Solved!
Go to Solution.

You can't rollback to previous firmware, though you don't meant it, you can look for some third party music players which does work in the way you want, if can't live without it get assistance from google.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.

  • Problem with S60's Gallery and Music Player.

My question is about my phone's OS itself, I have an N81-3 phone (Symbian S60 3rd Edition FP1)
I had lots of videos, musics and apps on my 2GB memory card but yesterday I just noticed I can no longer access any of my images and videos using the phone's Gallery, also the Music Player does not show any of my songs, but I can access them using Tools>File mgr. and in Data storage mode on my PC.
I turned the phone ON and OFF, also removed my memory card and insert it again but still I can't see anything, gallery says "no images or videos"...
Applications and games which are on memory card are fine and I can still use them and problem is only about Music Player and Gallery.
How can I fix this problem?!
I must add when I tried to backup my images and videos, I noticed there are some files in the images folders which looks corrupted, their are like this: 8╟ΘukΩ+h.!~p or ─ë█#=
    Q
And when I tried to delete them I got this error: The file name you specified is not valid or too long.
or this one:  The file "File name" is a system file, if you remove it, Windows or another program may no longer work correctly.
Also these files show a size even larger than my memory card, my memory is 2GB but those corrupted files in Images folders show 12GB!
Click on the Kudos Star, if you find my post helpful!

And I must add something else, I can't format the memory card, I have some important applications installed on the memory card... and I don't know how I can move them to phone's memory, a new memory card or take backup...
I appreciate if someone help me with both problems.

  • S60 v3 music player

anyone knows a way to change the background skin for s60 v3 music player for the blue background? is there a way to alter this?

Get the Series 60 Theme Studio 3.0 from Forum Nokia and use it to change the Music Player background image. It is dead slow but it is a way. Either change an existing theme or create a new one. See the Theme Studio Artist's Guide for more information about authoring themes and transferring them to your phone.

  • Hide ringtones from the Music Player [S60]

Tired of having your ringtones listed and played together with your music? Here's how you can hide the tones from the Music Player. This is applicable for Symbian phones only (N82, N95, etc.).
WARNING: The advise below involves changing folder attributes and using tools that might easily harm the file system of your phone! If unsure that you can handle the steps, better leave the ringtones be.
Note: Following the advise below will also hide the folder/files from the build-in File Manager.
To prevent a file or folder with ringtones from being listed in the MP3 player:
    1. Get yourself a file manager that allows you to change file/folder attributes. Y-Browser will do the job - http://www.drjukka.com
    2. Create a separate folder and place in it all the ringtones and melodies you want to hide from the player. I recommend using the memory card - this will help you repair the file system in case something goes wrong.
    3. Open the file manager from Step 1 (not the build-in File Manager) and navigate to the folder from Step 2.
    4. Change the attributes of the folder to 'System'. For Y-Browser highlight the folder and choose Options -> Attributes then set 'System' to 'Yes' and press Save.
    5. Exit the file manager and refresh the library of the Music Player. Now the folder/files are not shown in the Music Player/File Manager but are still listed on music file selection dialogs (like 'Ringing tone' option in Contacts).
You can also hide single files by setting their attributes to 'System'. I do not recommend this, though.
Please, have in mind that reverting the folder to non-system might not be possible (N82 + Y-Browser 0.88, for example). If this happens you need to move the files to another folder and then delete and recreate the folder. If you have set up the folder/files on the memory card, use a card reader or 'Mass storage' mode to connect to the computer and reset the attributes from there.

  • N70 Music Player (S60 v2) issues when updating...

So it all started when I updated the firmware of my N70. At first everything seemed alright. I even liked the way it shows the song playing at the moment in the stand-by screen.
But when I put more music in the phone through PC Suite, it started to do this "Opening and Handling" stuff every time I open the Music Player. It is completely acceptable except when it removes the previous settings "shuffle, repeat" so that I have to manually put them on every time I start listening. It is very frustrating.
Now when I today added more music in my phone and then started the music player, it wouldn't start properly anymore. It just goes to the music list, then this "Opening" -screen pops up and after that it crashes to stand-by.
I was able to get the music player working at some level after this by removing the memory card and the battery and restarting the phone a few times. But the "Opening" -screen still pops up when I start the music player.
I think that the problem is due to some kind of a new setting that forces the music player to update the music library every time it starts that doesn't exist in the original firmware version.
So if anyone who knows more about the structure of the OS and the application itself would tell me if I am right about this setting and would kindly tell my how to change it(I presume there is an .ini file or something for the music player that contains the settings), I would appreciate it very much.
P.S. Sorry for the long post but I tried to explain it all as accurately as possible =)

So the problem reappeared sooner than I had feared. It is very urgent now as my music player doesn't work at all anymore. It goes to the music list, "opening" -screen pops up and then it crashes to the stand-by screen.

  • Please update your Symbian^3 music player (In PR.2...

    Hi nokia
    Hi skyee
    PR.2 will soon release
Please update your Symbian^3 music player
    Add
Search in Music Player,Equalizer Preset adjustment,Visualization And bug fixes
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I've been an avid Nokia fan and recently made the move from my beloved Nokia 5800 to the Nokia N8.
I used the excellent music player very often on my 5800, however I have been left Very frustrated by the music player on Nokia N8 and other symbian^3 (ANNA) devices.
The main culprit of the problem is *Artists and albums* are grouped together.
They Need To Be Two Separate Categories.
I cannot understand why the music player functionality has also been downgraded from Symbian S60 5th Edition. As I am left Unable to edit my music's meta data.
    Very Frustrating.
I sincerely hope my concern will be dealt with, or at least noted.
This is a make or break feature for me and will influence my decision if I should buy another Nokia S^3 device.
    Thank You.
    Have a nice day

  • N97 Music Player Fault

I installed all the updates through USB from my laptop and for 2 days afterwards my music player was working fine on the phone, then my music has vanished from my library on the phone, but I can still use any of them as ring tones through the ringtones settings part. However in my llibrary mode it is showing as nearly 5 hours of music at the top of the screen but the middle display says no files, I have connected my phone yesterday to my computer and asked it to add more songs which the computer said was successful, So I then refreshed the library after disconnecting my phone and there is no change to the library, but everything else on my phone works fine.
    What do I do?

    Try This

  • N97 Music Player

Is there a better / alternative music player available anywhere for the N97? The default player is poor in my opinion - the player I had on my 2 year old Sony W960 was way ahead of this Nokia product.
Simple things like being able to hide artists associated with compilations seems to be missing.

I agree with rapid, poor sound compared to my last SE 'phone. Good high end but the middle is weak and the bass lacks any puch whatsoever. And those earphones? A 'phone that costs so much and a budget of 7 pence for them? Good grief.
Nokia: do yourselves a favour - go and spend a few quid on a cheap Sony 'phone and have a look at how the music should be done on your "market leading entertainment device".
Sony: here's an opportunity for you - port some of your music player software to S60 v5, sell it in the Ovi and you'll have a stream of punters. In fact, since the upcoming Satio / Idou / whatever-it's-called-this-week is S60 v5, and I'm assuming you'll have put more than 10 minutes though into the music player on the thing, let's just have that software. Thanks.
I do like most things about this 'phone and I expect the irritating bugs will get ironed out in due course, but it's a shame it had to be so disappointing out of the box.

  • The E6 music player is practically useless-

…compared with the music player in E71 (S60 ver. 500.21.009)
    1. Missing is the incremental real time search in any list of songs which searched in any part of the name - not just the beginning. It worked by just starting to type on the hardware keyboard at any time while in the "All songs" list for example.
    2. Missing are the categorized lists by:
      All songs
      Artists
      Albums
      Genres
      Composers
Most annoyingly the above two features still exist in the Ringtone selection screen (when customizing a profile) exactly as they were in the E71 - this means that the underlying database is still intact and could support the functionality.
    3. It is impossible to add the currently playing song to a play list from the "Now playing" screen. You need to hit "back" to go to the "Songs" screen and long-tap the song to get "Add to playlist" from the context menu.
    4. The shuffle mode is switched off after almost any operation - most notably selecting a new song to play, or even tapping the currently playing song in the "Songs" list to go to the "Now playing" screen.
    5. The keyboard is TOTALLY unused! There is no more previous, next, play, pause with the direction keys... which makes is impossible to do any of those operations "by touch" when the hone is in your pocket.
    6. And when the phone is in your pocket with the music application in the foreground the screen will auto lock, therefore doing anything but adjusting the volume requires taking the phone out, unlocking it and using the touch screen - which does not work with gloves for example!
    7. The "fancy 3D scrolling album art" screen is completely useless for a big collection of unrelated songs from different artists/albums.
I understand that Anna was developed for full screen touch phones without a hardware keyboard like the X7, but the music player is a HUGE step backward from what we had in the E71. In it's current state it is almost unusable and is the most annoying part of the otherwise beautiful E6.
After contacting Nokia support directly three times all I got was a "we don't know, we don’t care" attitude to my completely reasonable questions of whether and when the music player will be fixed and if it is possible to have the old one form the 5x version ported and released for Anna. The functionality in the ringtone selection screen proves that the supporting infrastructure is intact and the problem is purely in the (brain damaged) design of the new music player.
P.S. I am using the current 022.014 software release.
P.P.S. I did read the "fix your Album artist ID3 tags" (e.g.) /t5/Software-Updates/Symbian-Anna-Troubleshooting/td-p/1127953 it is impractical for a collection of 2391 songs, does not address any of the points above and is a lame excuse for a broken application.

I had precisely the same problems.  E6 a great phone, but the music player sofware really really sucks and very difficult to use.
Anyone knows if any of the problems listed above by 'ruevs' been solved by a sofware update ?
I had a E5 previously and music player so much better to handle.
Another problem I have with E6: when I open 'messages' via the shortkey long press button, it opens at 'messaging' listing all my 'sent items'.
Can the settings be changed to open via the short key in the 'Folders' option, which gives you all the options to choose from 'Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Outbox, etc'.  Or is this a software setting I cannot change ?
In the E5 it has this option of opening 'Folders' with messaging short key.
    or:
if I open the 'Inbox', it gives me 'all the folders' option on the top of the screen to choose from, which is good. Can the short key message button settings be changed to open in 'Inbox' option directly ?
If not, then it is another problem and not better than the E5 which had these options.
Another question: can the options on the homescreens only be selected by touch, not also by the Scroll key ?  Can it be changed in a setting to use the scroll key also in home screens ?
In other screens the scroll key works, but not in homescreens ?
Thank you for the answers, I appreciate it.

  • E5 music player library not updating automatically

  • Music player for E6

Please, I am looking for other music player, more like the one in Symbian S60. I have tried TuneWiki but it looks tiny!
I really hate the music player for Anna. Nice looking but clumsy!

Clumsy? The music player according to my experience is everything than clumsy...maybe I missunderstand you here...?
    Anyway, try this player,
    http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=lcgjukebox
I think it is also "tiny" but try it anyway..
Sure, Nokia should develop a built-in search function, but I don´t miss it cause I am more of streaming music over 3G (nokia internet radio and mecanto).
I think that the audio quality also is way better than I could dream of (as an old high fidelity fan). I was really surprise over this..

  • Music Player battery life

I was just wondering if the more experienced users could inform me on this issue...
I have an N78, running S60 3rd ed FP2, and my music playing life is around 20 hours. N79 and N85, which are running on the same platform (S60 3rd FP2) have claimed music life of 30 hours. N79 has exactly the same battery type and capacity as N78, and i'm guessing similar processor/hardware to the N78. I was wondering if Nokia would be able to increase the Music Player music playing time of N78 in future firmware updates, or is it actually a hardware based-issue and not FP2 leading to improved consumption improvements?
if someone with technical knowledge could shed some light on this it would be nice

i came across a review that may shed some extra light on this matter: http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-n85-en.shtml
it says that: "Since the Nokia N85 runs on similar hardware as the Nokia N78 and N79 and employs the same Feature Pack 2, it's safe to say that Nokia have done a great job fine-tuning the system's code to allow for longer battery life."
though i do agree with you el_loco that it is a different flavour of FP2, from reviews i've read it seems that N79 and N85 have a much more refined version of FP2 with some additional applications installed
we can only pray that future firmware updates will include these code tweaks, but it may very well be unlikely that an increase in music playback time will occur
