MYSQL JSP  Storing array to a database

I have an combobox by which multiple values can be selected. I need to store the values available in the combo box into mysql database as an array in the database.
eg:
If I select one,two,three,four as values for the number field
then in the db it should be shown like this
name | values
number | one
| two
| three
| four

Ok here is the sample code
Table in db
mysql> create table test (a INT NOT NULL, b SET('USA', 'India', 'Pakistan', 'Russia'));
First.htm (say)
<html>
<body>
<form name="frm" action="Test.jsp" method="post">
<input type=text name="na" >
<select size="1" name="a8" tabindex="7" multiple>
<option>India</option>
<option>USA</option>
<option>Russia</option>
<option>Pakistan</option>
<input type="submit" name="abc" value="ok">
</form>
</body>
</html>
First.jsp
<%@ page language="java" import="java.sql.*"%>
<html>
<head>
<title>Testing SET in MySQL</title>
</head>
<body>
<%
String arr[] = request.getParameterValues("a8");
String strToInsert = "";
for(int i=0; i<arr.length; i++) {
if(i==arr.length-1) {
strToInsert += arr;
} else {
strToInsert += arr[i] + ",";
out.println(strToInsert);
String strID = request.getParameter("na");
int iID = Integer.parseInt(strID);
Class.forName("Driver");
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(
"jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/dbName?user=username&password=password");
Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
stmt.executeUpdate("insert into test values("+iID+", '"+strToInsert+"')");
%>
</body>
</html>
I assume that int value will be sent in text filed named "na".
Above file will insert record in db.....

  • Storing an array into the database using jdbc

    Hi,
    ive got a problem storing an array into a database. I want to store objects consisting of several attributes. One of these attributes is an array containing several int values. I dont know exactly what is the best way to store these objects into a database. I have created two tables connected by a one to many relationship of which one stores the array values and the other table stores the object containing the array. Is that ok or should I use another way. Its the first time Im trying to store objects containing arrays into a database so Im very uncertain in which way this should be done.
    Thanks in advance for any tips

    1. You should use blob or longvarbianry type colum to stor that array.
    2. All object in that array should be Serializable.
    3. Constuct a PreparedStatement object
    4. Convert array to byte[] object
    ByteArrayOutputStream baos=null;
    ObjectOutputStream objectOutputStream=null;
    baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(bufferSize);
    objectOutputStream = new ObjectOutputStream(baos);
    objectOutputStream.writeObject(array);
    objectOutputStream.flush();
    baos.flush();
    byte[] value=baos.toByteArray();
    5. Now you can use PreparedStatement.setBytes function to insert byte[] value.

  • Which is better datatype for storing Images in 11gr2 Database ?

    Can anyone tell me which datatype should be maintained for storing images in database in terms of

    Thanks/Regards in advacne.

    Which one have better speed, database system or file system ?Database is better all around. It is not just a question of speed. It is a question of storage, security, flexibility, scalability, robustness and so on.
    If you use ASM and raw devices from a storage array or SAN, how do you get o/s files onto that? (requires a file system on the SAN/array LUNs)
    If it is inside the database, database security, concurrency and consistency apply to the image. Outside the database? How do you control who has access? Prevent someone with slippery fingers from accidentally deleting/renaming/moving images files? How do you backup up the image data with the image attribute data in the database?
    Having all this inside the database, part of the database, managed by the database, provides you with more flexibility, robustness, and security. After all a RDBMS is a data management system - it is designed for managing data. And that includes managing binary data.
    As for speed. Reading a 24MB image is reading 24MB worth of data. Whether that data is read by process A from disk1, or process B from disk2 - the amount of data is the same. So if you want faster I/O, then use faster disks. If disk1 is faster, process A will perform better reading the image than process B. If disk2 is faster, the roles are reversed.
    So I/O speed is not a direct function of process A or process B. It is a direct function of the I/O storage and fabric layer. Yes, a process's method of I/O can make a difference (e.g. using block reads not aligned with the physical blocks on disk). But this is more a configuration issue than process doing badly designed I/O calls.
    So the speed question is a bit loaded as it has more to do with the architecture and design of the I/O system - and less to do with the process doing that I/O. You can have a highly optimised I/O process doing poorly using an old and slow I/O layer, and poorly written I/O process doing pretty well on a SSD I/O layer.
    Databases like Oracle is designed for dealing with data - and thus effectively dealing with I/O. Lots of it. For lots of data. So I/O process design is not a consideration. The database processes will use the I/O layer as optimally as possible and as configured.

  • Stored procedures in PV database

    I want to create PL/SQL stored procedures in Primavera database(Oracle 8.1.7) using JDBC ODBC bridge driver which further uses system dsn PrimaveraSDK_PE(Installed by standard Primavera client).
    Whenever i try creating it, i get an error message saying syntax error near word procedure.
    Same error occurs when i try creating a table.
    Following are my connection parameters:
    odbcURL = "jdbc:odbc:PrimaveraSDK_PE"
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
              con1 = DriverManager.getConnection(odbcURL, "admin", "admin");
    I can create the procedures using Oracle OCI driver but using that i do not have access to all fields..so errors says..invalid column.
    following are connection parameters:
    String driverName = "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver";
         Class.forName(driverName);
              con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@sapxi","privuser","privuser");
    Since I cannot see all the fields of database through PL/SQL, I think this approach would not work. To see all the fields of database I must access it using DSN ONLY!!! Even the administrative login is not been able to show me all the fields.This is the way they have designed it....
    So whats wrong in creating the stored procedures in oracle database using JDBC ODBC bridge driver using system DSN????????

  • Beginners question - making sense of form, item, pane & variable (with relation to where data is stored in the SQL database)

    Hi Everyone,
    I am new to writing reports (SQL code) for SAP, however I am aware that inside SAP Business One it is necessary to enable System Information (from the View menu) in order to see which tables (and related table attributes / column names) are related to various aspects of the various SAP 'modules' (e.g.: A/R Invoice).
    Using an A/R Invoice as an example I can see at the row (or line) level that an item with the description of 'Opening Balance Transfer' is contained in the table INV1, within the attribute (or column) called Dscription.
    However not every 'on screen object' shows a table / attribute. For example in the same A/R Invoice if I hover my mouse over the Balance Due field all I see is Form related information.
    My question is 'How do I make sense of the Form, Item, Pane, Variable information?', with relation to where data is stored within the SQL database?
    Links to online tutorials explaining how this feature of SAP Business One will be much appreciated, along with any personal advice regarding working with this information.
    Any (and all) help will be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    David

    Hi David,
    1.Here I am explaining use of each field except pane
    a. Form ---> Used in additional authorization creator
    b. Item, column--->Useful in creating Formatted search queries (FMS)
    c. Variable --> Some of the field values based on another values. ie. indirect values.
    d. INV1---Table name
    2. How to get variable?
    As per your second attachment, to get balance due ,you need doc total field from OINV table. For example,
    SELECT T0.[DocNum], T0.[DocTotal] FROM OINV T0 WHERE T0.[DocNum] = 612004797

  • Storing XML schema in database

    Hi everybody..I have question here related to the storing of the XML schema in the database. When an XML Schema is created like this.
    dbms_xdb.createResource('home/DEV/xml_schema_test.xsd'),
    then is the XSD created and stored in one of the database tables or is it stored physcially as an xsd file in the database repository or both?
    If it is stored in one of database tables, then which table is it?
    If it is stored as an XSD file in the database repository, then how can I access the xsd file if I created it like in the example above.
    To access the xsd file over http, do I need to start the xsdhttp server or is it already started if I loaded XDK in my database.
    Would the url for accessing the same over http be
    http://db_machine:8080/home/DEV/xml_schema_test.xsd.
    I think I have got information in bits and pieces but not able to put everything together.
    Thanks in advance for the replies.

    The questionssss you are asking are dealt with in the FAQ link at the top of the first page on this forum, the rest is described in detail in the XML DB Developers Guide. A little bit of reading wouldn't harm, would it.

  • Java Stored Procedure in one database connecting to muntiple databases.

    Hello,
    I created a Java Stored Procedure in one database(Oracle10g) and successfully open a connection to another database(Oracle10g) using Thin JDBC Driver. I want to actually transfer CLOB data from one DB to another DB. I am concern that by opening a connection another database in Java Stored Procedure, might interfere with oracle and destabilize the instance at some point. Oracle JDBC FAQ (Link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_faq.htm#34_13) stated that Yes it could be done but then mentioned the workaround.(if it could be done why do we need a workaround!!!)
    I would like to confirm whether connecting to multiple DB using JDBC Thin Driver in a Java Stored Procedure is supported by Oracle10g or not and whether it has any known issue with it.
    Thanks in Advance!

  • Is it possible to log an array to a database using only one statement?

    I'm using Teststand 2.0.1. Now I can use "database options.." to log single number or string to Oracle database with no problem. But I have the difficulty to log an array to my database by using only one statement. Does Teststand has the ability to loop the stepresult usingthe array size as an index to log the array to the database? Or some other way to log array?

    Jingtao -
    You have a two options to log array data:
    1) Use the Str expression function to convert the array of number property to a string with elements delimited by some character like a comma or space. You could then the single value to a variable string field. To retrieve the data you will have to parse the string to repackage the data.
    2) Log the data directly to a binary field. TestStand takes the safearray version of the array and writes it byte for byte out to the field. To retrieve the data, you will have to pull it back into a safearray to repackage it in binary form.
    Did you have a different way that you would have liked TestStand to use to store the data? What type of data field and what format of data?
