N73 Modem Draver and CDC Comms Interface not insta...

I have tried every permutation to get my PC (Windows XP) to connect using my CA 70 cable and it will just not work! The USB modem driver does not appear to be in the PC Suite package. Help!

CDC Comms Interface Drivers

I have an E90 Communicator, which I use to connect to the internet on my PC via a USB cable. It all worked fine with XP, but after upgrading to Vista, I am unable to connect. The latest version of PC suite says that there is no modem found, and Vista keeps asking for CDC Comms Interface drivers, which I cannot locate. I have tried everything I know - using the version of PC suite that worked with XP, uninstalling and reinstalling... etc.
The handset is seen by XP, I can do everything except connect to the net.
Please can someone help me before I have a mini-meltdown?

I solved this problem (at least on my Windows XP)
Do this:
1. Uninstall all Nokia Software (Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and PC Suite)
2. Restart
3. Download newest Nokia PC Suite from: http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905
4. Download the old version of Cable Driver from: http://rapidshare.com/files/108946848/Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_6_85_10_0_eng.msi.html
5. Install PC Suite (don't connect phone)
6. Restart
7. Close all PC Suite programs (e.g. Nokia Synchro, PC Suite)
8. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
9. Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
10. Restart
11. Install old version of Cable Driver you downloaded
12. Now connect phone to PC
13. Everything should work now.

I had apower surge and blew out my modem. Bought a new modem / router, and now I can not download PDF files. If I use internet explorer I can download them. Not with Firefox, I'm using Firefox 5.0

Everything else works fine. I've tried with 3 different modems. I was told it wasn't the modem. Something else is preventing The PDF file from loading.I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled,checked all the settings. I can't find anything wrong. CDC comms interface - Nokia C7

Nokia C7-00 USB serial port??
I was installing OVI and connecting my C7 and experiencing the problem in the Deviece Manager, using Windows XP. There is a yellow exclamation mark next to the driver, and I reinstalled it, uninstalled it, trying to update it but nothing happened. What is the problem? Any solution?

MDM was working with AT command, but I don't need a AT command and Qualcomm Command did not working. (This command definition from out test tool)

I have created on two scenario objects in XI ID.
But In RWB i can see only one sceario message interfaces and communication channels but the for other scenario MIs and Communication channels are not visible in RWB
I have created all the things in only one Namespace.
What could be the problem .please help me

I've 4 questions. And 1M thanks for your precious input.
1. OOAD steps:
Requirement-->Use Cases-->Analysis Classes-->Sequence Diagrams-->CRC-->other UML diagrams if needed--> Domain/Business Classes.
If we follow the rule 'Program to an interface, not an implementation',
would that imply NECESSARILY we should have another set of Interface Classes for our Domain Classes? i.e Interface_ClassX for ClassX_Impl.
2. If the point 1 is a MUST because of the rule 'Program to an interface, not an implementation',
ie we should have an Interface classe for every one Domain classe,
would that NECESSARILY imply we should have as many Factory Methods as they are Domain Classes to abstract the creation process?
Interface_ClassX X= Factory.GetClassX() ( return new ClassX_Impl)
Interface_ClassY Y= Factory.GetClassY() ( return new ClassY_Impl)
Interface_ClassZ Z= Factory.GetClassZ() ( return new ClassZ_Impl)
3. On the point 2, the underlying principle used is Factory Methods.
Now on the surface, what are other possible business and/or technical naming for such Factory Methods? I mean should we call it a kind of Business Facade?
4. Is the point 1 and point 2 considered to be the best practices?

Now, if the Presentation Tier, says JSP, needs that
ClassNormal object. Would we still keep that line of

JSP from the direct creational aspect using new
keyword like the choice b. that you reject.
The point here is to reduce the direct coupling aspect
between the Presentation Tier and Business Tier. So
what would that intermediate object be?In that case, you have to ask yourself if there is a valid
need for reducing the coupling. If you simply make an intermediate
object, what keeps you from making an intermediate object to your
new intermediate object, ad infinitum.
That intermediate object could be a Facade pattern, or simply
an abstraction. We actually did that here, we began a massive
java project, and we abstracted away from Swing J-classes and created
our own "wrappers" that simply extended all the J-classes and we had
all our programmers develop using our wrappers instead of the Swing
classes. That allowed us to add some custom code, some temporary bug fixes, etc. Some of our classes were nothing more than "EPPasswordField extends JPasswordField" with nothing overridden. It does allow us a place to hook in and adjust or fix things if needed though.

Modems, Routers and Hubs

I'm really trying to get a handle on this but it doesn't look promising. I have a NextNet wireless modem, a Linksys 4-port router and a linksys 5-port hub.
I am trying to connect the internet to my mac and Dell pc running windows xp.
There are times when both computers work well and times when neither will connect. Today is one of those times. I have to disconnect everything and plug the modem directly into the mac in order to get online. Same goes for the pc.
I'm not using the hub at all since, from an earlier post, I was told only a router would do the trick.
I have connected the mac and pc to the router, ports 1 and 2 (uplink switch is not depressed). I then connected the modem to the internet port. I get green lights on everything but cannot get on the internet. I've tried turning everything off. Then turning on the router, modem, mac and pc. Sometimes that works. I've also tried powering down and up the router. Same goes for the modem. Sometimes that works. Sometimes not. I've tried repairing permissions on the mac. I've done disk verifications. I've run macjanitor. If all I am able to do is plug and re plug the modem directly into the two computers for them to have internet service I will go rapidly insane.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The only thing else on the unit is the provider's logo; plateau.

Dimension Current Flag and Last Update date not updated - SLD issue!

ODI is running pretty well now. I have created several interfaces from flats, multi database tables, but still have to test the services and cdc, etc... later I will do this.
I am having a small issue here when dealing with Slowly Changing Dimensions. I am trying to populate a product dimension. I use a Load KM and the SLD KM. Then I update a product row in the source, and I wish to make sure that type-II runs OK for major and minor changes after running the interface.
Well minor changes run ok, deletes don't run at all, and update for major changes should generate another surrogate key and turn the old record "current flag" to zero and "close"/update the last update date as well!!!
What am I missing here? Is this related to the KM restrictions?

Do I need to implement somehow that behaviour or use another KM?
Another question regarding data warehousing: Well usually in a bespoke DW we can have N sources, N staging areas, and several data marts. Using ODI, for instance what are the best practises to create or simulate this behaviour??
I know that using a Knowledge Module I can load/extract (to temp tables in the source work schema), then integrate in the target schema.. using the same schema to temp staging tables or another schema.... what is the best aproach?
Any dw people wants to share some experiences here?

Nokia n95 8gb CDC COMMS ERROR - FAILED DRIVER INST...

Hi, If anyone could put this demon to rest I would be greatly appreciated.
I have been using my NOKIA N95 8GB for over a year with my computer, that runs Wondows Vista. A few months back I discovered that My phone would no longer connect to the computer in Windows Media Player Sync mode. I then found this was true of all connections except PCSUITE. Even though it does connect in pc suite mode, the computer states that it is installing the drivers for the phone,a nd then opens a little windows in the task tray where it says all the things it is installing. Eventually everything except two things are installed. CDC COMMS, and COM16
If I attach the phone in any other connection other than PCSUITE My phone makes an unhealthy fast usb connection tone, and does not seem to resgister. If i go into Device Manager I can see the computer does realise the phone is there but has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. The phone does not show up in Windows Media Player, or in My Computer as a secondary hardrive as it should.
This problem has now been apparent with two different phones, Vodafone sent me a new product to check if it was the phone itself. I checked the phone on my mum's computer and it seems to work fine, I can install all drivers and The phone registers in pc suite and media player.

Since you narrow it down the probllem to your pc/laptop why not have your pc/lapto scan for virus/malware from the net. If the problem still persist then have a clean re- install of the os & do a restore of your backup.

User updated to WinXP SP3 and now it does not show login screen

Hi,
I have a user that updated to Windows XP3, that Install and shutdown option, but the user closed the notebook.
Now Windows XP boots but after showing the mouse and the blue wallpaper, the login screen never appears and windows stops there.
The mouse pointer is from windows and it is moving, the hard disk shows no activity, no funny noise, etc.
I think it was a problem with the update. I even have done a Install in place of windows xp sp2 and nothing.
Could it be hardware? Or just windows?

Dude! Why did you unistall IE7? I don't know that I've ever heard that being a problem in all the few thousand posts I've read.
My recommendation at his point is to boot in the safe mode and do a restore to a time when you didn't have any problems.
It's going to take some good decisions at this point. Let us know how it goes.

PL/SQL and Java Swing interface

Everybody in this forum knows that Oracle is the best database around
with many functionalities, stability, performance, etc. We also know
that PL/SQL is a great language to manipulate information directly
in the database with many built in functions, OOP capability,
transaction control, among other features. Today an application that
manipulates information, which needs user interface, requires components
to be developed using different technologies and normally running in
different servers or machines. For example, the interface is done using
a dynamic HTML generator like JSP, PHP, PL/SQL Web Toolkit, etc.
This page is executed in an application server like Oracle iAS or
Tomcat, just to name two, which in turn access a database like Oracle to
build the HTML. Also rich clients like Java applets require an intermediate
server to access the database (through servlets for example) although
it is possible to access the database directly but with security issues.
Another problem with this is that complexity increases a lot, many
technologies, skills and places to maintain code which leads to a greater
failure probability. Also, an application is constantly evolving, new
calculations are added, new tables, changed columns. If you have an
application with product code for example and you need to increase its
size, you need to change it in the database, search for all occurrences
of it in the middle-tier code and perhaps adjust interfaces. Normally
there is no direct dependency among the tier components. On another
issue, many application interfaces today are based on HTML which doesn't
have interactive capabilities like rich-client interfaces. Although it
is possible to simulate many GUI widgets with JavaScript and DHTML, it is
far from the interactive level we can accomplish in rich clients like
Java Swing, Flash MX, Win32, etc. HTML is also a "tag-based" language
originally created to publish documents so even small pages require
many bytes to be transmitted, far beyond of what we see on the screen.
Even in fast networks you have a delay time to wait the page to be
loaded. Another issue, the database is in general the central location
for all kinds of data. Most applications relies on it for security,
transaction and availability. My proposal is to use Oracle as the
central location for interface, processing and data. With this approach
we can create not only the data manipulation procedures in the database,
but procedures that also control and manage user interfaces. Having
a Oracle database as the central location for all components has many
advantages:
- Unique point of maintenance, backup and restore
- Integrated database security
- One language for everything, PL/SQL or Java (even both if desired)
- Inherited database cache, transaction and processing optimizations
- Direct access to the database dictionary
- Application runs on Oracle which has support for many platforms.
- Transparent use of parallel processing, clusters and future
background technologies
Regarding the interface, I already created a Java applet renderer
which receives instructions from the database on how to create GUI
objects and how to respond to events. The applet is only 8kb and can
render any Swing or AWT object/event. The communication is done
through HTTP or HTTPS using Oracles's MOD_PLSQL included in the Apache
HTTP server which comes with the database or application server (iAS).
I am also creating a database framework and APIs in PL/SQL to
create and manipulate the client interface. The applet startup is
very fast because it is very small, you don't need to download large
classes with the client interface. Execution is done "on-demand"
according to instructions received from the database. The instructions
are very optimized in terms of network bandwidth and based on preliminary
tests it can be up to 1/10 of a similar HTML screen. Less network usage
means faster response and means that even low speed connections will
have a good performance (a future development can be to use this in
wireless devices like PDAs e even cell phones, just an idea for now).
The applet can also be executed standalone by using Java Web Start.
With this approach no business code, except the interface, is executed
on the client. This means that alterations in the application are
dynamically reflected in the client, no need to "re-download" the
application. Events are transmitted when required only so network
usage is minimized. It is also possible to establish triggering
events to further reduce network usage. Since the protocol used is
HTTP (which is stateless), the database framework I am creating will
be responsible to maintain the state of connections, variables, locks
and session information, so the developer don't need to worry about it.
The framework will have many layers, from communication up to
application so there will be pre-built functions to handle queries,
pagination, lock, mail, log, etc. The final objective is to have a
rich client application integrated into the database with minimum
programming and maintenance requirements, not forgetting customization
capabilities. Below is a very small example of what can de done. A
desktop with two windows, each window with two fields, a button with an
image to switch the values, and events to convert the typed text when
leaving the field or double-clicking it. The "leave" event also has an
optimization to only be triggered when the text changes. I am still
developing the framework and adjusting the renderer but I think that all
technical barriers were transposed by now. The framework is still in
the early stages, my guess is that only 5% is done so far. As a future
development even an IDE can be created so we have a graphical environment
do develop applications. I am willing to share this with the PL/SQL
community and listen to ideas and comments.

Camera and ipod shuffle do not show up on desk top when connected

Kodak camera and ipod shuffle do not show up on desk top when connected. Trying to download pictures and adding my music to ipod shuffle, Anyone have any suggestions.

Have you plugged in another USB device to ensure that the USB ports are working?
Suggest you buy (about $10 - $20) a USB memory card reader. Just plug your camera's memory card into it & copy the pic files to your Mac. Quicker & easier than interfacing the camera for pic transfer.

Hey,
Just wanted to post that in my case this was the error of MVT_IND field in item table. When I made it from 'B' to blank then it worked.
