MY program runs a watlow F4 controller that runs and eviromental chamber

Hello!
So my program is suppose to run an enviromental chamber through rs485 serial to usb converter. it should ramp to 25 C then go to -40 C and hold for 30mins, next it ramps to 90 c and holds for 30 mins. It should go through these cycles 200 times and end. right now it goes all the way to 90 and holds fine, but instead of ramping back to -40c it tres to ramp to 90 and hold continuosly. Can anyone help? program below.

Sounds like something in your decision logic is off. It might be helpful to read up on state machine architecture in LabVIEW. I think switching software architectures will help clean up your code and allow you to debug much faster.

A Java program that runs automatically at a given time of day

Okay Iam at the ending stages of a Java Assignment that is a MySql database, Hibernate for Mapping with a Java Server Faces front-end. All I need to do now is send emails at set time every week. Normally I know what to search for but frankly Iam stumped. Iam really just looking for a starting point for something that can run a Java Program at a set time of the week. PS my OS is Ubuntu if that is relevant but I was hoping for something that isn't platform specific so that it is portable.

You can use the possibilities of your operating system, in this case Ubuntu.
Just drop a shell script that runs your java program in the /etc/cron.weekly directory.

I have a program that runs in Java Console. I need to run multiple copies of the program. I can't do this with tabs. Can I do it with separate windows/processes

The program in question was implemented as a Java applet that runs in a browser. The developer says it must run under the Java Console and that I cannot run more than one copy of it in a given browser technology (e.g., Firefox); but I can run multiple copies if I use, eg, Firefox for one, IE 32 bit for another, Chrome for a 3rd and IE 64 bit for a 4th. I have tested this, and this does work.
Why would it not be the case if I spawned a completely different Firefox instance/process? When asked this question, the developer said, no, you have to run a different browser implementation to get a distinct Java Console for each one.
Does this make sense in general, or, more importantly, is it true for Firefox?

It is working for me if I open a second Firefox instance with its own profile by starting Firefox with the -no-remote command line switch.

When trying to install iTunes I get an error saying "a program needed to install itunes cannot be run". Any ideas what that program is?

My computer would not let me update my version of itunes so I was advised to uninstall and start fresh. I still get the same error..."a program needed to complete the installation cannot run". Can any one tell me what program they are referring to or if anyone has a fix for this?

There's a lot of background processes running that aren't documented as Apps as such. And some of them are the Time Machine backups, Spotlight searches, all kinds of small little bits of maintenance caches, there's a lot going on. So it's not completely out of the question that this is 'normal' for a Mac. If it were 50% or more I would be concerned but if it spikes up to 20% for a second or two you are probably not in any trouble of any kind.

log in as administrator and kill all processes not needed and try again. I've seen cases where one of these free download tweak applications (like "Memory Defragmentation" and stuff like that) caused that error.

for ex. tomcat runs on 8080 port as deamon or service.
is it socket programming? if yes please give me a simple program which runs on a specific port.

The problem was that I kept getting the black screen of death, once while using Photoshop, the next 3 or 4 times on start-up, I couldn't keep the computer running. Starting it up with the install disk worked, and it seems to be more stable now, however, I haven't really done much in Photoshop since.
I know that Photoshop, especially when I use the Transform tool, will crash a lot, and often enough take the whole system down with it. But it usually works again on restart.
The test comes when I have another batch of photos to process. Unfortunately, business is a bit slow right now, so I don't have anything coming up soon.
Does Onyx do about the same job as Disk Utility? Is it any better? Or just have different options? I did download that one too, and the disk appears to be fine now.

In order to password protect files or folders, you need to create an encrypted disk image. Then what ever is copied to the disk image will be protected.

Monitoring a Watlow F4 Controller

Hey Everyone,
I have an ESPEC humidity chamber that uses a Watlow F4 controller. I am using this to run environmental tests on a device. Ideally I want to monitor the conditions inside the chamber and my device in the same VI. So far I have been having trouble communicating with the chamber using labview. It is using a serial port on the chamber and a serial to USB converter on the PC side. I have created a small Vi that will just act as a chamber monitor for me. I have attached the monitor VI below. It doesn't sense the chamber at all and give me the set points or current conditions. Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated!

each week regarding RS-232 communication issues. There are several
issues which must be addressed in order to communicate successfully
with the chamber. With thousands of chambers in the field, we have
never had a verified case of a bad serial interface in the controller.
Below are several of the most common communication issues.
Are you
using the correct cable?
The DB-9 connector is wired to accommodate a null-modem cable. A null-modem
cable has pins 2 and 3 swapped on each end. You CANNOT use a straight
through cable.
Is the baud
rate set correctly?
All TestEquity chambers
shipped since mid-2003 have the baud rate set at 9600. Older chambers
have the baud rate set at 19200. The baud rate of the controller MUST
match the baud rate in your communications program. The baud rate is
changed in the controller's Go to Setup\Communications menu. You may
require a password to enter the Setup menu. If so, call TestEquity to
get the password.
Does your
software communicate using the Modbus RTU protocol?
To communicate with
the controller from a PC, you need to run software that uses the Modbus
RTU protocol. You CANNOT use Hyperterminal.
Modbus Registers
Each controller
function has a "register" number which can be read or written to (when
applicable). These registers are listed Chapter Seven of the Series
F4 User's Manual (pdf, 4M) .
Common Modbus
Registers
The actual chamber
temperature reading is Modbus register 100 (Input 1 Value).
The static temperature
set point is Modbus register 300 (Set Point 1).
The temperature
set point during a profile is Modbus register 4122 (Set Point 1,
Current Profile Status).
The decimal points
are implied. For example, 1005 is actually 100.5 and -230 is -23.0.
The Digital Output
1 (Event 1) function is Modbus register is 2000
It appears that I can't use Hyperterminal for testing with the F4.
Since is says that I cannont use a straight through cable I wired up a quick cross over adapter ( http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/1EE0DD8AF67922FA86256F720071DECF?opendocument&Submitted&&... ) and tried it. I am getting error codes for function in MAX now. Do you guys know if the F4 requires Handshaking? I didn't wire that into the adapter, just pins 2, 3 & 5.

I run Windows 7 and the newest version (10.6) of iTunes will not install. The installer won't even begin, and when I run the Apple Software update, it tells me that iCloud and iTunes have invalid signature.

When I DL iTunes64setup.exe, the program will not start (there's a bar that flashes but nothing actually begins). I've done everything short of reinstalling Windows to fix this (system resore, unistalling all Apple products, taking down firewall, running Windows FixIt - which either won't find the problem or gives me an error saying that the troubleshooter cannot be downloaded at this time, going into the security features to allow programs without valid signatures, trying to install earlier versions of iTunes). It all started when I downloaded the Decemberists new album on my iPhone, and it wasn't downloading it properly so I connected it to my Dell, but some songs still wouldn't DL - also, the newest OS for my iPhone still won't install via WiFi - and so I uninstalled iTunes first, but nothing is helping. And I don't have any security issues (Norton has checked). Any ideas? I'm at my wit's end after 3 days of this. Thank you.

Ok, so after like 4 days of going through all these different issues, I figured out that several programs weren't downloading, and it was an issue with my wireless connectivity messing up the digital signatures, so if you plug in your comp to the modem and delete your temp files, it should start to work!

I have an IMAC that runs OS 10.6.7. I use Netgear for wireless. My computer keeps losing the network, so I can't use wireless.

Recently, my desktop computer shows that it is searching for the wireless system (on the router). I contacted Netgear. They talked me into buying another router and their technical contract. Nothing is working. I can plug my 5200 modem directly up to my desktop , and the network is fine, but the wireless, of course, is not plugged in. When I go to connect the wireless, it doesn't work. This is not a computer program per se, nor is it a router program because sometimes it will work. It seems to me that the computer and router are not working together to hold the settings.
I have attempted to download the latest software for my computer, i.e., Imac graphics fireware. Each time I try, it says that the extensions are not valid for my computer.
Any suggestions?

Did you mean to say firmware? You should only install firmware updates when offered to you via Software Update; other than that, whatever is offered is not appropriate for your model.
As for your Netgear router - I have a Netgear and set it up manually on their web interface setup site (the address should be in your manual). Did you call your ISP so they will recognize that there is a router involved? Sometimes my iMac also does not want to communicate with the router; however, my Macbook and printer have no problem. I solved the problem by connecting things this way:
cable from wall to modem > cable from modem to router > cable from router to iMac. The other things are wireless.
