My Rotated Images Do Not Save.

I just processed my entire photography collection with Bridge. I rotated many of the photos. But now, as I'm looking at the folders in Windows Explorer, I notice that none of the images appear as being rotated.
After reading the product support for rotating images in Bridge: "Rotating does not affect the image data; however, rotating an image in Adobe Bridge may rotate the image view in the native application as well."
This is bad. Very bad. I do not want to go through ALL of my photos again and re-rotate them in another app. Is there any way for the rotations I made in Bridge to be saved to the image data?

This is from Adobe: Although Bridge allows you to quickly and easily rotate images, the rotation doesn't really happen until you open the file up in a graphics application such as Adobe Photoshop® or Adobe Illustrator® and save it in it's rotated state. So if you rotated an image in Bridge and then dragged it into Adobe InDesign®, it would appear with its original orientation.
So with the above in mind seems like you can use the Image Processor in Bridge to open images in PhotoShop then save it. It should be then rotated. Since you are not adding anything the non-rotated images would remain unrotated so you don't have to know which ones were rotated and which ones were not.
Or am I out to lunch?

Rotating images is not working

I encountered a somewhat strange behavior with iPhoto regarding image rotation. Whenever I import images into iPhoto I have the need to rotate some of them (landscape --> portrait). While it works for most of the images it does not for some of them. The preview pane shows the images with the proper orientation but if I switch to slideshow it will only show them in landscape mode. This is pretty annoying. Sometimes this can be corrected if I quit iPhoto after rotating these photos and before starting a slideshow. It does not matter whether I created a new album or not.
Any help solving this problem is greatly appreciated.

If the test library doesn't work either then it's either the application or something in your account. To check out the latter log into another user account on your Mac and try rotating there. If it doesn't work as it should it's an application issue and reinstallation is warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came on and apply the latest updaters.
It you can rotate correctly in the other account then there's something in your primary account that's the culprit. It could be a preference file other than iPhoto's that causing the problem. To check it out try the following:

1 - close all applications.
2 - open your Library folder, Home/Library, and drag the Preferences folder to the Desktop. A new Preference folder will be immediately created in the Library.
3 - run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
4 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button.

5 - If the problem is NOT fixed, drag the Preferencess folder on the Desktop into the Library to replace the new one that was created.
Oh, before doing anything try deleting the iPhoto cache file that's located in the User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder. Then try again. Forgot to suggest that earlier.

Photo/Images will not save in address book. Please help

I am on a macbook 13 aluminum running 10.5.8 and when I try to add an image to a contact in my address book it does not work. I can select one or drag one onto the image icon and it will show the crop image box, but when I click SET, it does not work. Once set is pushed it just closes the image box and returns to the contacts information with no image on the card. HOWEVER it DOES work on my own owner contact card (either using the built in camera or dragging an image - the one with the little person next to it. Please help.
ALSO, does anyone have any suggestion on the best method to have attached images of business cards associated with the contact? Obviously once I get these images working in the first place. Thank you

After fixing the filesystem issues, which you say you’ve already done, try re-creating the Address Book files that may have become corrupt, one at a time, as follows — or restore them from a backup if you have one:
1. Quit Address Book, Mail, and any other applications that might use Address Book for something. Or just quit all applications to be on the safe side.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/. Make a backup copy of this folder, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your contacts are stored.
3. Go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Move com.apple.AddressBook.plist and com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist (if it exists) out of there (e.g. to the Desktop). Check whether the problem is fixed.
4. If Address Book keeps crashing, go to ~/Library/Caches/ and move the Address Book and com.apple.AddressBook folders to the Trash (there is no need to empty the Trash yet). Check whether the problem is fixed.
5. If Address Book keeps crashing, go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ and trash any ABPerson.skIndex files you may see there. Check whether the problem is fixed.
6. If Address Book keeps crashing, try again trashing both AddressBook.data and any ABPerson.skIndex files that may have been re-created, then rename AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data.
7. If Address Book keeps crashing, try moving the entire AddressBook folder out of ~/Library/Application Support/.
The above procedure may introduce synchronization issues if you use .Mac or iSync to synchronize your Address Book with other computers or devices, so be sure to back up your Address Book data now if the problem is fixed.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

Rotating an image does not rotate the canvas

When I use "rotate image" from the IMAQ library the pixels are rotated, but the image size( in respect to X and Y size) remains the same. If you start out with an image where X and Y are very different you end up with an image where lots of pixels are clipped and lots are black.
Is there a way to "rotate" the X and Y outline together with the image, short of converting to a 2-D pixel array and rotate that one?

unfortunately, the picture control cannot be rotated, so far as I have ever seen. You will probably need to do this within the picture control itself. I would suggest just enlarging the control and centering the image. Fill in the rest of the image with black so that you don't have to worry about the background (or use white and figure out how to backfill with white.)
I know it sounds difficult, but it is your only choice. Even the opsys to do this would perform the same operation. Its just not done for you yet.
Perhaps someone out there knows a shortcut. If so, it will save you some time, and I will learn something as well.

I would appreciate if any of you know how to do, so that the text displayed, including the characters I use in my language (Spanish), such as á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ, and other special characters.
In fact, I could not find a way to do it, because I'm not expert Flash, and less in ActionScript.

Please share with me simple example of what goes wrong and explain which things should happen on that specific Front Panel.
This will allow me to help you and also allow me to guide you along the right path.

Photo/Edit-In CS6. psd image does not show in LR after save/close.

Whenever I edit (a copy) of an image in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 4.3 (Photo/Edit-In), after I save and close the image in CS6 the new psd image does not show in Lightroom. In order to see the image in Lightroom, I need to close Lightroom and then reopen Lightroom. It is almost like Lightroom needs to "refresh". Does anyone have a solution that does not require me to close Lightroom? I have tried to use View/Sort by extension, filename, edit time, etc. with no effect.

This should not be so. I'm assuming that you do a <save> in CS6 - as opposed to <save as>. Only with <save> the image file will automatically be imported in Lr while <save as> creates a new file that Lr "knows" nothing about until you import it (for instance via "Synchronize folder").
If the behavior you describe follows a <save> in CS6 it is not normal.
This could be due to a corrupt Preference File. This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
BTW: Re-installing Lr does not replace the Pref. File since it is designed to "survive" upgrades.

Image Capture does not save a scanned file

Image Capture using an HP Photosmart C3180 to scan a document does so but does not save the file to the Desktop.
A pop-up windows displays Scan Results but still not file
O/S Lion, Image Capture Version 6.1 (440).

As for the scanner - so is this new one wireless? When I hooked up my Epson All-in-One, I had to install it via USB first before I could install the wireless (per their instructions). With Snow Leopard, I simply installed the driver and it covered and recognized both the print and scan function - not so in Lion; I had to go through hoops with the scanner part and it finally showed up as a separate unit. I thought that is silly, but - as long as it works..... I'm trying to think of possibilities since I'm about out of ideas, so you might want to consider that (if it applies). The other troubleshooting suggestions usually include redoing the "add" function after a reboot.
As for Image Capture, I am out of ideas. FWIW, I never use it - in my workflow, there is no need for it. Not sure if this would have an impact, but make sure that you choose Image Capture in the CDs&DVDs Preference Pane (mine is set to ignore or ask purposely):
If that does not work, I'd suggest reinstalling the OS over the top of what you have.

Multiple Image Upload with save to database not working in IE anymore

Since updating IE to SP3 ADDT Multiple Image Upload with save to database does not work anymore in IE. It will show a regular file upload field, an does not allow selection of multiple files. It does work in Firefox, but not all my clients use firefox.
PSE Advice.

Photoshop CS3 will not auto-rotate images...

After loading CS3 on my new MacBook Pro (3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo), Photoshop does not auto rotate images?
The finder rotates them...Bridge rotates them...Expression Media2 rotates them.....Photoshop does not
Obviously the camera, Nikon D2x, is set to tag vertical images for rotation. What gives? I can't find any sort of setting in PS for auto rotate.
It worked on my old laptop and on an old EMac.

It is a waste of my time to have to do this after every photo shoot. Photoshop and many other programs do this automatically. There has to be a reason for it not working on my new laptop. I even uninstalled and reinstalled CS3.

I am using CS6 and when I go to save an image for Web the image does not retain its quality. The first week I did this it worked just fine and now the images save very pixely.

Change None to Art optimized then click apply(alteast in CS5 there was an apply, believe they removed that in CS6 as so many people missed that part).

Thanks Terence. What a relief. I still don't understand what the book I read was talking about then. Here's a quote from the section I was referring to in "iPhoto 08: The Missing Manual" book, p 91 (ISBN: 0596-516185):

That's fine if you plan to order prints or a photo book (Chapter 11) from iPhoto, since JPEG files are required for those purposes. But if you took that once-in-a-lifetime, priceless shot as a TIFF file, don't do any editing in iPhoto-don't even rotate it- if you hope to maintain its perfect, pristine quality."
After my test results, I thought maybe this was something that had changed from iPhoto 08 to iPhoto 09, so I went to the bookstore yesterday and checked the same book for iPhoto 09, and there it was, the same quote! (on a different page, of course).

Keynote will not save imported images

i've NEVER had a problem with Keynote in the 8 years that I have been using it. Now, it will not save my imported images. I'm getting the equivalent of the RED X in PPT. Does anyone know why this is happening? I'd reinstall, but I no longer have disks...

There are two options, try option 1 first if that does not work use option 2:
1 - a custom repair for Keynote 6.1
Try this repair for iWork applications, its sorted out many similar problems in the past
ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1 delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using Appcleaner from Mac Update to      do this, its freeware
2 restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
         let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and      click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Save Panel Image / Screen Image does not work as an Executable

The Save Panel Image / Screen Image does not work as an Executable. It looks like there is a conflict with the Path, since the Screen_Image.exe is launched as Screen_Image.vi. I've tried this function both ways with the path name change Screen_Image.exe AND Screen_Image.vi.

Any chance you might be able to post some code illustrating what you are talking about?

Why can I not save images?

starting today, I can no longer download images with the save image as option. Most of the time, save image as, is not an option in the list. Most of the time there is a really long menu when i right click on an image. Something is stopping me from downloading images. I believe the problem is with Firefox because, I can still download pictures in the IE browser. Any idea what may have changed and why? I need to download images for my work. I am in so much trouble right now because, I can't get my work done.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
