhone 4 does not use a SIM at all. There is no SIM slot. It is a pure CDMA phone. -

You can try to restart the iPhone to exit recovery mode.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.

i updated my i pad with ease then updated my i phone and now apple does not recognise the i phone and then says there is no sim in the phone when there is one installed, can anyone help

So you have not changed anything or updated
try reseating the sim (assume it is a microsim not a hand cut )
and go through Apple troubleshooting

Hi All - my macbook pro - which I recently updated to Mavericks, says my iPhoto is installing - when it clearly isn't. I can't access my photos. Can anyone please help?
ThanksI tried that - it didn't work.
But what I noticed is that in the App store - if I look under 'Purchased' it shows that iPhoto's installation was 'Paused'. But when I clicked to restart downloading, it just says 'Waiting' - but goes no further.
Would another download of the Operating System help? -

Jailbroken phones can not be discussed here.
It's highly likely that it is now bricked. The jailbreak most likely did permanent damage. There are lots of reports of previously jailbroken/hacked phones that become unusable when attempting to apply a legitimate unlock. -
I have a new IPhone 6 just went to the store last Saturday to connect it, (I am replacing my IPhone 5s) it says that I am updated on IOS 8.0.2 but now started to show a message that reads like this: " No SIM card installed" and I have no phone line or anything, my carrier is Sprint and I just got back from there and they told me that this is something I have to deal with APPLE because they have nothing to do with software. Anybody experiencing the same thing? any light in the tunnel? HELP....

To troubleshoot this issue where your iPhone gives you the message "No SIM Card installed" please follow the steps below.
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Turn airplane mode on and then off again.
Restart your iPhone.
Check for a carrier settings update. Go to Settings > General > About. Install any available update.
Remove the SIM card and make sure that it's a valid SIM that your carrier provided. Also make sure that it's not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
A SIM tray that comes with one iPhone model won't necessarily work with a different iPhone model. When you insert the correct SIM tray, the SIM tray should be flush with the device.
If you have another SIM card, insert it. You can use a SIM card from any phone with the same format as your iPhone SIM card. If your iPhone works with that SIM card, contact the carrier that issued your original SIM card.
Restore the iPhone.
If you still see the issue, contact Apple support.

I have recently upgraded from the iPhone 3g to an iPhone 4, and I was going to give my 3g to a friend, but it comes up with the message as above, whenever the phone is turned on...
There is a sim card installed...
My carrier (virgin) say that they have unlocked the phone from optus.
How do I fix this?

AnushkaVirgin use the Optus network here in Australia - which is why, the 3G phones showed you connected to the Optus network, and not to the Virgin network...They don't have their own network, they piggyback on Optus - which is why it would show that it is locked to Optus!
They also said they would unlock my iPhone 4 - which has been done! So there's obviously something wrong with the phone... -

But........I start the ohone up now....it wants me to pick language and then country which I do....then it says there is no Sim card installed ....say what?.....its been in there for 4 years......whats up with this.....does Apple have a cure for this?
I have removed it a few times and reinstalled it....same thingMost likely your phone was previously hacked to carrier unlock. When you updated, the hack was removed and the phone re-locked to its original carrier. It will now operate only with a SIM card from that carrier.

Same exact thing happened to me, I restarted my
Phone and it didn't work, I took my girlfriends earing and took out the SIM card slot and put it back in, and wham it worked. Hope this helps -
ITunes say's there is no sim card installed
I've had the iphone 3 for a while. I plugged it into the computer to update it, and when I unplugged it from the computer, it restarted. I tried to activate it without itunes, but it tells me to connecting to itunes to activate it. When I plugged it in to itunes, it say's there is no sim card installed. I ejected the phone, took out the sim card, put it back in and plugged it back in. Nothing changed. How do I get it to work again?
