Amarok2 compilation fails on 4%, segmentation fault

Hi!
I am trying to compile amarok2 using PKGBUILD from AUR. It results in error:

Yes, it works! Ive successfully compiled amarok 2.0.1.1. Thank you pressh.
Nevertheless its still strange. I have tried it twice as root yesterday and had no luck. Maybe it was something in the qt or cmake packages which I updated today before building again.

    After a system crash I'm trying to restore. I first did a application reset-config ise and then a restore over an ftp repository.
    After 80% it fails with at DB Syncup with a segmentation fault. Tried this with different Backup versions all having the latest patch level.

    After sending the appropriate logs to the TAC I learned that even though the restore looked to have failed, at 80% the actual restore has been completed and what was failing was the node synchronization.   With this knowledge I was able to access the admin GUI and manually sync up the other nodes and have been running without issue.
    As it turns out this is  documented issue, CSCur36983, and will be fixed in release 1.4.
    Here is the reply I received from the TAC:
    "Based on the logs sent, we're definitely hitting CSCur36983 which will be
    fixed in ISE 1.4:

    According to the bug details, when we reach 80% the restoration part itself
    has already completed. What is failing is a sync with the rest of the nodes
    in the deployment. Therefore, you can reload the ISE at this point and you
    should have access to the admin GUI again. From there, you can force a sync up  with the other nodes."

    7.04. Java-6 and Java-5 are already installed.
    I have download and unzip the flex2 sdk under
    /usr/local/flex2.
    But when I tried to build the sampes by running:
    ./build-samples.sh, it only show the following error and the flex
    won't compile.

  • Ld segmentation fault generating output file

    I have a fairly large executable that is being compiled on Solaris 8 with gcc 3.2.3 configured with the Solaris 64 bit ld. ld is failing with a segmentation fault during the output file generation phase.
    A stack track of ld at the time of the seg fault look like the following:
    update_osym
    update_outfile
    ld_main
    main
    One of the registers referenced in the affending assembly instruction is suspiciously close
    to 64K.
    The .o's have been compiled with the -g option which generates quite a bit of debug information.
    Has anyone seen this problem and is there any workaround other than not compiling with -g ?

    A few (sort of obvious) things to check:
    1) Are you running the latest linker patch? It seems to be updated fairly often. For solaris 8, the current revision is 109147-26
    2) Are you invoking ld directly, or letting gcc invoke it for you? In general it is much better to let the compiler binary drive ld.

  • "Segmentation fault" during tns rman active duplicate

    Hello. I am trying to do an active duplicate using tns connectivity and just after restoring the controlfile the process fails with the error "Segmentation fault". However if I start the rman using Ezconnect everything goes smoothly. Restarting the databases did not help. What could be the reason? Here is the output with the error:

  • Prtdiag segmentation fault despite patches

    Hi,
    I need to compare various specifications about multiples servers, and I usually use the "/usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/prtdiag" command to do that.
    But on a particular server, the command immediately failed with a "segmentation fault".
    The server is a SunFire V490 with a Solaris 5.8 OS.
    I searched through Sun's report, and this bug seems corrected with pacth 109873-25+ (which is obsoleted by 111792-11).
    But "showrev" seems to indicate that the patches have already been applied since it gives me the following result :
    *Patch: 109873-26* Obsoletes: 109655-01, 110117-04, ...
    *Patch: 111792-11* Obsoletes: 109655-01, 110117-04, ...
    ....Moreover, i don't have [qge Ethernet card|http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-66-200290-1]
    So I really don't understand why it still returns the same error.
    Do someone know where does it come from or how to fix it ?

  • GNU compiled app crashes with signal 11: Segmentation Fault

    Hi Community,
    I know this is not a GNU oriented forum, but maybe this is a common issue.
    We have a C++ multi-threaded application running properly in Solaris 9 Sparc. Due to some issues mostly related to the NICs we needed to have the application running in Solaris 10 x86. The problem is that the compilation is ok (always with GNU) but during run time, we have the application crashing in different instructions because of a signal 11.
    It always crashes in a malloc call within the libstdc++.so.6
    It was compiled with the option -mt and -lthread. Is this a known problem? Do you recommend any direction to start seeking for a solution?

    A crash in malloc in multi-threaded code could be a bug in the system malloc or a failure to use a thread-safe malloc. The default Solaris malloc in /usr/lib/libc.so.* is thread-safe.
    A crash in malloc can also be caused by a heap corruption. Probably the most common causes of heap corruption are
    - writing beyond the bounds of a buffer or variable (off by one, for example)
    - deleting the same object more than once
    - using an invalid pointer:
    --- uninitialized
    --- pointing to a deleted object
    --- pointing to an out-of-scope object
    - failure to guard a critical region
    - failing to declare shared objects as volatile

  • SMPlayer - Segmentation Fault - QXcbShmImage: shmget() failed (22)

    Hello,
    when I'm watching a video playlist in SMPlayer there comes a time the video ends and when smplayer have to go to the next video it exit just with the "segmentation fault" meesage. This does not happens always, just randomly. I've downloaded the latest built from smplayer in order to see if it was solved but it isn't. With this latest smplayer build I got more exit information. I didn't know where ends the log from one song and where the next song log begins, so I've pasted from the last time I see a reference for the previous one:

    I haven't been able to compile the latest version of MPlayer in order to discard MPlayer (I got this compiling error: make: *** [libvo/vo_gif89a.o] Error 1)
    And searching the internet there are references to Qt, so I think its a Qt bug instead a smplayer or mplayer or nvidia bug, but I don't know anything about Qt and I don't know/understand what to do with this information. I've got installed qt4 and qt5-base and more qt packages but I don't know which can be relevant
    I've also tried to change the output video driver from vdpau (I've got an nvidia card) to xv but the bug still happens.
    With vlc I have no problems watching the same playlists.

  • Segmentation Fault in db- put() fun with BDB ver 4.5.20/4.6.19 in linux

    I am working on porting an application that runs on sun solaris sparc (OS ver 5.8) with Berkeley DB ver 4.2.50 into suse linux [ Linux version 2.6.5-7.244-smp (gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux)) ]. I have compiled the application in linux and i am getting segmentation fault error while running the application. The error occurs while the objects are loaded from the database into berkeley cache. The application fails in db->put function while loading the objects. This segmentation fault error is not consistently occuring every time on the same object. Sometimes it throws the error while loading the first object itself or sometimes it throws after loading couple of objects. But the stack trace shows the same function whenever it crashes.

    At the end of this function, the return value of db->put is checked for DB_SUCCESS. The application never executed this line when it throws SIGSEGV.
    I have tried using the BDB versions 4.5.20/4.6.18/4.6.19 with the application and it throws segmentation fault error with all versions of BDB. Following are the cache related configurable parameters that we use in our application.

    We are using the Sybase Adaptive DB server running in Solaris/Linux servers. The same application that runs in Solaris connecting to Sybase DB (in solaris) is working perfectly fine. And the application that i am working in linux connects to the Sybase DB running in linux server.
    Please let me know what could be the issue that is causing our application to segmentation fault.

    You're on Linux, I highly suggest you download and build Valgrind, run your application w/ valgrind --tool=memcheck, and get back to us.     I have tried using the BDB versions
    4.5.20/4.6.18/4.6.19 with the application and it
    throws segmentation fault error with all versions of

    We are using the Sybase Adaptive DB server running in
    Solaris/Linux servers. The same application that
    runs in Solaris connecting to Sybase DB (in solaris)

    Jack in running and it works fine with other applications. I'm using the package from extra that is the 2.5 version, I've compiled ardour 2.7 but i got the same error when running it.

    I solved it, I think it's a bug in Ardour, but maybe could be also Arch related (someone wants to try it on other distros?), in fact to get Ardour starting you absolutely need the hostname "localhost" configured in /etc/hosts.
    For example this is my currently working /etc/hosts

    guys, Im tired of this...
    I had some troubles with last update which were solved here
    and now I have another couple of problems :
    mplayer, vlc says segmentation fault any time Im trying to play a video.
    KDE desktop enviroment is terribly painted (flux is ok)
    glxgears (in flux) gives 60 fps !! (it was 250 before, I know that somethink was wrong but I could not figure it out before and now its.....)

  • Collect causes segmentation fault when profiling L2 data cache misses on T1

    I am attempting to profile L2 data cache misses on a SUN T1000 server, but collect causes a segmentation fault when I choose to profile L2 data cache misses.
    Is it possible to profile L2 data misses on the T1 processor?

    A simple hello world application and the failed profiling:

    I compiled with
    CC -xhwcprof -xdebugformat=dwarf -g -03 -o hello hello.c

    No it is not possible to profile L2 cache misses -- the chip does not generate
    interrupts on performance register 0 (only register 1, which is hard-wired
    to instruction count).
    That said, we should not generate a segmentation fault. Exactly
    which version of collect are you using? We did patch Studio 11
    to correctly handle the US-T1, and Studio 12 express also
    correctly handles it.
    Is the SEGV on the collect command, or on the target it launches?

  • [SOLVED] Steam Client Segmentation Fault

    The Steam client crashes with a segmentation fault when attempting to run "STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam".
    This wouldn't be so much of an issue if disabling the runtime wasn't required by SimpleScreenRecorder to inject it's libraries into steam games.
    I've run steam through gdb with runtime disabled, here are a few errors that stand out:

    After a few hours of looking for answers, it seems that Steam requires an older version of lib32-glibc than what is currently installed,
    although continues to functions so long as runtime is enabled by default. Running steam with default settings through gdb showed no
    errors regarding either "libtier0_s.so" or "libc.so.6".
    Is there a way to obtain an older package of lib32-glibc from the repo to test if this is the culprit?
    Building and compiling glibc from source is just a little bit outside my realm of understanding.

    So the Steam client is looking for ld.so.preload where it doesn't exist, and accessing the 64bit glibc library.
    I think that when Steam runs with runtime disabled, it is supposed to use the 32bit libraries, but it doesn't search
    in /usr/lib32 when the runtime is disabled. I rolled back lib32-glibc to 2.20-2 (Dec 1st, 04) and there was no change.
    Any ideas?

    I'm trying to run a program with "collect -r on a.out" and I'm getting some warnings and a segmentation fault.
    I compiled the program as showed in the Thread Analyzer Quick Guide: with flags -xopenmp=noopt -xinstrument=datarace,
    I'm getting the message below:

    Which version of Sun Studio are you using?
    The two version of Linux the latest Sun Studio Express July 2008 supports are
    * SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 with Service Pack 3 (or later)
    * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4
    Anyhow, it is difficult tell what causes the seg fault. It could be a problem in the Thread Analyzer runtime. We have also seen cases where bugs in user codes are exposed when running under 'collect -r on' as it may change timing in scheduling or reduce the amount of available memory.
    At the first step, would you be able to provide the stack trace of the dumped core?
