N73 PC Suite connection problem

I have installed the latest version of PC Suite 6.81.13.0 and when the program asks me to connect the phone, I connect via Nokia USB CA-53 cable and select the PC Suite option on the handset. At this point the "Connect cable" dialogue box hangs and the "Next" option is greyed out. The cursor shows the egg timer to indicate it is waiting and the Help, Back and Exit buttons are all working ok.
I am using a AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual core 3800+
Can you help please?

I am having exactly the same problem as this. in my case it has worked fine in the past.
The connection process hangs at the point described in the earlier post.
I do not see the phone anywhere in Device manager.
The N73 DOES prompt me to choose the connection type when I connect the cable, and I choose "PC Suite".
I have a Dell Dimension 3100, Windows XP Pro, latest patches/SP.
The phone is connected directly to a USB port on the machine - no hubs.
I am running the latest PC Suite (I upgraded to see if it would fix the problem but it didn't).
All my other USB devices work fine.
Windows shows no indication that a device has been connected (no system tray alerts etc), and PC Suite just hangs presumably waiting for a connection. From the phone end it knows it is connected.

  • N97 - Ovi Suite Connection Problem - Windows 7

    Hi all.
I have N97, firmware version 20.0.019 (t mobile - **bleep** with the old firmware updates.... )
I am running windoze 7 with all updates etc.
I have the latest version of nokia Ovi Suite and the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
I am reluctantly trying to get used to using ovi suite instead of PC ever since Nokia's update page seemed to suggest I should be using OVi suite with this phone.
Anyway bluetooth connection is working fine. I can do all syncs with everything on bluetooth.
USB connection is not, when the phone is connected, and I select PC Suite on the phone, the phone and PC then get stuck in a sort of loop where the PC is "installing drivers" and the phone keeps asking me to select PC Suite mode.  Occasionally I get an error message saying I am stuck in file transfer mode.
I have also tried this after going into settings and setting USB connection mode to PC SUITE only, with Don't Ask selected.
This is profoundly frustrating and also renders the ability to update phone software totally useless because you cannot update via bluetooth, only USB connection.
I am getting mighty peeved off with Nokia's ability to get firmware, and software products right.  Come on guys, hire some decent developers, and/or start responding to feedback from customers like me.  (I'd happily beta test any software, I've done it before for an online game......!!!!)
I am considering selling my N97 online, and just buying an unlocked HTC HD2 after over a decade of using Nokia phones.
    help!
    R

Amazing that so many have responded to this post, and not one has come close to the right answer... I've had the same problem for a while, and at first I thought it was just my old XP notebook - which had more than one problem - or the general poor performance we've come to expect from the N97. I couldn't even sync on Ovi. But with my new Windows 7 notebook in hand, I was all excited to finally update the firmware on my phone - which had been stuck on v12 for a while. Imagine my surprise when I still had the same problems with my brand-new notebook. I started browsing around for more help than this thread, and found that Nokia has released a software update program seperate from Ovi Suite. Just google "Nokia Software Updater for Windows 7" or whatever version of windows you have, download & install. You might need to kill three "Nokia..." processes in the Task Manager to let it run, because it seems Ovi suite has these processes starting up with Windows. (Amazing when they program applications to do that without your permission!) Why on earth would Ovi Suite need to run three processes on my machine anyway, if I haven't even started up the program after reboot? But still, this program wouldn't connect to my N97 via USB. I clicked on the icon in the system tray showing the drivers installing after I plugged it in, and found the culprit: The installation of the driver for "MTP USB Device" failed. Googled that, and found that there are a lot of people having problems with that, from cameras to cellphones to mp3 players. Tried a few suggestions I found, and ended up having to uninstall all my (brand new?) USB controllers (under "Device Manager") and deactivate Windows Media Player from "Windows Features", reboot, then re-activate Windows Media Player - something to do with MTP Devices getting their drivers from Windows Media Player. Not sure if it was one or both of these fixes, but then Nokia Software Updater connected to my N97 with no problem. Installed the software update, and now all is good again. Incidentally, after the software update was complete, a whole bunch of different drivers were installed when I connected the USB... the main one changed from "Nokia ... Parent ..." something to "Nokia... Flashing..." something - and Ovi Suite connects fine now as well! Good luck to everyone who had this problem - it's been fun.

  • N8+OVI Suite connection problem

    Hello all.
I have a problem since I update ovi suite to version 3.0.0.029. I can't connect the phone to ovi. It is always tell me "connect your device to your computer with usb". It's done but ovi don't detect the device . I have try with ovi suite, pc suite, software updater and noone detect the phone.
I read a lot of people with the same problem but noone could fixed it. I try to uninstall all nokia programs and reinstall but the same. I try with other computer and same.
OS in both computers Windows 7
    Ovi suite 3.0.0.029
    ¿Any idea here?
    Thanks.
PD: sorry for my english. I'm from spain and i tried to dont use a translator

I have the same problem with my N8. I've tried everything.
Ovi Suite does not recognise my phone, but the computer does (so I can sync with Media Player etc.).
I was hoping that PR 1.1. would fix the problem, but it did not.
Everything worked fine with the old Ovi Suite.
So, this is simply a problem of the NEW Ovi Suite, not the problem of computer or cable or anything like that.
    Here are the specs:
    Windows Vista
    Cable Nokia CA-179
Other specs from Ovi Suite system information:
    Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290
    Ovi Player 2.1.10304.0
    Nokia Photos 1.6.387.0
    PC Connectivity Solution 10.50.2.0
    Connectivity Cable Driver -ohjain 7.1.36.0
Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater 2010.44.0.60888
    Maps Service API 4.0.24.1
    Nokia mPlatform 2.7.44
Waiting for a solution from anyone...and no, I will not upgrade to Windows 7 or anything like that. I will upgrade to another non-Symbian phone, however, if this can't be fixed.

  • Nokia E60 USB to PC Suite connection problem

    Hello all,
one week ago I get Nokia E60. I tried to connect it to my PC via USB cable, that came with the phone. The PC and the phone didn’t find any connection. There was no indication on the PC that there is something connected to USB port, nor to the E60. I tried with other USB ports, which are on the motherboard. No change. Then I reinstall the PC Suite with latest version on the Nokia Web site. Again – no change. Then I tried with another PC, but the problem is the same. At last I had connection of E60 and the PC via Bluetooth and there was no, absolutely any problem. Establishing the connection took less than 20-30 seconds. For example when I try to use USB cable it “dies” for 5-10 minutes and nothing happens.
Please give me some advice what could be the problem. I have red all the FAQ’s on the site but they didn’t help me.
    Thanks in advance!!!

With USB connection you should get when you connect the cable to phone and PC some alternatives in the phone screen what type of connection you are wanting. Do you get that question in the phone side ? What are the alternatives visible and what do you choose as alternative ? (I don't have E60 but my guess is that it should give an alternative to choose "pc suite" among other alternatives ?) Only then PC Suite starts to load the cable drivers for PC Suite usage.
Also, if you check the device manager in your PC, how is the phone visible there, any unknown devices ?

This is a very common problem it seems, from Googling around for different help solutions. In fact, I'm here because of the same issue. WHich is why I find it slightly annoying that no one from Nokia can be bothered to post a definative solution in an FAQ or something, or maybe just post here to point people in the right direction.
Despite all the attention being garnered by Android and Apple, Nokia is STILL the worlds largest manufacturer of mobile phones, and N95 8GB/N96/N97 users are probably still your loyal base of 'power' users. I for one have a smartphone because my contract was due for renewal, but still use the normally trusty N95/8 (now looking a little weatherbeaten!). Now, if you're going to convince us to try the N8 on our next contracts, it would be nice to see a few more updates and responses to ovi problems. Can we still 'downgrade' to PC suite? Perhaps I'll go and have a look.

  • Nokia 5300 USB PC-Suite connection problem

I have tried to get my Nokia 5300 to connect to PC-Suite through the supplied USB cable. I can get a connection using Bluetooth, but with USB I can only connect the 5300 in disk mode.
I can see that many others on these pages have reported the same symptoms I experience:
    - Error message during installation of PC-Suite regarding "setupext.exe" referencing memory at location "0x00000000".
    - Windows "New hardware" wizard interfering when the 5300 is connected, popping up and insisting on installing new drivers, then failing and after you have closed the wizard it repeats this procedure.
So, apparently the cable driver installed is not recognized by Windows as the correct driver for this connection. I have tried in vain to clean out the installation in order to start over:
    - Removed cable connectivity driver using the "Remove software" control panel.
    - Same action for PC-Suite.
    - Used the PC-Cleaner program to remove all traces of the installation (this failed)
    - Manually (using regedit.exe) removed the last traces of Nokia entries in the registry.
And then, after re-installing the latest version of PC-Suite with my firewall disabled, I still have the same problem.
At this point I don't really know how to proceed and any suggestions that could help me overcome this problem would be highly appreciated.

Just to balance this a bit, I just connected 5300 to my PC with cable, did you use any wizard what so ever, only selected the mode in phone screen, waited for 10 secs and I was connected to PC Suite, so yes, you guys have a problem but it is not a designed feature that the connection build up is that complicated. Unfortunately I do not know what is the difference between my PC setup and yours so that I could suggest a rootcause for the problem

  • E65 and Pc Suite Connection Problem

    Hi Everyone,
I seem to have a problem with my E65. My goal is to synchronize my calendar in Lotus Notes, with my E65, every 30 minutes when I am around the laptop (via bluetooth).
However, although I am able to connect to my phone via bluetooth from PC Suite (I can see the files in my E65 form my laptop, connect via gprs, etc.), the synchronization doesnt work. It used to work a while back, but then, I remember having similar problems.
In PC suite v.6.85.14.1, when I click on, "Click here to connect a phone" and choose bluetooth connection in the popup box, my phone appears in the list, with a handshake and a lock icon next to it (paired). I select my phone in the list, hit next, and it says "You now have the following connections available: Arda E65". Great! But when I go back to the PC Suite, it still says "Click here to connect a phone". Damn!
Also, there is a PC Sync icon in my taskbar. Click on it, and the Nokia PC Sync comes up. The synchronize now option is faded out, and only View last report and Select Phone is available. When I click on Select Phone, nothing comes up..
Can someone please help me with this problem as I really need that feature. That was one of my reasons for buying the Nokia E65...
    Thanks in advance,
    Arda..

  • N79 PC suite connection problem

Phone: Nokia N79, firmware v11.049 PC suite: version 6.85.15.4 OS: Vista Home Premium in Norwegian language While connecting the phone to the computer with the supplied USB cable, I get the following error message: “Nokia N97 connected in a non-compatible USB-mode” The phone is in general profile, no programs running, and I choose PC suite mode for connection. I have tried all the different USB ports on my Dell Inspirion 9400 laptop, and power supply is used. The phone language is in English, the OS in Norwegian, and I have tried both Norwegian and English language on the PC Suite. Since the phone was suppose to be my main source of internet here in Tanzania, I have limited possibilities to download new software. Could anyone please help me?

    Hi,
it's really a problem, cause v.6.85 is the very old version now and can be not compatibile with N79 now.
You should at least download new drivers but i'm afraid, that help can only new 7.1.18.0 NPCS, it's about 34MB.
Maybe there is a Nokia service in capital city, where you can get a cd with software.
    Good luck

Windows can't find the driver automatically so I go to locate the driver manually. Under NOKIA there are many drivers, which is the right one to use?
    Any suggestions much appreciated!

Just to follow on, tried the first driver on the list only to find a) it didn't work, b) when I restarted had to do a system restore!
Has anyone out there successfully used a C-42 cable to connect to PC suite on Vista with a 6101?
It worked perfectly well with Windows XP and an Ir connection.

  • PC suite Connection problem

    Hi
I have recently update my N80 to new frimware and installed new PC Suite verision 6.81.13.0 from Nokia Site, after that i am not able to connect to my N80 to my laptop, with previous version after the upgrade also i am able to connect. is there a bug in the new PC suite let me know.

What might have happened is that the phone lost its data about it ever been connected with a thing called PC Suite adn PC Suite still thinks it is paired with your phone and that causes the problem.
Connect the phone, go to get connected wizard in PC Suite and select "uppair". Then boot phone (just in case) and try to pair the 2 again (PC Suite and phone) and see if that helps.
If still problems, next time go to about PC Suite - System info and type exactly the info there to your thread answer, it helps to figure out what is the problem.

  • Nokia E71 - PC Suite connectivity problem

Hi, I am using E71 since 1 year and use to connect to my LAPTOP on PC Suite. Since One month i am facing problem that the phone is not getting connected to my LAPTOP. Drivers are installed , PC suite upgraded to 7.4.x, checked at Nokia care center, No success.  When I click on PC Suite, it looks for connectivity and gives an error as check for connector drivers. I got my LAPTOP also verified by service centre and confirmed LAPTOP is good with any other device except with this.    Meanwhile If I connect the same E71 with same cable to another LAPTOP which is installed with PC Suite is connecting well and even at Nokia support center it worked with their PC.   I could not find a solution. on how to resolve this. Pl. help me.
I have enclosed screen shorts for reference.  My LAPTOP has 4 USB ports and device is detected and drivers are installed on all the 4 ports.  But it is not detected from PC SUITE.
BUT IF I CONNECT THE PHONE IN MASS STORAGE DEVICE, IT IS WORKING FINE.

Problem just solved. I installed Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 operating system and now it works perfectly, so the problem was just that the performance edition operating system caused the drivers not installing properly. But now I have another kind of a problem. I am using the N96 as a modem for Internet. I can only get a speed of approx 45kb/s, while I have got almost 110kb/s with another computer using the same cable. Is it caused because of the USBv1.1 slow USB version? But shouldn't it still be able to do better than 45kb/s, while it transfers files with OK speeds? When I use the Bluetoothv1 USB Dongle, it works with about the same speed but only when using the performance edition, not when using the home original OS. When using home edition OS it works about 5kb/s, but it could have been just temporary. But my main question is, still, that how could I get the speed faster? I have installed the windows KBxxxxxxx patch, but still it works pretty slow, just about half of the speed it is supposed to work.

  • PC Suite connectivity problems

I have owned 3 different nokia phones over the last 5 years or so. With all of the phones and using different versions of PC Suite, different methods of connection (cable, infrared) and even different computers I have never had satisfactory connectivity. At best I can connect immediately after installation of PC Suite (usually never at all, though) but once the connection is lost or disconnected, that's it. No matter what I do I can't connect again. I'm really tired of this (as I said, 5 years!). I love my nokia phone but I can't do anything with it via my pc except for file management via my sd card.

What ms os you are using(XP or Vista? On that device manager, try to uninstall that "Red x", then from the above menu try to rescan for new device & check if the proper driver is installed & the "x" disappear.

  • E71x nokia pc suite connection problems

Everytime i  connect my phone to my computer and open Nokia Suite, it says that my phone is connected in a non-compatible mode. i do now know how to connect it in a "compatible way".

The phone should wake up when it makes the physical connection on USB and ask if you want to connect "PC Suite' if you have the correct configuration set. Go to Menu ->Settings ->Configurations->Connection->Data Cable->Data Cable Mode. Select 'PC Suite' from the options.  A better solution is to select the next setting below it, "ask on connection" set it to "yes" so that when you plug the phone in, you will have the choice.  In any case, that's where you tell the phone you want to have it communicate with PC Suite when connected.
If you are using Bluetooth, it appears the phone defaults to PC Suite, so I can't help you there.
    Good luck!
