My Welcome Screen is Blank

I don't know what I did, but my Welcome Screen is blank. It used to show up with files and templates. I have my prefs set to show Welcome screen.
I'm on a Mac G4using CS3. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I misread this.  Disregard my previous answer.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Mac - Welcome Screen Is Blank Under Network Account

This is a new installation of Dreamweaver CS4 on a computer running Mac OS X 10.5.7 in a computer lab environment.  All updates have been applied.  Users' home folders are hosted via AFP on a server running Mac OS X Server 10.5.7.  The "welcome screen" window that appears after launching Dreamweaver CS4 is blank for users using network accounts (both admin and non-admin).  The welcome screen appears correctly when launched from within a local accounts (admin or non-admin).  The welcome screen window can be closed and then the application appears to run just fine.  Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution?

Some clues: Apparently, the "welcome screen" is an .swf file located in each user's home directory here:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en_US/Configuration/Content/Welcome/Flash/welcome.swf
I can open this file in Flash or Flash Player under a network account and it looks just fine, yet it won't load when Dreamweaver CS4 is launched, resulting in a blank, white "welcome screen."
For now, I've decided to push a default preferences file to new users that turns off the welcome screen, but I'd prefer to find a fix. Anyone have any clues?

    P Spier,
I tried removing preference but the welcome screen still comes up blank. I even uninstalled and reinstalled.

  • PSE 6 Blank welcome screen and nothing else

Started suddenly, no issues previously. Installed on an iMac running 10.5.8. Blank welcome screen and nothing else. Tried reinstalling... nothing is working.... help!

What happens if you turn off your internet and then start pse 6?
There has been a rash of posts over in the photoshop forum about photoshop cs3 doing something similar, so i wonder if it's related
since pse 6 is based on the cs3 code.
If it's the same thing, then that might be the registration screen your seeing (or not seeing because it's blank)
If you start pse 6 up without the internet on and it's the registration screen you see, press Never Register and that should hopefully resolve the issue.

  • Just installed this. When I open it a blank welcome screen comes up and when I try to delete it freezes my computer.

Just installed Photoshop - blank welcome screen comes up and freezes my computer. Any help?

Wait a minute or two for the screen to load the content, scroll to the bottom and checkmark "Don't show welcome screen again"

  • Adobe Muse Welcome Screen Blank

    Software: Muse 2014
    OS: Win7 & 8 (tried on both)
Problem: Muse Welcome screen is broken on Muse 2014 Build. Have tried running the program with admin perms, changing the compatibility to Windows XP and reinstalling the app clean however nothing has changed. This seems to be a major problem with Adobe Muse 2014.

  • DBUA shows blank welcome screen

    Hi,
I have Sun Solaris (OS version 10 - Kernel: 137111-02)
I just installed Oracle 10g, which installed fine without any errors.
I also started to install 10.02.04 patch.
I started off by running "runInstaller" for the patch, which finished successtully. Now I am trying to run "dbua".
When I run dbua, it shows "Database Upgrade Assistant: Welcome" screen which talks about how DBUA will interactively step me through the upgrade process. FYI: This is the screen where at the bottom is says "Do not display this page again."
When I click next here, it takes about 30-45 seconds, and comes back with a blank screen, with title "Database Upgrade Assitant: Welcome". It is supposed to show me the list of running Oracle instances on this server, where I can select the instance and click Next.
But it just shows me a blank screen with "Cancel" "Help" and "Next" buttons. When I click on Next, it tells me "Specify a password for the user with SYSDBA privileges".
Cancel will cancel out the upgrade...
I have looked / googled on this issue all morning, and not getting anything solid...
Has anyone came across this issue that can help me?
    Thanks

Ok, I have resolved this issue; Mike gave me a good hint (thanks Mike)...
This solaris server has multiple Oracle instances, one for each department. So here is the overview
    Oracle Instance 1:
    User: oracle1
    Group: oinst1
    SID: ORA1
    Oracle Home: /oracle/ORA1
    Data: /oradata/ORA1
    FRA: /archive/ORA1
    Oracle Instance 2:
    User: oracle2
    Group: oinst2
    SID: ORA2
    Oracle Home: /oracle/ORA2
    Data: /oradata/ORA2
    FRA: /archive/ORA2
Each location is a different file system (Oracle Home, Data, and FRA) for all Oracle instances...
Problem I ran into was /var/opt/oracle/oradata had ownership of oracle1:oinst1, which was fine when I was installing Oracle Instance 2. Root has permission to write to this file, so when I ran root.sh at the end of install, it created second entry in oratab for "ORA2".
However, when I tried to do an upgrade, oracle2 user did not have permission to "ORA1" (but that user had read permission to oratab file), so the dbua welcome page (where I am supposed to select the instance I want to upgrade) showed me nothing...
For the resolution: I commented out "ORA1" instance and changed ownership of oratab file to oracle2:oinst2
Then, I restarted "dbua", and it worked!!!
    Cheers

  • Screen goes blank after clicking OK to welcome screen in shared review

I have a client who cannot view a particular document.  The document is about 150MB and has shared review enabled over WebDAV and has been reader extended.  The client is using Windows 7 and Reader XI 11.0.05.  She can view other shared review & extended documents ont the website just fine.  Others that are using Win7 & the same exact version of reader can view the document just fine (even the others on her network).  So it just seems to be her computer.  When she views the document in IE, the background image comes up fine and she gets the shared review welcome screen.  When she clicks OK, the screen flickers and goes grey and seems to crash IE.  We've tried downloading the file, then opening reader from the desktop and clicking Open and selecting the file, but Reader either never opens or freezes.  We've also tried reinstalling reader and updating it, then rebooting the computer, but it doesn't seem to change anything.  Has anyone else experienced anything similar, or have any suggestions on where to look?

  • Unmountable Boot Volume on XP and screen goes blank before repair begins

The XP Windows partition was seemingly working fine until I turned on the laptop this afternoon. Took a minute or so longer to boot than usual and I was prompted when it did load to update Acrobat, which I did and it rebooted. Took longer to boot, perhaps two or three minutes and I received an Unmountable Boot Volume error. I rebooted a few more times, same result. I tried system restore to three previous dates over past ten days and was told after attempted reloading that it had failed and I should try another day. Worried about my data, I went to safe mode to back up C: drive.
The general advice from MS is to use the Windows installation CD to repair the boot sector. With the CD in, Windows will boot and show my normal desktop and files, though will on perhaps the third item to load to memory, the screen goes blank and the loading seems to continue, as I hear sounds though not sure if it is the programs or the repair.
There does seem to be an ability for it to boot, just not maintain it through full load. Any suggestions short of reinstalling windows would be welcomed. Thank you.

I was unistalling some usless programs when my laptop died & when I turned it on I had unmountable boot volume 0x000000ED (the blue screen)
If I hit repair windows it goes to a black screen with the mouse (nothing else)
Now I tried f8 & then did command prompt but after it had gone to the loading files screen it had gone back to the blue screens with unmountable boot volume 0x000000E
I DL windows 7 repair but how do I get it to install when I cant get past the blue screen?
so i decide to repair it my self and then i found this great solution what helps me

  • X61s: lost Thinkpad welcome screen

I just got an L2440p external monitor to use with my X61s (and T60p.) After messing about with this combination I no longer get the standard Thinkpad welcome screen when I power up the X61s. I suspect there is some conflict between the built-in Windows screen property settings, Intel's GMA driver/applet and various ThinkVantage software like Presentation Director. Toggling Fn+F7 doesn't seem to help. The X61s runs Vista Business.
Any ideas on how to get the Thinkpad welcome screen back?

    > are you missing the welcome screen when powering the X61s with or without the L2440p attached?
Either way. During power-on the screen remains blank all the way until Windows Login. Even the standard Windows boot progress bar is absent.
     > what do you have set as the default boot display device?   this can be accessed in the BIOS
That's the problem. I can't get into the BIOS because I can't see the ThinkPad screen. (Well actually I can, by pressing the ThinkVantage button, but I can't see what comes up thereafter.)
BTW my T60p and earlier ThinkPads all had a Configuration Utility where among other things I could forcedisplay settings. I notice this utility is AWOL on the X61s.
Edit: My error. I had the L2440p powered off but not disconnected. After I disconnected the VGA cable the Welcome screen came up on the X61s and I was able to go into BIOS Config to set Display to "Both."  Now if I power-on with no external display the Welcome screen comes up on the X61s. But if the L2440p is connected, even though I set "Both" the Welcome screen comes up only on the L2440p. What's going on?

  • Welcome Screen Woes

The basic issue: Dreamweaver/Flash hangs indefinitely at the
welcome screen after being opened and cannot be used/ must be
forced quit. I can’t click anything and certainly can use the
    program.
    My System:
    Intel Mac Pro
    Two 2.66 Ghz Intel Processors
    2 GB Ram
ATI X1900 Card with 512 MB Memory
    Internet Connection
    Operating System: Mac OSX 10.4.9
    How to produce the problem:
    1. Ensure internet connection is enabled.
    2. Open Dreamweaver
Results: Upon opening, Dreamweaver/Flash hangs indefinitely
at the welcome screen. All menus and tool bars load, but the
welcome screen displays a blank box at which point the cursor
spins, the program freezes and must be forced quit.
Normally the welcome screen should load quickly and display
the various document options as well as a link to adobe. (Assuming
an internet connection is available. If not, a static graphic
should be displayed in the lower right corner.) After extensive
trouble shooting I narrowed the problem down to the internet
connection. Without an internet connection (Ethernet cable
unplugged) the welcome screen loaded promptly and didn’t hang
however the link normally provided in the lower right hand corner
was missing since there was no internet available. The program then
    ran normally.
When the internet was connected, the program would load up to
the welcome screen and then hang without displaying any options. No
menus were available and nothing could be done in the program. The
only solution at this point was to force quit.
I spoke with a tech support agent and worked through the
majority of the steps outlined here (
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb401096)
to no avail. As far as I can tell, the issue is caused by the
welcome screen failing to access the internet content necessary to
load. I was able to disable the welcome screen by disconnecting the
internet, opening Dreamweaver/Flash, disabling it via the options,
and then reconnecting the internet. However, this of course
prevents the use of the welcome screen, a feature I find useful.
Notes: The welcome screen for Illustrator and InDesign load
flawlessly and quickly and are not affected by the internet
    connection.
Has anyone else experienced this? Adobe’s tech agent
told me it might be an issue with my internet, but I doubt that is
the case. I have submitted a bug report to adobe, but was curious
if anyone else had found a solution or had any idea why this is
happening. Why can Illustrator and InDesign load the web links and
    not Flash and Dreamweaver.
I know the welcome screen is hardly a “necessary”
feature, but considering the price one pays for this software, it
would be nice if it worked.

I had this problem with both Photoshop and Illustrator. After several tries, I spoke with someone in Adobe tech Support who said it was a KNOWN ISSUE with the welcome screen and then took control of my computer, removed some files and now everything is fine. You have to talk to two different department, one for Illustrator and one for Photoshop for the fix. 6 phone calls and a total of about that many hours dealing with this BS. Epic, epic fail, Adobe.
The one thing I know for sure now, the Adobe staffers who work on these forums don't know what they're talking about.
