My synchronized clips (audio and video) have lost their compound clip icon after I bought the full version of FCP X, why is that?
I have noticed a few changes to my FCP workflow after installing FCPX from the trial version I had before. I've noticed that when I sync audio and video files together via Clip > Synchronize Clips.. the icon at the top left corner of the thumnail is no longer there as it was in the trial version. I also have to right click and select 'open in timeline' to work on the files. I much preferred clicking on the thumnail's icon in the event library and it opening up in the timeline. Also Stabilization is missing from my video effects! How odd.
I no longer have the trial version this is the point. Bought the 'release' version about 6 weeks ago. Still doesn't explain why the stabilization option randomly appears for some clips and not for others. Also would like to know if I can get the compound icon back on the thumbnails for synchonized clips.

I'm working on a short film shot on the Arri Alexa, and all my audio is on seperate audiofiles, though synced through time code. So I'm wondering: In Premiere CC, is there a way to automatically synchronize several audio- and video files, using timecode (as you can in Avid), without having to merge them individaully? THis would save me a lot of time.You can try using the "create multicamera sequence" command. That will create "multiclips" of your footage with its related audio. It can sync with timecode or use the audio for synchronization. When you need to export the edit for color grading, you can select all of them and choose multicamera>flatten. But beware that if you apply effects, such as speed ramp or intrinsic effects, those will be removed on a "flatten" command.

Ozone 3 Demo great, bought the full version and now it won't work
Bought Ozone 3 for mastering because I downloaded a trial version that was great. Installed the full version and now it won't show up in my garageband effects windows? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It shows up in pro-tools but not garageband? Any ideas or advice?

I followed the basic idea of the guy who said OH! I've got it! or something like that. He listed several things to do to uninstall all apple programs then finally amds (which did uninstall but it still displayed in the Programs page) as well as to download the newest version of iTunes, save it to the desktop and run it by right-clicking and installing as admin. It worked. Thanks for offering to help with the situation. -
Lots of my clips of videos have lost their audio in the event and project.
I have been making a video using iMovie and when it started everything was fine and as it should be. I have been adding clips to the project and all seemed fine. Some clips get rejected and moved to the trash to clear some space on my hard drive. I have just played the video back and lots of the clips have no audio over them, even though they did when they were imported. The clips that have lost the audio aren't ones that have had parts rejected and I have tried all of the help topics that iMovie has to offer. Can anyone help me work out how I can find these again because these clips are very important. Please help, I'm really not impressed. Thanks
The audio should still be there. Try opening the clip inspector to the audio tab and set the volume slider to 100%.
Also, make sure you don't have the ducking feature in use. That will cause all other clips to be muted while the ducking is on. -
Clip audio and video playback out of synch
I've noticed that everything in FCP X is slightly out of synch. Just enough to be noticeable. I thought it might have been the time taken for the sound to travel the length of the church (recording from a camera mic) but I shot some green screen yesterday and even that is out.
The same hardware was used ok with FCE-4 - the Audio i/f is FW-400 and on same bus as FW drives.Hey Andy, (cue whistling theme music)
Thanks for your informed opinion. Interesting that Apple released FCPX in it's current state rather than wait for the release of Lion. Seems like the core technologies now bundled with the app would make a significant difference running natively.
I'm an audio guy... the next release of Logic Audio is going to be version X, I'm just hoping it's not going to be Garageband Pro.
The reason I was expressing doubts about an OS upgrade making a noticeable difference is.... I heard the same thing about Snow Leopard. As it stands now I have two clients trying to run the latest version of Logic Pro on the current release of SL (10.6.8), the results are not good, the Logic Pro forum has many users unable to get Logic to even boot without crashing.. I'm waiting to hear from support. It seems like the OS is ahead of app development and things are breaking.

Is anyone else experiencing trouble playing video in itunes? Video intermittenly pauses and also plays with not audio. Video used to play fine. This problem only started since I upgraded to version 7. I have not used itunes since then because I couldn't watch anything without experiencing these problems. I was waiting for the next version to come out and hoped it would fix the problems I was having, but no such luck. I just upgraded to the latest version, version 11 and I'm still having the same problems. Anyone else having these same issues and if so, any solutions?

Basically, what I am trying to do is this:
Record my screen through Screeenium, record my voice as audio through an Avid MBox Mini (interface) with a MXL 909 microphone to pick up the audio. I have all that figured out. I'm able to efficiently record my audio and screenplay through these instruments and programs. What I am having trouble with is the stereo mix. I am running into a slew of problems here... My goal: Add on the audio of a game that I am playing (for example, Amneisia) so that the audio for my game will be picked up internally, and not through the speakers to be recorded through the microphone. I want there to be no external sound except me talking into my microphone. I also want to be able to HEAR the audio of the game through my headphones (and if possible, myself as well, through a monitor maybe?)
Problems I have run into so far:
-Haven't gotten it to pick up in game audio at all while using headphone. Can't figure this out
-Downloaded soundflower, have the output as soundflower. Not picking up anything, will put all my sound and midi settings at the end.
-When I do record through my microphone, it is only picking up a single channel (left earpiece only, no right channel)
-I have figured out it is NOT the equipment, I use Pro Tools and am able to pick up both channels with my mic, recorded a few tests. It's settings and I can't figure it out
-Trying not to run 16 million programs while running the game, will cause lag.

-Audio from gameplay of any game I am playing through alternative route of speakers (do NOT want to record game audio through speakers, internally)
-Record voice through Avid MBox Mini and MXL 909 microphone.

I followed a guide that told me to achieve "stereo mix'' I need to download soundflower and follow "X" steps. That is done and these are my current settings:
Audio Midi Setup - Stereo Mix custom Aggregate Device, Soundflower (2ch) selected, Avid Mbox Mini selected, Soundflower Output #1 has 2 channels (1-2), using Avid MBox mini for "Input" in order to record. Using Soundflower AND Avid MBox mini as "Output" in order to hear the sounds and replay game sounds (could be the problem? Maybe?)
Sound Settings - Output Stereo Mix (custom channel) Input Avid MBox Mini (recording)
I'm hoping this isn't too hard to understand.. I'm VERY bad at explaining information regarding computers.. It's hard becuase I don't understand it. I can clarify anything that I am able to, so any help on finding certain things would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
What software are you using to record your game?

On being prompted to create a new back-up on my Mac by Time Machine I lost a year's worth of back-ups. The crazy thing is tht on my ProBook I still have them even though it uses the same Time Capsule, which to mind mind they are still there on the Time Capsule. Has anybody else had this experience or has any suggestions how I can retrieve the info on my Mac? Any help gratefully accepted! Thanks

Not necessarily. Each Mac using a particular Time Capsule has its own set of backups that are independent of those of any other Mac.
Has anybody else had this experience or has any suggestions how I can retrieve the info on my Mac?
Why are those backups so important to you? My advice is to move on and live without them. -

You should have a backup of your servers regardless of circumstances. You would then be able to restore the server software.
When Apple repair machines they will often just swap it or swap the hard disk and will not make any effort to transfer your files. They assume you are doing a backup. Anybody running servers absolutely has a responsibility to ensure they have aduequate backups even more than 'normal' users. After installing Yosemite many of the videos I had in iPhoto won't play at all. All the videos (including missing ones) now have dashes around a thumbnail shape instead of the thumbnails that were there. When I click on the thumbnail shape of any of the ones it won't play it says "The operation couldn't be completed (OSStatus error -54.)" These are videos that were there in Mavericks before I installed Yosemite and worked fine then. Also now I am unable to import any videos from my iPhone or my desktop, even ones that it took before. It says the file is an unrecognized format.
What I want to know is - is this on purpose? Did Apple suddenly withdraw all support for videos in iPhoto and in the process destroy the ones that were there or is something wrong with my system? Do other people see thumbnails and are able to play videos and import new ones in iPhoto in Yosemite? I wouldn't be surprised if something is wrong with my system since after upgrading to Yosemite ALL the thousands of carefully organized songs in my iTunes playlists were missing and I don't think that was on purpose but the fact that I can't import new videos makes me think this is on purpose.
If this is on purpose, if iPhoto on Yosemite is really no longer able to take videos what can I use instead? In iPhoto my many videos were organized into folders and subfolders and sub-sub folders. I can't do that in iTunes and also can't adjust thumbnail size in iTunes so videos take up way too much space there. Any suggestions on third party programs that will let me organize videos into folders and subfolders, etc and see thumbnails at small sizes? I just need to be able to organize the videos and click them to play.THANK YOU!
I noticed this morning a lot of the thumbnails were back that weren't there last night. It must have very slowly been bringing them back, but the videos that would not play at all were still not working and there were still quite a few without thumbnails. I followed your suggestion and I'm amazed! That actually fixed everything! Now all the thumbnails are back, the videos that wouldn't play at all now work fine, and iPhoto let me import the videos that it wouldn't last night . I hope it stays like that but at least I know what to do if this happens again, if I dare to install any updates.
What does holding down the option key with launching the program do? I might need to use this again or with other programs.

Hello, I am and IIN Intitute of Integrative Nutrition in New York student. My iPAD 2 is part of my school material and was uploaded with all Videos and Audio classes for the whole program. I recently typed in my passwork incorrectly and disabled my iPad it is giving me the message " connect to i-tunes". I am afraid to loose my lectures. If you do not have a backup you are going to lose everything on your iPad and even if you do have one, you may still be out of luck.
You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
Read this very carefully before you proceed. Sometimes iTunes will allow you to restore the iPad without having to use recovery mode, but if you need to use recovery mode and don't have a backup, that is where you may have a problem.

Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore iPad. -

I put all my cd's on my ipod on my old laptop. now i did the update on itunes on my new laptop and all music has gone from the ipod.
Is there anyway of getting it back?All you can get back is your iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
You will have to rerip the CDs unless you can find a copy.
When you restore or update an iPod, if synced media is not in the iTunes library it will not be on the iPod after the restore/update since the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music. -

If the tracks that do not play fully also fail to sync with your portable devices, then you probably had an error in downloading these tracks. To solve this problem:
1. Delete the problem tracks from your library and hard disk.
2. Go to the Home screen of the iTunes Store.
3. Click "Purchased" under "Quick Links."
4. Click the "Not on This Computer" button.
5. Find your album with the missing tracks and download again.

Audio and video clip lengths differ in encore timeline

I have been working to build a BD-R H.263 ac3 disk. I used AME from within Premiere Pro to export the M4V and (at the same time) AC3, using the present defualt parameters-no tweaking of any setting. The clips appear to play great on encore's monitor--everything in sync.And on the burned BD-R
However, I am getting the black screen between clips in the timeline when played in the standalone BD player, or (when I had one clip to a timeline) in a playlist. a previous poster made note of different length audio and video clips. I zoomed on the timeline and lo and behold--the the audio and video clips are different lengths.
This is with the timeline fully expand--each division is a frame. Note that break between the two audio clips is offset from the break between the two video clips by two frames. This offset is after several clips. I could find no information on what the one frame crosshatching at the end of the leading clips means. Can anyone explain this cross hatching? What do I do about it? the image below is after the first clip in the timeline:

I tried using the trim tools to bring these together-but, the trim tool only lets it jump a full frame and then only to a GOP boundary, which doesn't help because the boundaries are obviously different fro the video and audio track.
I want to emphasize that these assets were created from the Premiere CS4 timeline (which had no offset between audio and video) using the default H.263 and AC3 presets in AME and the same presets selected in Encore.
The offsets do not appear to cause the actual audio and video to go out of sync when I play the burned disk. But, I get the 1-2 second wait between menus and chapters, or with items in a playlist.
The audio offset suggests that the player may not know what to do when faced with a chapter point that is different on the audio and video tracks, although, I will note that encore snapped to the joints in the video track not the audio track.
You can see from this listing that several of the clips audio and video lengths that differ by one frame. By the end of the timeline, the cummulative offset is 3 seconds (48 minute timeline)
Can anyone shed any light on this? ThanksI don't think that I had the same problem that you do, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents just in case it might help. Encore would not build the output; it said something like the inpoint and the length did not match the endpoint. Actually, I think this happened in several different situations. In one case I simply adjusted the audio and video tracks to match endpoints. In the other case I went back to Premier and found that in some cases where I had added transitions it had shifted the endpoints of the audio and video tracks so they did not match. I removed the transitions. It didn't matter that much to me since I'm doing this for personal use. Is it possible those crosshatched lines you're seeing are transitions?
I am using CS 3 and editing HD. I have had many problems with encore. I read in the form someplace that it had a hard time handling H.264 so I changed to MPEG-2 and that fixed one problem. In another case it couldn't find some files and I found some advice not to use HD or wide menus, so I switched to standard 4:3 menus and it worked.
