My purchased item wont download

I pre-ordered an album. Even though I hadn't paid, it greyed out to "Purchased".
But it would not download. So, I cancelled pre-order, and bought again. It has greyed out to "purchased" again, but doesn't give option to download it.

I would be eager to download and listen to a pre-ordered album as well. I found a couple of resources that might help with downloading this purchase.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted. You can use the steps in this article:

If the album does not download after following the steps in that article, I recommend trying to download the album from the list of past purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the album, you will not be charged again. How do i stop previously purchased items from downloading repeatedly?

My wife has an Intel Macbook. Whenever she opens iTunes it immediately starts to download her previous purchases, video and audio, equalling some 200+ files. I've tried allowing the files to download, then deleting them and stopping the downloads before they can seriously get going but no matter what I do they start downloading again either later in that session or the next time she starts iTunes. This has happened with the previous two or three versions of iTunes and continues with the current version.
These are all files she's seen/heard and has no intention of ever accessing again. Is there some way to permanently delete them so that we don't have to keep dealing with this issue?
Any assistance would be appreciated.

It turns out that this is not an uncommon problem. After a lot of searching on the net I came across these two solutions. In both you have to allow the entire song, video, etc. to download. Once the download is complete DO NOT sync your device, instead mark every one of the unwanted items as Read or Watched. Now sync your device (the files should not be copied to it) and go back to iTunes to see if the file is automatically deleted (as far as I know this only happens with podcasts). If the file is deleted your problem should be solved but if not select the file(s), hit Command + delete and choose the move to trash option for the file(s).
Restart iTunes and check to see if the same file is downloading again. If not, you should be okay but if it is then you're trying the second method.
Allow the file to download and do everything as in the first method except when it comes to deleting the file(s) navigate to your iTunes folder where the file is stored and physically delete it from there. Restart iTunes and see what happens.
I can't really speak for how well the second method works as the first method worked for me but I wanted to give both options in case it didn't work for someone else.

Purchased song wont download onto phone?

I purchased a song a few days ago and it comes up "Unable to Download Song." over and over.
I have tried restarting my phone, exiting the app, everything.
I have bought songs after I bought that song and they downloaded perfectly, but that one song will not.
Any help?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not downloading properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

HT1391 Purchased items - icloud downloads to hard drive

I have a new MacBook Air and have just purchased my first movie since having this Mac. The purchase has gone to icloud only it seems and I can't find how to download it to my itunes library on my hard drive. Have tried "check for available downloads" in the store menu but this just keeps listing the film over and over again in the purchased playlist and they are all 'greyed' out. I can play the movie on my Mac and on my apple TV via icloud but would rather have it on my hard drive. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or how I need to set this up so that all purchases go to my itunes library on my hard drive?

HT1933 My purchased books wont download from the icloud.

I've been having this issue for a while now, but today it just sits there in the middle of a download and won't finish. Why is this happening, and what can I do to get my books to download?

Strangely enough the next day i tried check for purchases again and got through the song that kept getting stuck the day before and the album fully downloaded. The only thing that i have done that might have corrected this problem was turn off my computer then turned it on the next day and did not run any other program while it was downloading, even browsing. so try turning off your computer and turning back on then check for purchases without doing ne thing else.
PS: thanks for letting me know that other people are having this problem as well.

Apps purchase but wont download

I Purchased an app called bloons tower defense 5 and it charged me the $5 plus tax but it didnt download, i saw if i could download it from the cloud, but in the store it says i have to make the $5 dollar purchase again. Whats going on???
Also when choosing my device in the bottom, there is no ipad mini somi had to choose ipad 2.

I have a problem with purchasing songs on my ipod touch. i purchased a song and it wouldnt start downloading so i paused it and tried it again and still nothing i did this a couple times then i paised it and resaryed it by holding the sleep and main button now its making me re-purchase the song i already paid for. what can i do this is the an inconvinience for me and a waste of money!

You should have received a email receipt for the purchase. That receipt should say (mine show a link) of how to report problems.

My iphone tells me that i have to re-buy purchased items that i used to have on my iphone. The problem is that i want to download purchased items i downloaded in the past but it says for me to repay for it and so i dont know if i was ripped off or not. the cause of this problem was that my iphone synced to another iphone from itunes and got everything from the other iphone and i lost all my music and contacts. Thus, i tried to redownload all my music back on and it wouldn't let me from the itunes store. is ther a solution to this problem?

Can you download anything at all? New songs, new apps?
Try the basics.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button..
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.
If none of that works - You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If you still can't download from the purchase tab, I think it's time to restore.

I had the same problem so (assuming under the Purchased items in the Store you have a song stuck at 'Downloading'):
I went to Music, then Artists.
From there I chose the album.
The song that failed to download had the cloud symbol next to it.
I clicked the cloud symbol and the song completed the download for me.
(Please note this was in iTunes for Windows - I expect it to be similar in iTunes for Apple)

Answer: Return the CD.
Or did you mean this was an album you bought from iTunes, in which case it really isn't a "CD" (which is a hard, plastic, shiny disc) and I'm at risk of getting confused. If it is a corrupt file that you downloaded, delete the file and try downloading it again.
