My screen in my MacBook Pro is broken... I was told I could run it through a different monitor?? No luck so far

When I ran a DVI cable from my broken
MacBook Pro to an Acer monitor, my screen saver
Came up, but without any dock icons... So there
Is nothing I can click on to... Any ideas??
Thanks!!!!

Did you have the screen open on your MBP when you connected the external monitor?  If so, then it probably defaulted to use it to extend your existing desktop.  If you close teh screen and work in "clamshell" mode, then it should see the external monitor as the only onitor and display everything there.  You would need an external keyboard & mouse attached for that to work properly though.

Screen sharing setup in 10.5, 10.6 are described by the links by operating system.  10.7 is fairly similar to 10.6.
And if both Macs have Firewire, you can setup a Firewire over IP network for fast communication between machines.  Note if you have two different Firewire ports a 6 pin to 9 pin Firewire cable does exist.  There are no Firewire to USB cables.

  • How do I get Elements to occupy full screen on my macbook pro? - the docking station remains visible and I don't want to have the dock in hide mode?

How do I get Elements to occupy full screen on my macbook pro? - the docking station remains visible and I don't want to have the dock in hide mode?

Unfortunately, there is no answer to this problem via this link. It may be that this is simply how the software actually works. It is a design fault in Adobe Photoshop Elements. It is possible to temporarily hide the dock within 'system preferences'. Oh well. Someone may know better.... I hope!

  • I have a very tiny, fuzzy black speck on the screen of my Macbook Pro 15".

I have a very tiny, fuzzy black speck on the screen of my Macbook Pro 15". It doesn't resemble dead pixels I've encountered in the past (it is only visible behind a white or brightly colored background), and I'm positive it isn't sitting on the surface. The computer is only a year and a half old and my software is up to date.

    Hi austinbread,
It is hard to tell exactly what your issue with the MacBook Pro’s display is, but it is possible that there is a pixel anomaly. See this article for further information -

  • I have a problem with my motherboard and my battery of my 2010 macbook pro 13". It was just serviced with a new screen, keyboard, and logic board.

I have a problem with my motherboard and my battery of my 2010 macbook pro 13". It was just serviced with a new screen, keyboard, and logic board. How much will a new battery and motherboard cost and would it be worth it or should I just get a new computer. It was about 300 dollars to get it serviced last week. if it adds up to much past 600 dollars I will just get a new one. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!
P.S During classes today it began beeping in my bag. Like three kind of long steady beeps then a short pause, and when I opened it I couldn't see anything but it was on so I turned it off and back on.

Depends on what options your Apple store offers - if they can do a depot repair (where they send it out), that's around $300 for all parts & labor.
If the store doesn't have that option, a logicboard is around $600, battery $80-$100, from what I've seen.
If they JUST replaced the logicboard, you absolutely should NOT have to pay for another replacement - the replacement is covered by a warranty. If they want you to pay for it, make sure you have a copy of the receipt for the work that was recently completed so you can show it to them. They have no reason to charge you for another logicboard.

  • A bug is stuck, and dead, in the screen of my MacBook Pro.

A bug crawled up under the screen of my MacBook Pro and has died there. Is there any way I can get it out? Or should I just keep looking around it?A

Take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

I have a MacBook Pro that appears to have a screen defect, as shown by the image below. How can I have this fixed? If I have to go to the Apple store, will they still repair this screen, considering the MacBook Pro is over five years old (early 2008)?

  • Screen stuck on gray, used shift key and my screen appears with MacBook Pro and not the recovery option. Please help

Screen stuck on gray, used shift key and my screen appears with MacBook Pro and not the recovery option. Please help!

    Hi ..
Shift key boots into Safe Mode, not Recovery.
This only works on a Mac running v10.7 Lion or later.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery
If you can't boot into Recovery Mode, help here >   Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
