My web page breaks up in Outlook

Someone please help! I am a newby at Dreamweaver and
am building a single page website to send as an email newsletter.
The page looks OK previewed in IE but when I hit send/send page as
email the page breaks up in Outlook. What am I missing? I expect it
is simple. I built the page with layers.

Don't use layers, use tables. Outlook doesn't render with the
Internet Explorer engine (since Outlook 2007 at least). You also
can't use padding, background images, external CSS styles, and
dozens of other things. You also need to provide a full path to the
images in the newsletter.
In short, it's NOTHING like designing for a browser.

if you don't show a physical street address you're in violation of
the law as well? Again, use a third party service so you're
protected against this crap. Also, they're cheap!

Web page breaks when adding utility JARs to my EAR

Hi All,
I am creating a Web Application (.war) that runs some java code and has some JSP web pages to control the code/display results (as a dashboard sort of thing). I have then put this .war file in an enterprise app (.ear file - I have done this as there is other functionality that I want to roll in to the application).
I have been building this in Rational Software Architect and imported the required utility .jar files into the .war project, however when this is built the utility .jars are not included in the exported .ear file (the jsp dashboard pages still display correctly - it just means that the java code cant be run).
To ensure that the utility jar files are included in the exported .ear file I the added the utility jars in to the main .ear project and referenced them from the web app project - this compiles fine - however, when i then view the jsp pages they are now showing blank!
Any ideas as to what might be the problem or why my jsp pages are not showing up once I have added the dependent utility jars in to the ear file?

How to edit a web page in Acrobat 9???

Hello,
I would like to create a PDF from my website, but do not like the way the web page breaks up when I download it into Acrobat Pro 9. I don't want to change the way the page looks online, just the way it will print out if a client downloads the PDF. Acrobat doesn't seem to allow me to go into the page source to add breaks, or have a command for adding page breaks, to even out the spacing so that it prints the way I want. Any suggestions?

Sorry but that suggestion doesn't help.I want to add a page break in the web page, in Acrobat, without having to go in and redesign each page in notepad, rewriting the html code , so that my scrolling webpage has a page break where I choose as it goes from one page to the next. I don't want it to print a full page of text on the 1st page as that breaks up information I want to keep grouped together. OUtlook was already set as the mail client for FF, and is my operating system (XP)'s default mail programme. therefore problem not solved at all. what I get whenever I follow a link in a webpage to send an e-mail is a little pop up window asking me to sign in to gmail or open an account. any other suggestions?

When I print a web page it only prints the first page and not the rest of the web page below the page break.

When I print a web page firefox will only print the first page, all of the content to the first page break and nothing past that.
How can I change the settings so that it will print more than on page?

-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

Preventing page breaks in PDF on converted web pages

I've been happy with the speed and linking that is available when I convert web pages into pdf's. However, the pdf versions often break the pages at inappropriate places or even will break an image so that part appears on one page and the rest appears on the following page. How can I can control where the pages will break in the pdf version of the web page?

Mike is correct in the breaking stakes but you can change the
destination paper size, orientation and scaling inside the 'Create PDF
from Web Site' settings ...

Export to Excel via web query (page breaks on every column?)

The problem that I'm having is when a query is sent out via the reporting agent or whenever I export a web query to excel there are page breaks put on every column of the query. This becomes quite cumbersome whenever an end user or myself wants to print out a query.
I have already transported the packages included in the "How to Enhance Web Printing" and tested much of the functionality in BWD with no success.
Can anyone shed some light on how to adjust the page breaks or format when exporting a web query to excel or when sending a query out via the reporting agent?

How do I email a web page using outlook express?

I think to be honest that the answer is that Microsoft has (for once) stuck to the specification,Yes,.... a very strange thing for MS to have done. Normally, they would've added all kinds of special things.
Generally, I'd expect that the body value would be URL decoded first and then it would treat is as HTML (since plain text is no different then HTML, it just has no tags). However, that mailto protocol is fairly old and not so commonly used outside of defining the To address, so it wouldn't surprise me to hear that these things were implemented years ago and not touched since.

Creating a certain set of pages for a client's site that will
primarily be printed by the viewer. Client wants to be able to
insert functional page break commands at critical spots in a page.
Anybody got a sweet bit of code to do this simply and reliably?

Safari breaks lines after every word when printing some web pages

Most pages print fine, but there are a few where Safari totally mangles the formatting when trying to print.
For example, this page on Microsoft's support website. It looks fine in Safari, but when I try and print it, all the content gets pushed to the left edge of the page, with each word appearing on a new line. This causes the content to take up 15 pages!
I've tested this in Safari 7.1 in Mavericks, and Safari 8.0 in Yosemite. The results are identical in both versions.
The same web page prints normally from Chrome or Firefox, and is only 3 pages long when printed.
Note: Microsoft's website isn't the only place I've seen Safari do this, but it's the only example I have right now.

This happens on three different Macs. Those Macs have no problem printing from other apps, including other browsers.
Can you please try printing that web page on your Mac (with Safari), and letting me know what happens?

Note: You don't even need to actually print it. Just hit ⌘-P, and you'll see the bad formatting in the Print dialog box.

I am using Firefox 11 and I am unable to print web pages. I can print PDFs ok. I tried to open the prefs.js file to delete anything that starts with print and I get an error message.

When editing '''prefs.js''' you need to use a simple text editor program. WinXP Notepad messes up the line formatting of prefs.js, so I use Wordpad - but you need to save the edited file in a Text-Only format (Wordpad asks about that when you go to save the edited file). I never used Win7, so I don't know if that version of Notepad messes with the line formatting of prefs.js or not.
Another thing - make sure '''''"Hide extensions for known file types"''''' is de-delected in Windows file / folder options > view -> advanced settings. Otherwise Windows may add a .txt file extension that you won't be able to see, and that will break that file in Firefox. '''prefs.js.txt''' won't be recognized by Firefox, when is expecting to find '''''prefs.js''''' .

If I save it, there is no problem, I can open the file and see the content but if I try to open the content, I get an error in Acrobat Reader ("error opening the document.File not found").
